~ Festival O P E N E D ~ It was just a few minutes after six when the festival's last decorations had been hung up, leaving the town square empty aside from a few of the early attendees to that year's Goddess Festival. Blue and purple streamers stretched from lamppost to lamppost, sectioning the square off and alerting to those passing by to the festivities to take place. That is, if the posters and fliers that had been passed around the commercial part of town for the last few days wasn't enough of an indication that the Goddess Festival was to be underway. Music played from the speakers hanging on every other lamppost, mostly instrumentals of the various generic pop music the mayor happened to enjoy that year – not that she was there to appreciate it. Not yet, anyway. The festival had been somewhat of a sore spot for the girl as, due to some weird rules enacted during her father's time, the mayor simply wasn't allowed to participate in the glorified popularity contest featured at the festival.
As such, it was a habit of hers not to make an appearance until the very last minute, leaving only the librarian to boredly stand beside the buffet table and watch the last servant leave to probably go home and take a well deserved rest. Ed wasn't surprised he was among the first to show up, though he was still a little surprised at himself for bothering to make an appearance. He supposed it was that malnourished whimsical side of him that finally managed to make him cave in to a random excursion – or he could have just been passing by and saw the free food. He nibbled hesitantly at a miniature quiche, unsure if that was tuna he was seeing or spinach.
((I'll send more people in a little bit, but everyone feel free to send in their people and nominees! ouo

Christine arrived the festival feeling pretty good. It was her first time attending one of the festivals but she was a little disappointed, upon her arrival, at the rather paltry turn out. She hoped more people showed up later considering how much time she'd put into getting ready. She'd even chosen something appropriately revealing--a tiny scrap of black cloth with a micro skirt and neckline that plunged to her naval. She was hoping at least someone worth her time would show up but the only person in sight was some angry, bookish looking bloke hovering near the food. Interesting, yes. Attractive, sure. But she wasn't quite that desperate yet, when she knew there were more attractive men on the island. At any rate, she knew she wouldn't last long in her heels (God, they still killed her back--but they made her legs look amazing) so she located a park bench and sat down delicately crossing her legs and wondering how long she should wait for someone more interesting than Mr. I'm Just Here For the Food to appear. *** Trev had been so busy getting the Vet clinic up and running that he really hadn't had time more much socializing. There was always Maggie but one could only consider hanging out with a ropey drool-machine socializing for so long, before it just became a bit sad. So when another festival cropped up, Trevyn brushed off his black and white formals, spent the day making himself look and smell splendid, before tying his hair back and making his way over to the town square. There weren't many people around when he arrived--just one other man, and a platinum blonde who looked like she had left half her dress at home. Not that he was complaining in the slightest. He might go over and say hello later on--not yet, though. He didn't want to come on too strong. Besides, only and amateur picked the first flower he saw without getting to see the other available options. Not that there were any just now. But okay. Besides, he wasn't here just to pick up women. It was a small island and there had to be someone worth getting to know besides the ones with cleavage. But so far there was only the one *** Angela had finally let her father badger her out of the house again, half on the pretense of going to "meet a nice fellow" and half because he really wanted her to keep an eye on her aunt. Because Eoin had looked very, very worried when Christine walked out of the house in part of a dress, and the promise she would be home late--very late. If at all. So Angela was there in a copper and blue gown her father had picked out (which really showed off a surprising amount of shoulder and collar bone and cleavage--what, she did have some--for something he'd picked out. Not to mention the ruffled side split that showed flashes of leg when she walked. Then again, it still managed to cover everything and look rather, well, pretty. She couldn't deny her idiot father had good taste. And compared to what Christine was wearing, Angela looked like a bloody nun. She arrived at the square only a few minutes after Christine, surveying the area for people she knew--of which there where none at the moment. There was a tall, dark haired man nibbling an appetizer by the buffet tables and Angela felt a slight pull to go over and say hello because tall, dark and handsome was definitely her thing. But she was sort of hesitant to just walk up and say hello because that wasn't her thing. And just as she was trying to make up her mind how to strike up a conversation, a familiar weirdo showed up and bounced right over to him. And that decided that. She was going to loiter around and play the village wallflower. Again. Ew. *** Javor was intrigued by this island's propensity to silly festivals--and its decided lack of mysterious deaths, something he often had the urge to rectify just to stir things up a bit. But he managed to always stay on just the right side of self control, even when he had no one to lament to about it other than the skull in the flower pot on his back porch. He had a decided lack of friendly acquaintances or people who would come over and enjoy tea with him. And cats. He had a decided lack of cats. It was truly distressing at times. And so when he arrived, he made a beeline for the first person who did not look vapid, whoreish, or like they wanted to tear his head off and throw it in the ocean. That was Ed. Javor approached the dark haired man, studying him curiously as he nibbled a bit of food from the table. He really did want to make a friend this time around--one that wouldn't die horribly when a hobo threw it in the fire and tried to eat it. So he would definitely mind his manners. "Hello," he said, surveying the food laid out. "It is...a lovely day, is it not?" ((Nominees: Trevor and Tshila emotion_donotwant ))

Todd had decided long ago that this Goddess Festival was going to be great. He was entirely set on looking his best. He was sure to find happiness if he looked his finest. Unfortunately, he could not stand the restraints of a suit jacket, so he had to settle for a tasteful vest. He found soon after trying it on that he couldn't really stand the way the dress shirt felt either, so the rolled up sleeves look would have to work. Maybe he'd just have to settle for another ruined night. His comfort was most important, wasn't it? How could he be charming if he felt all sweaty and gross? This was basically the only real option. He let out a sigh of relief at the fact that the day was finally here. He had grown tired of this stupid thing consuming him. He probably wasn't going to even have a good time. Maybe he would. Yeah, he would. No he wouldn't. Ah s**t, there it was again. He dressed quickly and fought with the decision of what to do with his hair. That had been a bit of a blow to his ego, staring at himself wondering if he should wear it up or down. This all felt very feminine and stupid, so he just tied it back and started out the door. The walk there was rather eventful, there was a squirrel running across the street, and he had kicked a rock for awhile. The town square was no more exciting. It seemed that he was one of the first people. He must have gotten too excited, as usual. The refreshments looked like a good place to go. A drink always made for a good way to look casual.
After pouring himself a drink, he turned to get a better look of the people that had arrived before him. The pickings were slim, and he caught himself feeling excited when he spotted some familiar white hair walking around, but it wasn't her. They had to be related though, they looked so similar. He turned his gaze away to the next person, now finding himself getting his hopes up. When there she was... like a perfect dove perched on a post. He finished his drink with a few quick gulps before taking a deep breath. He was going to approach Christine and hope that he could hit a nice romantic chord. They had seen each other quite frequently since her arrival and it felt like a wonderful time to attempt to take their relationship to the next step. Was that unprofessional? Oh, screw it all. That dress was too damn sexy for him to not go acknowledge her. He placed his hands in his pockets and walked over to the park bench. "You look very lovely this evening, Christine."

If there was one thing Morgan liked more than reading, it was looking nice. However, he hated going out in public, so this night had a lot of mixed feelings for him. He knew that it was good to go to festivals and try to meet people, but something just felt so silly about gathering together to listen to music and have refreshments. He could have music and refreshments at his house with the comfort of peace and quiet. There wouldn't be anyone there to bother him. Just the soft sounds of music and his pets surrounding him. He could even get some work done. Wouldn't that be better than this? He walked into the area and felt quite nervous. There weren't many people yet, which helped his anxiety some, but the fact that any were here at all was hard. He spotted Ed rather quickly, but he had seen his face a lot over the years. There were also some either people he didn't know. All of which he didn't really want to know. He could go talk to Ed, but that would mean talking to the person over there that was not Ed. That was not something he felt like doing. The only real option here was to go find an empty bench and take a seat.

