Tonight Merlinite was going to win a fight, and win it handily! There were too many losses in his average and he was just not going to take it any more.
Besides, if he beat information out of someone, so much the better. Zink would be proud of him, but so would others, the higher ups that he had met so far. Captains and Generals that just wanted him to be strong and successful. Which was great, because that was exactly what he wanted, too.
He leaped over a trash can, just to see if he could, laughing as he stuck the landing and throwing his hands up in the air. This super power thing was awesome, and he was getting more and more into it. Chaos was great. Why call it corruption when all it did was give someone a purpose, a great purpose, and make them a super hero? Or villain, he supposed.
Really, it depended on what side of the fence you were sitting on, and what view you got.
He made to leap at the ladder on the side of a building, climbing up to the fire escape with little effort, leaping and grabbing on to the next level from the outside, climbing up to the roof the hard way. It was invigorating, though, and he took a triumphant breath of air as he stood on the roof and looked around.

Landing on the rooftop, Ida was startled to feel a low level negaverse agent nearby... so nearby in fact that within moments he had popped up over the edge of the roof. Wary, the super senshi took a loose, defensive stance, ready to move if the need arose.
"Hey!" She called, her weight rolling from her heels to her toes, her arms hanging loose by her sides. "Who are you?"
With her experiences lately, she wasn't sure what to do with this lone officer... he didn't look like he was causing any trouble directly. If he had been attacking someone she would have stopped him, of course... but he appeared to be alone. That didn't mean he wouldn't be causing trouble later, though. It wasn't normally her policy to attack without reason, but recent events were starting to change how she approached what she saw as her duty.

The Camouflage clad Negaverse Lieutenant spotted the senshi, since her aura and proximity made her very difficult to miss even if he was trying to, and grinned at her broadly. He even lifted his hand to wave at her, though it was not to stop a fight or offer peace.
He was not interested in talking, like some of his cohorts were. And he was not interested in blind murder like some of the higher ups were, either. No, he hoped to strike a balance somewhere between. Violence was useful as a tool for extracting the information one wanted from a victim.
But taking it too far or not going far enough would never work out. He was still working on figuring out where that line was, though.
Because he also had to factor in not getting his butt handed to him constantly, too.
"Well hello there! My name is Merlinite. And who are you?" She looked innocent and cute in her purple fuku, but her aura, which he was finally learning how to read a bit better, warned him that she was stronger than he was. That did not mean she was unbeatable, though, and he did not immediately feel fear.

Learning where that line was seemed to be as much a concern for Ida as it was for the new officer. Fighting was not her nature, but protecting people was. Was it better to attack first, or to give them the benefit of the doubt? At least this one didn't seem intent on striking first, which was good.
"I am Super Sailor Ida." She said as she braced her hands on her hips, relaxing every so slightly. Not as far as letting her guard down, but not really expecting an attack. "I'm the senshi of Orchids. I'm also the protector of this particular area, so if you're looking for trouble, you should really go somewhere else."
Maybe she could warn him off, send him somewhere else... At least this area would be safe. With her home not that many blocks from here, it seemed the best option. He really hadn't done anything yet and she wouldn't feel right striking first.

"If I'm looking for trouble why should I go somewhere else? Looks like I found exactly what I was looking for, and now I even know where to come to find you again!" He would save that information for his boss. He found a senshi and knew her name and knew where she liked to patrol. That was good for the information collecting thing, right?
Maybe he could learn more about her. Or, if he was really good, actually beat her. He was itching for a good fight, though he knew that technically he was supposed to be quiet and subtle to get the information he needed.
Eh! Everyone had their own methods. He was finding his: and it was violent.
"Come on, lady! Let's go!" He ran at her, calling his baton to his dominate hand so he could swing it at her. It was not the most dangerous weapon out there, more a plastic stick than anything else, but it still definitely helped add some extra power to his punch.

Well, crap... it seemed she was just full of ideas that never panned out. That was rather the opposite of what she had hoped would happen... but that didn't mean the flower senshi was going to back down from a fight. If she had to beat him down to teach him to avoid this place, well... then she would do what she had to do.
"I'm not going easy on you! This is your last warning to leave!" She shouted as he ran at her, forcing her to jump backwards to avoid his swing. Ida put a little distance between them, giving him a chance... his next movement towards her would be met with her own rush at him, her forearms held parallell to each other across her chest as she all but tackled him. It was an odd sight, such a slight girl taking that sort of an offensive, but she knew her increased strength would make up for her lack of height and weight.

Merlinite grinned wickedly at her, gripping his baton and looking eager. He was a little Lieutenant, new to the whole thing and excited to make his way, carve a place. He was going to make himself someone to rival, someone to look up to.
Even if he was starting from the bottom.
"Last warning? How nice of you! But that's one too many. You think I'm some push over just because your rank is better than mine? I'm a Negaverse soldier, b***h! I won't be stopped!"
He laughed as she charged at him and met him half way, faster than he anticipated by his charge alone. He felt them both collide, letting one of his arms meet hers like they were both wielding half hidden blades they were about to pull on each other. His other hand, though, wielding the baton, lashed out low, for her side.
"What makes you the lord of this area, anyway? What high horse did you fall off of, thinking you can chase me off?"

