Marlin had thrown himself into shop work after the night where that he’d encountered the two creepy dog monsters that King Arthur Knight (Camelot his mind corrected) had called youma. He’d avoided the library too.

But he hadn’t been able to quite forget the events of the night where he’d ended up fleeing for his life from a pair of ink coloured hound-shaped monsters and found out that apparently he was supposedly something called a Page of Earth. And he’d started to find himself starting to question some of the news reports that he’d been hearing about the terrorist threat that the city was suffering from.

There seemed to be only one way to get answers, which is why after Marlin shut up shop, he had reluctantly taken the walk across town in the direction of the library. He needed more information and Camelot had appeared to know a fair deal.

He had hesitated by a park, not sure whether he should seek out the other as he was now or as the form he had changed to that night and that had prompted the question if he could even become what he’d turned into that night, which had prompted slipping into the park (where there didn’t seem to be anyone around) and trying.

It took a few times, but eventually just he was beginning to think about giving up, the clothes that he was wearing as Marlin faded away only to be replaced by the same clothes he’d been wearing that night.

Falias’ clothes… Falias – it was a name that he knew somehow belonged to him, although the Page still had no real reason to know how he’d come by the knowledge of it.

The tingle of another knight was enough to make Aventine's entire evening worthwhile; she had been a bit sluggish in terms of actually being a good purveyor of justice, but she was trying. Motivation was just a bit more difficult to find than she cared to admit. That and the fear of her mortality.

Chaos was as far from her mind as she could manage, and after the few rough encounters she'd had in the past few days, she was more than willing to take it easy—so she had. She'd spent some time with friends, spent a few evenings at home. Relaxed.

And just when things were starting to seem normal again, she'd powered up. It was a little different now than before; she was hesitant to approach anyone she didn't immediately think to be an ally. At least until she got comfortable powering up again.

Thankfully, it wasn't a Negaverser or a Dark Mirror Senshi that flickered first on her radar. A page? Yes, please.

And so close? How could she resist?

She redirected her course so she could reach the page before she lost the energy signature and, thankfully, he wasn't too far away. She made her own path to him and certainly seemed eager when she got near enough to call to him. "Hey!" she called, waving quickly as she trotted over.

Aventine was not shy in the slightest; while she was approaching, she gave the page a good look over and smiled, very much liking what she saw. "Wow, looking good—what are you? I mean, I know you're a page, but for what?" She paused and, not wanting to be perceived as rude, extended a hand in greeting. "What I mean to say is—Hi, I'm Aventine, Squire of Venus, and it is really nice to meet you!"

Falias was new to all of this – so new in fact that he had not yet found out about energy signatures 101. In fact he knew little beyond the fact that his name was Falias, he was supposedly an Earth Page (courtesy of Camelot) and that apparently there were chaos monsters running around that he was supposed to stop (again courtesy of Camelot) and he still wasn’t sure where the mistletoe was supposed to fit into all of this.

A voice calling out a greeting had him automatically, spotting the woman in pinks, orange and yellow approaching in his direction. The outfit was a tad too pink for Falias personally, but certainly flamboyant and he thought the little tri-pointed hat perched on her copper curls suited her.

“Hello” his smile was friendly as he returned her greeting. “Nice to meet you too Aventine” he was puzzled at just how she knew he was a Page, was it something to do with the costume? Something on his face? “I’m Falias and apparently I’m a Page of Earth.” At least that’s what Camelot had called him.

"Oh, a page of Earth?" she piped up, smile still planted firmly on her face. "I've met one other—Camelot?" she proposed; he was the only knight that she knew, and certainly the only other guardian of Earth—at least in namesake. "But it's good to meet you! I have to be honest—it's so good to run into you. I have had the worst luck with people recently. It seems like everyone I bump into is Negaverse, Dark Mirror Senshi—and not a one of them has been in the least bit pleasant of late."

She had met her fair share of accommodating—pleasant, almost—servants of Chaos, but for whatever reasons, all the good ones seemed to have disappeared and all the bad ones were out, full force.

"I hope you've had better luck than I in terms of who has been paying you visits. Nobody's given you too much trouble, right? I'll rough them up," she promised offhandedly; she might not have been the strongest, but she was more than ready to rush in if anyone was giving any of her allies trouble.

…Maybe it was just a front, though. She was still pretty shaken about a few of her run-ins, but it was invigorating to be with another knight; she could already feel her spirit rejuvenating.

“Dark Mirror Senshi?” Falias queried. “What are they?” He was pretty sure he remembered mentioning something called a Negaverse, in conjunction with the chaos monsters that had chased after him, but Dark Mirror Senshi was a new one on him.

“This is only my second time like this” he admitted at last, most likely sounding as clueless as he felt. “Camelot saved me from some things that he called youma and then I was suddenly like this. You’re the second person I’ve met while like this.”