Xeiro was pleased to be out at another festival, especially since he had his lovely... Tshila with him. He was also happy about the change in weather, because it meant that he could be shirtless right now! How was he ever going to pass that opportunity? It was important to spend a lot of time shirtless. It was good for the soul. Not to mention the importance of letting Tshila know how good she had it. She was ...being seen with... him. All the height, the muscles, the tan, the hair, the looks, he was just the total package! If only he could date himself. No wait. That was kind of gay. If only he were a woman and could date himself. No wait. Then he wouldn't be the good looking one. He'd lose all of the leverage! Obviously, things were perfect just the way they were. Here with Tshila. He turned his head down to look at his date and smiled. "I'm glad we decided to do this." The square was very nicely decorated and it looked like it was going to be a fun evening. Though that was to be expected. Anywhere Xeiro and Tshila went, the fun was sure to follow. He even spotted Javor up ahead. He was always a nice guy. Maybe they could talk later. Ah, yes. This was sure to be a great time. "Would you like a drink?" That was always something guys asked at dances, right?

Riley was mainly here to see scantily clad women. It did not seem like this festival was going to be a disappointment as he noticed a few upon his arrival. He fixed his hat and continued walking with his cane held in his hand. He had tried walking with it, but it became a little awkward and he wound up looking like an old man. So, it was probably best to just carry it and not look ridiculous. He thought about walking up to one of the people he saw, but he quickly spotted his brother talking to the best dressed person here. He had to sit back and watch this blow up in his face. He made a quick stop to grab a drink before settling in leaning against a tree. From here, he could get a good shot at his dork of a brother and still be visible to whatever bitches wanted to come talk to his fine a**. He knew he looked damn fine and was sure someone would be jumping his bones before too long.

Raven dressed in her dancing clothes, a long flowing and navy skirt with a fitted low v-neck tee in plain white. Wasn't flashy, but was definitely comfortable enough for the whole night and celebrating the Harvest Goddess Festival with new faces. She had yet to met anyone since arriving to town, so she was hopeful in talking with others and finding potential friends. Walking to the square from the Inn, she didn't bring anything with her and had hoped that there wasn't going to be special sales on anything she'd might want, resulting in her regretting to leave her purse bag at home.
While walking there, she noticed that the town square had yet to fill with the rest of the residences. Feeling a little nervous going there alone and early, especially since she didn't know anyone, Raven decided to dawdle a little and slowed her walking pace. On the way there, she kept her eyes open to the other townies and took in the shaded and darkening streets of Nirvani Island's town center. It was quite attractive and small~ she liked the simple decor and quaintness.

There may have been a rule preventing the mayor from participating in the Goddess Festival contest, but that didn't mean that the mayor's family couldn't play. January Sonata loved this festival. The dancing wasn't quite her style, and she would rather eat her own hands than touch some commoner for a spin around the dance floor. But she DID appreciate the existence of a popularity contest, especially one that gave her an obvious and unavoidable advantage over Lilia.
This time the youngest Sonata had left the palanquin at home and hoofed it all the way to the festival. It couldn't be helped; if she had squeezed into that box, her dress would have been squashed. Of course, she wasn't wearing the most walking-friendly shoes, so immediately upon arriving at the square, January kicked off her shoes and commanded a servant to massage her feet while she surveyed the competition.
In honor of spring, January had worn an elaborate gown with voluminous sleeves and a dozen layers of overlapping ruffles. It was pink and white, like the blossoms on the tree branches that she sometimes had her servants cut from the trees and bring to her room so she wouldn't have to go outside, and completely decked out in frills and ribbon and bows. She wore a crown of blossoms in her hair, and had stuffed a couple of pairs of socks into her bra and gone through almost a roll of tape. January Sonata didn't have a lot of achievements under her belt, outside of being filthy rich and never needing braces, so she was determined to let all of the voters know that a winner was among them.

Like with a lot of festivals, Peter had spent a number of spring evenings in this square growing up, and while he definitely had a nostalgic fondness for the Goddess Festival, he didn't have a lot of personal reasons to come every year. Usually he just showed up when Wilhelm wanted to come, but rarely because he himself was anxious to go. But Year 26 had been a quiet one, and his twenty-fifth birthday had passed without much to report. When was the last time he had come out to spend time with the town? He couldn't remember, and that awful stomach bug he had just recovered from certainly hadn't helped anything. He had been living on the island for his entire life, but Peter had remarkably few friends as an adult. That was a good resolution, try to get out there more! Oh hey, look, he was already making some progress! With a smile at his own dumb thoughts, Peter entered the town square and looked around for a familiar face. Well, most of the faces were familiar to some degree, but you get what I mean...
春春春
For maybe the first time in her life (or at least recently) Elliot was at a festival by herself. Not that she had intended on being there by herself! Originally it was supposed to be an outing with her sister, but she had waited right outside of the square for a while already, and there was no sign of River. Elliot wasn't going to let it bother her, though; sometimes her older sister showed up, sometimes she didn't, all she could do was wait. ...Still, she was a little at a loss without her sister there to act as a buffer, and she shuffled silently into the square with a bit of hesitation. There wasn't anyone she knew there yet, and she was bad at meeting new people and talking with strangers, and -- ahh, no. There was a face she recognized in the sparse crowd. It had been such a long time, and their meeting had been brief at best, but... Oh, what was his name again? Elliot allowed herself one frown as she tried to remember... Right! Riley! Now that she had remembered the man's name, he was practically as good as River (well, maybe not River. Maybe Zhi) and she walked over, silent and tiny as ever.
"...Hello, Riley," Elliot greeted him in a soft voice as she emerged from behind the tree against which he was leaning -- why had she chosen to come from behind the tree? It just felt right. She looked him over once, taking in his outfit with as flat an expression as ever. "Long time... no see... You are sparkling," she observed. "Are you putting on a show...?" she questioned without a trace of sarcasm or humor.
春春春
Goddess Festival! Goddess Festival! Festival! Of Goddesses! Winter had not been the kindest season to Garland, and he had spent most of it curled up in his room while he stared at his broken space heater, but he was back with a vengeance! What better way to raise his spirits than a big party that pretty much was based entirely around hot chicks? It was more his style to arrive fashionably late to the festivities, but he had been too excited to wait around anymore, so here he was, right on time. He wasn't dressed up as some other guys (who was the shirtless guy with the bow tie? Because that was genius) but he didn't let that bother him. His level of charisma couldn't be dampened by a pair of blue jeans! Upon arriving at the square, Garland wasted no time in beginning his loop, strolling around the square with what he would have classified as a "swagger" or a "strut" but what most other people would have classified as "strange". Unfortunately for him, there weren't a lot of chicks around! Man, for the Goddess festival, there sure were a lot of dudes. But he didn't let that get him down. "Angela," he nodded as he passed, hoping she didn't see the way he fumbled over his own feet when he did so. "Ladies," he greeted Raven with a nod and a wink, ignoring the fact that there was only one of her. And on he continued around the square.
春春春
Once upon a time, Will had harbored dreams of the idyllic island life, the rolling waves, the wide fields, the fresh air, the charming traditions, the friendly townsfolk. Once upon a time, he had dreamed of going out and experiencing these things as a family, with his family, a family of four people in a family. You know, wife and two offspring. And he had been so determined to make this dream a reality! But here he was, standing at the edge of the square without his wife and carrying just one child. Nat hadn't wanted to come. She had tried it once as a young adult and didn't like it, so that was that. Juliette had originally wanted to come, but when it was time to leave she decided that it was much too late and she should just quietly play in her room until bed. That was how Will, husband and father of two, had shuffled to the festival with just his four year old in tow.
Scarlette sat in his arms, one chubby little arm curled around his neck. She blinked her eyes lazily as if about to dose off -- though she would be quick to wake up if he ever tried to put her on the ground. With his free hand, Will pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose and looked around rather uselessly. Without Natalia there to tell him what to do and how to do it, he was at a pretty big loss. For now it looked like he would just linger off to the side like a lot of the other festival attendees.

