So Peyton had figured out how everyone had a weapon partner with them 24/7, without having a visible weapon on their person. Warrick wasn't exactly an obtrusive weapon to start, but Pey could see how walking around with a pair of brass knuckles, no matter how awesome, could become cumbersome after a while. She was grateful for the ability of the former wrath demon to shrink himself down into a pair of common gold thumb rings.

She had spent the entirety of her trek from cove to dorm finding out whatever she could about her weapon and what he could remember about what, and who, he used to be. That conversation had been placed on the back burner once the new hunter had entered her new dorm room and found a white coat folded on her bed along with a scarf, and cell phone, and a bag she'd actually forgotten she'd packed.

After a change of clothes she was on her way back out into the hall, intent on exploring a bit before turning in for the night. Pausing just outside her door she pulled her new coat on, drawing the hood up. What do you think, War? Where should we go first?

<That's your call, pipsqueak.> A pause, and then, <Don't look now.>

Rep's ill mood hadn't really improved much since his nice peaceful reverie in the pod rooms had turned into a not so peaceful ********. Mostly he was angry at himself for even considering harming one of the sleepers, one of the very human sleepers. If he'd been able to murder an old woman with a flick of the blade as a trainee, it didn't speak well for anything what he could be capable of now. He was lucky he hadn't broken anything just by picking the insubordinate little s**t up.

After the shenanigans, he had stopped by the cafeteria to get himself a soothing mug of hot chocolate, and now cradled the sparkly mug with a dragon on it like it was a blessed lifeline. The sugar in his system made him almost believe he could be ******** dealing with things today and prevented him from simply turning around and heading back to bed again.

When Pey emerged from her new room, Rep was just on his way to the common room to sit down. Spotting her, he stopped in his tracks, looking for a moment as if he was strongly considering just walking on and pretending he hadn't seen her.

"Oh for ******** sake." he said. "You are in Sun."

He felt vaguely beholden to people in Sun, whether presently part of that division or not.

Two voices at the rookie Sun turning to stare down the hall at the red head. The sight of him had lavender eyes narrowing, but since her head no longer felt like someone was trying to drill into it she was in a much better mood then she'd woken up in. The glare lasted only a second, then her expression softened into neutrality as she offered him a nod.

His comment did spark the girl's curiosity though, and she blinked down at herself, tugging at the side of her coat so she could see the golden sun embossed on the back of it. "Yeah, looks like it."

<I don't think he likes you much.>

I know he doesn't like me much.

Memory stirred, she pursed her lips. "Isn't that one guy a Sun?" A brief pause while she tried to recall the name that went with the guitar and face. "Jerry?" Oh s**t.. Not even the end of day one,and she'd already managed to annoy someone that seemed to be one of her acting superiors. If not someone directly in charge of her, then at least someone with seniority. And power.

The thought made her lip twitch. She'd have to hunt the bespectacled man down later for some damage control.

Rep eyed the trainee coat with a very deep sense of longing. He remembered his own and how flippant he'd been about it at first, just a stupid emblem and a stupid coat, and how it had grown up to be his entire world, and how losing it had been like losing some part of his soul. It made him angry to think that this woman - inferior by her gender - could be considered more worthy to be a Sun than he was.

"Jerry's a Sun aye. So was I." So he still was in his mind, finding it hard to deal. "Jerr's one of the most senior members in the Sun division. Grats, you are part of the division which has the highest death toll in Deus. The meat grinder. You'll learn to like, survive and s**t, or you'll be just another statistic on Simon's books. As a b***h you are probably ******** already."

He shrugged. "Have you looked around this shithole yet?"

Rep's intense eyeing of her coat had her looking back down at it in the search for some imperfection, be it stain or tear. It would be just her luck that she managed to ruin the thing within minutes of having it. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with it though, so she gave the taller man an inquiring look before he pretty much answered any question she might have had in that immediate moment.

"I see." Well that explained the staring. Apparently the red head had liked being in Sun. Her arms crossed as she listened to his description of the division she knew found herself in, and blonde brows disappeared under her bangs at the mention of a high death toll. That sounded fun.

As for the rest of it, Pey had been dealing with s**t her entire life. Too short, too awkward, she was always having to fend off some b***h or bully, so she was no stranger to physical altercations.

Lips pursed at being referred to as a b***h for what felt like the dozenth time that day, but she was starting to think that there was no point in contradicting him. He clearly had a superiority complex where women were concerned, and nothing she said was going to change that. It was better, for the time being, to ignore it. Instead she answered his question, shoulders rolling in a shrug. "No, I was just about to go do that."

"There's no a ******** huge amount to know really." Rep said with a shrug. "The island's pretty big, but most of it is ******** jungle. Where we are is the dormitory buildings - ******** obviously - the other major buildings are HQ, where all the top brass are based, and the Life labs, where all the tech we use comes from. I'm Life division, the Labs are where I hang out most of the ******** time. There's also the cafeteria and training area which are two ******** major places."

He shrugged. "I've no got much else to do, I could show you about. It's that or clean some minipet cages, and that can ******** wait."

Her fingers flicked as he talked, one lifting after the other and seemingly random intervals. It wasn't completely obvious, her arms were folded after all, but she wasn't hiding it.

