Pompeii knew the practice wasn’t over but with how badly the first fight went part of her wished it was just so she could go home and do a bit more reading about fights. With a resigned sigh she watched as Maia finished up her fight then announced the pairings for the second one. Chaldene? She tried to remember if she met Chaldene before or at least saw him during the brief time before they were split up with their sparing partners… she didn’t think so.

Standing around a bit uncertainly Pompeii took better stock of her surroundings. It appeared to be a gym with folding bleachers, a few gymnastic stuff in the corner like a pommel horse, and the mats which were scattered across the floor currently being used by the knights, senshi, and chibi senshi that showed up to the practice. Pompeii nodded goodbye to Luxor, her first partner, and began to make her way through the crowed trying to read the name tags that some still wore. Reminded of the tags she checked to see if she still had hers. She did but it was a bit wrinkled and seemed to have shifted some from its original position on her, off center right over her heart. She could only hope that Chaldene still had his name tag, or knew who she was because Pompeii really didn’t want to be the only other person just standing there while everyone else had started their second match.

Of course not, he'd done a good job at trying to avoid people and hiding. He'd have done a better job had that blond not approached him nor Sheena. But now with the announcement of his second fight he looked around utterly lost, who was Pompeii? Were they male or female even?

Looking around he felt himself shrinking in on himself and unconsciously backing up closer to a wall. He really felt so odd right now. He knew he still had his name tag on, and he really did dislike it, but he hoped it would come in handy right now and allow this Pompeii person to find him - he didn't feel much like leaving his spot.

His first spar had gone well, it had been tame almost, but that was good as he disliked fighting and hurting people. It also had him feeling more comfortable about this than he had upon arriving, though that didn't mean he was going to attempt to be some social butterfly. He wasn't a social person, and he doubted he ever would be, being a senshi was just another place where he'd meet people and talk to them and than go on about his way. He had no plans, as of now, to actually make friends. It wasn't that he didn't want friends it was just that he lacked the abilities to make them, and he got too nervous and had other hang ups. If only one of his civilian friends was a senshi or a knight. They could introduce him to who they knew...and then he'd have friends!

Looking up he tried to discreatly read other peoples tags in the hopes of finding this Pompeii person. He really hoped they weren't gung ho about this sort of thing and kicked his a**, he really didn't want to get into anything serious. Did this make him a bad senshi? He really didn't care if it did. He cared about other senshi, like the first one he'd met, and he did want to learn everything he could. But did he want to fight or learn to? Nope, not really. And yet he also knew there would be a night that someone from the other side would come after him and he'd need to have some clue. And so he continued to look and scan the name tags of people.

Pompeii was about to give up and sit in the corner watching the others spar, hoping to pick up tips and avoid Maia or Zia. She didn't need lecturing from the younger ladies about how she needed to learn to fight, Pompeii knew that... but she also didn't want to look like a fool standing in the middle of the crowed gym as everyone else found their partners and started fighting, leaving Pompeii all alone. It would just be a repeat of elementary school, when they all played dodge ball and neither team would pick her.

With a self conscious shrug Pompeii made her way over to the wall, hoping to avoid the hawk eye of Maia. When she was nearly there she spotted a young man in white, a guy that she hadn't seen before. Could he be Chaldene? 'Nothing ventured, nothing gained' With a mental sigh and a visible straightening of her spine, Pompeii approached the young man. "Chaldene?"

In school he'd never minded dodge ball, even if he never got picked first. He'd actually been fairly normal till it came to school teams and school spirit and all that nonsense. He'd never been big with school spirit, home coming, and all those things. Maybe because he just wasn't part of that crowd, the sports players and such, or maybe it was just too much socialness for him.

So standing here wasn't such an odd thing for him, not really, he'd done it in gym once he'd hit high school and even at the end of middle school - by his choice. Hearing his name he looked up and nodded. "Yeah...Pompeii?" He asked. Well, it seemed she'd found him and he now knew that Pompeii was female. That helped and answered the gender question, since ones name didn't give a hint at gender.

Pushing away from the wall he walked toward her. "Ready?"

sorry about the delay sleet ^^'

With a sigh of relief Pompeii sighed, she had found her sparring partner and now it was time to begin… but how? She nodded as she said, “As much as I’ll ever be.” Fighting didn’t come naturally to her. There were a few memorable times in middle school when she got in a few fights but it was more pulling hair and screeching in each other’s ears… and Pompeii didn’t think ether of those tactics would work in this situation.