Tshila was so very amused by Xeiro's outfit. That was, basically, why she liked him. He was unpredictable, confident, and completely hilarious. And, you know, totally hot. "I'm totally glad too," she assured him. "It's going to be fun." She glanced toward the refreshment tables, noting a few persons of interest in the vicinity, but not really. "Oh, sure. That'd be great!"she told him, practically bouncing excitedly in her very, very tight red dress. She found that it hit just the right notes between gaudy and elegant, and she was so, totally, in love with it! She kind of wanted to wear it all the time. Except at work. That would be sooooo awkward. Not to mention dangerous--trying to do a silk or hoop routine up in the air, in a tight dress just really wouldn't end well for anyone. Besides, contorting herself to the point she could look up her own dress would just be a little on the weird side. Even for her. But it was completely awesome to see everyone else all dressed up. There were some really awesome dresses! And all the men looked totally fabulous all dressed up. Of course, Xeiro looked best but that was mostly because his version of dressing up involved leaving off critical parts of his attire--like a shirt. She would totally never get tired of seeing him in a shirt. "Sooooo," she said, smirking up at him. "I don't think I asked before hand but--do you dance?" *** Angela almost didn't see Garland as he sort of sauntered past. Well, she supposed that was a saunter. It was kind of hard to say--it looked like one something from the Ministry of Silly Walks, really. She almost smiled at him, but then remembered his apparent lack of interest in treating her to dinner (which had never actually happened, despite ample opportunities) and generally seeming entirely uninterested in, well, even attempting to get to know her for friendship or anything else. That made her significantly less inclined to be polite so she simply raised an an eyebrow at him as the only form of acknowledgement she intended to allow. She did, however, offer a friendly smile to an unfamiliar girl ( Raven) that Garland had addressed, weirdly, as 'ladies'--then again, Garland was just weird. (Still adorable in his own doofy way, but she was mad at him just now so she was not going to let on, at all, that she still found him weirdly adorkable). Instead, she waved slightly at the woman and wondered if she should go say hello to her, or perhaps go...ugh. Who was she kidding. Aside from a few dorky blondes, the male pickings were incredibly, incredibly slim. The best looking male at the place was already hitting on her aunt (ugh). Maybe she should just loiter by the refreshments in case the short red-haired weirdo tried to assault the poor brunette. Yup. That sounded like a great plan, so she edged that way. *** Christine's night could not have been going any better at all. The exact person she was secretly hoping to see had just shown up. A slow smile spread over her face as she looked up at Todd. "Well, 'lovely' was not exactly what I'd been going for but thank you for the compliment." Her eyes roved up and down his body and her smile widened slightly. "You look great--same as always." Looking up at him was a bit awkward so she stood, taking the time to slowly straighten her dress before looking up at him. "I was hoping someone interesting would show up," she told him, looking around the place. "I was starting to get worried when I saw such a small crowd." Ugh. There was Angela--just walking around looking like some bizarre, G-rated version of herself. Christine had to restrain the urge to go dump punch on her just to make her go home. "So how do these festivals usually go. This is my first time so I'm not entirely sure what to expect. Should I ask you to be gentle?" she teased, the smile still playing over her lips. *** Trevor was pleased when more people showed up--there was one lady, in particular, that he noticed right away. She was a bit dressed down compared to some of the other beauties and that instantly caught his attention. Shy perhaps? Regardless, she was cute. That meant he had to take it slow and not scare her off by coming on too strong. So, while keeping an eye on her (particularly when some gangly young guy sort of meandered past her), he went to find an empty spot on a park bench. There was another man sitting there and Trevor gave Morgan a friendly smile as he sat next to him (but not too close--that would just be weird.) "Hey there--great night for a dance isn't it?" he said, stretching his legs out. "Been a long time since I went to an event like this. Looks like a lot of fun, yeah? Oh hey, I'm Trevor, by the way. Work at the vet clinic--don't think I've seen you around any."** Sethrian was not much for suits and tuxedos and though he wasn't sure exactly what the attire requirements were for the Goddess Festival, he made his best judgement call and went slightly more casual than he thought was required. Because if anyone didn't like it, they could go take a dive in the ocean. He really didn't give a damn. He just really wanted to start getting out more because dammit, it was normal and not at all pathetic to want some kind of semblance of a social life. Especially now that the idiot blonde had somehow found him (how the hell did he even do that??) and declared how they were super-best friends. Not to mention how he'd spent a week badgering Seth into promising he'd attend the festival. So with that sort of motivation, Sethrian arrived at the town square to find a fairly small crowd of people in attire that was really varying of shades of tacky, all gathered together. Sethrian noted the refreshments table and wondered if he should hazard a trip over or just assume the food was horrid. For the time being, he loitered on the edges of the crowd, trying to find someone (other than Trevor) he could go say hello to. There was Xeiro but...ugh. Seth liked his boss, but he decided he would just pretend, for the night, that they didn't know each other. *** Chloe was really excited for another event. It was always nice to have these festivals to spice things up right when she got hung up on the every day routine of living on such a small island. Though her new roommate brought a lot of exuberance to her life, she thought it was always lovely to get to know other people as well. So she was really pleased when she arrived at the square to find many unfamiliar faces. Though everyone was familiar to a degree, owing the smallness of the island itself, it was nice to see people she didn't immediately recall the names for. Not wanting to approach any of the small groups already forming, Chloe decided to say hello to a young man who appeared to be alone. Even if he looked to be a few years younger than she was, there was no reason they couldn't have a friendly conversation together, was there? So, taking the direct approach, Chloe walked to Peter and smiled. "Hello. I don't believe we've met. I'm Chloe. It's a lovely evening, isn't it?"
*** Gray could absolutely not show up to the festival dressed in some bland, black tuxedo. So he found his most dapper frock and spent the afternoon polishing his boots, selecting an eyepatch and generally getting ready. When he arrived with his tophat and cane, he could instantly see that he was, without a doubt, the best dressed person in attendance. Sadly, that was mostly because there just weren't a lot of people around. Still, there were enough that, with the slightest encouragement, it could become quite the party. So the very first thing he did was begin to make his rounds to politely smile at and greet all the more interesting and/or gullible looking people. He paused next to a young lady in a particularly garish dress ( January) and smiled. "My dear, that is a very, very lovely gown. It suits you most becomingly."** ((The image thing is brilliant, Synny. *steals it* >O ))

