A little blacksmith shop owned by the off island business monger couple, Joe and Mary Smith. Having heard that there was an island somewhere in the middle of nowhere in development, they rushed there and bought a bunch of building and opened various shops that were missing on the island. This is only one of them! Of course, they'll be more then willing to sell it back to anyone with a right prize.... and if whoever decided that they changed their mind and leave the island (or, most likely, die in a horrible death), they'll be more than happy to rebuy it for half the price! This is how they make their money. Until someone take over the ownership of this shop, they'll be happy to run it from the mainland, almost never coming on the island to see how it's going. The employees, NPC or not, are then free to work like always and customers to use their services.

Was she supposed to be working today? Yeah, but, however much protest her moral compass gave her for ditching her post, she couldn't deny just how boring the butchery was that day. No one seemed interested in the assistant position and she hadn't had a customer in at least a week, which had left the girl all alone since early that morning. One could only package, cut, and prepare meat displays for so long before getting the itch for some extracurricular activities. So, she had closed the butchery down and headed off to the blacksmith, where her fiance worked in what she knew to be an equally lonely environment.
Though it was twice as cool as her work. Baba paused in front of the building, giving it a few seconds to compare how shoddy and ancient it looked to the looming mansion of the mayor off to her right. But, it would be a waste of time to spend too long rolling her eyes at the giant waste of money again. She wanted to waste her time on something much more enjoyable! She strode up and through the front door, giving it a pointless knock seconds after opening it, “Are you in?” She chuckled as she let the door close behind her, “I ask that too much, yeah?” She wasn't sure if he would understand the implications, so she carried on after a beat, looking over the interior with a building excitement. “What did you make?”

Dodge was pleased to have another day back at work. He found that the warmth of the fire was rather nice on a cold winter's day, and getting out of the RV was always nice. The blacksmith hardly ever had any customers, so it was a nice place to prop up his feet and get away. Speaking of which, he was currently sitting back in a chair with his feet crossed up on the workbench. His eyes were closed and a wide smile crossed his face as he fantasized about two nice, big, juicy steaks. He'd have to stop by the butcher's on his way home and see if Baba could bring some steak home. He heard a knock at the door that startled him out of his daydream and back into reality. He dropped his legs onto the ground and stood up. He started towards the door when he heard a familiar voice. Well, speak of the devil. He couldn't resist the laughter at her little remark, even if he was the butt of the joke. He leaned in to kiss her cheek and patted her arm before turning to walk towards the workbench.
He grabbed up a key and a horseshoe that he had made earlier in the day. "It sure is nice of you ta stop on by, Babsy. We haven' had too many orders 'round here, so I've just been making little ole things ta stock up on." He turned back to her and handed over the little things. "There ain't nothing wrong, is there? I can' say that I'm all too used ta having a nice visit." He crossed his arms and smiled over at her. Now his visions of steak were replaced with a few other things. They were all alone in this little place, after all.

Baba felt a little ashamed by the surprise that popped into her mind as she saw the workmanship of the trinkets he handed to her. They were actually pretty good, for a key and a horseshoe! Not the awesome equipment she had been picturing, sure, but part of her had accepted the reality of working as a modern day blacksmith before she had went to visit the man. She did wonder briefly where the other three shoes were, but she had caught him in the middle of a work day and this could easily just be for presentation.
“Nothing wrong.” She replied after setting the objects down on what looked to be a safe counter. She wasn't entirely sure what sort of equipment a smithy had, which made everything seem a little dangerous. For all she knew, the counter top could be some sort of metal-melting stove! So, she kept her hands to herself – well, and Dodge as she returned his kiss with one of her own. “I'm in the same situation with orders. No one appreciates a good steak here. Maybe we should advertise?”
She shrugged – it just meant they had extra meat to bring home, she guessed. Plus it also meant that he had the free time to spend on her impulses! She could handle taking a break from her own work, but she wouldn't allow herself to interrupt someone else's job because she was bored, after all. “I have an order for you now.” She looked over the smithy, trying to see if she could spot something similar to what she wanted, but it didn't seem like this place really did anything cool before she had come to town. “I want a sword. A very long one.” Something big enough for her to mount right next to the doorway of her bedroom would look pretty cool.

