This Quest is for Keilana who wishes to be a Massif.
OOC

The dry heat of Tale scorched the earth that Keilana's home stood on. It was impossibly hot, and the heat caressed everything it touched. The forest was abuzz with insects in their constant summer hum and created a cacophony of sound that could induce headaches and impatience.
The bulbs of nectar that could be found everywhere in Tale were glistening with condensation from the heat mingling with the sweet liquid inside. The usually scurrying poscuta were hiding in shade, waiting for the worst of the heat to pass. Even the earthlings in Tale had decided that today was not the day for hard work. Everyone was inside their homes.
But from inside Keilana's home, something could be heard in the forests that weren't the typical sounds of summer. Something -- or someone -- was screeching. The awful sound was coming from further into the forest and sounded desperate, angry, and urgent.

Keilana had awoken to an immediate nauseousness which was quickly relieved as she staggered outside and emptied her already empty stomach. She had just recently begun getting sick and for what reason was beyond her. But after feeling somewhat better, but the day was just like any other besides her being sick of course. She had started the day with a strange occurrence and now sitting in her home trying to weave a basket like how Takoda had tried to show her several days earlier during one of those rare rain storm days they got in Tale.
Right now she was by herself, Takoda had vanished and Jacinthus was worried sick about his lover and going off to find him. This..irritated her but at the same time she wasn't minding to have to the place to herself for the day. Takoda was sure to come back home just fine and her brother would go about doting on him. A frustrated sigh as the weave she was working on continued to come undone. As she attempted to bring the weave back under control she heard a very peculiar sound. It had started all of a sudden and continued on.
Shaking her head she wondered if she was hearing something. Standing she went to peer outside and found that the sound was louder more desperate. What...was making such a racket? It was coming from the forest and she immediately wished it would stop crying. If that..was what it was doing. Her hand instinctively went to reach for her hammer. Which wasn't anywhere near her at the moment. Blinking she realized that she wanted to find out what was making that horrific sound.
Looking at her...mess of a attempt of basket weaving she decided it was for the best if she ...gave that up and went to investigate that sound. Taking a few things to eat as well some water she grabbed her hammer and stepped outside. The heat was almost immediate like walking into a wall, but once she had recovered her breath she was off towards the forest, hammer resting on her shoulder as she attempted to discover what it was making that sound.

The forest seemed to quiet at the horrendous sound coming from the forest the closer Keilana approached, and she was close to stumbling upon the source.
There in the forest, surrounded by large, old, twisting trees, was an adult Kinfa screeching and creating a flutter of feathers and debris. The screeching continued and it was hard to make out what all the commotion was about. No doubt this was no tamed Kinfa. It was wild and aggressive and dangerous... and it was attacking something.
The dust cleared long enough to just barely make out what it was the Kinfa was so incredibly upset about. It was a boy! There was a small youngling curled into the tight ball, screeching along with the kinfa and the reason for not being able to discern what the sound was. The boys screeching was so horrific and agonized that it was easily assumed this boy was scared for his life. He couldn't have been any older than 3.

Her trek to the forests of Jahaur was a long and arduous one, her head was already beggining to pain her due to that sound certainly getting LOUDER and more desperate as she neared it source. It was making her hurry all the same, she wanted the sound to stop and stop part of it was so heart wrenching that even if it was just an animal...she would need to see how to calm it down and if that wasn't the answer...put it down.
She was surprised to find the source...accidentally thinking that it was the kifna making all that racket, but it only took a moment for her to realize the sound was NOT the animal but a young boy beneath it. He seemed to be scared and experiencing a lot of pain. It didn't take the woman but a moment to heft her hammer off from her shoulder before rushing towards the kifna.
"Hey! Get away from him!" She shouted to give both the bird and the boy warning of her coming. Though she wouldn't hesitate using the weapon on the animal she would give it a chance to flee if that was the case.

The bird heard Keilana's approach and screeched with anger. The Kinfa wasn't about to back down any time soon. The beast was almost consumed with fury as it continued to beat down on the child for good measure. Was there something wrong with this Kinfa?
The young boy found enough of a break in attacks to pull himself away from the Kinfa and crawled into the roots of a nearby tree, hiding himself from the thing.
The Kinfa, noticing it's prey was gone after screeching to Keilana again, decided that Keilana would be as good a meal as any.

[The quest calls for a battle between Keilana and the enraged Kinfa before her. The battle will play out as a normal battle, and can be chosen to contain no RP or simple and/or in-depth RP. Keilana will receive EXP at the end of the battle (in depth amount regardless of what form is chosen) and the quest RP will resume after a winner is decided.]

The kifna was attacking her, well that was better than it attacking the kid she supposed but she wasn't use to fighting a creature in flight, and when she first attempted to swing her hammer up to smack it she only managed to crash her weapon into a thick upper branch, stunning her arms at the impact.
It hurt a lot and the woman had to take a couple steps back to recover from the stupidness she had just done to herself.

The Kinfa screeched in anger before pushing down to attack Keilana. It stretched out its talons and swiped to claw at Keilana but missed it's mark. It flapped its wings in irritation.

Luckily the woman was able to recover from her horribly misplaced first attack and the kifna missed hitting her as well. Shaking her head she knew she couldn't let this creature attack a child and she hoped she could persuade it to leave her and the kid alone, she wasn't the type for needless killing. So the hammer rose again and she brought it down to hit the creature.

The kinfa retaliates!

The kinfa lifted its large wings and carried itself away from Keilana's swinging hammer. The beast screeched in obvious anger and launched itself toward Keilana, it's sharp beak leading the way.

The damn thing was persistent, she had to make sure that she placed herself between it and the kid. It managed to get a hit on her, though she was able to push it off with a heft from her hammer. Dealing a small blow back hopefully.
Glancing back at the child she wanted to make sure it was doing alright. "Move!" She called out to him, "i'll deal with it, but you need to get out!"

(19 +6) /2 = 12.5 dmg
Keilana receives 12.5 dmg.
The boy seemed to be too frightened and disoriented by the ordeal to move, still hiding in the roots of a tree nearby.
The kinfa was enraged by Keilana's attack catching it's leg, ripping a claw from one of it's toes. It came down on Keilana hard, attacking with a blind ferocity that didn't require a target. It would have just as likely attacked anything moving in the area if Keilana hadn't been alone.

Feeling the talons rake down her the side of her face and her right shoulder. It felt deep and the smell of blood reached her before she realized she was bleeding quite heavily. Staggering she knew that this was not working. Whatever was causing the kifna to go into a rage it seemed that her only real option was to try and remove herself from the battle, grab the kid and make a run for it. That ..or somehow miraculously kill the thing.
Countering the attack she backed up. Her next move was to turn and grab the kid. "Kid we need to leave. Get out of those roots so I can grab you quickly as we will run."

The kinfa screeched, satisfied that it's attack had hit it's mark. It raised itself up higher into the sky preparing to strike again.
The little boy snapped out of his fearful daze long enough to look at Keilana with confusion. Run? Run where? It didn't matter, the little boy knew when to listen to an adult and left the temporary safety the roots provided to run to Keilana. He raised his arms as he ran, wanting to be picked up and feeling safe like he would feel with his mother. Tears streamed down his dirty face and he clenched and unclenched his fists the closer he got to Keilana.
