So back in September I severely damaged my ankle in a soccer game. I've been given pills, braces, exercise, and nothing seems to be working. The doctor gave the final option. The cortisone shot is all that's left. I'm TERRIFIED of needles... And I'm scared its going to hurt like hell I'm getting the injection tomorrow, and he doctor already told me to take Thursday and Friday off because I need to be off my feet. Does anyone have some advice to help me get through this? Have you ever gotten one of these shots? I need details. :'c I'm so scared!

I ripped my minicus last year and had to get a total of seven Cortisone shots and let me tell you something--It's going to hurt. Squeeze your mom's hand and cry, because it'll hurt. But the pain only lasts a few seconds. The most pain is actually from the Cortisone going into your veins, not the needle. I'm chicken of needles too, I swear, so just turn your head and shut your eyes.
After you get it, and the next day too, your tastebuds will be funny, you'll feel sick, and your ankle will hurt very bad. My knee was so inflamed the numbing agent in the shot never worked, but yours might, not sure about that. You won't want to eat because you'll be sick and nothing will taste good, but you have to eat.
After that honey, the pain is gone. Mine would only last a month and a half, but yours might last longer, I don't know. But they are amazing, really. Just don't get addicted, because they are severely bad for your body.
Don't be afraid! At least your doctor warned you. Mine just brought the shot in and stuck it straight in my knee :c
It'll be okay!

Well, I got it done.. and it hurt A LOT. I was able to relax myself, which helped more. She played around with my foot and went over to prepare the needle. I asked if I could listen to my ipod and she agreed, so I just blasted music and looked away the whole time. The Needle didn't hurt much... just the first few seconds of the actual steroid did.Right now it hurts like hell. D: But that's okay, because I get out of school for 2 days! Thank you VERY much for the advice. ♥