Dodge watched as Baba placed down his handiwork. He was a tad worried that she'd pick a poor place, but that would do. It shouldn't get harmed there. He brought his attention back to her face with a smile. He was glad to hear that there was no problem, especially since it probably meant that they could have some of that fun time that he had been imagining. At first, he had thought that advertising was the reason for this visit. So he began to try to think of something creative and fun that they could do for advertising. Maybe he could incorporate his burly self into the image somehow. Yeah, that would look good. A big beefy man to use to advertise beef, it was so simple! "I say what ya could use is a good ole fashioned model o' sorts. Y'know, somethin' ta help ya get a face to yer business. Somethin' to relate ta." He scratched his hand through his hair haphazardly before dropping his arms to his sides. That seemed like a great idea and hopefully she would get right to that. It would definitely be able to help her business. Oh no. If she was able to get more business, there wouldn't be anymore time to have visits like this. He'd need to fix that. "Ta tell ya the truth, though. I think I kinda like that ya don' see much business." A goofy grin stretched across his face. He wanted to cross the room and show her how much he enjoyed these visits, but he was halted by what she said next.
So she had motives other than jumping his bones. That was a little bit of a letdown, but nothing he couldn't handle. "Ah sure, darlin'. I'd love ta make ya a sword. It's been a while since I've had anything fun like that ta make. Would ya like ta help me make it?" He began walking back to start gathering up the materials that they would need. Oh this would be so much fun! They could have some great bonding time. He knew how much Baba liked weapons and such. It was honestly a bit surprising, in hindsight, that he hadn't thought to invite her before. Maybe it was because their working hours tended to conflict with each other. Maybe it was because he just hadn't been very good to her. He'd have to make sure that this was the greatest experience ever for her. He would be sure to work his hardest to make the best sword the world had ever seen. He grabbed his gloves and pulled them back on before grabbing a piece of metal and bringing it back over to the clearest workstation.
This was going to be great. He smiled over at her and motioned for her to come stand next to him. "There's gotta be some gloves around here somewhere that could fit ya dainty lil hands." He laughed before turning to try to find some. Hmm, where were they. They had to be around here somewhere.

Advertisement? Baba liked the sound of that, actually. She hadn't seen much advertisement around the area, but that could be a good thing – it meant whatever she put up would stand out! Though.. it would have been nice if they had some billboards around, but she guessed that billboards would have to be accompanied by streets or highways and this island didn't have much of either. Still, posters would be nice, as well as mail or.. free meat samples? She wasn't sure if that last one would work, but.. “A.. barbeque with.. models..?” She wondered aloud as she glanced to Dodge for a yes or no. But it seemed he didn't like the idea of getting more business at all, which didn't sit well with her. She frowned at him as she went on to berate,
“Business is very important, Dodge. For children.” ..Now that she thought of it, had they actually talked about children? It just seemed natural to Baba that they have a son. But with two other women involved, that would mean more children to support and mouths to feed.
Her brow furrowed as she considered that more, before brushing it off because they hadn't been married and, oh, cool, he was going to make a sword with her. She went to stand next to him eagerly, keeping herself as close as she deemed necessary which was literally leaning right up against him because this was going to be great and she needed to see this happen. “Ha.” She responded with a roll of her eyes at the quip – 'dainty' didn't exactly describe her hands, but that was more her fault. Maybe she should go get a manicure done? She made a small face at the idea as she held her hands out, “Your hands are the size of my hands.” Maybe a little more slender, but not by enough for it to matter much.

Dodge smiled. "A barbeeque with models sounds like a right good idea, ma dear." He nodded his head before grabbing up some gloves and handing them over to her. It was important that neither of them get hurt because he wasn't so sure that he had any insurance. Maybe Ayaka could fix them up if they were to lose a finger. Dentists had to have some regular medical knowledge, right? He began cutting at the metal and smiled over to her. She seemed quite chipper, and that made him all the more happy. If he could put a smile on one of his lady's face, he was a happy man. He let out a small chuckle as he felt her press up against him. "Babsy, I do appreciate yer excitement, but I must say it'd be a lot easier if ya were to back up some. I wouldn't want to hit ya on accident or sumthin'." He halted to glance over at her. It began to feel a lot more like he should maybe call Ayaka and see if she was too busy right now. This might be too dangerous of a situation for the two of them to handle.
A smile crossed his face at her rebuttal. "Darlin' don't ya think I know what yer hands look like? I was jus' pullin' yer chain. I love them big hands of yer's." That wasn't the only thing of pretty nice size about her that he liked, but he wasn't going to go into that right now. He needed to have full concentration on the task at hand. If he were to try to jump on her now, it probably wouldn't be as physically gratifying as what would happen once she felt the full excitement about this sword! "First, we gotta be sure we get the right shape." He held the sword up, pretty pleased with the current shape. "How's that lookin', darlin'?" He placed it back onto the surface to allow for her to lift it and inspect it while he went to be sure the forge was ready. He probably should have checked for that first, but it had simply slipped his mind. He was pleased when he reached it and saw that there were no problems. "Alright, Babsy. If ya could be kind enough ta bring that on over here, we can get this thing'a goin'." This was nice. They'd have to make things together more often.

