The night had been lovely for Carnelian. The corrupted, newly-minted super had taken the time to leisurely stroll from rooftop to rooftop during his patrol, not a care in the world. Euclase was now his fiancee, he'd gained enough power to feel a little less like a sitting duck... the world seemed like it was spinning just the way he preferred. It brought a smile to his face. Nothing out of the ordinary had happened that evening - youma steered clear of him (really, Carnelian steered clear of them, for youma had a penchant for nibbling on anything that wasn't a Negaverse officer) and there weren't any Order signatures on his radar. Certainly, he stopped at one Italian restaurant to gently drain a chef on a smoke break of his energy before stealing away into the darkness. Carnelian left him propped up against the building, like he'd carelessly fallen asleep. No harm done. Then he heard a shriek, likely a civilian female, cut drastically and suddenly short. Curious, Carnelian performed another scan. A Negaverse officer... a lieutenant, perhaps? The corrupted then started to flit in that direction, bouncing from place to place with a quick click of heels. Soon he found himself above the energy signature. "Having a productive evening, officer?" lilted a polite introduction from the awning of a small bakery.

He had had a semi-productive night, actually. Leucite had stalked the streets of the city, usually watching and waiting for soft targets to appear for him to gather their energy - or very rarely - snatch the starseed from their chest. His current victim - a young woman, probably in her early twenties - had wandered into his alley. Leucite had stuck to the shadows. It wasn't until she'd opened her cell phone and called her "boss" that he knew what she really was, and why she as hanging out in an alleyway in a less seedy part of town. Normally Leucite tended to let women go after draining their energy - but not tonight. Not when she was trying to find a college party to sell her wares at - potentially killing people he went to school with. He knew her kind - their "goodies" were never clean, they were always cut, or laced. She'd screamed until he'd pulled the starseed out of her chest, then she'd crumpled to the ground like so many of the others he'd taken from. He had propped her against the bakery's dumpster when he heard the voice that told him he was not alone. ... He was really going to have to get used to keeping that energy scan going constantly - he very much disliked being snuck up on. Looking toward the voice, Leucite took in what he was talking to. The energy signature was chaos but also... Senshi? His lips curled into a frown, but he decided that maybe just this once it was more prudent to talk, then threaten bodily harm, after all - he wasn't trying to stop him. "Actually quite, I just snatched a starseed," he motioned to the body mostly covered with bags of bakery trash. "They'll find her and her goodies come morning - I'm sure they'll suspect she OD'd on her own stuff... I made sure a few were open."No need in drawing unwanted attention after all. "And you would be?" Leucite finally had to ask - unable to stand talking to someone who he didn't even know the name of.

Carnelian preferred to take people while they slept or target people and prop them up on things so they'd at least be a little comfortable. Even though he didn't agree with the lieutenant's way of doing things, it certainly got the job done. Perhaps they were in different branches as well? Hard to say - the redhead didn't recognize the new recruit. Dropping down from the awning, the corrupted senshi took a moment to straighten out his coat and his long braided hair. "Sailor Carnelian, Senshi of Pain. And who do I have the pleasure of running into this evening?" he asked, extending a hand in greeting. He didn't typically bow to anyone unless they requested it or were female. Manners went a long way in the Negaverse, near as he could tell. "Are they allowing starseed pulling now? That's good news. It seemed to me like some of the officers were itching to keep doing that. I just collect energy. I think our quotas might be different..." Carnelian trailed off for a moment before deciding that train of thought probably didn't mean much to the lieutenant. "And you would mind company this evening? I'm afraid I haven't found anyone of note tonight."

So the Negaverse did have senshi in their thrall. The thought of it both intrigued and saddened Leucite. The only senshi he'd meet that had given him any trouble had been - well a rabid dog really. It took all his will to not touch his face where her burning hands had scalded him to the bone but left no mark at all. Never again. Smiling a wry smile at Carnelian, he took the offered hand and gave it a bone-crushing shake. This guy looked like a complete wuss, so it wasn't a surprised that he was a senshi. But no matter - he could try to get along. Provided he didn't do anything stupid. "Oh, that? Eh, I made a judgement call - nobody needs to know." He said flatly, looking at the body of the woman for a moment. "She was a dealer - the worst kind too, cause she was cute and she was probably heading for some frat house. I saved some lives today."He turned his attention back to the question at hand and he chuckled. "Sure, why not."He wanted to see if this guy could handle his pace. So without a second word, he went back to the awning the senshi had just jumped down from, vaulted up to it, and made his way to the rooftops. "Well, you coming or what?"