Todd couldn't resist a goofy grin as Christine complimented him. She looked as good as she did, and she was taking time to notice how he was dressed? Well, it was probably just out of respect for what he said, but he was going to take any win that he could possible get. His eyes traveled to places they probably shouldn't have when she stood up, but she had to know that would happen with something like that on, right? He allowed himself to believe that there was no harm in taking a chance at a better look, but quickly drew his eyes back to hers when she spoke. He scratched at his face with a smile, "How nice of you to say that I am interesting. You're very full of compliments tonight." Why did he acknowledge that? She'd probably stop now. Dammit, why did he always have to say stupid things? No wonder he was all alone. He looked around casually at the mention of the small crowd. There were a few more people than when he had arrived, but nothing too exciting. "I was a bit disappointed in the crowd today, too." He said as he turned his attention back to her... face. Oh goddess, please stay focused on her face.
The time that he had known Christine seemed to be a lot longer than it really was, causing him to be a little confused when she mentioned she had never been before. "Oh! Well, it's not much different from what you'd expect a prom to be like, I suppose. People dress up and have conversation, there's some crappy music, crappy refreshments, and dancing." He laughed, perhaps a little too nervously. The thought of being gentle with her gave him goosebumps, and he sadly couldn't conceal it as best as he thought. "Aren't I always gentle with you?" Smooth, Todd. Smooth. Make reference to the rubbing you do on her in a professional sense. You aren't creepy as ******** class="postcontent-align-center" style="text-align: center">_____________________________________________ Morgan was relieved exponentially when the man that appeared near him sat on the complete other edge of the bench. Just for good measure, he slid across slightly to put himself right on the edge. He nodded his head rather curtly at the man and continued to look across at other people. He saw a few engaging in conversation and contemplated why it could not be him doing the same. He heard a voice almost immediately after, a voice that he was sure was not for him. As soon as he heard a name, he knew that this was meant for him. Only complete strangers had to tell their name and profession. This was bad. This was very bad. He did not know this guy from--- wait. Wait. He did know this man. That voice had sounded vaguely familiar, although the face did not. It made so much sense. The vet. That was slightly relieving. Anyone that would dedicate so much of their life to helping animals was someone that he felt remotely comfortable around. However, feeling comfortable around someone and feeling comfortable talking to someone were completely different things. At first, he simply nodded his head, but the words of his mother began to come back to him. He needed to make friends. He needed to talk to people. He was such a nice young boy. Anyone would like him. He took a deep breath and waited a few ticks to be sure that the man was fully done speaking. It would be rude to interrupt him, and he didn't want to have to waste any more time talking for a second time. "I suppose that it is. There is not a cloud in sight and the temperature is just right for a gathering such as this. I also agree that this event has the potential for being fun for those that enjoy such a thing. My name is Morgan. We have talked on the phone several times. I am the man who asks you to place anything I require for my pets in the shrub placed in your lobby due to my anxiety issues. Due to this, no. You have not seen me around, nor have I seen you."_____________________________________________ Xeiro couldn't resist continuously smiling at Tshila. It was a nice gesture that allowed for him to get a look at that rocking body. That dress only made him want to look more. He nodded at her agreement for drinks and started walking in that direction. He was the man in this... silent agreement they had between each other... and he was going to be sure that he made it to the drinks before her and was able to pour her drink. Something as hard as pouring a perfect amount of drink could not befall a princess such as her. He quickly poured said drink, with such expertise that ******** he spilled some on the table. Oh well, that didn't happen. Not his problem. He grabbed a napkin to act all gentlemanly, but was really just trying to hide the punch dripping down the side of the cup. "Here you are, milady." He turned his head down to her at the sound of his second favorite d-word. He let out a scoff, how could she even question his abilities? "Do I dance? Do I dance? Why don't you tell me, baby." He winked at her and walked out into a space better prepared for what was to come. Ah, yeah. Time to show the money. He placed his hands behind his head and began to do the best damn rendition of the sprinkler that the world had ever seen. _____________________________________________ Riley was twirling his cane in front of him and enjoying the new view that was bestowed upon him by the goddess herself as that white-haired beauty stood up. He felt a lot luckier than his brother ever could since he actually had to look at her face, maybe this voyeur stuff wasn't so bad after all. It had always seemed like a lot of work, but now it was just a stroll through the park. He was thinking of all of the things he would do to that body when something startled him. Normally he was welcome to things catching him by surprise from behind, but he had been busy doing real work up here. He turned his head to look at the only person that had ever had that soothing of a voice, but he couldn't seem to see her. That was odd. He was sure that she had been talking directly behind him. A few seconds passed, most of which he spent thinking that he must just be fantasizing about the adorable little cow. Then he heard it again. There was no way that a whole conversation was coming from this fantasy. If there were, it would not be about a show. It would be about milk. Lots and lots of milk and maybe she'd be crying. Did Elliot even cry? Was that possible? He turned his body this time to better be able to see where she could be hiding. He turned to check behind the tree when he felt something. His gaze quickly fell to see what he had bumped into when he found Elliot. Oh, that's right. She was practically a midget. He took a quick step back and smiled down at her. "Why hello, Elliot. It has been quite a long time since that fateful day on the mountain, hasn't it? Miss me?" He tipped his hat at her and shifted his cane so he could lean on it in a perfect cool guy stance. "Maybe I am putting on a show." He said and raised his visible eyebrow suggestively at her. _____________________________________________ Zelynity was not sure that the Goddess Festival was the best place to be right now, but it was a public place. Having people around meant that Jacob would not be capable of pulling any of that weird killer stuff that he claimed didn't exist. She rolled her eyes just at the thought. There didn't seem to be that many people, but maybe that would be good for any occasion where something did get out of hand. Too many people might be talking too loudly to hear her desperate screams while she was being carried away under Jacob's robes. Okay, so she definitely could not fit under Jacob's robes, but that probably wouldn't stop him from trying. He wasn't exactly the best at this murderous rampage he was going on. He had been at it for how many years? He hadn't even harmed her in any way yet, except for emotionally. Zelynity's hand shifted through her hair for about the twentieth time on the walk over. She found herself feeling happy about seeing Jacob, but couldn't quite place a finger on why. Maybe she was having a premonition of finally being able to prove what he really was. Maybe she really just wanted to believe that all of this had been a nightmare. She walked, as confidently as possible, across the square and stopped at the refreshments table. She grabbed a cookie and started to nibble on it before looking towards the entrance. Would it be weird for her to just hide out and see what he did if she didn't show? Maybe that was too cruel. They had had some sort of a spark before. It was possible that that was still hiding somewhere under this all. It might be possible that he was telling the truth. Oh, all of this thinking was doing her no good. She would just have to wait and hear what he had to say. She felt like she owed him that after everything. Those other few dates they had made time for had been pretty nice. He did seem to still be trying to regain her trust. She found herself smiling as she took another bite of her cookie.

