 For once he was leaving his herd to go on a little journey. He felt it was odd he was the only one that was either single or never came across a mare to leave his heart too. His mother and grand-mother were starting to worry about the stallion. So after being fed up with all their bickering and pushing he made his way out to find his true love. He trotted along in a quiet forest find everything to be rather serene and calm.
He knew little of danger for he barely stepped out of his herd. Though his herd had harbored unique breeds like harpy halves. Which he had heard they were rather violent? Though they did not seem to be so the ones he met. He hummed a light tune while trotted along having little care to the world like he usually did.

 Mouse had spent the winter months with her mother and father, tucked away in the woods where her deep blue pelt was hidden by the thick evergreen foliage. She was too nervous to venture out when snow was thick on the ground as she could be seen from a great distance against the white.
Eventually the snows had melted, and spring was in a full bloom, heading towards summer. So once again she would head out of the woods, tiptoeing along as best as she could on hooves, scurrying from tree to tree, until she was absolutely sure that there was no one around. Then she would venture completely out into the open, her tail swishing like an agitated cat, eyes darting around, ears flickering all the time to catch sounds of anyone approaching.
Finally she relaxed very slightly, though her nerves continued to quiver like tall grass moved by the wind. She managed to slow her pace, walking along the open meadow, trying to enjoy the sun and the smell of the flowers on the breeze.

Bou continued on in his usual happy daze that his mother always nagged him about. The young wind noticed up in the distance a scent of another soquili. He usually was not keen on meeting anyone but being he had to be more open he decided to head forward to meet the soquili. He trotted along and paid little attention to his surroundings. Being such a sheltered soquili he rarely ran in to danger and did not have much of a sense when it came to a skinwalker or a kalona or whatever vile creature might roam the land.
The young wind notice a mare in the distance and put on a smile headed over to greet her.

Mouse's nerves were slowly unknotting, her neck muscles less tense and her legs weren't locked either. The gently swaying grass was brushing against her, and she took long and deep breaths, still enjoying the flowery scent that was on the air around here.
'I am calm, and safe..calm and safe.' she murmured, her leonine tail, strangely add odds with the rest of her, for she had no horn that would usually accompany such a tail, gently swished behind her.
It was whilst she was doing so that she opened her eyes..and looked straight at the stallion that was heading directly for her. The words stuck in her throat, and she froze, unsure whether or not to run. She couldn't see where to run to, and as he was winged he would catch her anyway.
So Mouse just resorted to doing what she had done as a filly, sinking to the ground and curling into a ball, which was far more awkward to do as an adult! She trembled there, one eye opened and peering through a gap between her front legs as he got closer.

He stopped in his tracks seeing her cower in fear and he tilt his head in confusion. Was she afraid of him? He was normal old wind and had nothing special about him like some soquili he had come across “Um miss? Are you alright?” he asked her.
It was not his intention to frighten her. Sure he was a little bit of social awkward and had little ways with the women unlike his herd master Swift Wind on which his grandmother detested. He bowed down a little lowering his head close to her form and nudged her lightly with his nose “Why are you hiding?” he asked.

At the touch of his nose she squeaked and tried to make the ball she was in tighter. All Mouse really succeeded in doing though was kinking a muscle and she winced, popping up to try and release it, wiggling the offending leg and bending it until it was sorted.
She hadn't forgotten about the stallion that had startled her, and she looked up reluctantly at him. Though he didn't seem quite like the looming ogre her panic had made him out to be. He looked, well, normal. Quite nice actually. Her body was still quivering with her jangling nerves though, and she stood slowly on jelly legs.
'..' she opened her mouth, but her throat being dry couldn't form a word right away. She swallowed and tried again.
'You frightened me..' she said in a croaky little voice.

“Me? Frighten you?” he sounded shocked, someone like him being he was so normal and plain unlike other soquili running around. To think that he would scare a mare, he would never have guessed it possible. The wind stallion could not help but chuckle a little at the sight of her but quickly he stopped trying not to offend the mare.
“I am sorry. I did not mean to do so. I swear it!” he said as he bowed apologetically.

Mouse was beginning to wish she hadn't insisted that her dear hawk friend Stryker stay at home and let her go out alone. Not that the hawk would have attacked this stallion, no, the hawk familiar was skilled and shrewd, and could see if someone meant trouble just by a piercing glance.
No, he would have gone over to the stallion before he reached Mouse, asked him his purpose for being there and then reassured his mare friend. But he wasn't here to do that and now here she was, trembling on the floor again. Her ears drooped at the small sounds of laughter, and she looked away, feeling mortified.
She managed to look back at him when he apologised, which he seemed sincere enough in doing so, though really he didn't have anything to be sorry for.
'It's not..I'm mean..you're not scary..I'm just..no good at being on my own..' she whispered the last bit, sure now that she would seem either very weak or just someone to avoid.

Bou listened to her and gave a nod then tried to think of what he should do in such a situation. He thought back to the males in his herd. They all had different personality since Swift Wind even though he seemed like a knight at times was a bit of a player and then there was Rave who solely existed for his mate. He came to the conclusion that best stallion to follow in example of was Lutherian the guard of the herd “I see, shall I escort you home then?” he asked her with a warm smile. He felt the need to make sure the mare made it home safely.

'..' Mouse opened her mouth, unable to form any words at first, her throat seizing up again at the thought of spending time with this stranger. And again she wished that her faithful familiar had been there with her. But he wasn't, and so she would have to deal with this situation herself, a thought that caused her to feel a little faint.
'..I wouldn't want to be a bother.' she finally managed to say, figuring that maybe if she was just polite to him he would just go on his way and leave her to try and get home on her own. Not that she was sure if she would be able to make her way now as she was very on edge now.

Bou was oblivious of her discomfort. He was never good at reading other soquili that is what his mother always ragged on him about. The stallion smiled at the mare "It's no bother at all! I could never leave a scared mare alone!" he chimed.
Then he looked around then back at her "So which direction, M'lady?"

It seemed obvious that he wouldn't take the small hint she had dropped (though, she was still in two minds about getting home on her own) and so she gave a strained smile.
'Oh okay..' she murmured.
'..I mean, if you don't mind. I think..umm..' she looked around, hoping for a hole to appear that she could jump into but one didn't materialise.
'It's uh, this way..' Mouse gave a little nod in a direction, and finally got onto her trembling legs as she stood up. She stood still for a moment, trying to calm herself so she could walk.
