OOC | Profiles - This rp is the brain child of Laughing Hyena.

"The youthful warrior woman had her sword out as it dripped with blackened ichor. She had finally cut down the last of the triad of Crimson Blasphemies she had stared down with barely a scratch on her. The crypts were now caked with their blood and dust billowed up from where their bloods slumped to the ground. Calmly she flicked the sword clean of the disgusting bits that remained of her enemies and she snatched a lantern from the nearby walls.

She, Alana of the Moonsilver Forests had been doing really well since she came to the first level daring the perils of the Labyrinth. As she moved onward towards the the door she feared nothing, expecting another typical obstacle to contend with. As she entered the greenhouse she saw lush vegetation to witness, quite beautiful to say the least as she looked bout and saw no immediate danger. Perhaps this would be a good place to set camp.

Going quickly towards a large tree she looked up checking for monsters and the like but saw nothing and began to set up camp after sheathing her weapon. Once the fire had been nearly assembled she saw an unusual shadow within the limited light of the torch. Reacting as quickly as she could manage the sword was almost out of it's sheath before a noose of some kind of white sticky residue came about her neck and snapped back up taking her with it as she came face to face with a demonic horror.

A creature with the head of a wolf that dripped greenish bile and had the enormous abdomen and legs of a spider. Struggling to get her sword out and keeping on hand on the web noose proved difficult since it was strangling her. The wolf-spider though had the cunning of a human as well and snapped her belt off like it was little more then butter with the serrated edges of his front spider legs. Her sword fell with a clatter to the ground as her eyes widened in hatred but soon surprise and fear when she felt the spider lick her cheek with its long tongue, as the wolf-spider used strands of his web to bind her arms together and hang her from a branch with only her upper body to keep her upright.

Fear ran through her at the thought of being devoured by this demonic beast and her struggles were renewed. Annoyed the spider used strands of his web to bind the rest of her body to the side of the trunk, cutting the webbing around her arms. It drew the strength from her body quickly being hanged like this as the spider began to tear through more of her armor.

She wanted to believe it was a nightmare or a sick hallucination when the legs of the spider had thrown off the last piece of her armor, a twisted chuckle seeming to rise from its venemous muzzle. A scream started to echo up through her, as she called for help, hoping that someone would come save her, but knowing the labyrinth would send no one. All the while her struggles continued as she desperately tried to kick the spider away from her which she thought she succeeded upon her second attempt.

She bought herself some time as she tried to lean her head down so she could attempt to bite through the webbing that bound her body, using all of her strength to try and break the silk-like material. When she heard the spiders unearthly howl from the ground she cursed her misfortune and her eyes widened with real panic... and in that instant she felt her strength fail her as her arms gave out.

The spider had climbed back up to her and its limbs latched around her well toned figure. Blond hair pushed aside to the front which covered her neck as the wolf-spider bit her, paralysing her body, making her not able to move. He then covered her mouth, as her will kept her screams going. It gave a murderous smile as it started to cover her with webbing, making a coccoon. Wild with frenzy like a cornered and injured animal she tried in vain to buck the beast off her but she was paralysed, and her strength was gone and with it her hopes.

As the last few seconds of light that was in her sight, she heard a sickening laugh, "Its been so long since I've had a good meal. You'll do fine." Her heart and mind snapped in two when there was nothing but darkness, suspense, and waiting for death. She cursed whatever cruel gods brought this horrific fate upon her and prayed for mercy as the beast's fangs entered her skin from the outside of the webbing once more, and slowly started to drain the life out of her. As more and more of her blood was sucked into the wolf, the poison put into her body was removed, and sobs echoed in the deathtrap.

The Labyrinth of Broken Virtue has claimed yet another victim..."

Players are given 30 points to distribute into their attributes. It is not recommended to stack points into a single attribute and leaving the rest with lower values. Each attribute is very important for survival in the Labyrinth. Beauty is the only exception since it can both help you and work against you no matter it's level. Beauty will always play a factor in most situations.

1 is abysmal, meaning you will most likely fail and suffer a heavy penalty which might also lead to fatal conclusions.
10 is the pinnacle, meaning you will most likely succeed in tasks that call for that attribute.

Strength [STR]

Physical Damage, Defense, Health
Strength measures your physical power and physique. Lifting heavy objects, kicking down doors, and breaking out of grapples are influenced by Strength. Basic physical damage is also measured by Strength and is highly valuable to those who are using physical means of attacks.