January had just stepped back into her shoes and waved the servants away when someone approached her. At first she flinched, regretting sending away the servants so soon when she could have used them to build a human barricade to protect herself from the riffraff. But alas, she was all alone, small and vulnerable. ...Well, you know, as small as a 5'9" girl in three inch heels could be. Her shoulders tensed as she looked at Gray apprehensively, glancing him over and appraising his worth. He was tall, that was true, but he also had long hair, which was the mark of a man too poor to have a personal barber. And only hoodlums and mobsters had eyepatches. She pursed her lips apprehensively, he was obviously a homeless man who had wandered onto the square to accost his next victims. But then... she couldn't help but notice that he was impeccably dressed. Sure, the fabrics were only a fraction of the quality of her own garment, but... Despite the mediocrity of the cloth, she could not deny the FASHION. This was very confusing for young January, who usually considered style and poverty to be mutually exclusive, and never before had she been so repulsed and attracted at the same time.
"...Yes..." she finally said, her voice slowed from hesitation. "I know... That is why I'm wearing it..." She wouldn't return the compliment, but considering she hadn't demanded he leave her presence, she might as well have expressed her admiration of his clothing.
春春春
It didn't take very long for someone to come up to Peter, which startled him so much he did a double-take and then looked behind him to make sure that there wasn't someone standing behind him. Finally, he turned back to Chloe, his eyes not quite saucers, but getting there. "Sorry... Chloe...? Are you talking to me?" he asked rather uselessly. "That's a dumb question, sorry, I'm just not used to people coming up to talk to me." Usually when he went out, he relied on Wilhelm to swoop down on unsuspecting passersby and initiate the conversation. When he was on his own, he usually just stood off to the side and no one noticed him. "Sorry, you just startled me. I'm Peter. Nice to meet you." Remembering that she had mentioned the state of the evening, he glanced up towards the sky. It wasn't quite dark enough to see the stars, but it would be soon. "It's a nice night for stargazing," he commented. "Though you don't look like you have a telescope on you," he added pleasantly.
春春春
Oh good, he had recognized her. It would have been awkward if he hadn't. Not that Elliot was particularly attuned to awkward situations; she usually failed to feel any sense of awkwardness and took her companions at their word that it had been uncomfortable. He didn't chase her away, or bristle, or use a loud voice to scare her away, which was also good. "Long time," she agreed with a nod, though exactly long, she wasn't sure. She would have to count. "You look different from then," she added, which was true. He hadn't been wearing any sequins on that mountain, as far as she could remember. "What kind of show?" she continued with a small tilt of her head. She was imagining something like Finnian's act, but it probably couldn't involve anything involving hand-eye coordination because Riley only had one good eye. Or so she thought. He could have two, and the eye patch was just his way of expressing himself. "Can you juggle? Or ride a motorcycle?" she continued to question, listing off whatever came to mind. "Do you tell jokes?" She didn't really understand most stand-up routines, but other people seemed to like them. "Are you performing tonight? That's nice... Break a leg..."

It was almost adorable how nervous Todd seemed to be. Or at least that was the impression Christine got. He seemed to be trying so hard to keep his eyes on her face as well--either that, or he just wasn't impressed with what he saw. But since she did catch his eyes straying a few times, she suspected it was the former and not the latter. "You are always very gentle," she assured him, leaning slightly closer. "But just so you know, I didn't pick this dress so you'd spend the evening looking at my face." She gave him a teasing smile as she leaned back. It would have been so much more amusing to whisper that in his ear but unfortnately...he was just too damn tall. Even with these heels. "At least 'crappy' music and refreshments can be immediately improved by good company," she said, looking around. She noticed someone who was immediately familiar from her trips to the gym and was about to point him out to Todd when he started...'dancing' (if one could call it that). Christine raised an eyebrow, feeling any residual attraction she might have had for Xeiro sort of shrivel and die horribly. She shook her head slightly. "I'm assuming the people of Nirvani do not have much experience with decent parties..." ** "Oh! Right!" Trevor said. "I was thinking your voice sounded familiar. I suppose that explains why..." So it was due to anxiety that the guy made him leave supplies in the bushes. That made sense but he still somewhat worried for the man's animals. After all, their health was more important than anxiety, surely. "Well, hopefully now that we've met, you'll bring your pets by sometime for check ups--though I'm sure you take great care of them. But you know, especially for your cat, there are quite a lot of illnesses that she could contract even if you keep her sheltered and taken care of at home. It'd be nice to give her a look over once a year." He paused, not wanting to be that guy who talked about work, but also not wanting to terrify Morgan since he already looked ready to bolt. "Uh...you can just drop them off and leave if you like..." ** Tshila was not really expecting that when Xeiro assured her that he knew how to dance. She wasn't entirely sure that was called 'dancing'--it was completely hilarious (and adorable though). she really, really, really did not want to wound his male pride, especially since she knew he had a lot of it. But it took every ounce of strength not to completely burst out laughing. That was just so hilarious and terrible and amazing and dorky and completely brilliant all at once. She felt positively ready to burst with trying to hold in her reaction, but managed to quietly chuckle behind her hand before sidling up alongside Xeiro. "You are...brillant," she said, still laughing slightly. "Completely brilliant." She kissed his cheek and pulled away, giving him a slight grin. "I have to confess though--I definitely do not know that dance." ** "Well, please allow me to compliment you on your impeccable taste," Gray said with a bow, completely meaning it. Almost. At any rate, she either had to be insane or filthy rich to have the confidence to dress like that. And she didn't seem insane--so he was assuming she was rich. It never once hurt to butter up (or potentially flirt with) a rich girl. "Might I have the pleasure of learning the name of such a ravishing young woman?" He was resisting the natural instinct to take her hand and kiss it, if only because she looked like the sort who would slap him and storm away if he crossed any lines at all. He wondered how many rich families aside from the Sonatas actually even lived on the island. Did that mean she was a Sonata? He'd never really had any encounters but he'd heard rumors. He could run, of course, and not look back. But...money. Money was good and if she had a lot of it, that was even better. Maybe he could get on her good side and get a donation. Or a 'donation'--whichever worked. ** Chloe smiled pleasantly as Peter took the time to determine if she was speaking to him, then reply to her. What a sweet young man. "Really?" she asked, still smiling. "That seems rather difficult to beleive. You seem like quite a nice person--I could tell simply by looking at you. I can't see why people wouldn't talk to you. It's a pity if they really don't. I can already tell that you're an immensely kind person. What a pity so many have apparently missed out on it." She glanced up when he mentioned stargazing. It was quite clear, wasn't it. "Yes," she agreed. "There do seem to be a great many of those here on Nirvani. But sadly, no, I didn't bring my telescope with me. I do have a lovely antique on at my house though I'll admit I haven't managed to really make use of it since moving here. I really ought to remedy that when I have access to such a brilliantly lit night sky so much of the year." "It's a travesty not to take advantage of it, don't you think?"

