Rosalie was dressed for her morning run: once-white sneakers that now faded toward grey instead, only a purple streak running through the dirt, the same shade as her sweatpants. It was convenient. It meant that, should she chicken out, she'd be able to dash for it, and fail to make her meeting time.

It meant that, were she stood up, she could just keep jogging, no one the wiser as to that fact. And a fatalistic part of her was definitely marking this as a strong possibility.

As it was, she was ten minutes early, but lingered mostly out of sight to keep an eye out for whoever-it-was to show up, clinging to the side of a local building and trying not to think about if this counted as trespassing. Or what the people would think if they saw her out and talking to one of the terrorists --

Nicole was late to bed, early to rise, and always had been. There was just so much to do that sleeping just seemed absurd. In the year 2012, Nicole would have done chores around the house that she'd done the other morning and then some more paperwork but now that 2013 had come around and her life as Svartalfheim split up her time she had to compromise. She wouldn't slow down though.

So it was pretty much pre-dawn when Nicole had organized this whole charade. She had come through with her promise, even if that meant exposing herself not that she felt she would. She felt that in a pickle she could handle any situation that arose so she wasn't really concerned about that. In fact, she had only thought about it briefly before deciding just how absurd it was.

No matter which side she walked on, Nicole was still Nicole and although Rosalie may have shown up early, Svartalfheim had shown up even earlier. She stood there out of public view in what appeared to be a very relaxed position but was actually fairly strong. It wasn't exactly the meeting place because she didn't intend to stand there where she might be vulnerable so after ten minutes had passed and the meeting time came she walked out and not a second later.

An out-of-sight Mexican standoff, each of them lurking in the shadows and waiting for the other, as the seconds counted down to their meeting time Rosalie was more and more sure that she'd been right about being stood up. It was only when Svartalfheim stepped out that she sucked in a breath, watching the page through narrowed eyes, frozen and small. Not afraid, no, of course not, just...debating.

It would be wrong to run. Rude. Unjust. It would be an insult to Nicole. So she straightened and emerged at a slow jog, eyeing Svarta uncertainly. She wasn't sure what to say, now that she had her meeting. Or what to do. Or what would happen now...

Svartalfheim knew who she was looking for because she was the one who set up the meeting in the first place but as far as Rosalie was concerned they were strangers and the page of saturn kept this in mind, keeping her distance and standing in an as nonthreatening pose as she could muster up. Purple eyes fell upon Rosalie as she emerged at a slow jog, curiosity falling upon the page. She never knew why exactly Rosalie had wanted to do this meeting but now that she was so close to finding out it was killing her. So she smiled, and she smiled some more.

"I'm meeting someone here," she stated clearly, hoping it would clear any doubts about what she was doing here.

"Me, I think." Her expression was still guarded, though, her posture still tensed -- ready to run, should needs be. And, yes, her mouth was set into a frown as Rosalie took in the woman in front of her. At least Svarta wasn't a short-skirted teenager, flouncing around in spiked heels and low cut blouses. At least her outfit seemed sturdy, reasonable -- even more so, perhaps, than Lyngvi's herself.

She drew in a breath. And the another one. Stepping not quite in within arm's reach.

"Who are you?"
PostPosted: Mon Jun 03, 2013 9:52 pm

Svartalfheim's face was friendly, a smile carried over her lips as Rosalie said she was the one she was waiting for. Svartalfheim knew this but to hear it from Rosalie was a green light to go. She didn't move from her spot, keeping a casual position that didn't move in any way she thought might startle Rosalie but when Rosalie herself made a step forward she felt a bit better.

"I carry the name Svartalfheim, how can I help you?"

It was an excellent question, and one -- one that Rosalie -- well, she wasn't sure where to start. She licked her lips, shooting a look down the street briefly, and smoothing hair back off of her forehead. It had been easier to plot the meeting itself than plot what would come after, and now that one of them was standing in front of her --

She paused. Drew in a slow, careful breath.

"I wanted to know where you come from, why you are here, and what the creatures are that plague our city."
PostPosted: Fri Jun 07, 2013 11:26 am

The questions Rosalie had weren't entirely unexpected but Svartalfheim wasn't sure if Rosalie would actually believe the answers she had in store for her. She thought if over, weighing the options at hand here. She didn't even consider lying because frankly that seemed kind of pointless and if she was going to lie then she never should have bothered with this meeting in the first place.

Her expression shifting slightly as she looked out toward the distance before her eyes fell back on Rosalie, Svartalfheim cleared her thought before her vibrant purple eyes filled with a hint of excitement.

"I am not sure you'll believe the answers you seek but I come from Earth. It seems to contradict the idea that I made a pact to protect and uphold the law of the planet Saturn. As to why I am here, well, I've always been here! I am just a human, like yourself, nothing alien about my physical body or anything like that," she joked a bit on the last part, her weight shifting uneasily as the last question found itself front and center.

"The creatures are monsters," she said rather spitefully, her tone full of disgust. They were wrong and they didn't have a place in this world. Her body shifted again as she recalled the things she had seen before her lips parted to speak more. "They feast uninhibited upon the lives of the citizens of this city without any conscience, and if they're allowed to continue their existence I believe they will burn this city and eventually the world to the ground."