Agility [AGI]

Athletics, Evasion, Balance

Agility measures a combination of agility, coordination, and fine motor ability. It controls your basic ability at most athletic, fighting, and evasion that call for a delicate touch and underlying sense of one's surroundings. Agility also helps determine speed, reaction time, and movement.

Intellect [INT]

Spell Damage, Bestiary, Mana

Intellect dictates your capacity for magical lore, the occult, and can be vital in your survival in the dungeon. Intellect can help aid in casting powerful magic spells, identifying creatures or items, and even provide to be a very useful tool in solving survival problems.

Vitality [VIT]

Health, Mana, Virtue

Vitality measures your physical endurance, stamina, and self-control. The vital force of an individual is crucial in the dungeons of the Labyrinth as poisons, disease, parasites, and insanity can be maintained or resisted by a character of high Vitality.

Discipline [DIS]

Mental Endurance, Awareness, Virtue

Discipline helps you cope with the hardships and mental stress the dungeon has to offer from being seduced by a comely succubi harem, to surviving horrific encounters that would break one's mind. It also is useful when recovering from mental trauma and resisting it. It also directly dictates how skilled you are at tactics, your awareness and helps when detecting ambush or ambushing others.

Beauty

Fellowship, Allure, Deterrent

Beauty can be a gift and a curse. The sublime beauty of an adventure can be a lure for monstrosities fueled by lust and hunger to feast on such a delectable treat, but beauty has another more devious side utilizing powers of charisma and personality to allure allies to your side. The less "glamorous" characters are blessed with an appearance that wards off suspecting monsters, but also wards off even the friendliest of allies.

Secondary Attributes

Health [HP]

Max Health = Class Mod + Strength + Vitality

Health is your life force and determines how much physical punishment your body can maintain before giving out. Frightful monstrosities await in the dark depths of the Labyrinth that will test your physical and mental limits with cruel forms of violent affliction.

Mana [MP]

Max Mana = Class Mod + Intellect + Vitality

Mana is your body's "energy supply" maintained by a the capacity of your mind, body, and soul. Mana can be spent to cast powerful spells of magic, but also aid in forcing more energy into brutal attacks. While depleting your mana isn't as costly as Health or Virtue it can easily make even the simplest of tasks more dangerous and difficult. Mana can be replenished through soothing bathes, relaxing massages, or even a good nights rest.

Virtue [VP]

Max Virtue = Class Mod + Discipline + Vitality

Virtue measures your endurance and resistance to temptation, corruption, and lust. When your Virtue is reduced to 0 you become highly vulnerable to the hypnosis, insanity or commands, becoming an exploitable object to the monsters of the Labyrinth. Virtue can be recovered through success within the dungeon by locating treasure, completing a harsh test of of your ability, or taking a rest to gather yourself.

Beastmen

"Ever since they made contact with other races, no one knows how the Beastmen came to be or when they appeared in the annals of history. Powerful and blessed by nature to survive, the beastmen are one of the younger races but they claim to have existed before humans. Whether there is truth or not within such claims is unknown as their history is passed orally rather then with script or mural. Beastmen have incredible variety among them even more so then humans and can appear to be almost any natural animal but most are predominantly mammal like in structure. Usual insulting words to them involve the words 'beast' or 'furry'. They do not care for being called animals or something cute as they have a strong sense of personal dignity."

Benefits

Feral Might

"Beastmen are closer to their animal counterparts then they would like; however, they consider it an honor to inherit their survival instincts especially the ability to fight as if they were cornered with nothing to lose. Strength may not exceed 9 with the bonus."
Bonus: +1 to Physical Damage and Strength at 1/2 of Max Health.

Natural Endowment

"Blessed it seems by nature or whatever gods have given birth to them, the Beastmen are among the most at home in natural places, being able to easily make a home, or find a sufficient food source"
Bonus: +1 to Health and Mana when in forest, grassland, or anything similar

Drawbacks

Civilized

"Beastmen, while are animal-like, are more civilized from where they come from, or where they can go to. As such, its easier for them to go back to their primal, wild state with little but their own will stopping them."
Penalty: Suffers +1 Virtue damage

Dragonkind

Powerful, Beautiful and Graceful in appearance, Dragonkind are a humanoid variant of Dragons. It is said the race came to fruition when a Dragon fell in love with a knight and took human form to be with him. Their union brought a strange mixture of human sized, wingless beings. They have little place in civilized worlds as many races fear them, so they are prone to wander and make their own fortunes. Very rarely do they have their own civilizations but those that do whether it is by peace or through war, they are a force to be reckoned with. They are still a very young race in the world and rarer still do they find themselves with children.

