Lenka felt such a wonderful feeling when she had pressed the ‘Send’ button on her phone. The feeling of moving through nice warm air, moving very quickly through nice warm air, to be precise. And now the air was just…well it was very warm…warm and sticky…humid. Like some sort of…humid hot air?

The child opened her eyes, mouth falling open in absolute surprise.

They were no longer in Destiny City, no, they were somewhere far away from that. Far away from everything, to be honest. They were in a jungle of sorts, with vines and trees and…
And it was very quiet.

The chibi senshi was still holding onto Remarque’s hand and she glanced at it, making a face. “Ew! Don’t touch me. You’re gross.” She looked around, unable to hide her own wonder at the all around beauty of this planet. “I guess…I guess this is Lenka…? This is…my asteroid?”

She glanced down to the ground, expecting to see a large brown furball, but instead saw only her pink boots, and a lot of leaves. “…Julienne? Hey…where are you, you fatty?” The senshi hesitated, looking around a few steps around them, then swallowing, looking to Remarque. “I think…I think I lost my cat!”

This was a disaster if she had ever seen one. The guide that was taking them to space and who was going to be helping them get back was nowhere to be found.

They had forgotten Julienne.

The trip away from Destiny City hadn't quite been what Remarque was expecting, though he certainly wasn't complaining. A quick pat down told him he was still in one piece—and that was a good start. It was bright and humid—disgustingly so—and he wished he could roll up his sleeves and fan himself.

Not wanting to ruin his imagine, however, he suffered through it.

It seemed like this trip was going to be full of suffering.

Holding Lenka's hand had been awkward, but not necessarily unbarable. What might have made the whole thing unbearable was the fact that Julienne—the supposed keeper of the peace—was missing.

He had been skimming the area, trying to take in the sights and find out more about where they were when Lenka mentioned the cat; his eyes fell to the ground for a quick scan.

Moving his feet across the leaves to try and gauge if the cat had gotten buried beneath them, he huffed. "I'm sure she isn't lost, Lenka. She probably just…got stuck underneath all these leaves or something." He continue to toe at the leaves, as if expecting the cat to pop out any second—and then froze, gaze lifting to stare at the chibi. "Wait—what do you mean you guess this is Lenka—haven't you ever been here before? This can't…this is your first time here?"

She couldn’t have been forgotten, she was the one who got them here…and more importantly, she was the one who was going to get them back to Destiny City after this was all over and done with!

Lenka dropped to her knees, ruffling through the leaves and making a real mess of them. After about a minute of searching, she finally just sat up on her knees and looked up at Remarque, tears bubbling into her eyes. “I’ve never been here before, and I don’t know what to do now that Julienne’s not here, and I thought she’d be here to help…Remarque, what if she fell off somewhere in space? What if I killed my cat and she exploded in the vacuum of space like some horrible…thing? What have I done?”

The chibi looked down at her hands, trembling slightly. Maybe this had been the real reason her mother hadn’t allowed her to ever have an animal that could leave the house. Because she was a cat killer.

A tingle of dread began to build in Remarque's stomach; being in space with Lenka was one thing. Being lost—potentially trapped in space was another. How was he supposed to survive with just her?

"Lenka," he said, thinking the most appropriate thing to do was to get her to calm down. "I'm sure your cat is fine. Don't," he almost faltered at her tears and looked away. "Don't cry or anything. She probably just got distracted licking the plate clean and wasn't standing close enough. I think we would have noticed if we lost her on the way over here."

Not that he was paying attention or anything; he'd just assumed this was going to go down without a hitch. "Why don't we just calm down and focus on what is going on, all right? So don't cry."

For the love of God, don't cry.

"Just take a deep breath. I'm sure we'll figure it out," he said as reassuringly as possible. "I'm sure she's fine. Those cats, you know. You didn't kill her, Lenka. Trust me."

The redhead looked away from Remarque again, giving a soft sniffle, then hesitated, looking back up to the Dark Mirror Senshi. “You really think so…? You don’t think I killed her…because if I did…I really don’t know what I’ll do…I just got her and everything…” She swallowed, scrubbing at her eyes.

Finally, the child took a look around the area. “…It’s very green on Lenka…isn’t it…? And it’s really hot here too…and sticky.”

Lenka flopped down onto the ground, laying back and giving a slightly nervous giggle when she found she could almost hide down in the lush plants that coated the ground of the asteroid. Finally, the girl sighed, speaking still from the ground. “So I wonder how we get back? Or do you want to explore some more before we go back? I don’t know. What if we can never go back? I don’t want to be stuck with you…I still don’t like you I think. You’re still a jerk.”

Even if he was being kind of nice right now...kind of.

"Whatever, you're still a brat," he shot back without really even thinking about it. "While we're here we could explore some. I guess. To be honest, this isn't exactly what I was imagining a homeworld would look like. I was thinking…"

He shrugged, eying the green. This place looked so alive—like he could have opened the pages of a National Geographic and been sucked right into South America or something. In the middle of some lush rainforest, hidden away from the rest of civilization.

Beyond that, it didn't look like space.

"…I don't know. Big floating crater in the sky. Huge view of the stars. Big, black space. Not that this is bad, just not what I was thinking."