It was something she couldn't, absolutely wouldn't, allow to happen as both an officer of the law and a knight of saturn. This might not be the planet she swore to protect but it was still her home and that was all the reason she needed!

It wasn't exactly easy talking to Rosalie -- her arms crossed over her chest, her posture tight and closed off and unwelcoming, her mouth set into a decisive frown. It was, to be honest, the face of someone who simply didn't believe a word, simply wasn't having any of it. Even if, in fact, she was. It was, perhaps, a bit of Resting b***h Face syndrome.

Her silence after Svarta stopped talking might not help a whole lot, either. She looked down the street again -- still early enough that very few lights were on, very few other people were awake, no one bore witness to their little meeting. They had an hour, maybe, before the newspapers would come in. She didn't need to be paranoid.

All the same, she drew in a deep breath. "That's flowery. Are you saying that they eat people? In what way? And where do they come from?"

Nicole knew Rosalie enough to expect the response she got from her but Svartalfheim still found herself sighing outwardly at the silence provided by Rosalie. It was probably reasonable, given all of the things she was saying, but she didn't take Rosalie as a slow sort of person who needed to have her hand held.

Her paranoia was shared with Svartalfheim though, and when Rosalie looked Svartalfheim did the same. Finally when Rosalie replied, Svartalfheim was the one in silence. It wasn't particularly long but it was long enough for the page to properly gather an accurate response. She never simply spoke without thinking about what she was going to say, and when giving intel it seemed especially important to choose your words carefully.

"Yes," she said briefly before skipping along. "At least they eat parts of people. They don't seem to care very much about the body itself but more about what is found on the inside. It is beyond science, and you won't find it in any medical texts but I believe the term being used on the streets is 'starseed.' The best comparison I can make at the moment is that it is on a comparable level to what religion defines as a soul."

As if to give Rosalie a chance to absorb the information, or whether she was determining her next choice of words was uncertain but she did pause for a moment.

"From my observations removal of the 'starseed' is 100% fatal." She said sullenly, her smile only lingering slightly. "As for the creatures themselves, I have yet to determine where they come from."

She had an idea of a good place to start looking for answers but that was something she was not willing to drag Rosalie into.

"Demons?" A Catholic upbringing meant that Rosalie's thoughts went first to old scriptures, matching a picture of a monstrous, dripping-black creature to how she had always imagined demons during Sunday school, a child's imagination gone wild. She swiped at her hair, and was torn between fear and disbelief.

Her solution was mockery, a biting edge to her tone, chin tipped up and eyes flashing. She chose disbelief over fear, because it was more reasonable, pragmatic. Maybe. "And if they're Demons eating peoples' souls, I guess that would make you an angel."

No, so not demons. But something like. She waved off any reply, digging for a real question. "Can you kill them?"
PostPosted: Wed Jun 12, 2013 6:04 pm

Demons was a great term for what the creatures were, almost fitting the mental description that was set aside for them perfectly. If they didn't already have a name to go by, it was very likely people would call them demons. However, it didn't matter what they were called in the end. What mattered was Rosalie's next question.

"Yes," she said flatly. "You can definitely kill them."

She had, although she'd be a little disappointed to know they just reformed in the Rift.

"How?" As ever, she was direct -- and, perhaps, a bit impatient. Rosalie though the question should have been implied, and maybe this whole situation was making her antsy enough that it showed through in the sharpness of her town, and the flat frown on her face. She shook her head at Svarta, unfolding her arms to gesture at the Page's uniform

"More magic?"
PostPosted: Wed Jun 12, 2013 8:43 pm

The depth of Rosalie's question and her hint of impatience worried Svartalfheim. Were all these questions a lead up for Rosalie's inevitable plan to go after the youma? She might have been capable of fighting one a lower powered one given her profession but to be caught up in this... war... was not something Svartalfheim wanted a civilian, let alone someone she knew, to be forced into.

She'd seen the carnival. It was a slaughter. She didn't want to imagine Rosalie in such a situation. Crossing her arms over her chest with a small hint of an embarrassment linger over her face from the gesture of her clothes, Svartalfheim found herself at a cross in the road. She couldn't be the one to push Rosalie into this world.

"It's not your fight," she said like a mother telling her daughter what she could and could not do but her face just asked why. Why did Rosalie want to know so much? Why did she want to get involved? The world was a bad enough place without accepting monsters into it, and if Rosalie wanted to help there were plenty of things closer to her level of playing field she could do and she was already doing it as a bail enforcement officer!

That was exactly the wrong thing to say. It got a breath of anger, a heavy dose of frustration, her eyes flashing dangerously -- the perfect picture of challenged pride. It was an insult to her eyes, at least, and it made her tense in a way that was almost dangerous, jaw clenched.

"Not my fight? Really? But it's yours? Why would that be, exactly?" She took one step forward as she said it, entirely unintimidated by the page in front of her. "What makes you think you have any more right than I do to defend myself and the city around me from creatures that you have passionately said are dangerous?"

She reached out one hand to poke Svarta in the breastbone. "What makes you qualified?"