She pulled on the gloves shortly after he handed them to her, but she continued to stay right next to him with her eyes trained on his hands. It was good he supported the barbeque, but she wasn't really surprised. Who would say no to a day of grilling and relaxation? Baba just needed to see if Cox and Ayaka were up to it, since they were the only models she knew – ah.. ...Maybe Ayaka. She would feel guilty if she forced Cox into – oh was he sawing the metal? That was cool.
Her brows raised as she watched him cut through it, reminding her of sawing through bones, but the sound was different and certainly not as messy. She was going to ask to have a chance at it because she really didn't see how she could mess it up and it just looked fun, but Dodge had stopped and looked at her before she could make the request. “...Ah, yeah.” She grunted with just a little disappointment as she backed up, but that quickly faded away as she went back into watching him. She trailed her eyes from the saw at work to his arms, ogling them for a moment before looking back down at the saw.
“Looks good.” She responded before picking up the sword, eager to get her hands on it once he finished. It didn't look like what she expected, but she guessed this was still an early stage. If she used her imagination, she could see the finished product pretty easily, which made her grin. “The sword looks right too.” She tried to find a good place to get a hold because she had a big impulse to try it out right then, but Dodge was already needing it back. She stroked her hand up the edge gently before approaching him to relinquish the unfinished piece. Patience. She could wait until afterward to play with it. “You'll put it in the fire now? How long?” She questioned as she experimentally touched the stone of the forge – it wasn't hot, like she expected, but the gloves probably helped with that. She didn't want to test it, though, so she pulled her hand pack to her side.

Dodge took a moment to scratch his back against the stone while he waited for the blade to arrive to him. He was happy that she seemed to be relatively pleased so far, especially since it was just a hunk of flat metal at this point. "I'm glad ya think so, darlin'." He said as she moved towards him. He gripped the bottom of the blade and placed it gently into the forge. "Oh, not all too very long, hun. We just gotta get it loose so we can start ta beating on it. Actually, would ya grab that hammer there fer me?" He motioned his arm towards the table behind her as he turned to clear the surface behind him. It would probably be best for them to start the shaping over here so they could stay as close to the forge as possible. He pushed a few things and moved some others quickly. It wouldn't be too long until the blade was ready. He couldn't dare let it get too hot and make a full out of himself.
He turned to look at Baba for the few seconds they had before they'd have to start working. "I think there should be another hammer hiding over thar somewhere fer you ta use." It would probably be a good idea to get her involved. This was her sword, after all. She'd probably like to get to help some. "This is nice, Babsy. I'm right glad ya trust me with somethin' so important ta ya." He turned back to the forge and grabbed out the blade. "I think she's ready." He said with a smile before placing it out and reaching his arm out for the hammer. "I'll show ya how ya do it this first time and then ya can take it from there."

Baba didn't believe it could be anytime soon, considering how tough the metal was, but then again she was probably underestimating just how hot a fire was. After all, just after she had turned away to fetch the hammer Dodge was motioning towards, she turned back to see the hunk of metal had already started to turn black with a hint of red along the edge. That really didn't take long at all, but then what was supposed to happen next? She stared blankly at the metal as she held out the hammer to the man before it clicked and she chided herself for not figuring that out sooner. She hadn't made a sword before, true, or done much research into how it was done before marching over here and demanding it, but it wasn't too hard to figure out Dodge was going to shape it. She stepped back a pace to prepare for the loud clangs that would surely follow as soon as he pulled the blade out, but, to her excitement, he had her off looking for another hammer so she could join in too!
She didn't stop the grin as she moved to where he indicated, returning with the hammer held in two hands to make sure her swings would be as strong as can be. Readying herself as he took the blade out, she almost swung down when Dodge spoke again and she had to stop. ..Yeah, she guessed it would probably be smarter to let him show her how to do it before just hazardously hammering down. She didn't want to ruin Dodge's hard work, even with her itching to get started. She nodded at him and leaned the hammer over her shoulder, looking to him to show her how to get started.
((So sorry she didn't do much at all. D=' ))

