Since we didn't have just a general discussion thread this year, I decided to make one. I figured that maybe this could help us to keep the guild a bit more active this year. smile

So, feel free to use this space to talk about whatever--writing, not writing, life, anything.

It's starting soon, and I couldn't be more excited! I'm so excited that I'm talking to myself in this thread, lol! And I'm extra pleased that this year's SuWriMos start on a Saturday, which means that if I choose to stay up until midnight to celebrate and start writing, I won't have to go to work the next morning. Hooray!

Not only that, but I'll be at my parents' house this weekend, instead of my cabin in the woods, so I'll be in my childhood bedroom and it will really feel like SuWriMos in the past. Although, to truly channel my childhood writing, I should bring a flashlight under the blankets with me so that I can write novels after my parents tell me that it's time for lights out. XD

Aaaaanyway, anyone else super excited for SuWriMos to start? Any exciting plans to celebrate?

I work this weekend, unfortunately. XD So staying up to write is not the best idea this year.

I'm excited--to an extent. I'm somewhat worried I won't leave myself enough time to write. I have a lot going on this summer. I also usually fail horribly at this, so there's an understandable apprehension with it. But my goodness gracious do I ever want this book to be done. That thought will be enough to keep me going, I think. It's enough to get me excited.

I'm with you on the apprehension because of past failures (and the just wanting to get this novel finished once and for all), but I'm trying to ignore all of that and just focus on being excited for now haha.

In other news, as usual, I have given thought to my project and come up with a strategy that would work well for planning it..... And then proceeded to not follow said strategy at all. I guess I still have two days, though? So I could yet get this thing sorted out haha. Or I could just continue to wing it.

Every time I make a plan I fail to follow it. I do like having it to look back on and laugh at later, though.

Haha that happens to me a lot too. However, with huge projects like this one, that I've been working on for a long time and need to change/rewrite/finish, I sometimes have to do some planning to figure out all of the pieces.

Hi hi hi everybody! =D I am in the same apprehension-excitement boat as you guys. I used to be so successful with SuWriMos but the last few years have been a bit pathetic. I'm hoping that since I won't be in school any longer that will help this year. ^ ^

I'm hoping for the same! Did you graduate this year?

PS: Only 6 hours left in my time zone. biggrin Going to go out and do a bit of geocaching to fill some of the time in between now and then.

I just finally sat down and figured out the order for my chapters, so we'll see how long that lasts.

And yes, hi hi!

Six hours left for me, too, but I'll be asleep before midnight. I only have a half-shift tomorrow and I'll be home at noon, so I'll catch up then. Gonna see if I can pull off a chapter a week.

Haha, that's understandable. I don't usually stay up till midnight, but I have the day off tomorrow, so I figure that it'll work out. Good luck!

Almost 10 pm here. I'm exhausted, and it's looking increasingly unlikely that I'm going to manage staying up 'till midnight. Oh, well. I guess I'll start work in the AM.

Ooof. Was trying to see if I could bang out a whole chapter today but I keep losing focus. Got most of it out but man is locking myself in a dark room for hours difficult all of a sudden. gonk Pre-social life I was so pro and locking myself in a dark room for hours on end.

FML.

Wrote nothing today, because: a week ago lightning hit the house, fried my modem, and the rain/flooding nearby took out the phone line. Today, get 'new' modem, get phone line fixed.

'New' modem password protected, tech support less than useless. Phone line works, BUT sounds like nightmare static. (water on the line, says tech support) DSL? Still not working. (not that we could use it, as modem is password protected and no amount of googling got me a way to reset it)

At least the ebay dude who sold me the modem refunded the money (before I even sent the modem back! Miracle!)

So I'm leeching off neighbor's wifi on a tiny touch screen for God knows how much longer. I miss Netflix.

Also, majority of Kindle free books recently have been romance. Kind of want to throw the 'fake marriage but they fall in love anyway' plot into my post-apocalyptic plot. Is it too cliche? Because it fits perfectly and would be surprisingly logical for the situation.

Meadow: I officially graduate in July, since English graduation ceremonies are later in the year, but I'm done with school forever at this point! =D

Morigale: I say go for it! It's only cliche if it's not done well, in my opinion. XP

Okay, so I got nothing done yesterday. I basically had a 13-hour work day volunteering at my university. Today I'm kind of busy too, but I'm determined to hit 10k on my project so that I can just count my SuWriMos progress from 10k onwards. And I wanna do some planning. >_>

PMS: Yay graduation! Being done is such a good feeling. I graduated a couple of weeks ago. ^.^

Morigale: I'm with PMS--go for it!