Benefits

Fire Breathing

"Dragonkind have several abilities that help them survive in the Labyrinth. Their signature ability, Fire Breathing, allows them to belch embers and flames from their maw incinerating anything caught in it's flume. Thanks to their resistant scales they suffer no damage from their Fire Breathing."
Cost: 3 MP

Draconic Fortitude

"Dragonkind are durable and resilient creatures being age old decendants of beastily Draconic creatures. Scales cover their body acting as a layer of protection against weapons and even magic."
Bonus: 2+ to Health

Drawbacks

Enchanted Blood

"Because the Dragonkind's blood has dragon blood in it, it has also got some mana as apart of its blood. As such, when they use too much mana, it can damage them, and if they are hurt too much, their mana can be drained away."
Penalty: -1/4 of Mana as damage when it reaches 0

Elves

Cunning and Ancient, Elves are literally part of Mana's lifeforce. Some say they are the children of the earth itself and it's guardians. Most elves have exceptional abilities as mages and survivalists and often make their homes at one with nature. They are among the eldest of races and yet at the same time the most curious. However unlike humans they have the cunning to avoid it getting the better of them. Elves are distinguished by their long fey ears and their fair beauty.

Benefits

Exceptional Senses

"Elves have Keen Hearing and Sight and as such they are much more mindful of their surroundings concerning hidden passageways and treasures."
Bonus: Detection Save (DIS)

Arcane Expertise

"Elves are very experienced in the arts of the arcane, birthing excellent mages, warlocks, and the like. It is almost as much in their blood as it is the Dragonkind, though not as needed."
Bonus: +1 to Mana

Drawbacks

Fragile Content

"Elves whilst beautiful are more frail then most races and rough treatment tends to be worse and more exaggerated on an elf. When attacked by an monster of Large or Greater Size, or a creature whom taking a hit from is harmful, elves suffer an additional 1 damage to health and virtue"

Pamant

"Pamant are stout in stature resembling the size of a halfling and share traits with long lost ethereal entities. Commonly they are frail and generally weak in physical strength and toughness. Their ears are frayed or gnarled into strange shapes usually elongated and covered with a thin coat of fur. Pamant also bear ghostly tails that are manifested by their life force. The longer and more bright a Pamant's tail is the older or more wise a Pamant may be. Sometimes the tail can be linked with a clan, type of god, or even a memorial to a lost loved one. Pamant are the surface relatives of Innorat. The Innorat are pure sky creatures that dwell on massive floating worlds that drift far above the clouds, but once an Innorat descends to the surface they become corrupted by the Ezykel Taint slowly transforming them into a Pamant. The older Pamants that reside on the surface become crude in natural becoming fascinated in the darker deeds of society such as prostitution, thievery, and even murder.

The Ezyel Taint is usually characterized as the dulling of hands or feet, but as the taint grows it will eventually corrupt their limbs entirely as their ethereal spirit erodes at their body. They're eyes become dull and radiant while their hair gives way to a sickly dark color. In most occasions, the Ezykel Taint is irreversible and most Pamant are never allowed to return to their home world.

Pamants are fluent in destruction magic, crafting of dreadful rare weapons, and manipulating those corrupted by darkness."

Benefits

Black Charm

"The body of the Pamant is a prize to behold as even the male variety can be alluring to those with a weak will against the darker temptations. This makes the Pamant highly capable of manipulating people with temptation, greed, and gluttony."
Passive: Greatly increases one's charisma to easily persuade or tempt individual beings.

Ezykel Taint

"The Evyzel Taint is a transformation from Innorat to Pamant. One's limbs become dull to pain and generally unappealing with it's rough texture. Since the skin has become eroded by the Pamant's ethereal spirit their powers with mana become unpredictable and potent."
Touch: Minor to severe burns on target.
Mana Distortion: Can manipulate mana with limbs.
Erratic Spells: When the character fails a Spell Test the spell can become highly volatile resulting in random effects.

Drawbacks

Minuscule

"Pamant, being about the size of a halfling, suffer the consequence of a frail and small body. Making poisons, weapons and parasitic creatures a potentially lethal danger to the Pamant. Their size and appearance can even be a lure for the wicked or corrupt."

Magical Presence
"The Pamant embodies a high concentration of mana and spiritual energy making it easily detected by ethereal entities or magically attuned beings."

