Things had been interesting for awhile.

The shadows had become Phact’s friend, which was a challenge when you ran around in all white. But that was where she could hide from others and still watch while avoiding climbing buildings. The freedom to do so was wonderful and she adored it. The falling….not so much.

But it still was not as bad as getting slammed backwards into a tree.

The park had seemed like a safe idea in the early hours of the night but things always went wrong. She had happened upon something that looked like a bat and human combined following a couple down the path. Doing the ‘right thing’ and secretly protecting them was not going as planned. Honestly, Phact was getting her butt kicked.

”You should be dust by now…” Phact snapped out as she pushed off the tree and jumped to the side as the youma came after her again.

Squire Aventine had been avoiding her knightly duties for longer than she cared to admit. She had been involved in too many bad encounters recently and was taking longer to recuperate—mentally, at least—than she cared to admit. But Aventine was a stubborn girl.

She wasn't the sort to let fear rule her.

She'd been hurt, but not enough to keep her down for good. Her patrols lasted only half an hour, a few times a week, mostly by herself. She was trying to reconnect with the other knights and senshi—she just needed a little extra motivation.

A senshi aura nearby caught her attention—coupled with the sounds of battle, what could she do but investigate?

Rushing to the scene, she tried to scope out as much information as possible—and then she spotted the senshi. It was a girl she didn't recognize, but she was friendly all the same—despite the youma causing trouble. "Hey! You doing okay over there, need some help?"

Phact was spinning around a tree to dodge what appeared to be a sound wave coming at her. Off to the side where it struck, the branches it hit feel to the ground. This was not going well for a Senshi whose sole attack was a distraction!

Then a voice hit her causing Phact to turn in the direction of a woman in pink. The human inside of the Senshi recognized her at first sight. "Ave..."

Phact had managed to catch herself from spilling out the truth that they had met before but right now, she was trying to get out of the way of the next scream attack.

"No no. I have everything under..."Phact started to say, her pride holding her back from accepting the help standing in front of her. But before she could finish, the youma's attack took out a branch forcing the bird nest that was on it to land on her head. "...control..."

Inhaling, Phact looked back at the creature that now seemed to be laughing hysterically at her.

Aventine stiffened and thought for a brief moment when Phact said something that sounded like it might have been her name. She attributed it to her own imagination—and certainly didn't dwell on it when the bird nest landed on the senshi's head.

She stared for a brief moment and then burst into laughter, shaking her head. "—Oh, gosh, are you okay? It looks like you're having a rough night—let me help with this youma and we can get you cleaned up. You've got leaves in your hair. And youma are nasty." She looked at the thing distastefully and shook her head, moving to Phact's side. "If you don't mind, at least. I'm Aventine, Squire of Venus. I don't think we've met?"

The senshi's outfit was unique to her, and Aventine might have been around for a bit, but she knew her associates didn't even begin to scratch the surface of the senshi and knight community. She could go out every night and still meet someone new.

How could she say no to anything covered in tree branches and a bird's nest for a hat? That would make this even more silly than it already was and to be honest, Phact was getting tired of having people laugh at her. Even if one was more of a bat than a person.

With a long sigh, the senshi in white reached up and pulled the nest off her head to almost frisbie it off to the side. Though she could feel hair going with it, the senshi did her best not to wince."Sailor Phact, Senshi of Doves." She groaned looking to make sure the nest was empty before glancing up towards the youma that still seemed to be in stitches. "And that bat's sonic ability is really starting to become a headache to go along with my back. Any suggestions?" She whispered as the bat finally seemed to notice she was not alone anymore.

"Kick it," Aventine replied simply; she didn't seem to have any reservations over what was appropriate or not; as soon as she was sure Phact was doing all right, she ran towards the youma and kicked with unfettered force. "Just kick it until it can't get up! Ugh, I hate these things, so gross!" The girl said; she wished she had thicker boots—or just something to block the sensation of her let colliding with the youma.

She continued an array of kicks, speaking between each one. While her sentences were slightly broken up because of the sharp movement, she was still understandable. "You just—have to keep kicking them—until they stop moving. And—be careful because they're sneaky—so you have to make sure—that they turn to dust—before you turn you back!"

There were no words for what Phact was watching at that moment. When she had accepted help from this woman, this knight, she had expected something along the lines of when she threw a teapot at the merkat thing. Not that she was going to mention that little bit here. At that time, she was just a normal high schooler. Now...not so much.