She walked over to a mat that had been placed for the last sparing match and stood there uncertainly. “To be honest I don’t really know what to do.” She fiddled with the gray ruffles on her bodice and nudged the blue springy surface with her purple heels. Pompeii knew she was more of a research or tactics part of a group if ever anyone wanted her to be part of one but even if Pompeii was more of a mental person she knew that knowing the basics of fighting was just as important. She just really needed to figure out how to fight properly.

Fighting wasn't a natural thing for him either. It felt odd to go from talking to taking a swing at someone, felt disjointed and out of place, but it seemed that was what was expected. To say hi and get to sparing, how very odd it felt.

He'd seen plenty of fights but he avoided getting into them in school, he avoided verbal ones even. His friends still didn't get it, at least not fully, as they still tried to drag him into the middle of things from time to time. Eventually he hoped they'd get it and he could be left in peace, let them all fight where he couldn't see or hear it.

"Neither do I but I suppose the answer is simple - one of us aims to strike the other and we go from there. it simply feels very odd." But it was what they should do. So after a moment, or a few moments, he came at the knight with a fist, oh he hoped she didn't get his piercings...the idea was sudden and out of no where. But it was true.

Pompeii nodded, that was the general bases of a fight... to harm the other person one way or another, but she didn't think Maia would appreciate them hurdling insults at each other. She got into what she believed was a ready position, knees bent and feet spread, one fist up protecting her face while the other was a little bit farther out. She was ready when Chaldene came at her with a fist. With her left hand she blocked it and tried to return the punch with her right, leaving herself open for a counter attack. She didn't really want to hurt him so she didn't put a lot of force behind it, or speed, but at least it was better then her first attack in her first sparring match with Luxor. Being scolded by Zia was not something Pompeii wanted to do again.

Having not been scolded, or shown how to really fight, he really didn't expect to do much damage. But he did know an opening when he saw one. So even though Pompeii blocked his attack, and even countered and hit him, he was able to do just what he'd done in his last fight - stomp on a foot of hers. It was a cheap move but it was still something, that and he knew you could really hurt a persons foot if you hit the right area and did so hard enough. His mother was a nurse and there were just some things you couldn't help but pick up, he heard enough stories from his mother about people coming in with all manner of injuries caused by some of the oddest things.

Stepping back he rubbed at his face where the female knights fist had struck. "Not bad..." And it really wasn't. It wasn't too hard, thankfully, just like he hadn't been hard on her foot either. He wasn't aiming to injure or hurt.

sorry about the delay sleet T.T my arm was not terribly happy about the very many hours on the computer

Pompeii's flash of pleasure over her strike landing was quickly swamped by the surprise and pain of having her foot stomped on. "Yaouch" She quickly hoped away and in a strangely gumby like move she bent her one good leg to lift her squished foot and rub it. "Nope... man your foot hurts." Pompeii made a face before standing on both feet again. "You know that kinda reminds me of SING from that movie... Miss Congeniality or something like that. With that lady..." Pompeii waved off the thought and finished where she was going with it in the first place. "You know Solar plexus... Instep... Nose... Groin."

Sadly this was just about the extent of her fighting know how, other then the odd tidbits she had picked up from books and movies.

He wanted to laugh, he felt it bubbling up, but squashed it as he watched the knight hop away and bend down to inspect her foot. "Yeah...I've got nice solid shoes. Though I suspect your heels would do more damage to my foot." He answered honestly before he shook his head. "I don't know that movie." He said. He'd heard of it, when it had first come out in theaters - not that he remembered it. But he had never seen it, it wasn't his sort of movie.

"Yeah...those places are all weak spots. I did make sure not to hit too hard though..." And he could try and take advantage of her right now but he didn't - wouldn't.

For an absurd moment Pompeii wanted to mention that he was right since the area of her heal smaller verses his shoe, it would indeed cause more damage if the same amount of pressure was applied. Instead she nodded and steadied herself, trying to think of her next move. “I only saw it in passing while it was on TV. And you didn’t. Hit too hard that is.” The thoughts were sort of disjointed but to her they made sense and as she finished talking she started to move.

Pompeii dodged to the right trying to get to the side of him. And with a little luck she would be able to slip her leg behind his and push him over. It would take timing and finesse, neither of which she had in great supply but maybe with some luck she could pull the move off anyway. Then again with her luck she might end up face down in the mat, sadly it wouldn’t be the first time.