Dodge felt very pleased with the fact that Baba seemed to be happy. He wasn't sure that she fully understood what it was like to make a sword, but it seemed that she was happy with the truth. He turned his head to look at her when he thought he saw her swinging. Thankfully, she wasn't and he could get back to quickly showing her the next steps. It would be a waste to have to put it back into the fire without getting a few good hits in. He placed the blade flat on the surface in front of him and held it into place with his (thankfully) gloved hand. "Firs' ya've gotta be sure ya got 'er all flattened out." He pressed carefully against it to demonstrate. He looked over it carefully to be sure there were no flaws before he began. Flawed metal would not do any good! No, no, no. This had to be perfect for his lady. He raised his hammer and began hitting along the edges. "Next yer gunna wanna alternate 'tween hittin' the side closest ta ya and furthes' away. 'At way ya get a nice balance goin'." He took a few more hits to show her what he meant by alternating. He wanted to be sure that his explanation was as thorough as possible. Not because he was worried that she'd mess up or anything, but he didn't want to be blamed in the event that something did go wrong.
He took a few steps back to allow her to have more space. He didn't think it would be too good if he were to get hit on the back swing. There was also the fact that he needed to go grab the materials for the next step. He gave his final words of advice as he started looking through the mess. "If ya notice tha' yer metal doesn' seem ta be takin' to it, ya just put it back on into the fire ta let it loosen up some. Jus' make sure that ya take 'er easy as ya get closer ta the tip." Laughter boomed from him before he turned to look over at her. "I know yer good wi' sensitive tips."

Okay, right. Baba had this. The woman nodded along with Dodge's instructions, staring hard at the metal as the man pounded the edges for.. Okay, she didn't see the purpose very well. It didn't look like it was effecting it much, to be honest, and she was starting to think that making a sword wasn't really the cool flashy thing she had thought it to be. At least when she worked at her shop, she would occasionally run into some kind of mess or something mildly interesting, but this was just clang clang clang, silence, clang clang, nothing. But this was something she had forced onto Dodge and, even if this made her appreciate her own work that much more, she wasn't going to put down her man's line of work. This was his passion and she was going to be supportive and interested regardless of whether she would recommend this as part of a date again. She'd stick with the end product, thank you very much. She cracked a grin as Dodge said that, taking maybe a second longer than most for the joke to register, but she got it better than, say, Ayaka may have.
“And don't forget it.” She said as she eagerly stepped into place, right in front of Dodge because maybe she had planned to pull something with him. But, whatever idea she had left her as she focused on actually getting to use her arms for something. She cracked her neck with a lift of her head and licked her lips before taking a firm hold on the hammer. She hadn't noticed how slick her hands were with the heat of the forge right there because it was really actually cold out and sweating during winter was just impossible. Nevertheless, when Baba had swung her hammer back over her shoulder and swung back down, the hammer wasn't there. Oh, no, it had gone hurtling behind her and she couldn't even check on Dodge because the loss of weight had thrown her off balance and schise schise schise the forge was right there. She caught herself on the sword before anything terrible could happen, but that sword was hot. She threw it into the forge in a panic, shouting a, “Shaisa!”
...Oh, no, now it was in the forge and it was going to be ruined! She repeated her curse as she threw her hands forward to try to get it back out but, nope, now it was really hot and Baba was silently calling past her a giant wimp for crying about the sword before. She hissed at the sword as if it could understand her, “Du hurensohn.” But, she didn't exactly care as her hands stung too much. But not even that could make her forget that Dodge was behind her when a hammer had been thrown back to what could very well have been his head. “Dodge? Okay? You – uh, okay?” She spun around to assess him, holding her hands out as she waited for the pain to recede, hoping that Dodge had managed to live by his name and dodge the hammer.

