After their jog, Tuck deemed it necessary to break for showers before finding Evan. His stomach rumbled hungrily as he dropped off his dirty clothes at his dorm.
For the second time that morning, Tuck found himself knocking on his sister's door.
"YOU ALMOST DONE IN THERE?"

Tuck didn't even bother commenting on Gnat's shirt. He knew she had a whole mess of awful shirts.
A WHOLE MESS OF THEM.
"We'll try his room first."
He paused.
"Behave your damned self."
Evan's room wasn't too far from theirs, and soon enough Tuck was banging on Evan's door.

It was a good thing for whoever was on the other side of that door that Evan didn't sleep with a gun under his pillow anymore. Property damage be damned, he would have put a thousand holes in the door if it meant putting one in whoever was banging on it. He had been sleeping peacefully for once--granted, because he was too exhausted to do otherwise--and some a*****e had just gone and ruined it. After the initial moment of panic as he was forcibly and suddenly dragged from asleep to awake came blind, incoherent rage.
Evan cursed as he struggled to throw the covers off of himself, finally stomping over to the door and throwing it open, not caring that he was only dressed in boxers, his dog tags, and a glare sharp enough to cut steel. And his sword, once he saw who had woken him up, the longer canine tooth of the blade held directly under Tuck's chin. "You better have a good goddamn reason for waking me up, grunt," he growled.

"Hey there, handsome."
Gnat ducked around Tuck and gave Evan a long, considering glance, stopping in. Areas. She then offered a wave and a wink.

Tuck very carefully reached for the back of Gnat's shirt, pulling her behind him - not because he was actually worried that Evan might hurt her, but because she was ogling.
"We're hungry," he made no move to back away, nor did he show any real fear. Someone was obviously super cwanky in the mornings. Tuck did feel a little guilty for waking Evan up. He knew what it was like not to get any sleep for days on end.
His stomach growled noisily. He gave the other man a hopeful smile.
"How's about you put some clothes on and then come make us breakfast - and you can kick my a** on the training field after I'm done beating her," he gestured with a thumb over his shoulder, "a**."

Evan's attention was only a little distracted as Gnat came and leered at him, and that was okay until Tuck pulled her out of the way. "You dragged me out of bed because you can't pour yourself a bowl of goddamn cereal? They at least give you potty training in the Army, Bubbles?" He muttered curses as he turned and walked back into his room, slamming the door shut behind him. He emerged a moment later, still muttering, but at least wearing pants--and only pants. If Gnat wanted to look, Evan wasn't going to stop her, Tuck be damned. "I ought to kick your a** up and down this hallway," he grumbled, stalking towards the kitchen.

Gnat beamed at his useage of "Bubbles," and her radiant smile became even more pleased as he re-emerged shirtless.
"I'd pay t'see that," she remarked. The morning was suddenly looking up.

He let the nickname slide.
For now.
Tuck shot his sister the ugliest, meanest look he could muster the instant that Evan disappeared into his room, and promptly looked horrified the instant that Evan reemerged wearing only pants.
"Gonna lose my ********' appetite," he muttered to himself as he moved to follow Evan.
Bubbles. She was going to ******** pay for that.
"Quit bitchin' about gettin' your beauty sleep, Marine. Got plenty of time to sleep when you're dead - and you never know when that's gonna be."
He half-jogged to keep up with the other man, shooting Gnat another glance over his shoulder before mouthing the words, gonna ******** kill you.

Evan winked at Gnat's bright smile. "I'd do it just for the fun of doing it," he told her. "Today's looking like your day, Army, if you don't shut your damn mouth." Evan was going to use so many dishes to make breakfast, just to make Tuck wash them all later.

Gnat stuck her tongue out at Tuck before following along.
"Watcha makin? I like," she drawled, "french toast."
Get it.

Tuck merely rolled his eyes and fell silent, brooding.
He loved his sister, would die for his sister, give his life for her if it meant her protection.
But goddamn, he wanted to choke a b***h.

Evan was still mad about being woken up, but at least now Tuck was quiet. Now seemed a good time to make Tuck join the Mad as Hell Club, too. "Oh, sweetheart," he all but purred down at Gnat, "I'd be happy to make you anything you'd like."

She grinned, glancing to Tuck.
"Thanks brother, I think this whole breakfast thin' was a wonnerful idea."

Tuck came to a stop.
Okay. Okay.
"Dude, that's my ********' sister. Look, if you wanna go back to bed, go back to bed, but this s**t has gotta stop because I ain't gonna stand for it - and you know I got some doozies on you, Gnat, so you should just pipe the ******** down."
His stomach let out a pathetic squelch.
"I like french toast too," he added wistfully, though he shot his sister one last warning look.