"I see. I normally watch movies online or go to the theater to see something." As he wasn't very social he tended to go to late night screenings of movies by himself, and sit in the way back to avoid people seeing him all alone there. He only did that with movies he really wanted to see, like had to see right that instant, otherwise he waited till they came out and then viewed them online.

"I'm glad. I didn't want to hurt your foot too much." As she moved to the right he anticipated her trying to strike out at him, with a fist, and went to tilt his head back and to the side, to avoid it, and instead found himself heading toward the ground as his balance was robbed of him. As he went down he reached out to drag her with him.

its cool and i agree ^^ i think three more, maybe four should wrap it nicely. xd

“I’m more of an internet or TiVo person myself.” Pompeii shrugged; she didn’t like having strangers crowed into a movie theater even if the anonymity worked well with feeling of being alone. She hated to share her arm rest. “But sometimes I stick the TV on a random station for some background noise. I’ve watched some odd things that way. There is a really strange network called Spike TV and I have to say their show ‘1000 Ways To Die’ is rather informative. I was not aware just how stupid some people were and how much karma can factor into things. However I do wonder a bit how much of the background of the ‘victims’ is made up for ratings because it’s the human condition to enjoy bad guys get their comeuppance.” She blushed as she realized that she had just rambled on and on while they were trying to spar.

Pompeii was surprised when her attack worked. Chaldene was heading for the mat and she placed him there. Maybe fighting wasn’t as hard as it looked, then again maybe not. She was so focused on the fact that she had taken him down that she hadn’t realized he had grabbed her sleeve and the force of his fall was enough to off balance her as well. Taken by surprise she started to fall right on top of Chaldene unable to catch herself without using him as the bracing. With a gasp she flung out her hand hoping to stop in time before her face met the mat or worse, she ended up sprawled on top of the younger man.

"I do that as well; random channels as background noise." And he had to agree about coming up with some interesting, and informative, tv shows. Though most of the time it was done to drown out the sound of his raging drunk of a father. Other times it was just as background noise as he typed, and tapped, away at his computer. Normally he caught history pieces, political shows, things on nature and then all the murder mysteries and such. Watching Deadly Women, Behind Mansion Walls and other such shows were personal favorites that he tried to watch or at least listen to.

"Mmm, I've never seen that show, or heard of it. But I can imagine people liking to watch it and them playing up, or inventing, certain things so the deaths are seen as karmic." It was in human nature right? The same reason people wanted murderers to be sentenced to death. And the same reason people watched a show like that was why people slowly went by a car accident. It was just how people were; even if it bothered him that people were that way. Wasn't there an old saying about people stopping to watch a train wreck?

With a gasp the air left his lungs as he stared up, towed the ceiling, with wide green eyes. He should have figured she'd land on top of him, and maybe he had, but he really hadn't thought of how hard she might hit him. When he finally got air back into his lungs he turned his eyes to the top of her head. "your able to get up, right?" He asked, concern touching his voice. "Perhaps it's time we end this."

"Its the sense of morbid curiosity and your right, a good dose of karmic vengeance always makes people happy." Pompeii didn't really understand it much since she had not actually read up on the psychological reasoning behind it but she knew that it was human nature to sympathies with others while secretly pleased that it was not themselves dealing with the hardships. It was different when it is a bad person dealing with pain and then normal people feel like they got what they deserve. The human mind was complicated and vast... it wasn't something that Pompeii understood well sadly.

After the surprise of landing on the floor again it took her a moment to realize that she hadn't quite done a face plant into the mat, rather it was a face plant into the chest of Chaldene. With a bright red face she scrambled off of him as fast as she could go stammering apologies. "I'm fine... fine... sorry... so sorry." She stopped and rested her burning face against her drawn up knees trying to get her composure back together.

Pompeii had dealt with guys before, had even had a few boyfriends, but it was different to land on top of a guy that you had just met and add to the fact that he was likely younger then her buy quite a few years and her mortification was complete. Briefly she wondered, in a detached moment, if her reaction would be stronger or weaker if Chaldene was closer to her age. Takeing a deep breath and after composing herself she looked up and even though a blush was riding high on her cheeks she nodded. "Yes, I think here is a good point to end. You fight really well and I think you might be the victor in this match."