 - Rune LeBlanc, Julian Fate, Miah Bernadetto, & Stella Hammett- It was absolutely disappointing to think that she hadn't been out for so long. Rune would continue scolding herself slightly for that. Having some of her closest friends gone NPC and then leaving the island should've been an excuse to propel her into affairs and such. Not dedicating her time to the clinic. With Mao. There was the odd man but... he didn't yell at her. Not that she was intimidated but still. Oh this was not a time to be thinking of that. The woman shook her head as she stood in the square. She was a little nervous to be here by herself to be honest. Which was probably why she was so easily distracted by whatever was going on. Julian and Miah made their little entrance to the event, one pushing back her long blond curls behind, the other scanning the area. They weren't aiming to keep each other company all night. No, they were there to save each other should something go horribly tacky and unfortunate. Which is why Miah left the male's side to roam on her own. "Ciao Bella." "Ciao Bella." They departed soon enough, with Julian slowly moving around. He continued to scan the area. There was a decent flow of people tonight. He might be sociable and all, Goddess knows he had been too workaholic for anyone's taste. Except probably Romane's. That never counted anyways. Julian decided to head towards the refreshment table, as it would always be his starting point and this time though... it seemed like a decent one. He adjusted the silly tie right before arriving at the table and started to prepare a drink when his gaze stumbled upon a white haired woman nearby [Angela]. The male gave her a slight smile at first. He was momentairly distracted by the so called dancing of Xeiro, to which he maintained a confused look. "That's... That doesn't look good." he said with a slight chuckle at the end. "Or is it just me?"Miah continued a slight stroll, caring for half a second to look at the usual decorations that inspired such insipid conversations. There was a quick flash running around the place and it simply made her roll her eyes at the recognition. The man had attempted to make a pass at her some time ago... and he was still around? Ew. As she continued to look around, she didn't seem to see anything that would motivate her to initiate a conversation. Too much... activation of energy one might say. However, she did have one thing going for her. She was after all, a gorgeous blonde moving alone in a dance to sit down. Someone should notice that. Stella on the other hand had seen all of these faces. It didn't mean she knew them. Well she knew their names but she didn't know THEM. That was probably the point of the whole thing. And dancing. She could dance. But she usually did that by herself. Oh well, this time she had put more effort into it but who could she approach? Now that was a good question. Maybe the one? Oh no that one's busy. Oh she couldn't decide. So she continued to look around until one of them caught her eye. Or until she bumped into something. Or someone. It turned out there was no reason to be suspicious of the quiche as they were actually pretty delicious and Ed wouldn't mind it even if there was tuna in there. Not that he would say that aloud, but it didn't seem like anyone would be interested in talking with him. After all, with one quick glance at those arriving, he realized just how under dressed he actually was. He guessed he had gotten sloppy with his appearance after Quentin disappeared to do who knows what and there hadn't been very many visits to the library to justify dressing up, not outside of that one woman a while back. Still, he felt the urge to go home and change out of the shirt, jacket, and jeans he wore into something more formal. He finished chewing his latest snack and turned to do just that – when someone spoke.
“My day isn't your concern, but I would never call it 'lovely' before it's even finished. There's more than enough room for it to be ruined.” He stared at the man for a moment and, when that didn't help him in recognizing the other, he stated, “..I don't know you. You shouldn't know me. Why are you talking to me?” He moved slightly back, not out of any paranoia but to make sure there was a firm boundary between them as strangers. Doing so allowed him a view of further down the table, where a flash of white hair had caught his eyes. Rune? ….No, no, that was someone else, Rune wasn't nearly that attractive. Oh. “Damn.” He mumbled absently as he looked towards Angela, before recalling how rude it was to just stare at someone like that, not to mention creepy. Speaking of creepy, he returned his attention to the man in front of him and raised an eyebrow.

Alright, Jacob, now time to not screw this whole thing up. For one, this was the Goddess Festival – which was a pretty big deal for both his profession and the whole town. Secondly, he was on a date with probably the only girl he ever had a chance with ever and he actually really liked her too. He didn't know if he could handle screwing this up anymore than he already had – not again. Unfortunately, reminding himself on his walk over to the festival grounds of just how important this evening was didn't exactly help make him anymore confident. In fact, it set him on edge to where he had to stop every few paces or so to check to make sure his clothes were right, the present was safely tucked in his robes, and his hair wasn't a complete mess. Had he washed his face? Yeah, he was pretty squeaky clean – damn, couldn't he just not show up? He stopped for the umpteenth time and stared at the festival in the distance before letting out a breath – no. No, he had to show. Zelynity was waiting for him and it would be the worst if he just left her hanging.
So, he took one last moment before he finished his trek to the festival grounds, pausing just before the crowd to look over everyone. In the recent years, it had gotten considerably more fancy – he suspected it had a lot to do with the newcomers and young kids trying to turn the day into some kind of school dance. He couldn't blame them, considering the local school didn't really have any of the annual proms his high school in the city did. Besides, he liked to see everyone dressed up, even if some people.. Like, say, his sister in a t-shirt and jeans over there, didn't quite get the right idea about 'formal wear'. He shook his head and decided to make a beeline for Zell, dressed up in a pretty mint dress. He couldn't stop himself from staring at her legs before clearing his throat and, maintaining a safe distance, spoke. “Hey, Zell, glad you could make it.”

Decked out in his usual supersuit, Finnian hadn't wasted time in arriving to the festival! Of course, he hadn't made his appearance really known.. The man had to wait for the perfect moment so his entrance would be recognized by everyone because what hero simply walked in like a normal person? Not Super Kuiper! So, he had climbed a tree long before the decorations had finished being set up and promptly fell asleep as he waited for everyone to gather. He had plenty of experience sleeping in trees, so he didn't have much of a problem staying comfortable – that is, until a familiar voice sounded from below. His cat nap had quickly come to an end when his brain realized that that was Elliot's voice! He didn't know she was going to the festival today! Perfect, they could go make their entrance together! He was about to request Elliot go get her supersuit on in a secretive fashion, but, the moment he had crouched down on his branch to shout down to her, he had heard what the redhead with Elliot had said. ...Show?! He can't put on a show! Not when Super Kuiper was here!
The man swung himself down, landing between Riley and Elliot. He faced the eye-patched villain in the sparkle suit that was actually pretty inspiring. He wished he had thought to make his supersuit as bedazzling as this villain had, but that was for later! For now, he pointed an accusatory finger at the man, “Stay back, Elliot!” He was such a thoughtful teammate, not outing his fellow superhero like that! He gave himself a mental pat on the back before continuing on, “This heinous villain is trying to seduce you onto the path of evil, but I, Super Kuiper, will put a stop to this right away! Sir, if you would kindly relent from whatever dastardly 'shows' you plan, I will cause you no harm!” That's right, Super Kuiper. Offer a way out first like the good man you are and then carry them away to jail! He was sure Elliot was staring at him with a look of pure adoration about now – after all, even as a fellow hero, Super Kuiper's actions were simply dazzling!

Theresa had been to the Goddess Festival on and off – mostly during Jacob's early priesthood days, as the festival was one of his favorites and he would often spout about just how important it was to the island's foundations. So, in support, the woman had appeared – later, it was to drop Brian off, and then.. Well, then she just didn't show up at all. But, jeez, last she remembered, this place was way more casual. She felt out of place in her t-shirt and jeans when women were walking by in what looked to be ballroom gowns to her untrained eyed – stuff she saw on television for actresses and upperclass people. But, that was probably just her – after all, she didn't get out much unless it was to drink in the local bar and, hey, there were a good handful of people in nothing too fancy! She pushed away the momentary insecurity to try to find someone she knew – which was hard. She didn't have much of a social life, now that she thought of it. She frowned slightly at that and decided she may as well start changing that now.
So, she approached the first person she could see – a man with what she hoped was his daughter (Will & Scarlette). “Hey! Cute kid – is she yours?” It was probably best to make sure this wasn't some random kidnapping taking place before starting up a conversation, she guessed. She kept herself casual as she looked at the little one – awe. She remembered when Brian was this small~

Ah.. Yes.. This was her place.. Xochiquetzal didn't always gravitate towards so much activity, especially when she could very well drop at any moment and leave herself exposed. Perhaps when she was younger, she would feel more comfortable getting stepped on, but a Goddess had to keep herself.. at least mildly safe from scars. But, this was her festival. The Goddess Festival – how much more blatant a sign need it be for the woman to not acknowledge her presence was simply required? She had taken quite some time to make it to the grounds, but the fact that she had arrived during the festivities at all was a feat in itself. Not that anyone was clapping for her. She paused at the edge of the worst of the crowd, looking honestly confused for a moment as she realized the masses hadn't bowed to her before she recalled her mortal form.
Yes, yes, she needed to remind these people first.. Starting with.. Ah, was that not her date..? She spotted Miah Bernadetto and immediately headed after her, hand outstretched to grab onto the girl's arm. “...Ah... Miah.. Correct?” She stared at a nearby lantern for a beat before looking back to the woman, “...You will.. vote for me, won't you..?”

