"I'll be going now, Paha!" Yaholo called, waving to his half-sister as he left the settlement. "I don't know if I'll be back tonight, so don't wait up for me!" He chuckled as she folded her arms and pouted, she was always so upset when he left. She didn't understand that he needed to leave each day to find out more about himself, it was all so easy for her to figure out. She was born a full-blood Leaf, and he was a mix. He sighed and smiled to himself before setting out on the path to Jauhar.
He walked for a good while before deciding to take a rest and a swig from his water canteen. Green eyes idly observed the landscape around him for anything of interest. "Hm," He mumbled. "Same 'ol, same 'ol. Nothing interesting ever happens out here..."

"Bah, damn this country for being so hot." Oulixes muttered to himself, giving the dried out ground a little kick with one of his bare feet, sending some of the tall grass swaying from the strike. He gave a little sigh before lifting a hand up to block the sun, squinting toward the distance. There was supposed to be a forest if he kept on in this direction, a massive one, and that was what he was going to seek out. No reason to stay too long in this dry, oppressive waste land. It reminded him too much of home only with heat and sand instead of cold and snow, and anything that reminded him of home was instantly disliked by the halfbreed.
Making a bit of a face he continue onward, glancing about from time to time, wanting to take every step with caution. No matter where he went there were always dangers be it the wild life, the people, or just the weather. It was all quite the danger to someone that had no home and no tribe to speak of, as such he was relying on himself and his own cunning. It was all he had so he had to be forever cautious. Tale was home to... the... Leaf Tribe if he recalled right, he'd never seen any of them before and he was sure that none of them had seen anything like him. Hells, he'd never seen anyone like him. All scarred up, grouchy, with mixed blood flowing through his veins. From where he came from such a trait made him instantly unwanted, at least where his father was concerned, hence his not being in Zena unless given a damn good reason. He supposed as much as he already disliked Tale for it's terrain and weather it was better then being home, at least the people here might be a touch less likely to kill him he thought. It was the most cheerful thought he'd had recently so it caused the barest hint of a smile before it faded away.

Yaholo was beginning to contemplate getting up and continuing onward, which usually meant he'd actually leave in about an hour when he finally convinced himself to do so, and turned to put his water canteen back in his satchel. However, a figure on the horizon caught his attention and caused his heart to jump.
"That guy doesn't look too good!" He squeaked, hopping up from his seat. "Hey! Are you okaaaay?" He waved his hands towards Oulixes, hoping he'd see him. "You don't look so good! Want some water?"

He didn't look so good? He blinked a couple of times before he gave a bit of a sighing sound, turning to look over at whoever it was that was speaking, wanting nothing more then to tell whoever it was off. Upon seeing the guy he found himself starring in return, wondering if he was what the Leaf Tribe looked like or if he were something else. He couldn't really say, he didn't know much about any of the other tribes save for the Ice and Wind Tribes given that he shared blood with them. After a long moment of starring at him he finally said, "I am more then okay, what about me says that I am not?" He demanded of the stranger, wondering if he were trying to pick a fight with him. Well, if a fight was what he wanted then he would damn well give the guy a... wait, what? Water?
He blinked a couple times then cocked his head to one side, "Water? Ahh... I guess I could use some, my water skin is running a little low." He said, having hoped that he would stumble across some sort of water source before it ran out completely. Given how horrid the weather in this place was though he wasn't sure where to even start looking. Maybe this guy could give him pointers if he lived around here? Hoping again hope for some sort of luck in that aspect he added, "If you could point me in the way of some that would be nice."

Ooo, Yaholo didn't expect a rough answer out of the man. He rubbed the back of his head nervously, maybe those scars were his markings and he had just insulted his heritage, oops! Another idiotic mistake accomplished without a hitch. He'd have to try to make up for it as best he could, as with all his other mistakes.
"Sorry if I insulted you!" He apologized. "From a far, your scars looked like fresh injuries. I thought you had been attacked or something." He paused and handed him his water canteen. "Well, it's good that I saw you then! I have another canteen that I'm saving for later, you can have this one if you'd like." He paused again and pondered, where could he find some more water? "Uhm, usually the water is kept at the house and I fill up my canteens there..." He pondered a little more before bending down and plucking a few blades of crystal grass from the ground. "The grass here contains liquid pods, which could also be used as food. They could be useful to you, too."