It was difficult to try and focus on the asteroid around them—not when he still had to worry about how they were going to get back. He didn't get the impression that there were any mirrors lurking on the planet so he could just whisk them back home. At least Lenka wasn't talking about losing the cat anymore; even after all his time around girls and tears, he didn't have a damn clue what to do. "What did you have to do to get here? You were just pressing buttons or something, on that phone? Is there like…a tutorial hidden in there? —Maybe Julienne will text you how to get home if we wait long enough?"

…Was there even any reception out here?

The chibi senshi continued to look around, seeming slightly in awe of the place, then paused, giving a little frown, some strange sort of…feeling? A flash of something. Of swinging through the trees on a vine with some blonde haired guy…but she was older? Huh. That was strange…but right now…

Right now they had to figure out a way to get back to their real home. Back to earth and back to Destiny City so they could work on fighting again…because that was what Lenka and Remarque did best. Fighting. That’s how it always should be and how it always was.

She pulled her cell phone out, looking it over. “Maybe if I just press lots of buttons and think about going home…do you think that would work? I don’t think Julienne will text me…she doesn’t have any thumbs after all…how would she text me…?” Lenka shrugged then sighed. “Anyway. I’m going to start pressing buttons…so hold on to me so I don’t leave you behind…okay? Because that would just be bad, I think. But maybe not so bad for me…then at least I wouldn’t have to deal with you.”

Remarque hesitated; he wasn't sure he wanted to risk the girl blasting them to an even stranger planet. But…she seemed ready to start pressing buttons, and the only thing worse than being stuck on a planet with a chibi was being stuck on a planet alone.

He didn't think it was a wise idea to give her the option to leave him there.

"You know, for a girl your age, you're awfully cruel. You wouldn’t really leave me here, would you?" he huffed; he wasn't sure how to touch her without it being weird. He had no intention of holding her hand so instead he forced down his discomfort and planted his hands on the girl's shoulder. "And to think, I was even starting to warm up to you."

He hunched forward a bit so he could see over her head and look down at her phone's screen. Which was far more useful than a compact; why hadn't Ares invested in some magical phones for them? He wanted to shoot into outer space whenever he had the whim!

And he'd have done it right, too. Not left that poor cat all alone and shot them up here without a damned clue what was going on.

Lenka just scoffed. “Yeah right. You’re a jerk.” She stared down at her phone, hesitating a long moment before sighing. What button was she supposed to press? Maybe if she just did the opposite of how she had gotten there…if there was only a ‘GO BACK TO EARTH NOW’ button…that would solve everything, and it would be so much more user friendly.

She sighed staring at the phone for a long moment, then just pressing the home button again, this time thinking about Destiny City and her mom, and her pigs and everything she liked about that home. Her real home…not some wild jungle out in the middle of space. That was just silly.

Finally she felt something and the senshi closed her eyes, pressing the button just a little harder.

When she opened them again, there they were, back in the middle of the park. Back on earth. Back home once again. “Ah! I did it!”

And they weren’t dead! That was such a plus.

Remarque, while still right next to Lenka, did not look as though he had enjoyed the transit back. Ultimately there had been no shaking, no jostling, but he couldn't help but feel that his stomach got left behind—again. Even as he removed his hands from Lenka, one settled over his stomach, as if such would tame the strange twisting.

He was too uncertain about it all to celebrate with the girl; a long few seconds of glancing around was somehow enough to reassure him that this wasn't just some extremely accurate doppelganger of their city.

"That you did," he finally said, though a part of him was a bit disappointed Julienne wasn't there to go into what had just happened. "Good job."

…Not that he wanted to praise the chibi, but damn—he was glad she hadn't just decided to leave him back there. Not that he wouldn’t have retaliated and tried to burn the whole thing down, but it was just reassuring to be back home.

"So. That was…interesting. We should definitely do it again sometime."

…Or not; he still wasn't sure what to make of it all.

Why was she allowed to go back to her homeworld, but he didn't know the first step about getting back to his? What fairness was there if she got a fast ride to some planet far away and he hadn't heard so much as a whisper about where to find his?

Lenka moved away from the Dark Mirror Senshi and gave him a very long look. He wanted to do this again? He wanted to go back to her asteroid again with her? Oh that was a funny thing to say. Very funny indeed. “I still don’t really like you though…so I don’t know why you would want to go back with me one day…that seems very silly, but I’m glad we got home…and uh. I’m going home home now, so bye.”

She took off, then hesitated, looking back at Remarque and giving the smallest of waves.

So maybe he wasn’t SO bad…when he wasn’t pushing her down…
But seriously…he was still a smelly poo head.

Remarque snorted at the chibi, and before he really paid attention to what he was doing, he had lifted his hand to offer her a wave. When he realized what he was doing, he scowled at himself and spun quickly.

This definitely wasn't going to count as his one free ride into space. This trip was one shade shy of an abomination—and Julienne was nowhere to be seen. He was going to have to find that cat and insist she pick out someone else to hitch a ride with. Not that the trip with Lenka had been miserable (he'd expected so much worse…) it just…

Hadn't left him feeling like he thought he should.

There was nothing deep, nothing spacelike.

Or maybe it was.

Maybe he just missed that damned rainbow road.

He just wanted to see the stars.
