Benitoite was a very gracious General, ordering Bazzite topside simply to let him see the world again. It had been too long since he'd last set foot on sand or earth. Too often he was subjected to the same unending black-on-violet crystal landscape. No sun, no stars, no electricity. The same shrieks and roars during the time Bazzite tried to sleep. Sometimes his situation made him so very angry.

The youma drew a great breath into blackened lungs and heaved out a sigh. Tall, thin gossamer wings buzzed with excitement once the world warped into focus. Bright blue eyes squinted, adjusting. Earth was so much brighter than the Rift, even at night.

Then he recognized where he was. Ah, playground. Find senshi, kill senshi. Eat. Eat, eat, eat, eat.

A blood-curdling scream of nearby civilians alerted Bazzite to Tasty Treats in the form of unpowered starseeds. Starseeds belonging to those with power definitely tasted better but were harder to catch. Whatever this brunette was up to made no difference to youma. Bazzite quickly closed the gap between them and the woman, who looked no older than thirty, thought she could dash through the playground and be safe within the jungle gym.

How wrong she was.

A sudden voice somewhere to his left made the youma pause in his attempted assault of the shrieking woman inside the jungle gym. He retracted an arm and the woman breathed a brief, shaky sigh of relief. With the youma's attention turned to the child senshi, it might have been a good time for her to escape.

"Why am I doing this?" came a reply, Bazzite's eyes focused very intently on the small child. He could practically smell the starseed inside her. It was weaker than others but stronger than the woman he'd previously been chasing. Therefore, it made the little one quite tasty. The youma gestured to himself, as if the answer was blatantly obvious. "I'm hungry, little senshi. Youma need to eat too, you know. And it's not as easy as going to the grocery store," He took a step towards the little blonde, a smile stretching across his face. "or calling up a fast food place." Another step. "We have to search for food." Yet another step.

"You don't want me to starve, do you?"

Bazzite couldn't help but laugh. It was a deep, throaty sound that signaled he would have pitied the young senshi, if he had the capacity to do so. "Pizza? Little girl, if I could eat pizza, this conversation wouldn't be happening."

Slowly but surely did the youma take one, two, three short steps again towards Hypnos. Perhaps she wouldn't notice. The scent of her starseed grew stronger the closer he inched towards the chibi senshi. Youma hunting humans were like lions among gazelle, some simply waiting for a meal. Bazzite was too hungry for the waiting game. He'd much rather gobble up a tiny starseed than nothing at all. "But, you know, maybe you're onto something. Grocery stores do carry starseeds, after all. You won't believe how difficult it is to get food when you don't have pockets to put money..."

For emphasis, Bazzite lifted what little scraps of clothing he could call a shirt. "Would you mind helping a poor, hungry guy out?"

Bazzite grunted at her refusal, lowering his ears to feign sadness like a dog would to his master. "Can't? Won't. But that's okay." he wheezed, closing the gap between them again. Her starseed pulsed in her chest like a beacon and Bazzite couldn't take his eyes off of that glorious, beautiful gleaming star. "There's nothing else I can eat, unfortunately. We can't digest anything else. But you. You have a starseed you could give me. Don't worry - it won't hurt."

And then the youma roared and lunged for her. Mercy and compassion for the innocent were not gifts youma were born with.

"Nope, sorry kid." he growled, lunging this way and that to try and pin the chibi senshi under one massive clawed hand. Damn, she was small and she was fast. "I've been too hungry for too long and energy simply won't do. But your soul, that starseed you have there, that would do wonderfully. Now GIVE. IT."

Another roar and a lunge and Bazzite ate nothing but sand for a moment. He was getting very angry. "If not yours then I'll find someone else's. Several someone else's. People who aren't like you, they don't have nearly as much power. They're not nearly as filling, you see."

A swipe of claws. Damned senshi.

"Killing isn't wrong, kid." he growled, making swipe after swipe for her. Why were chibi senshi so damned nimble?! "Do you get mad about the lion eating the gazelle? Is that wrong too?"

Then the chibi stopped. Dinner had quit moving.

And the smile appeared on the youma's face as he reared up to take her head clean off in one fell swoop. But then, some shimmering dust flew out of her chest and into the air, into his face and nose and eyes. Hissing, Bazzite's face peeled back to reveal huge fangs as he pawed at his eyes. "What the hell is this!? What did you do to..."

Yaaaaaaaawn. "....me..."

Why was he so sleepy all of a sudden? His vision started to blur slightly.