Oulixes starred at the guy for a long time, his eyes like hardened chips of amber before he gave a slow sigh, "Sorry... I figured you might be picking a fight or something..." He said, glancing away, cursing himself and his temper for always getting the best of him. When he thought that someone was coming at him he had a tendency to outright challenge that person, having grown tired of being a weakling and a coward long ago. He shouldn't take it out on others he told himself, especially not some person that appeared as though he were attempting to play nice. Alright, I can do this, I can play nice he told himself over and over in his head like some sort of mantra. That was until the other mentioned that he'd thought he'd been attacked or something.
"I was, but the wounds have long since healed. There was just no healer about to make it so they would heal in a pretty manner." He said, giving a shrug he quickly added, "Ah... but since I am not a girl it doesn't really matter, I have no reason to be pretty." That sounded odd, didn't it? It wasn't as though he wanted someone to think him pretty, he was just trying to explain why his scars looked like they did. Damn it all... He gave the grass another kick before the other was suddenly offering him a canteen, "Ahh... huh? Well... I don't need it all, just enough to fill my water skin." He said, digging into his pack to get it out, pouring some of the contents of the canteen into his water skin, then held it out to him once more. He didn't often accept charity, not wanting to be seen as being weak or pathetic, but where water was concerned he had to force down his pride and take it.
As the other started to explain where the water liked to hide, apparently in the same grass he'd been kicking, he starred down at it, "Ahh... oops... I will refrain from kicking it then." He muttered, one of his tattered ears giving a slight twitch from embarrassment. Figures he'd be kicking the very thing that might help him, story of his life, "I will keep their uses in mind, it might help me on my journey."

Yaholo's gaze resembled that of an uneasy puppy until Oulixes sighed, which gave him the okay to be calm. "Oh, no, no!" He replied, waving his hands a little out of anxiety. "I would never attack someone unless they came up to me and attacked or attacked on of my family members. You've done neither, so, no need to worry about that!"
He chuckled nervously as Oulixes spoke and found himself taken aback by the explanation of his scars. "Whoooa... I'm sorry about that..." He mumbled, his eyes growing soft with sympathy. "I-I mean! Uh... Um..." He paused, his face flushing red. "S-sorry for being so stupid, I don't know where my had is today." Man, come on, couldn't he just talk to people without sounding like an idiot? Every time he met someone new, he had to make some sort of dumb comment. This guy must think he's some sort of imbecile!
"D-don't worry about the grass," He said. "The pods are covered in crystal that can be hard to crush, so if they get a little roughed up, that's fine." He paused and looked down the path that he had been walking along before turning back to Oulixes. "Were you heading towards Jauhar? I'm heading that way myself... Would you like some company for your journey?"

"Hn... I see." He murmured, seeming as though he were thinking over what the other man was saying before he gave a slow nod, "That is good to hear." The idea that he wouldn't attack someone unless they started it or came after his family was a foreign one but one that he liked the sound of. If only there were more of them like this one, those that were more neutral. He'd met a couple here and there, those that didn't reject him outright, and it was something that made him have an inkling of hope... not that he would admit it out loud.
To add to how strange this guy seemed he was suddenly apologizing over Oulixes's scars? that was... odd. Giving a shrug he said, "No reason to worry about it, not like you could have know." That the other guy admitted to and apologized for being 'so stupid' was a new one. No many would actually call themselves stupid after all, instead more often fighting against being called such a thing. This one really was strange, stranger then any he'd met thus far and that was saying something. Shifting in place he finally found his voice and said, "Don't worry about it. Their nothing you should think too hard on." There were better things to chat on, that much Oulixes was certain of.
"Heading toward Jauhar?" He asked, before he gave a slow nod of his head, "Yeah, that is where I am going. I am sort of... drifting at the moment." Did he want some company for his journey? Did he want to travel across Tale with this guy? He supposed that it wouldn't being so bad, would it? After a moment he said, "I... don't normally travel with others, I am used to being alone but... it wouldn't be so bad. I am not sure what sort of traveling companion I will be but if you want to actually try it out then we can. You can feel free to leave at any time." He didn't want to force his presence upon the other guy after all.

"I would love to have you as company." Yaholo replied. "The journey goes faster when you have someone to chat with. Plus, why travel to the same place alone when you've bumped into someone heading in the same direction?" Most of the time, Yaholo didn't bump into anyone on his trips to or from Jauhar. If he happened to find someone interested in the trek or happened to bump into someone along the way, he would always offer to travel with them. Having company made long, quiet journeys a little more enjoyable. "Are you heading anywhere in particular?" He asked. "Or just wandering for the sake of wandering?"

Love to have him as company? Now he was sure that was just an exaggeration but he supposed that it was better then nothing. He doubted very highly that anyone would really 'love' to do anything with him but no matter, he would accept the other man as his traveling companion. He could use the help, he could learn a bit more about this area, and then he would move on, simple as that. He never sat still, had no reason to do so, but he would do what he could to enjoy the time with this traveling companion for as long as they were around each other.
"No where in particular, just wandering." He said, not wanting to explain why he was wandering or the fact that he really had no goal, that he just wanted to get somewhere that was easier to hide. Tale didn't seem that great for hiding, far too much open space, but surely a forest would be better about it? He gave a nod at the thought then said, "I figure the forest might be what I am looking for, but who knows until I get there." Not that he felt that he would ever really find what it was that he was looking for, but the continued search did give him something to do which was more then enough for him at the present.