Aventine seemed absolutely surprised when Falias asked about the Dark Mirror Senshi; it was the first time she had known something another page didn't. "Oh," she said shortly, taking a few extra seconds for that fact to sink in. "—Well, Camelot's a good guy," she insisted, trying to buy a little more time to think of something intelligent to say to describe them.

"Well, I'm lucky to be the second person you met like this! I feel really honored! Tell Camelot I said hi if you see him again, won't you? I don't blame him for not throwing the Dark Mirror Senshi information on top of the youma and negaverse and knight and all of that. The short version is that they're bad guys, always wearing lots of black. They don't have weapons like the Negaverse—at least so far as I know—but they hurt, just as much. I thought…" she hesitated, not sure if she was ready to share such information. Swallowing her fears, she mustered up enough willpower to tell someone. "I thought maybe they could have been good guys. At one point in time. But for every nice one, there are two bad ones hiding in his shadow, all right? …They're tricky. Don't…let them trick you, too."

As Falias listened to Aventine speak, he started to think that this whole thing sounded a whole lot more complicated and confusing than when Camelot had been explaining it – and to be honest the whole crystals and monsters that Camelot had told him about had been confusing as heck.

He'd nodded at her mentioning of not letting them trick him though – then again he didn't intend to have anyone trick him if he could help it.

“So these Dark Mirror people are like the Negaverse people that Camelot mentioned” he said at last and then a thought occurred to him “Wait weapons? These Negaverse guys have weapons?” He was pretty sure that Camelot hadn’t said anything about actual weapons.

"Uhm—yeah," she replied, quickly checking herself to make sure she wasn't feeding him bad information. She might not have known that they had legitimate weapons had it not been for Orah's incident with Painite, so she wanted to make sure that this guy had the information so he could better prepare himself for the day he was at the end of one.

Hopefully that day never came, but it was a thought constantly nagging Aventine from the back of her mind.

"Bad ones, too. I haven't heard, like, semi-automatic guns or anything, but sharp things. Slashy things. "I've seen—let's see, what have I seen. I know one of the strong ones has a spear, but I've run into some other ones—rubber snaky thing, ribbon…thing, baton, uh—pinwheel, I think? This one b***h—sorry, lady—" she corrected, though very sourly remembered Hopeite, "Had a cigarette, so I guess some are more lucky than others. But they all hurt, I can tell you that."

It was a strange mix that Aventine listed, but they all sounded better than the piece of mistletoe that he seemed to have been 'gifted' with... Well maybe not the ribbon thing or the pinwheel - those just sounded plain weird.

But even the cigarette sounded more useful than the mistletoe - the mistletoe that seemed to have displayed no magical properties whatsoever - well apart from the appearing out of nowhere.

"So the Negaverse people have weapons," he said at last "And from what Camelot was telling me we're supposed to stop them and their youma things." He sighed "I'm not really sure what good this thing is though."

Summoning his weapon to him, Falias showed Aventine the mistletoe, the bells making a chiming sound as he wondered whether the Dark Mirror people that she'd mentioned had weapons too.

Aventine looked at his weapon with obvious curiosity, but judging by the way she was chewing on her lower lip, she was trying to figure out how it could be of use to him. "I guess you could whack people with it, right? It probably stings a lot. I've got—" she held her hand out, willing the thin-necked perfume bottle to appear. "This. Which, I don't know if it has any magic. If it does, I haven't seen it or found out how to make use of it. But it's definitely good for throwing at people! That's saved my a** more than once, and it'll probably continue to do so. Not that I wouldn’t like, like…an axe! A big one! But. I mean, you know. I guess good guys shouldn't be swinging around lethal weapons." She sighed and lifted the perfume bottle, spritzing herself with floral fragrance. "Oh well, whatcha gonna do. I mean, I guess get more powerful. Or start carrying a baseball bat. But maybe one day that little stick will change into something else? I guess you'll just have to keep at it and find out. But I mean…stay safe, too. If you have to, maybe travel with a partner or something? Someone who has your back. I've done it more than once."

She bared no shame in such, either; every time she had gone out to patrol with someone, she had gone home having learned something new.

If Aventine was wondering what good his weapon was then she was in good company, Falias was still wondering why he had been 'gifted' with such a rubbish weapon and had the feeling that the fates were probably having a joke at his expense.

"I tried that" he admitted. "Whacking something with it, that is" he added. "Although I'm not sure it really noticed." In fact the trash can he had whapped the dog-like youma thing with had probably done more good.

As he eyed Aventine's perfume bottle Falias had the feeling that maybe he wasn't the only one being laughed at by the fates. "At least yours is heavier than mine" he said with a rueful grin. "Although I'd second you with the axe or even the baseball bat given that these Negaverse people have weapons and if the other youma are anything like the things that attacked me then they probably have claws and things."