Ida grunted softly as they colided, arms crossed as it became a contest of strength. This was very much outside of her normal comfort zone, but there was no backing out now.
b***h?! The mouth he had on him... "Your mother should wash your mouth out with soap!" She gasped as he swung at her, hissing through her teeth in pain as he struck her still tender side. Dang it... when would that stop being her weak point? Trying to ignore the pain, she shoved him, hard, and jumped back to put a little space between them.
"It doesn't matter where I am. If there are people like you around, preying on innocents, then that's all the reason I need to be there, stopping you. You're the lowest sort of person... these people never did anything to you, they're just living their lives and you're all trying to take that away! As long as I can still fight, I won't let you have everything you're way." Ida said, feeling a strong conviction as she spoke.
"What gives you the right to hurt people?" She knew that pain and felt a throb in her chest where her starseed rested. She'd felt a hand thrust into her chest, squeezing it... she'd felt the pain before of being drained... she'd do anything to keep it from happening to anyone else.

"I'm old enough not to need my mother telling me what to do, little girl. Are you hoping mommy might come in to tell me off? Get you out of here before you get yourself into some real trouble?"
He grinned. Trouble was something he was growing ever increasingly fond of. Fighting senshi, maybe even killing them. Dragging information out of them. He had not been able to do that yet, not the way he wanted to, but he would soon. And it would be awesome.
Maybe this little flower had something he needed to learn about? Something important to say, that she wouldn't be able to without the proper... persuasion.
There really was only one way to find out.
"Lowest person? That's just mean. There's no reason to get insulting about it, little girl. Can't we just agree that we're both just doing our jobs? Without me, you'd be pretty bored, right?" He didn't think he needed to have a right to hurt people: it was just something he did. Did animals need a right to hunt one another? Was nature a right?
"Let's stop chatting, and get to business. I'm going to drain your energy, and leave you for whoever wants my sloppy seconds." He laughed and swung for her once again.

Anger was something of an unusual emotion for Ida to feel. Fear, yes, desperation, yes... the need to protect, of course! But anger? For someone who seemed to not have a single mean bone in her body, anger was a rare thing. And yet, this man brought it out of her. He seemed to enjoy what he was doing, seemed to have no concept of how wrong it was, and what's more, he seemed to enjoy taunting her as well. Little girl... she might not be strong like Tsui or tall and graceful like Aventine, but she had never considered herself 'little'. He made it sound like she was a child, trying to face off against an adult.
Obviously, he was still rather new to this. It made her want to teach him how wrong he was, another foreign emotion to her.
"Better people than you have tried, and failed. But come on then." She said as her hands tightened into fists and she rushed him again. This time she was fast, as fast as a super senshi could be, and she put that strength into her punches too as she gave him a flurry of blows to deal with. This was not how she normally fought, but there was a first time for everything, of course. She was tired of dealing with the Negaverse, of seeing people hurt and scared. She was tired of being one of them and more than anything, she wanted to stop it all from happening. If that meant by force, then so be it.

Merlinite was oblivious to most things. His own limitations not least of all. He was under the impression that he could never lose, he could never fail. He was strong, he was determined, and he was learning every day. What else was there that he needed to do? He was already kicking some butt, he just needed to get some good victories under his belt. Some really impressive ones.
Against people stronger than him. That would certainly give him some clout.
It turned out there were downsides to targeting opponents of a higher rank. They had more perks than he did. She was faster than him, faster than he had anticipated. And she hit pretty damn hard. It was mostly a blur for him, and in no time he was down on the ground, his head spinning, and he lost track of where the floor and sky were. He grunted, pushing his hands under him.
He found he couldn't get up, though, spitting blood on the pavement.
"What the hell? I thought you guys were supposed to be good guys."

Ida froze the moment she saw the droplets of bright red on the ground, her eyes widening as a look of horror flitted across her face before it closed up and she pressed her lips into a thin line. She had never hurt someone so badly before that she had drawn blood... and not too long ago, she would have said that she never intentionally hurt anyone, but this war was doing things to her, changing the way she thought about things. She felt disgusted by what she had done and her hands started to shake as she struggled to push down the rush of emotion that threatened to choke her up. Ah, there was the guilt...
"I am a good guy... you're the one that attacked me, remember? And your side is the one hurting innocent people, people who can't defend themselves!" Yes, blame it all on him... because that made it so much better. Ida had to summon up again all the many reasons why she was doing this, because it was starting to feel far too much like maybe she wasn't as righteous as she had thought. "I want you to leave now. Go back to wherever it is you people come from. If you ever come back here... well, you'll get worse than that."
It was a slim hope that he would be smart enough to pay heed to what she said, but at least it was something. If she never saw him again, she would never be reminded about how she had beat down someone weaker than she was... as rare as it was to find one of those.

Some information, Merlinite was finding, did not come from being told. It came from observing, from pushing buttons. This senshi looked hurt that she had injured him. She looked upset by his words and she defended herself like he had told her she was the devil itself.
She was blaming him for the bad she saw in herself, because she had been made to attack him. It wasn't his fault she felt that was how she needed to react! He was just doing his job.
He grinned.
Blood was dripping down his face and he knew he was beaten tonight, but he'd gotten some good information out of her. A tactic he could try on others, that he hadn't thought of before. Guilt.
"Alright, I'll go right now, but I'm not going to stay gone." He stumbled away from her, shaking his head. "Well, not for long anyway."

Ida had to resist the urge to slink away now that he said he was leaving. It would have been the easy way out and only shown him how much of a coward she really was. So instead, she made herself watch as he left, keeping a wary eye on him.
She was going to have to deal with these feelings of guilt eventually... She could afford to be worried about how she was treating the officers, when so many of them had proven just how much harm they wished on her. Chaonis wouldn't have cared, he would have just beaten the weaker officer to a pulp. That didn't mean, of course, that she felt any better about all of this.
Ida narrowed her eyes and crossed her arms under her chest as she watched Merlinite retreat. She honestly hoped he wouldn't come back here. She would do what she had to, but it would have just been so much easier if she could write him off as someone else's problem.