"Well, you're in luck, then!" Yaholo chirped. "Jauhar is pretty much a gigantic forest, so if that's what you're looking for, you've come down the right path!" He chuckled, albeit a little nervously. Sometimes when he was meeting new people, he expected them to just outright judge him on how he was acting. Was he acting too nervous? Should he be a little less informal? He never really knew how to act in social situations, despite how friendly he was. The cause of this could be found deep in his childhood memories, back when he wasn't allowed to connect with his Alkidike sisters. Lack of social guidance has made him unsure of how to monitor his emotions during conversations, and often causes him to wander off when he's convinced that he has over stepped his boundaries, when he actually hasn't. Not that he has ever tried to deliberately invade someone else's space, he's too nice to do that.
"Sooo..." He said, moving towards the forest. "If you're just wandering there, and have no real destination, would you like me to show you some places to pick fruit and find shelter while you stay there?"

Oulixes gave a nod of his head as the other told him that he was in luck, that Jauhar was a gigantic forest and that if that was what he was looking for he'd come down the right path. Well, that was good to hear. The bigger the forest the better, it meant that he would be far less likely to be seen or bothered and that way he was able to enjoy the forest to its fullest. He supposed that it was lucky that he was on this path, both because he was able to find a traveling companion that knew about Jauhar and because the guy was actually willing to be a guide for Oulixes.
As they started toward the forest that was looming ever closer on the horizon he found himself offered that much more help, this time in finding places to get fruit and to find shelter. Turning to look over at the odd looking guy he said, "You seem awfully helpful." Not something he was too terribly used to. Sure, he'd met others that had aided him in the past like Lusala and Natsu but it seemed to confused him every time. It was as though he had no idea how to deal with people be nice, which he really didn't. No matter, he would take what he could from the meeting, learn what he could, and use the knowledge to keep himself alive in the future.

Yaholo paused, his face showing some slight anxiety. Was what he said meant as a cue to stop helping him? Should he shut his mouth? Did he overstep some sort of boundary? He had always been taught to help those around him, helping people get around was a good thing, especially if they didn't really know where they were going. All this guy knew was that he was going into a forest, a rain forest, where animals could come out and rip him to pieces if they so choose. Did he really know where he was wandering...?
"Aah, well..." He mumbled. "You're going to be staying in a rain forest. There are many dangerous things that could happen along the way. It's best that you know where safe places are and where food can be found with ease. That way, you'll have a better chance of surviving on your own."

Oulixes seemed to stare at Yaholo for a long, drawn out moment before he finally gave a nod of his head, "I see." So he was just helping to help? Strange... it didn't make him completely trust the guy, not yet, but he supposed that he was better then some that he'd dealt with in the past. There were a few exceptions to the rule he supposed and this guy might be one of them, "I will accept this help then, given that living in the forest is something I might be doing for at least a little while. I can't quite slow down or settle down, but being able to increase my chances of surviving in Jauhar might be nice." Best to take the advice, remember it in detail, and hoped that it kept him from getting killed by the locals or the various wild life that was sure to live in the forest.
"Tell me, what are the people like? I have only heard a few details here and there, like something about people that could change color or women that look like bugs. Do any of these rumors hold any sort of truth to them?" He asked, then found himself taking a step closer to Yaholo, reaching out to poke of one of his antennae, "Are you among the tribe of bugs? I had heard them all women?" He said, not even thinking before he spoke or poked.

"The people..?" Yaholo echoed, pondering a moment. Well, he only really knew his mother's side of the family, the Alkidikes. Though he had encountered a half-shifter, who he found very pleasant, he didn't think that she could speak for the entirety of the tribe. So, then, what were his sisters like? He paused a moment, his eyes growing a little distant. Only a few of them were nice to him, especially a Youngling whom he had grown fond of. He had one true friend, Niabi, who was more than a little shy. Sometimes he wondered if he was too loud for her to deal with. He shrugged his shoulders at the thought, just as his antenna was poked, causing him to squeak.
"Ah, oh, yeah!" He chirped, his antenna twitching around, his subconscious's way of displaying displeasure at the poking. "I'm not a full Alkidike, but I... I am one of them!" His words seemed coated with a little force or uncertainty, as if he wasn't truly sure if he belonged with them. "They are a completely female race of warriors, males can only come if an Alkidike has a child with a human from one of the tribes, which is my case." He paused again, scratching his chin. "The majority of them are not very welcoming of outsiders, but I know two who treat me with kindness. They're my only doors to the world where my mother lives, or could have lived."
