It'd been almost a week since Dakota's party, which meant it'd almost been a week since he'd last seen Candace. It bothered him to think about it - he'd meant to reach out sooner, let her know that he was thinking about her. Things had gotten a little hectic here and there, so he hadn't really hadk a chance. Tuck only hoped that she wasn't pissed at him or worse, hurt by his lack of communication. He'd never been the type of guy to ignore any female he'd been involved with, even when said involvement was over - and he didn't intend on starting that now.

He also didn't want her to think that he'd used her purely for sex - not that there was anything wrong with that. What they'd done together had been mutually satisfying. Still, she deserved more than a 'hit it and quit it' - it was something he'd like to repeat in the future.

With that thought in mind, Tuck sent Candace a text.

Hey, Candygirl. You hear about this Argus testing? Want to boss me around the jungle a little? (;

Meet me at the Argus labs. I've attached the coordinates just in case you need them.

How To Test The Argus
To run a test, create a new PRP for it, much like you would a training course. One participant is in the labs wearing the Argus equipment, and the other is outside in the jungle.

Pilots will roll 1d100, and both hunters will respond to the corresponding prompt each time before a new roll. Hunters cannot see one another, but can communicate over headsets to inform each other of what's going on... or anything else they want to talk about.

The test is over when you have found 5 capsules, or if the assisting hunter in the jungle hits 0HP.

1-10 - Success! Your partner finds a fear capsule hidden in the branches of a tree.
11-20 - Your partner hears something click underfoot, and has the good sense to START RUNNING. A small, experimental runic mine detonates close behind them. -25% HP
21-30 - Success! Your partner finds a fear capsule hidden in the branches of a tree.
31-40 - Your partner didn’t find a capsule... but they did find an old (deactivated!) runic-powered trap. Guess this isn’t the first test done out here in the woods.
41-50 - Success! Your partner finds a fear capsule nestled in a pile of rocks.
51-60 - A wave of thick fog rolls in, disorienting your partner. You’ll have to pilot the Argus back to them - and now you’ve lost the signal. Better luck next time?
61-70 - Your partner didn’t find a capsule... but they did find an ACTIVE trap. And by find, they mean stepped right into. Ouch. -25% HP
71-80 - Success! Your partner finds a fear capsule hidden under leaves.
81-90 - ZZZZT - the screen is starting to glitch out on you. Your partner narrowly avoids a several foot drop hidden by bushes while following your directions.
91-100 - Your partner’s searching disturbs a nest of shadowlings. They’ll have to fend them off before you can keep searching. HP: 10, auto damage 5.

Had Tuck apologized he would have received an amused response from the woman. While he seemed to be a nice guy it didn't break Candace's heart that he hadn't called or texted her afterward; she didn't expect him to, she hadn't offered him any semblance of commitment. Plus, she had been busy working on getting settled with the new Mists and getting a good judge on how to train them.

She had been curled up on her couch writing out notes when she heard her phone go off, blindly reaching for it and checking it with a curiously little hum. Who was texting her?

She smirked.

So you're one of those kinds of men. Sure, I'll be there soon.

Candace was curious how this was going to go down. She'd heard of the Argus testing but she hadn't looked into it yet. It was because of this that she didn't want to keep Tuck waiting too long if he arrived before she did, that and it was impolite to do that.

Tuck laughed at Candace's text. He'd never considered himself one of those men in most respects, really, but there was something about ...

He coughed, refusing himself to get all sorts of distracted before they even started training. Tuck cleared his throat and crossed his arms over his chest while he waited for her to show (he hadn't been expecting her to turn him down, after all) and tried to think about other things as opposed to the ways they'd entertained themselves...

Aaaaaand there he went again.

Grandmas. Puppies. T-bone steaks. Roadkill. All boner-repellants. Well, except for the t-bone steak, if properly cooked, maybe with some mushrooms and onions and...

That was marginally better.

Ah, there he was. She smiled and waved a hand to get his attention. "Hey there, handsome." Candace purred as she approached Tuck, stopping in front of him to lean up and give him a kiss. "Hope I didn't keep you waiting. So what's this about bossing you around?"

Tuck let out a low rumble of appreciation when he saw Candace, one that grew even louder when she pressed her lips to his.

He looked entirely too distracted by the time she pulled away, and it took Tuck a few seconds to remember why they were there.

"Ahh, yeah. I heard about this training, and if you want to get suited up, I'll head into the jungle while you use the disc to look for ... capsules, or whatever."

His voice took on a hopeful tone.

"Or we could just go back to my room?"

Tuck grinned.

"You smell good."

It wasn't obvious if he was talking about the way she smelled now, or the way she'd smelled when.. well.

"Distractin' me."
PostPosted: Sun May 26, 2013 7:41 pm

Aww, he was so hopeful. That was so cute! Candace laughed and pat his chest, keeping her hand there and giving Tuck a little smile and a wink. "Maybe after if you're good," she promised him. Candace was pleased by the compliment though. This was going to be interesting.