There was perhaps never a time when a name was more unfortunate. Dodge had turned back to the shelves before him, crouching down to get a better look near the bottom. He knew that he had a bunch of those scrubby things laying about somewhere. It had been awhile since he needed to actually make anything look super nice, most things didn't have to be shiny and perfect like a sword. The sword that his woman got would definitely be the shiniest and best of them all. He had pulled out a few random scraps of metal and placed them at his feet. He was just realizing how nice some music would be when something hard slammed into his back. He quickly lost his footing and tipped forward into the mess in front of him. By the time he landed onto the cement, he felt entirely confused and ridiculous. He could vaguely hear Baba screaming something, but it sounded like it was in another language. He had heard about something like this before. Where you had some sort of brain damage and came out hearing everything wrong. Would he ever understand words again? This was the most terrifying thing he had ever experienced. Worse than that time he had to fight a raccoon off of the back porch.
He was laying face first on the cement, contemplating what a world he had just been transformed into when he heard a voice that sounded like that of an angel. He rolled himself over slowly and cautiously in preparation to view the face of an angel. Instead, he saw Baba. She was beautiful enough to be better than any angel, and somewhat more exciting. This meant that he wasn't dead! "Well, dress me up and call me Sally, I damn near though' I had gone on ta meet tha good Lord." He relaxed on his elbows and smiled up at her. "I dare say tha' I am righ' as rain, darlin'. Jus' go' knocked off o' mah feet thar. Nuthin' too serious that ole Dodge can't handle." He took a few seconds to take in the situation before standing up. It seemed like the room was spinning slightly, and he had to come to terms with this new morality. He realized that he didn't have much time; however, as something was definitely not right with the rest of the room.
He quickly noted that the sword was not over on the counter, and that Baba seemed to be in pain. His first instinct was to tend to the sword, but he knew that things were different now. "Did ya go on and hur' yer hands, honey?" He instantly felt like that was a dumb question and rushed over to fill up a bucket with some cold water. He came back and placed the bucket on a nearby surface before grabbed her wrists and forcing her hands into the cold water. Knowing that the sting was sure to come, he reached for her head and pulled her into a kiss. A kiss from ole Dodge was certain to bring any lady out of the worst of pain.

She had leaned over him, face wrought with worry as she saw that, yes, he had definitely been taken down. s**t, s**t, s**t, she didn't think she could handle having killed her lover, let alone being a murderer in general – s**t, what did she tell Ayaka? Where did they hide the body? Cox could probably help her in that, considering what the little thing did for a living, but Baba wasn't going to be happy including others into this unfortunate accident oh God. Oh, God, the idea of Dodge being dead or even mortally wounded was starting to take it's toll on her, eyes filling with salty tears as she reached down to maybe shake him or prod him or anything that would show he was still alive – ah. “Ah.” She echoed her thoughts shakily, blinking rapidly to clear her eyes because he was alright. Dodge had gotten up on his elbows and looked at her. All that worry quickly dispersed in favor of relief as she was allowed to focus on the sting of her hands instead.
But, she could handle that pretty well, Baba had gotten out of worse scrapes! She would just have to get some frozen steaks and slap them on, no harm. “Good. Good.” She responded after a moment to breath, backing up a step to allow him to get up. She frowned at how out of balance he seemed and was about to give him an apology over the sword, when he moved way too fast for her comfort. “Dodge! Sit! No walking fast, your head needs a doctor!” Came the immediate protest, coming out harsher with the ache of her hands as she tried to reach to grab him only to have to still. s**t, who was going to call the doctor? Dodge couldn't dial a phone in his condition. She was about to suggest they walk to the closest house when he grabbed her wrists and kissed her.
This would all be fine and dandy if he hadn't shoved them into a bucket of cold water, fick! She hissed, but she knew he was probably doing it for at least some medical reason and she would just have to tough it out. That didn't stop her from biting his lip hard before she registered what she was doing – but, ow, ow, who in their right mind would kiss her during this?! Dodge definitely needed to go to a hospital because no one would get this close when it hurt that much!

If there was one thing Dodge knew, it was the sign for getting down of his ladies. Ayaka was a gentle creature who was typically very subtle, but he had grown to know exactly what she meant when her eyes glistened a certain way. Baba, on the other hand, had all the subtlety of a sledgehammer. Whenever she was ready, she would typically give him a pretty strong sign. Sometimes it was a tug on his hair or a slap on the butt, but there had been plenty of times when it was a bite to his lip. When he felt her bite down, he knew exactly what she meant. Sure, it seemed a bit sudden considering they were currently dealing with something. The shop was hardly a place with the slate floors, but who was he to deny his Amazon woman her primal pleasure? He wrapped his arms around her, knocking over the bucket in the process. The thought of halting enough to fix the spilling of the water didn't even cross his mind as he continued to kiss her. This had been the dream, after all. They were all alone and secluded and he wasn't doing any work at all. This was great. "I love you, Babsy." He broke off from her long enough to pull his shirt over his head and get in a little love. It only felt right to praise the woman fulfilling his dream.