January's mix of shock and confusion had begun to move into her limbs, making them feel a little bit like jelly held in place with rubber bands. Was she really standing there? Did she really exist? Normally she would be tense, prepared to summon her servants or sprint back to the safety of her mansion at a moment's notice, but her arms no longer felt like arms, so any karate chopping was probably well out of her capabilities. "...Okay..." she accepted his compliment weakly -- what was she gonna do, thank him? Pfft.
Not any old hobo was worthy of getting an introduction from January herself, but her brain was sort of fizzling out at the moment, so she answered his question without thinking. Besides, he had called her ravishing and that was a first for her. "January... January Sonata," she replied, still staring up at him with wide eyes. "My brother is Ferdinando Sonata, of course." Everyone knew who Ferdinando was, how could they not? His radiance was impossible to ignore. "You... what do you want...?" she finally managed to sputter out the beginnings of an accusation as the gears in her weak Sonata brain began to creak along once more.

Maybe someone else would have been put off by the sheer number and rapidity of Chloe's compliments, but Peter was not a suspicious person, which typically went hand-in-hand with intelligence, he found. Peter Tamaki was a curious man, a studious man, an educated man, but he was not a clever man. But instead of rejecting what he didn't understand like his mother tended to do, he accepted it with a smile and a word of thanks.
"Thank you," Peter smiled, leaving it at that. What were you supposed to say to such a string of compliments other than thank you? Besides, there were more interesting things to talk about, like the sky! "Do you like stargazing?" he asked at the mention of her telescope. "I've lived here my whole life, you know, and I don't think I've met anyone else who actually owns a telescope... or really has much interest in all the natural things around them, which is sort of a waste when you live here." He had meant it in just an observational way, but it sounded a lot meaner said aloud. "...I don't mean to judge or anything! I just noticed," he hurriedly added, laughing nervously.

By this point, Garland had taken several laps around the square, though he had stopped greeting every lady he saw once the number of ladies had increased. He was indeed girl-crazy, but that came hand-in-hand with one other characteristic: a crippling fear of being laughed at by said girls. In any case, he had begun to get tired, so he slowed to a stop and glanced around. There were certainly a larger selection than before, but the pickings weren't any less slim. Angela was there, sure, but she was over by other people, and besides, he wasn't sure where he stood with her. He recognized Rune, surprisingly, from almost two years prior, but he couldn't remember her name (it was something strange... Hieroglyphic? No that was a stupid guess what are you even doing with your life Garland) and he couldn't summon the courage to go talk to her after she had smiled at him. Other girls were either too old, intimidating, or otherwise engaged, and he found himself making a lot of excuses.
He wouldn't forgive himself if he came all the way to the Goddess festival and didn't talk to any girls, so he began his loop again. He just had to pick someone to talk to. It was probably a little unfair to the girls, but when did Garland ever think about stuff like that? Taking a deep breath, he marched up to Raven, stopping right in front of her. Another deep inhale, and he smoothed his hair back -- though his curls bounced defiantly back to where they had been before -- and tried his best to smile. "Hey," he went to wink but ended up just blinking instead, "I'm Garland. You come here often?"

Will had heard that there would be dancing, but it didn't seem like a lot of people were taking that route just yet. That was fine, he was in no hurry, and besides, he hadn't really been into dancing in public ever since Nat laughed at him that one time ... and several times since. "Hey Lettie," he said to his daughter in his arms, "Do you want to da--" But before he could even finish his suggestion, Scarlette turned her head firmly away. She didn't even want to hear it. Discouraged, Will gave up and decided to just focus on watching the festivities.
...That is, until someone said something that seemed to be directed at him. Will tried not to seem too excited -- he had been working at home all this time so he hadn't really had a chance to meet the people on the island, outside of Rory and the NPCs at the general store. "Oh! Hello!" he greeted Tess, his father heart swelling with pride as someone called his little girl cute. He had always known in his gut that she was cute, but it was another thing to have it confirmed by a stranger. "Yes, she's mine. Mine and my wife's," he added for no reason other than confirming that, yes, he was still married. "Scarlette, you should say hello," he prompted her.
Scarlette turned to look at Tess, her little face frowning as it usually was. She assessed the strange woman with a single long glance to her face, but she didn't like what she saw. She usually didn't. Refusing to say a single word, Scarlette shook her head -- a big fat NO, I will not say hello. Will laughed nervously and readjusting his grip as his daughter began to wiggle in his arms. "I'm sorry about that... She's not a big talker, I'm sorry."

Todd had almost begun to choke on spit as Christine leaned near him. It was a slightly frightening and completely amazing moment, and he didn't quite know how to handle himself. He tried to take deep breaths, but it was hard with her so dangerously close to him. When she had practically told him to check her out, he really did choke. Somehow, it felt a little bit relaxing, even if there was a chance it was a joke. He scratched nervously at his neck, trying to formulate a response to that. Holy s**t. What does one even say to that? Oh thanks, baby. Let me look at them tittays! No, that was just creepy. It seemed like he was on a creep roll and was not getting any better. Perhaps approaching the most attractive person here was not a good idea. He probably should've talked to some random person about the weather to lighten himself up. It was too late now, he couldn't just walk away and then come back later. By then she would have some other suitor. Any guy would be lucky to stand next to her, and he knew that everyone here knew that.
Todd's eyes followed to where she had been looking to notice Xeiro doing... whatever the hell that even was. He laughed, feeling a strange mixture of happiness and jealousy. A part of him felt that he was relieved from the contest of attraction he normally played with Xeiro. It was difficult having similar features that weren't necessarily any better, but he didn't have that goofiness. He could be proud of that, but he wasn't. It made him feel largely insecure, actually. Looking at Xeiro having a good time made him wonder if the man had ever had a feeling like he was just having. Was it possible for Xeiro to even feel nervous? He was surrounded by people, some of which he probably didn't know, and yet he was dancing like a complete idiot. It was as if no one was around but his date. For the first time in as long as he had known Xeiro, he found himself not feeling jealous for something they shared that he did better, but for something he had that Todd didn't have at all.
"Yeah, I guess we don't." He said as he turned his head back to her. "Say, would you like to dance? Maybe we can show them how it's really done." His mind wasn't on the aesthetics of actually dancing with someone who was practically a foot shorter than him. All he cared about was throwing his cares away.

It felt like the whole square was spinning. Morgan's head instantly began to feel light and he was even less sure that coming here was a good idea. He had just revealed an awful lot about himself in a matter of minutes and that could be very, very dangerous. He felt terribly insecure telling this man anything about himself and really wanted to hop up and run home. Unfortunately, this guy was being nice enough to talk to him, so he thought it best to stay. Morgan stiffened as the man invited him to bring the pets to the vet, sure he had often thought about it. But, it had always seemed as too much of a strain. Oh goddess, had he been guilty of animal cruelty all these years? He glanced over briefly, not allowing his face to fully turn towards the man. It was bad enough that he had to talk at all, he was not going to expose his full face to him. The option of dropping off the pets sounded seemingly nice. He allowed a moment to pass while he thought through the scenario of dropping the pets off. This time was also good to allow for the man to add anything else.
As he was met with silence, he began to take his turn at speaking. "I appreciate your offer. That is very kind of you to attempt to accommodate my particular situation. However, I will have to decline. I believe that it would be far too risky to leave the three of them at the door or with someone I have not been made familiar with. I believe that I will bring them to your offices myself." He paused, fully realizing the meaning behind what he had said. After swallowing he continued, "I have concluded that you are very correct in stating that a check-up is necessary. I have been foolish to believe that I could handle this situation entirely alone. I hope you will accept my apologies if I have belittled your profession any. I assure you that was not my intention." He imagined that that was a feeling that would come along. He would feel that way if a customer had decided to stock the shelves themselves. Had he not been good enough at his job? Had he not tried hard enough? It was probably safe to assume that most people did not worry as much as him, so maybe that was not what Trevor was feeling.

