I have both the film soundtrack and the broadwat soundtrack on my mp3 player. I like to is listen to the songs from each and compare.
One thing that struck me was that Rosario does the song better than Daphne. I just think that the way she interprets the music better, and her voice is better when she sings "out", because when Daphne dose it, her voice all of a sudden becomes all soft, and the transition songs wierd.
Now, I do think that Daphne was better suited for the part, but that's just me.

I actually think Daphne did it better
She had so much energy, rather than just trying to be pretty
And you have to remember, when they recorded the OBC, they had just come back from the performance, at least that's what Wilson said on something
But on the movie soundtrack, they had plenty of rest for their voices
And those are some pretty high notes on the "out" part
They lowered it for Rosario because she couldn't sing as high as Daphne could

I like Rosario better, shes sexier and I dunno cuter too. Daphne sings good but I like Rosario's dance moves better. Oh yeah and Rosario's wardrobe is nicer because Dapne's pants ew.

Psshhhno The dance moves don't count for s**t And Daphne's pants are kinda ehhhh, but the arm rubber things make up for it cool

Daphne has a harder voice to get used to... its different, where as rosario's is clearer and more "normal"

I've only heard Rosario's voice. I would like the listen to Daphne singing Out Tonight though because I want to compare the two. Does anyone know where you can find a video or something of Daphne singing Out Tonight?

I really prefer Rosario's voice. It's a little clearer and crisper. Daphne's voice was kind of airy, and, when you've been singing for 8 years, airy-ness is really annoying.

mimi's supposed to be a little...well...rougher...than i feel rosario played her. rosario's mimi came off as a little too dainty and sweet. that's why i like dahne's better.
that said, i like rosario's "without you" better than daphne's.

on my Daphne vs. Rosario:
Rosario:
- I saw her first, so she introduced me to Mimi
- her voice is smoother, but it also sounds a lot like other cast member's
- I love how she goes so well with Adam Pascal, both voice (how it blends really well) and looks (co CUTE!)
- but, when she's alone, to me, her lips really POP out and take over her face. I am not trying to insult her, but that's what I see...
- Her dancing is pretty much a classic stripper dance (well, that's the impression I got), but she puts so much energy into it
Daphne:
- the ORGIGINAL Mimi - from the workshop
- I absolutly love how she does the "get up, life's too quick, I know someplace SICK!" "meow... HA!" and the tounge-trill thing.
- her voice, yes, is rougher, but I like it better than Rosario's. It's like an aquired taste. Either you love it or you hate it, but you rembember it forever.
- She and Adam go so well together, and their voices don't blend so that they are one voice, but they compliment each other so you can really hear both when they are singing together.
- I like her costume better, electric blue pants and all. It makes her look so much more full of life than a bra and a miniskirt-thong-thing.
- She really uses the entire platform//staircase when she dances, and makes you really believe that it is the Catscratch club.
So, all in all, my final choise would deff'ly be...
Daphne Rubin-Vega as much as I love Rosario, I just plain like her better.