"Um...Aventine?" Sailor Phact called out as she watched the youma stare up at her in a very squished manner. "How do you prevent the thing from grabbing your leg then?" Her question came with a point in the direction of the winged arms.

Aventine blinked, confused for a second, and then yelped before her stomping increased. "I guess you don't! Just break its little arms off or something! I don't know! Use some of your senshi magic or something, that might help! Oh my god," she muttered as an after thought, squirming in her skin, "These things are so frigging gross, I don't know why anyone would want them."

She had met her fair share of youma, but she was never going to get used to them. Some days, she'd rather the big, burly monster youma—at least they didn't make her skin crawl. The little ones? The little ones were like bugs, and there always seemed to be too many running around.

"My 'senshi magic' won't do much." Phact sighed as she pulled another twig out of her hair. That made her think.

Looking up in the tree, Phact knocked a 'widow maker' hanging there not that far up. "Hang on one moment." She smirked jumping upward into the branches. Finding the base of the dead branch, she came up above it and rammed her heel down into the dead wood. Twice more and the branch dropped hard.

"MOVE!" She called out working to drop down from the tree.

Aventine's eyes widened at the command and she looked up just in surprise. She hastily rolled out of the way, leaving the youma behind. The youma hadn't the faintest idea what happened; the branch smacked it, hard, and it burst in an explosion of dust.

Aventine lingered, panting; her eyes darting from the senshi to the youma and she looked around, expecting more to jump out. She certainly didn't feel any youma in the area, so breathed a sigh of relief and flopped onto the ground. "Good thinking, Girlie. I give it an A-plus."

She picked her head up just a second later, "Hey, what do you mean your senshi magic doesn't do anything? What does it do?"

Phact just cleared the tree and dropped to her knee as she landed. When the dust cleared, she stood up and brushed her hair out of her face giving a bit of air about her as she did. "Thank you. I have gotten used to coming up with random things to help out."

Walking towards the woman, she looked down at the mess and nodded after seeing it was 'dead'. This one would not be coming back.

Though the sudden question had her turn and raise a curious look before smiling. "I can show you if you like. Or show you something sort of like it. It is very simple." Her eyes looked back at the dust pile with a sigh. "Though, annoying since I lack training as a fighter."

"I'd like to see your magic!" Aventine said excitedly. "I mean—it seems like you don't even need it, you handled that youma so well! I don't have any magic, but it hasn't done much to stop me. I don't have a lot of advanced fighting skills or anything, but I've played sports for a while. Rugby? That's probably the closest thing I've got to fighting. I mean, and I've been in a few scuffles, but let me tell you—the people I got rough with deserved it," she huffed, hastily brushing off her outfit.

"…Anyway, I mean. I guess if you wanted to spar some time after this, maybe we could help each other? …Because I definitely need a little more fighting experience. But I don't want to fight you all the time! I figure, it's probably best if us girls stick together. We should be friends," she said, cracking a grin and extending a hand.

Aventine seemed a bit more energetic this time around than when Phact had met her the first time. From what the senshi could gather, the knight had gotten into her role. It was most likely a good thing after all.

"Youma are one thing." Phact admitted as she reached out her hand the shake the other woman's. "Agents, not so much. I can think of my feet but I'm always on the defensive or running. Frankly, I have zero fighting skills." She commented very openly as she gave a shrug.

"Because all my magic does...well..." Lowering her head, the coo of a bird sounded around them. Cooing Whispers She called out as a white bird formed in front of her before following direction and flying directly at the knight.

Youma and agents were a huge difference in Aventine's book; she understood they both were born of chaos, but she had a much easier time fighting youma. The agents she'd met and given her mixed messages; some were very obviously unpleasant people, but others? Others didn't seem so bad, and it was terribly conflicting. Some, she wanted to punch their face in.

Some, she thought just had no idea what they were doing.

Some just had a damn good argument and she had no idea what to do with them.

Youma, though. She could fight youma. Stupid, brainless monsters that just wanted to hurt people.

The woman was lost in her thoughts, nodding to Phact despite not listening as earnestly as she should have been. All she knew was that one minute the girl was talking, and the next a bird was flying towards her.

Aventine was not particularly afraid of birds, but given the still very-recent run in with the youma, she yelped and held up one arm as if she was trying to block from an attack.

As soon as the bird fluttered in her face, it disappeared. Phact was not standing where Aventine was looking but instead, had moved.

Smiling slowly, Phact reached out from behind and tapped the knight on her right shoulder. "A good distraction. Horrible when you cannot move." She sighed waving a hand to make sure the dove was gone.

"Are you afraid of birds?"