Along with the finger flicks she nodded, making mental notes to remember the key things he was telling her about. When he had finished she gave a little nod, unfolded her arms, then flexed the fingers that were now extended. "Six," she said simply, the faintest hit of impressed disbelief coloring her voice. Of course if he wanted to know what she was talking about he was going to have to ask.

His offer to show her around was a little unexpected, and it made it all the harder to form a concrete opinion of him. "Yeah, sure." A tour was probably a good idea, actually. It kept her from wandering around aimlessly, and maybe she'd learn something.

Rep didn't bother to ask what the other hunter meant by her cryptic statement, possible correlations didn't even arise in his mind with what she might well have been counting.

"Since you are in Sun, the first and most ******** important place to check out will be the training fields."

WIthout actually waiting to see if she'd actually follow him, he strode off in the direction of the fields.

A tiny pout took over when Rep didn't raise to her bait, but she let it go. If he wanted to cuse like a sailor, who was she to xay anything? The teen swore like it was going out of style. Pointing the joke out would have just defeated the purpose of making it in the first place.

He turned and began leadinng the way towards the training feilds, nnot bothing to look back to see if she was following or not. Wasn't that just so presumptuous.. With a snort she fell into step beside him, though with her legs being much shorter then his she was forced to almost jog just to keep up.

The training fields when they arrived were quiet, just a few death and moon hunters off training on some of the dummies along the edges. Rep stopped and looked it over thoughtfully before turning to face Pey.

"So, the training fields. Best place on this island really. You spar people here, main way to get more ******** pro at using your weapon. If someone almost kills you by mistake though that's your fault for not telling them when your fear shield gets ******** low. Your weapon should be able to tell you that. Its important if you want to keep all your s**t attached. Lose an arm or and eye in Sun, they'll throw you out on your a**."

He gave her a critical look. "Have you used your weapon yet?"

So not only where they going to be facing death and dismemberment by monsters, but apparently their fellow hunters as well? Brutal. Peyton gave training field and the few people currently on it a considering look, lips pursed. She had no designs on dying, but she was a scrappy little s**t, so all in all, this hunter gig sounded pretty damn bad a**. So far.

"Don't lose a body part, gotcha." She smirked, crossing her arms, then looked up at Rep as he asked about her weapon. "No, not really. Only to summon and desummon him." She'd only had him a couple of hours so far.

Rep eyed the training fields thoughtfully, something glazed coming into his expression. "Well then."

He shifted his gaze back to Pey and grinned toothily.

"No time like the present."

With a low snarl and a staggeringly fast swing, he lunged forward at her, squarely aiming a blow at her gut.

Pale eyes narrowed at the glazed expression that suddenly slid into place on scarred features, and that toothy grin had shoulders tightening, the small hairs at the back of her neck prickling uncomfortably.

It wasn't a complete surprise when he came after her, not having been watching him, but all in all she hadn't really been expecting to have to defend herself quite this early on. Still, he had a point. There really was no time like the present, and if she was going to be in Sun, then she was going to have to take what messy experience she had in a scuffle, and turn into actual skill.

<Peyton!>

Warrick's voice boomed through her head, and she summoned him to her as Rep's fist came right at her stomach, connecting, but barely stealing her breath as she hopped away from him. "Kinda cheap," she wheezed at him, one small foot sliding back to dig toes into the dirt. Warrick's warm, heavy weight circling her fingers.

She used that tiny toe hold to kick off from, running at the larger man with one dainty fist raised. But skill mattered here, and for all the school yard scuffles Peyton could boast, there had been nothing real about any of those fights. She threw her punch, but it was obvious, and easily dodged or deflected.

"No such thing as cheap. Monsters won't give you a heads up, they don't do warnings, they don't play fair, there's no such thing as off limits to them. Too many ******** idiots on this island train against dummies all their days and then wonder what the ******** is happening when they fight opponents with brains."

The stance he dropped into was a little widely braced for fists, a hint as to what his true weapon's scale was. The adrenaline kicked in immediately, mingled with Tracey's near tangible need for fear. He wanted to test the fledgeling fear shield, taste what her weapon was made of, sink serrated feathers into delicate fle- he pushed the thoughts aside. They weren't ******** helping him.

He didn't relent even with her uncertain miss, driving straight in again with his other fist, trying to get in close, relentlessly push her back and throw her off balance. Off the battlefield he was awkward and tense, in a fight it was as if he came into his own, a certain tenacious grace about his movements.

He was right, again, and that put an end to her complaining. If their goal was to eradicate monsters, then she was indeed going to have to get used to fighting things that would have no issue with tearing into her. Things that didn't play fair, and didn't have honor. With that in mind, Rep's approach really was the best introduction into what she could expect.

Her hit missed, throwing her off balance, and it didn't take much effort on the big man's part to use that failed attack against her. She felt him connect, felt her balance go all to hell, then felt the harsh kiss of the dirt as she smacked into the ground on her side.

At the very least the girl was tenacious, and even down she wasn't out. A thin leg kicked out at any body limb that dared get to close as she pushed herself back up up to her feet. She didn't hit anything, but nothing hit her either.