He blinked, looking surprised at her mention of a partner "We're supposed to have partners in this?" Falias was pretty sure that Camelot hadn't mentioned partners or anything like that, though to be fair he had been pretty much reeling from the whole being attacked by weird monsters and sudden costume thing.

He wasn't sure about the whole idea of partners either though, preferring to get things done himself - on the other hand Falias also knew he was over his head right now and someone to watch his back sounded pretty good.

Another thing Aventine said struck him "Do you know how to get more powerful?" She seemed to know a fair deal, certainly more than he did and he hadn't had the chance to ask Camelot.

Aventine blinked at Falias and then rubbed the back of her neck thoughtfully. "Well. Let me see." Where to start…

"I'm not exactly sure how I got more powerful. Mostly it was a lot of floundering around, it feels like. For a while I just talked to people…kind of just tried to figure out who I was, what I was doing. I'll be honest—I've been doing this for months, now, and I still haven't figured everything out. I guess if I were more of a…better student, I might have figured it all out by now, but…It feels like no matter how much I learn, there's always more. At least it's motivation to keep coming out here! But uhm…let's see…"

She shifted positions and tapped on her lip with her finely manicured index fingers. "I guess I fought a lot of youma. Scared off a bunch of bad guys. Oh—the Dark Mirror Senshi and Negas," she clarified. "When it came time for me to actually get more power…it was quick. I was with another knight—Caelian, a pretty Venus lady. Gorgeous eyes…" She looked like she wanted to release a dreamy sigh but continued, "We were just doing a little sparring. I was shaken up, scared…I broke my bottle. It just…shattered. And I was horrified, and it just sort of flickered away. So—you know, I thought I wad totally screwed, never going to power up again…was being punished for being such an awful page. But…she encouraged me, and I just summoned my bottle back. Except…it wasn't the same one. And I took it and—Bam!—Here I am!"

Gesturing to herself, she flashed a show host smile and made a dainty pose to display her garments. As if only then realizing how much she'd spoken without taking a breath, she sucked one in and laughed. "I mean, ah…was that what you meant? Sorry, I got a little caught up in the moment…"

"That's okay," Falias said, admitting "All this stuff is a lot to take in and it seems totally different to the stuff they keep talking about on the news."

The news didn't mention monsters running around for a start.

He quirked a slight smile as he added "You've given me more information than I started off with though."

He now knew that in addition to these Negaverse people and the youma that there were also people called Dark Mirror that he had to watch out for and although he wasn't sure how to tell the difference between them and a Negaverse person it seemed they wore a lot of black - actually it seemed that all the bad guys so to speak seemed to favour black based on what Aventine had told him.

He also knew now that the Negaverse people that Camelot had mentioned apparently had weapons - some of which (like the spear) sounded pretty dangerous - but that the Dark Mirror people didn't - which was probably another way to tell the two groups apart, although Falias wasn't sure he was minded to wait and see if a weapon was pulled or not. He also wasn't sure what Aventine meant by them hurting just as much, but maybe that was something for another night - he'd been left with quite a bit to think on as it was.

Aventine seemed a bit relieved that he wasn't criticizing her information; she wasn't used to being the one giving it, but it felt like someone had lifted a huge weight off of her chest. "Well, I'm glad to hear that!" …Just as long as it was all the right information.

She kept hastily replaying everything she had said in her mind to figure out if she needed to correct herself before they departed. "I mean, there's probably a lot that I missed telling you, but I guess…I mean, it's hard to figure out what sort of things you need to know until the second you need to know them, you know? Or, well. I mean, you will. I've kind of picked up a lot just by poking around, talking to people. Have you met any senshi yet? Wait, no, you said just Camelot and me. Oi, I swear I listened!" she laughed. "All I'm saying is that, give senshi a chance! A lot of them have been around for a while, and I've met some that were really helpful. They know a lot of things, sometimes even more than knights do. So don't be afraid to talk to them if one pops up! —Oh, just as long as they aren't the corrupted or the Dark Mirror Senshi. They aren't quite as friendly."

So senshi could be good as well as bad it seemed if he was to go on what Aventine was saying.

Although she had also mentioned something called a corrupted. Falias wondered privately if the corrupted was another group that he was supposed to watch out for in addition to the Neaverse and the aforementioned Dark Mirror people. It seemed like quite a lot of people to watch out for and a bit confusing too since two of the mentioned groups seemed to be senshi, although she had also said that senshi could be helpful too.

"Is there anyway to tell the friendly senshi from the Dark Mirror and Corrupted?" He asked. Maybe these corrupted wore black too. Falias wouldn't be particularly surprised if that was the case given the fact the other two groups seemed to.
