Sometimes, the mood took Rep to talk to people. Regardless of whether they wanted to or not.

Sometimes those people were individuals he probably should leave alone.

He didn't care about what was a good idea.

Quote:

Is it as s**t where you are as it is here? I miss sabotaging your happiness instead of my own.

He thought about it a bit before adding.

Quote:

There was a ******** horrendous party. You didn't miss much. Jerry struck out, blew up the roof and made plaster angels. You'd probably have been just as unimpressed.

He wasn't sure why he felt like adding it.

Quote:
I'm in Life now.

Sasha knew that responding to Rep wasn't the smartest thing to do. She knew that things wouldn't go well, but a piece of her yearned to feel that self-confidence that she was missing, the self-confidence that had been stolen from her.

It took her a few hours to reply, if only for the fact that she wasn't sure what to say, didn't trust herself to present that façade.

Didn't want to let him know he'd won.

Then again... maybe he'd understand. They'd always had that uncanny familiarity between them. Two sides of the same coin, in certain ways.

Quote:
I won't lie to you. It's been ******** awful.

Sasha didn't know how much she was safe sharing - but after thinking about it more, there wasn't much he could do to her when they weren't allowed to be on the island at the same time. He wouldn't send anyone after her, either. That would break the rules.

Quote:
I'd have much rather been at some terrible party than here.

He was in life? Sasha's brow furrowed.

Quote:
Why are you in my division?

Rep had never been good at cunning or lies. Duplicity wasn't really in his nature, the game was about primal hatreds, raw and terrible and close. He didn't have a problem with sharing things with her, she had all the ammo she could ever need already and yet neither had any way to utilize it.

Quote:
Good, misery loves company. It's been a complete ******** disaster for me. For a lot of reasons.

He couldn't help but grin.

Quote:
Maybe, we'd have ended up fighting though you know. I can't help it.

At her last question he frowned, a twist of shame and hurt resurfacing in him at even the thought.

Quote:
Sun didn't want me any longer. Too much trouble. Life picked me up.

He wasn't sure why it was so much easier with texts. Faceless and distant, like writing in that ******** journal Melvin had made him do.

Quote:
It still hurts.
PostPosted: Wed May 22, 2013 8:03 pm

A genuine smile spread across her lips as she read the first two texts. She quickly tapped out a response.

Quote:
It makes me thrilled to learn your life has been shitty lately. Makes all of this so much easier.

Quote:
I would have kicked your a**.

She knew it wasn't true. He would have beaten the s**t out of her. Sasha knew it. She appreciated it.

Sasha bit her lip when she read the third part.

Quote:
I can't picture you as Life. You were born a Sun.

It still hurts. She knew how that felt, and perhaps she was looking for compassion in the wrong place. Sasha knew it, but... even still.

He would understand.

Quote:
I lost Nona.

She paused.

Quote:
I didn't.. LOSE her.

Sasha took a moment to think about how she wanted to continue.

Quote:
She was stolen from me.

It was easier to communicate with him when she didn't have to look into that scarred face, when she didn't have to deal with that surge of anger. Everyone else had been telling her they'd find Nona. That everything would be fine.

This time, she hoped for something different.

Somehow it felt better, stable to hear her again, like it threw the darker parts of him into balance again, like for a minute the world went right side up.

Quote:
You would have tried you mean. I would have enjoyed proving you wrong, or at the very least, proving someone wrong.

He flinched as he read her reply to him in Life and he had to take a few moments just to ground the spike of emotions he felt at it. He thought he'd been born a Sun too. He'd hoped that was the case, he wanted to be a fighter, a survivor. But they hadn't wanted him.

Quote:
I'll die a lie then.

At the following texts he found an odd sympathy, he knew how it felt to be holow and empty, without the power that being a hunter meant. To be helpless again, the way he had been before. It was wretched and intolerable.

Quote:
Then you'd better find a way to get her back. Because I refuse to let you quit for daft reasons like that.

He thought about it and added.

Quote:
Stabbing you in the ovaries helped me get Tracey back. Shame I can't offer you mine.
PostPosted: Wed May 22, 2013 8:30 pm

Things made far more sense after swapping just a few texts with the man on the other end of the world. She hated him desperately, wanted to see him fail, fall, break, shatter - but for now, he was her sick and twisted crutch. A presence in the darkness. A constant companion.

Quote:
I know better than anyone that you don't give up. Don't filth up my division just because you're too much of a b***h to fight for your own.

She was part serious, part vague sympathy. Her division was her division, and sharing it with him tainted Life. On the other hand, she knew where he belonged, and it wasn't her division - it wasn't any other division but Sun.

Quote:
I'm trying. Believe me. There's a lot of really weird things going on here. I won't lie. I'm terrified.

Sasha wanted to mention the old woman, but for now she refrained. It felt like doing so might open herself up far too much, and she wasn't ready for that kind of openness, despite all that she'd shared so far.

Quote:
I remember that fondly. Some of my most relaxing moments are spent staring at the spot I left your crumpled body.

Quote:
Don't you ******** worry about it. This place has your smell all over it. I think I saw a file with your name on it the other day, put me off my ******** lunch.