The corrupted winced as his hand was nearly ground into dust. Shaking it in the air, Carnelian tried to give the lieutenant a smile without pain. "You do what you have to do to keep out of trouble. Makes complete sense to me." He paused, examining his hand to make sure all his digits still functioned the way they were intended to. "Do you have another mission tonight or are you jus---"Hmm. Leucite vaulted away before Carnelian could finish his sentence. Watching as the officer sailed up to the rooftop, the redhead huffed. While he may have lacking genuine fighting finesse, he was a Super Senshi now, and was able to leap tall buildings in a single bound faster than he could before. Faster than a lieutenant though he'd never been in a race with one previously. In a blink, the corrupted had caught up to the lieutenant with a gracious smile. "Do you still have quotas to fill, or are you just sight-seeing tonight, Lieutenant...?" The sentence trailed off in the form of a question. This guy hadn't introduced himself yet!

"Leucite," The officer stated as they covered ground. "Six of one, half dozen of the other," Leucite grinned at the corrupted. "I don't like sticking to more than one place for too long - draws too much attention and you start running low on targets. Not to mention it increases your chances of being interrupted by the pathetic senshi, and their equally useless knights."... "Present company excluded of course, I'm sure you're far from useless," he had said he was the Senshi of Pain after all - Leucite didn't even want to begin to imagine what that might possibly entail, nor did he have a mind to find out. "So what about you? You just walking the beat?"

"You're a very dedicated officer, Leucite."It wasn't an insult, nor was it sarcasm. Just a genuine observation. From what Carnelian had learned during his time in the Negaverse, officers didn't generally trust their own senshi for whatever reason. He wasn't even sure why this was such a prevailing sentiment, but it was. The redhead was determined to prove his worth one way or another and perhaps gain the respect of those around him. Certainly Euclase would be proud of that. And speaking of. "We have somewhat of a quota," began the corrupted, easily keeping pace with the lieutenant. One thing he was good at was running. "I thought I would gather energy for the night, report in and then take the rest of the night off. I have the apartment to myself tonight. Just got engaged so the fiancee is out with her girls shopping for dresses. Maybe you've seen her? Her name is Euclase."Then another thought came to his mind. "I don't mean to pry but... Lieutenant, do you have anyone important to you in the organization?"

He accepted the statement with a nod. "I try to be, Carnelian. Dedication to the cause is something we should all strive for. I am glad to hear that you are dedicated to gathering energy - but you know, taking an evening off doesn't sound like a bad idea."At the news of his upcoming nuptials, Leucite chuckled and shook his head. "I suppose congratulations are in order? No, I cannot say I have met Euclase." But he wondered what sort of woman she'd be, being interested in such as Carnelian. He almost tripped and fell off the next roof he landed on when asked the question, skidding to a stop, he turned and tilted his head. "No... Actually I do not have anyone important to me inside the organization. I am seeing a civilian girl though... An Ex."

Carnelian chuckled. All work and no play leads to burn-out, and you're certainly not useful to the Negaverse if you aren't pulling your weight. Vacation is definitely necessary." Now that he could stop and think about it, the corrupted wasn't sure whether or not the Negaverse had any sort of paid vacation plan built into their benefits package. On the topic of the love of his life, Carnelian smiled broadly. "You'd like her. She's very dedicated, just as you are. She has much more skill and tenacity on the battlefield than I do. I'm more of a talker myself." As if you couldn't tell. I'll probably need to put my hand in a brace for a week thanks to that handshake. "I haven't yet managed to convince anyone to come to our side willingly but I have unnerved a few. Maybe I will have more success now that I've promoted..."It was quite possible, but something deep down in his soul became more anxious the closer to Chaos he became. "You're seeing an ex?" came the confused reply. If one had broken off a relationship with someone, why continue to see them romantically? Unless Carnelian misunderstood. "Perhaps your girl could be convinced to join us if she has that sort of power inside her? A cat or a General would be able to tell."

"You'll have to introduce us sometime," Leucite chuckled as he decided that where they were perched now was a good enough spot as any to rest for a bit. He may not really need it, but he was sure Carnelian would appreciate a break. He didn't look like cardio was his thing.Though to be honest, he'd never thought to have his girlfriend checked to see if she could join their organization - it had pretty much slipped his mind as he'd never really brought up "work" around her. She didn't need to know. "Hmmm... I may have to see if a general has some free time - or one of the cats - I know the generals are busy and I'd rather not waste their time..." Just on the off chance she was normal.