"I'm good at that. You know where to go?" Candace stepped away to look into getting suited up, playfully dragging her fingers across Tuck's chest as she stepped around him. She was purposely distracting him now, curious to see how much she could distract him before he tried to make them stop what they were doing.

She wouldn't, Candace did want to see what this Argus was, but she would let him try.

Tuck gave her a** a wistful look as she turned to make her way into the underground room that housed the Argus, and he very nearly followed after her. He took a step forward, then another, eyes locked on dat a** before he came to his senses and glanced up at her.

A slow smile came over his face, and Tuck nodded.

"I'ma be real good," he purred, pulling the headset that he'd nabbed from his pocket before situating it on his head. "I'll wait to hear from you on comms," Tuck continued, dimples cutting deep grooves in his cheeks, "an' you can talk dirty to me if you want."

This was..strange. Candace gave her hands an experimental flex and clenching motion once they were on, looking around after her headset had been hooked up. This was really strange. "Dirty talk is something you've got to earn from me, darlin'." She grinned. "But we'll see. Let me get used to all of this firs--oh look, I can see your..weapon." No, really. All she could see was a weapon. This was kind of unsettling.

She really did not like being able to see everything Tuck was going to be going through. Maybe it would've been a better idea if she had gone into the jungle and Tuck piloted the Argus. "Hmm...what does the orange mean aga--oh..oh wait..Tuck look out!"

He had no idea what was coming, and had been prepared to make a pretty sexy comeback until suddenly there were shadowlings. Herryk's blade sang through the air before decimating a good group of the little shadows - but it wasn't enough. He could hear the shifting in the shadows, but Tuck couldn't see a damn thing.

He could feel the ********, though.

"Talk to me, Candygirl. I can't see s**t. Where're they at?"

"Behind you. They're small, so I don't think I need to come get you or anything." They didn't look much bigger than the shadowlings in the Mist or Sun training courses. Thank god, she didn't want to see Tuck get hurt just doing what was supposed to be a simple research mission.

Candace really wasn't sure whether she liked piloting this thing or not yet. Listening and not being able to see or help with what was happening was not high on her list of things she liked.

Tuck wielded Herryk like an extension of himself, and the large man swung his weapon around almost gracefully, cutting down any remaining shadowlings that might've lingered.

A low grunt sounded over the headset, followed by a, "We clear, Legs?"

Candace watched the glowing blue swing and completely obliterate all the orange figures in one clean sweep. She actually stopped and just stared, replaying that little memory in her head. That...that was actually a really beautiful sight, to just watch the glows move on the screen and interact with each other. The Mist huntress smiled, a smile that changed from fond to amused when she heard Tuck grunt. "That's a nice sound you just made," she teased with a playful purr, looking over the screen for any sign of the capsules.

"Yes, you're clear. Turn to your right and then keep going straight, I'll tell you when to get ready to turn again."

So the actual visuals themselves were kind of nice, she'd give them that, because watching that blue glow sweep through and destroy all of the orange like nothing was a very, very lovely sight to behold, but Candace was not liking just sitting here and doing nothing.

The screen flashed and clicked. Candace blinked. "Wh--oh..okay, good." The screen was back. That was okay. "All right...now, you're going to turn left soo--the ********> The screen cut out. "Stop walking now." Candace refused to let him move until the screen stopped ******** cutting out.

Tuck laughed softly at her teasing comment, easily following her directions while he let himself be distracted by his own thoughts.

"You made plenty'a nice sounds," he growled playfully into the headset, vaulting over a low-lying log before continuing forward.

As the bushes grew thicker, it was more and more difficult to see exactly where he was going. His footsteps faltered when her commands did, and when Candace told him to stop, he did - just in time to avoid a rough looking tumble down a small ravine hidden by the thick bushes.

"Yes, ma'am," Tuck took a few steps back, taking a moment to glance around the jungle's dense underbrush.

"Ah, yes. You're not the first to tell me I make lovely sounds," Candace chuckled, letting someone else try and fix her screen. She had no idea how it worked. "Remember, if you're good you get to hear them again after this." She was a woman of her word, and Tuck was fun to play with.

Oh, she did like the sound of 'yes, ma'am'. It made her grin, but for now she said nothing. Instead she found herself distracted with the appearance of a few orange glows near Tuck. "Shadowlings, nine o'clock." At least the screen worked again. "Tell me if your fear shield gets to a point you're not comfortable anymore, okay? Looks like someone's a little lax on jungle post duty today."

Oh, he was gonna hear those noises again. There was little doubt in Tuck's mind.

He sent the axe slamming into a small group of shadowlings, Herryk's blade cutting deep into a nearby tree. As he struggled to free the weapon, Tuck called out over comms, "I think they're at my six. Confirm?"

Herryk was well and truly stuck; if Tuck had to desummon the weapon, he would, but at the same time he'd much rather not.