Human

Humans are among the most varied and most versatile of the races. Capable of surviving in any climate and adapting to their surroundings and neighbors, Humans are the most common race in the entire world. They are among the most short lived of races in terms of individual life span, but their ability to rapidly reproduce and expand along with ingenuity is what makes them capable of challenging the Labyrinths depths.

Benefits

Tempered Mind

The Human Mind sees many forms of sin and personally experiences everything depraved within the world at least once in their lifetime and well before they are fully grown. Hence Humans have a stronger mind when coping with the horrors of the Labyrinth. Virtue Damage is reduced by one but never reduced to zero.

Birthright

Humans exist in nearly every corner and have a habit of copulating with other types of humanoids by their own will or not. Regardless their bloodlines are ones that seem to take priority when it comes to what trait their offspring take up. You may pick up one of the following benefits concerning Birthright.

Beastman: +1 to Physical Damage
Dragonkind: -2 to Fire Damage
Elf: +1 to Detect Secret Doors and Treasure
Innorat: +2 to Maximum Mana

Drawbacks

Technical Hands

Humans tend to be be able to create machines and weapons, relying on the more mechanical than the arcane arts. As such, those that do happen to try to connect to the arcane have years of ancestry technology to fight through.
Penalty: Mana -2

Warrior
Health+10
Strength+2, Vitality+2
Advantages: Last Stand

The warrior is a master of all arms and armor. There are few monsters that can overpower her and she has the greatest durability of all characters even in the most dire of circumstances but she should be wary of temptation and overconfidence.

Mage
Mana+10
Intellect+2, Discipline+2
Advantages: Destruction Magic Mastery

The Mage is a powerful user of Mana who has been blessed with its abundance. She is cunning and strong of will and personality so she doesn't break mentally and is a force to be reckoned with when she has control of the situation. However she is more fragile and more susceptible to physical tortures.
Priest
Virtue+10
Discipline+2, Vitality+2
Advantages: Divine Magic Mastery

The Priest is a bastion of spiritual might and is a little bit of everything. With her god or goddess at her side no evil shall beak her will or her body. At least she hopes so, the Labyrinth has claimed many holy men and women of the cloth and woe to the Priest who find her faith severely challenged.

Minstrel
Mana+5, Virtue+5
Intellect+2, Beauty+2
Advantages: Song and Tavern Knowledge

The Minstrel is probably the master of none but an expert in all. She dabbles a little bit in everything using her voice, cunning and winning smile to thwart and outwit the Dungeons hazards. However in a pinch she can be a capable fighter. Though she is gifted in everything she wont excel at anything either. She could find her overconfident her undoing.

Survivalist
Health+5, Virtue+5
Agility+2, Discipline+2
Advantages: Wilderness Knowledge

The ranger who stalks monsters with nothing more then a bow and arrow. The woodsman who wields an axe to survive from day to day. The one who worships nature and protects it from city dwellers. These men are the Survivalist, masters of the wild and one with nature. Using nature as their ally they are capable of finding relief within all forms, capable of using their superior knowledge to identify any monster or danger and exploit their weakness. However the Labyrinth is known to challenge even their survival skills for it does not abide the rules of nature.

Thief
Mana+5, Virtue+5
Agility+2, Intellect+2
Advantages: Stealthing

The Thief relies on her stealth, athletic prowess and cunning to see the job through. She has skills few other adventurers have to face the challenges of the Labryinth. But she needs to be wary, lest she find herself easily enthralled... or worse.

Spell Sword
Health+5, Mana+5
Strength+2, Intellect+2
Advantages: Weapon Enchanting

The Spell Sword is a unique hybrid of classes combining both martial arts and magic into their fighting style. Unlike the Warrior, the Spell Sword can manipulate energy into their weapons creating powerful enchanted weapons of great power. Spell Swords are also very capable of normal spells that would normally be difficult for a Warrior.

Adventurers will be approaching the Labyrinth's many entrances. The outside can be however you choose, however the inside will be similar no matter what entrance.

-Introduction-

"The ominous clouds shield the moon from direct view as you approach the entrance of the fabled dungeon. Supposedly no treasure hunter, do-gooder, scavenger, warlock or villain has survived the horrors of this place... or at least they haven't returned from it. However every time it has claimed another victim its legend grew.

No one knows what lies at the bottom of this dungeon other then the murals that line the walls of its opening. As you approach the opening your torchlight illuminates the murals showing the fabled prize at the end. 'Those with valor, intellect and might to conquer the dungeon would be given their hearts desire. Those who fail would find a fate far worse then death itself.' The only way is onward, there is no turning back and all the choices are yours to make... so choose wisely."

"Good luck"