It was a strange sort of catharsis in their mutual hate, and sometimes he wondered if this was how those bizarre ******** s and m lifestyles went.

He hoped it wasn't.

Quote:
Well obviously. We are all ******** terrified, fear means you are alive. And yours tastes pretty ******** delicious let me tell you. Keep being scared. Keep living.

At her comment at the cafeteria incident he actually laughed. It was terrible at the time, bleeding out slowly, but in retrospect it was somehow fond.

Quote:
I'm glad you still think about me.
PostPosted: Wed May 22, 2013 8:58 pm

Quote:
Excellent. Don't forget I live in that Division.

Sasha was smiling, a soft, barely-there tilt of her lips.

Quote:
You're only visiting.

It was safe. She could share. It was sick, but she trusted him implicitly with these small things.

Quote:
It's hard to remember to keep living, sometimes. I won't lie.

Small things, and yet so unfathomable at the same time.

Quote:
Sometimes I wish things were simpler.

Quote:
Raw. Primal. Like they are between us - uncomplicated. We understand how things are meant to work.

Sasha shook her head.

Quote:
I think of you more than I'd like. Tell me what's been so awful there.

Quote:
Don't worry about that. It's hard to forget.
He certainly felt like a visitor, he could offer them what he had to give, and did so readily, but it didn't change the fact that Life hadn't been the division that forged him.

Quote:
And deep down I hope I am.
He found himself thinking about their divisions literally. The Sun could both nurture and murder life depending on how close it was. It was sort of amusing to him. She was far away now, maybe that was why the hate was replaced by something else.

Quote:
I know that feeling too though. I've had moments where fear of hurting the guys was the only thing that

He hit enter and cut himself off.

Quote:
If we lose, the dead people win.
He figured she would know who he meant, her of all people. His mother was just as present now as she had always been, and he doubted her father - biological or not - had been completely erased either.

Quote:
We know why we fight.
Even if no one else did.

She could mock him for what he said but it wouldn't mean the same as the others.

Quote:
Someone attacked what I am. Said I had worse sense than a woman. Trivial. But reminded me how far I have fallen.
PostPosted: Thu May 23, 2013 8:59 am

It felt like she was talking to herself at times during this texted conversation with Rep.
Quote:
You forget who you are. Sometimes I do too. Don't.

They were superior. Everything was so cut-and-dry. Nothing needed explaining between them. Everything was so simple - just as it was between herself and Wash, except that was a purer thing, nothing so ugly and destructive as this.
Quote:
You're better than they are.

She paused, deleted, and rewrote that phrase, injecting herself into the sentence as well.
Quote:
We're better than they are.

Quote:
You haven't fallen. You've stumbled. Pick yourself up. I don't like this pathetic whining. You're more than they'll ever be.

Quote:
Something beautful and chaotic and destructive and powerful.

Quote:
Just like me.

She felt refreshed, suddenly. Unafraid. More in control than she'd felt since losing Nona.
Quote:
I won't lose.

No, she wouldn't lose.

There was something deeply reassuring about being swept up in Sasha's collective terms. We. Enemies but at the same time two people who probably understood one another in ways other people couldn't begin to fathom. If he couldn't even fit words around it, he didn't expect anyone to get it. Something dark in him was eased just by the conversation and the nod of understanding it symbolised.

Quote:
You are right. You won't lose to anyone. Except me. And I won't be going anywhere either until that day.

He trailed his fingertip along the edge of the phone, as if in doing so he could touch her, feel the revulsion that was so exhilarating and terrible.

Quote:
There is nothing so hard to kill as evil, and you are the most evil thing I know.

It was almost doting.

Quote:
I suppose for us, falling is just how we learned to fly.

PostPosted: Sat May 25, 2013 6:30 pm

Ever since losing Nona she'd been feeling low. Vulnerable. Weak.

Sasha had felt as if her world threatened to crumble at her feet and she would be helpless to stop it.

Reading Rep's texts set something inside of her back to center, brought everything back into focus. That darkness inside of her woke from its slumber, and Sasha briefly closed her eyes, a sick smile toying with her lips.

Quote:
I'll take that as a compliment.

They might not yet be able to be on the island together, and she wasn't allowed to take leave, either - but in the end she believed that they would come together in some sort of cataclysmic collision of destruction.

They had to. Sasha knew that they couldn't settle for less.

Quote:
I suppose you're right.

She felt restless. Trapped.

Quote:
I want to break you.

Quote:
Oh it is. Good is boring. Good is predictable
He smirked toothily, he couldn't help it. He loved the darkness in people, the darkness in Sasha had always drawn him in, intoxicating and fascinating. There was nothing else like it he'd ever run into, that sensation of mirrored shadows, imitating one another while being somehow still opposite.

Quote:
I want to see you try. I deserve it, don't I?

It would be his punishment and his reward when they finally met up again, claw to claw once more, all the more intense for their time apart.

Quote:
In the end though I will break you first. Because you still want me. I know you do.

PostPosted: Sun May 26, 2013 3:04 pm

Quote:
What isn't there to want?

She paused.

Quote:
You're beautiful. Powerful. Raw, primal. I could sit here all day and stroke your ego, but...

A terrible smile contorted her lips.

Quote:
Somehow I doubt you need it.