"Absolutely. You two would get along swimmingly, I'm sure."Carnelian knelt down when they stopped to take a long look over the city. The city the Negaverse was created to protect. "It's work related though, isn't it?" came the offer over the corrupted's shoulder. He may not have been very adept at fighting, but giving advice was something he was fairly good at. "I'm sure the Generals would appreciate you being so... thorough. Besides, there are quite a few Generals. They'd be more apt to assist than a General-King. The higher-ups are quite busy as I understand it."Corrupted senshi were less likely to be involved in the inner workings of the Negaverse, that whole don't-trust-senshi-no-matter-what thing being the predominant reason. "Dahlia might be a good choice for a cat too. No one would suspect a cat of being something more than she appeared to be."

"I will keep that in mind," Leucite said, looking out over the city, he chuckled softly to himself. "It's funny..." He didn't usually have an audience for his nightly musings, but now that he did, it was almost impossible to muse quietly. "I never knew any of this was going on - oh sure... I watched the news reports, and Swagger's show... I mean, his personality alone is worth watching that. But until I was awakened... It just didn't hit home how important the Negaverse is..."Rolling his shoulders a bit he laughed darkly. "If the senshi had their way this whole city would be under their dominion - their lock and key..." Turning his head again he smirked. "Again, I mean no offense, I know you'd never oppress this city or her people - you are one of us."Even if Carnelian was a senshi, he served the Negaverse - and as far as Leucite was concerned, that made him okay in his book. "So... What do you do when you're not gathering energy, Carnelian, who is the man behind the senshi?"

Carnelian chuckled from his perch on the edge of the building, shoulders rolling with the movement. "It's pretty insane, isn't it? Living in this city practically my whole life and never once suspected something like this would be happening right under my nose." He sat back then, allowing his legs to dangle down of their own accord. The wind was mild but he was still thankful for the velvety coat he wore. "With all the destruction going on, you'd think something would have tipped off the public by now. I mean, I know some people know. The public is generally aware but the level and pervasiveness of the ignorance is... uncanny."The corrupted waved his hand at the lieutenant to dismiss the perceived offense. "None taken," came an easy reply. "Negaverse senshi have a bad rap for whatever reason but we're just the same as you. We're just fighting against our destructive counterparts, trying to prove ourselves to the officers as best we can. And speaking of, if you ever need a safe place to go, Euclase and I always have our doors open to members of the organization, no questions asked."On the subject of hobbies and who the man behind the holes in his chest was, Carnelian leaned back and gave Leucite a warm smile. "I'm a hair stylist. I cut, color, the whole nine yards. My family owns a salon downtown and all of us work there. My mother, my sisters and I." He absently flicked his long braid with the back of his hand. Long hair seemed to be standard when powering up and Carnelian never did figure out why. "Besides that, I have my fiancee. I power up my DS every once in a while. Pretty mundane. What about you?"

"I'm a painter," Leucite began, allowing himself to sit as well and face Carnelian. "Well, studying to be one anyway," he chuckled a bit at that, watching Carnelian. "Otherwise I'm your average young man. I go to the gym twice a day. I fight in local MMA tournaments when I get the chance."He shrugged his shoulders. "I mean, life outside of this is pretty mundane. Though I would like to offer you and Euclase a portrait sitting for your wedding if you'd like - not as Carnelian and Euclase of course, though that could be interesting to paint.""Mull it over - I don't like charging people money because I'm still technically a student - and it'd be good practice."

"A painter? You don't say. I never would have pegged you for an artist, no offense intended." Green eyes lit up, delighted by this turn of events. "I thought perhaps you were... maybe a karate teacher. Or a solider in the military. The ah... mundane military. MMA I can definitely see, but painter was a bit of a blindside. I have to admit, I'm incredibly impressed. Bravo!" For emphasis, Carnelian gave the lieutenant the applause the corrupted senshi thought he deserved. Carnelian should have been prepared for whiplash, for the lieutenant's offer of a wedding portrait downright shocked him. "Really? You would do that for us? Even though we've just met?" Standing up, the corrupted swung his legs around and made his way towards Leucite. "You have no idea how much that would mean to Euclase. She'd absolutely adore that." Turning away for a moment, Carnelian looked to the stars as they twinkled in delight above. "I'd simply have to pay you for your time at the very least. Being a student isn't cheap and those supplies and paints probably cost a pretty penny. Besides, how on Earth could I possibly repay you for making the perfect gift... She'll probably cry when she finds out."And, who knows, Carnelian would probably cry too. "Is there anything, aside from money, I could do to repay you for such a kind offer, Leucite?"