Xeiro had been about to transition to the macarena when Tshila made her way to him. He smiled eagerly, glad to have her close by. She looked simply stunning and he was sure that the two of them dancing together would make a great sight for everyone. The fun they would have was just a wonderful addition. There were a few words that he thought perfectly described him in this moment, but brilliant did not make that list. He stopped dancing briefly to smile at her in gratitude. As if being next to a beautiful lady did not already boost him up, "Thank you. I don't know any of those silly fancy dances, but I do know a few like this." He laughed, considering busting out the running man.
It was a bit hard to believe that she didn't know how to do the sprinkler, but he figured it probably had something to do with their age gap. How many years were between them again? Hmm, had that ever really been clarified? Obviously a nice dance was no place to ask his date how old she was, but it was still something good to think of later. "Don't worry your pretty little head." He patted the top of her head gently before placing his hand back on his neck. "First you have to take one hand like this." He stopped for a moment to allow her to follow suit.

Riley straightened his back and pulled his cane up over his shoulder at the realization that Elliot was not going to play along with this. Her resistance to all of his advances always kept an air of excitement for him. He had always enjoyed being the one that had to do the chasing, and this was certainly no exception. Their dynamic had been one that enticed him, even if it had only been for a short period of time. The face that she was the one to approach him was probably not a good thing for her. It only sparked the fuel of hope within him, and it was pretty hard to shake Riley once he was set on something. Apparently he had been too convincing, as Elliot appeared to believe that he really would be performing. His eyes trailed over to Todd, while he attempted to determine if it was best to get rid of Elliot or keep her around. He had hoped for some action, and she was better nothing. The same old boring thing was happening in that direction, so it seemed best to spend some more time with Elliot. "It's really more of an adult show." He said with a smile.
Unfortunately, he didn't have time to further elaborate as they were being attacked from the sky. He pulled his cane from his shoulder quickly and shifted to a defensive stance. At the sight of the man that had dropped, he placed his cane back up on his shoulder with a laugh. It was just that creep that Tatyana had told him about. The grown man lost in the fantasy world of being a superhero. He was too pathetic to deserve to be beaten by a cane. He did have to give the masked man credit though, he quickly discerned that Riley was trying to seduce Elliot. "The thought of you attempting to harm me causes shivers to go down my spine, so I think I'm going to have to pass. " He placed his finger on Finnian's lower lip in attempts to make him squirm away. "Maybe you could just join the show. There's plenty of room for all of us in Riley's playhouse." He briefly considered pushing his finger into Finnian's mouth but stopped himself for fear of getting bitten.

Zelynity was contemplating her escape for probably the millionth time. She patted her hands down her dress, wondering if she was simply trying too hard to fix something that was clearly broken. If she was going to go, it was now or never. She was a big girl, and she could definitely afford to start over with someone new. It wasn't like she was too old and had approximately zero prospects. Okay, maybe she should stay and just hear him out. No. She had gotten by this long without a man. She could make it the rest of her life without one. Yes, the answer seemed so simple. She'd just leave. She patted at the bottom of her dress a final time before she left. Her eyes lifted quickly to find the exit, but there appeared to be someone in the way. Someone with dark hair and kind eyes that she wished she could spend an eternity staring into. The pace of her heart began to hasten as she watched him step closer. She couldn't discern where these feelings were coming from, but she had to admit that the feeling was nice. It felt comforting to be vulnerable in a public space. There was practically nothing to fear and maybe a lot to gain.
Her cheeks began to redden as she noticed that his eyes were considerably low. She clasped her hands behind her back to hope for some sense of control. Glad you could make it? What the hell was all of that supposed to mean? No, she couldn't let herself get worked up on everything she said. It was important to know that he was here. That was all that really mattered. Should she shake his hand? Hug him? Was that too much? Probably not, she'd just have to make it quick. "Yeah, I'm glad you could too." She said before stepping forward and quickly patting him on the back. It was hardly an intimate embrace, but it felt adequate enough to show gratitude for his presence. She quickly took a step backwards once she had freed him and continued to smile, albeit a little forced. "I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you. I've been pretty busy lately." It didn't really matter that that was mostly a lie. Oh goddess, when had her conscience twisted beyond the point of lying to priests?

"It isn't?" Javor asked, pouring himself some punch. He was slightly surprised (mostly because he'd already tuned Ed's droning out almost instantly, and had only caught bits and pieces of what he'd said) to learn this. "Are you sure?" He frowned. Well, he supposed it was true, working out what it was Ed had just said to him. Javor didn't really like talking to boring people, and Ed's day could get worse. At least the man had some brains in there. "You're right, I'm sure it can," he said, taking a sip of his punch. Ugh. What was this godawful stuff? He frowned as he reached over and dumped it on Ed. "Excuse me."He sidestepped the other man and started away... ** Angela was intercepted on her way toward the refreshment table by a vaguely familiar man who was staring at the "dancer" a short ways away. Angela paused and eyed Xeiro out of the corner of her eye. "Just don't look at him," she said quietly. "If no one acknowledges it, maybe he'll stop." It was sort of mean, she supposed...but that was just disturbing and made this whole affair feel vaguely more like she should be putting money in someone's underwear or something. She studied the man who had spoken, trying to figure out why he looked so familiar. Oh. OH! Hell. Wasn't he that fellow Xochi passed out on the day she thought Angela was a cloud person and dragged her all over the bloody island looking for her missing family? Or...something. Angela didn't really even remember much about what they were doing other than the fact that they ended up in a beach cave with a walrus. Come to think of it, whatever happened to that walrus? Angela frowned slightly, trying to mull that over. As she did so, she sneaked a look at the man in front of her. Wasn't he a police officer? Well, whatever. Hopefully he didn't remember her. She shot a surreptitious glance toward the brunette and sighed silently. Damn. Whoa! What? What? Did she just see that!? She instantly forgot about the blonde police officer when the red head just dumped his punch on the other man. What the hell!? Angela hurried to the two of them, shooting the red head a scowl. "What is your problem!?" she demanded angrily. "Are you okay?" she asked Ed, looking around for napkins. Not that she thought they would help much. Still, she snatched a handful and started daubing gingerly at his shoulder, shooting Javor a death glare. "Bloody insane b*****d," she muttered. She still remembered the pigeon incident from New Year's. ** "Of course," Gray said, giving her a faint smile. So she was a Sonata after all. Well, that wasn't particularly surprising. He studied her for a moment, then shrugged inwardly. Eh. He'd risk it. The worst she could do is slap him. Probably. He took her hand and brought it to her lips, just barely grazing her knuckles. "And I am Peregrine Elliott Gray Wellington IV. It is my deepest pleasure to make your acquaintance.""As for what I want, isn't it obviously to simply give a beautiful young woman a compliment she rightly deserves?" He sounded like such a smarmy git but he couldn't help it. She appeared to be eating it up so he couldn't help but lay it on thick. It was his nature, after all. "I do apologize if I interrupted your evening. Perhaps it was too bold but I was simply so struck but your radiance that I simply had to say something. Indeed, until your lovely visage entered my line of sight, I feared this party would be too dull to keep my interest at all."** "Really?" Chloe asked, surprised. "That is a shame, isn't it? And I do agree that it's a waste when there's such a beautiful sky every night. I enjoy stargazing though I'm afraid I'm little more than an amateur. And my telescope is very old so I fear it isn't really good enough to see some of the more spectacular sights in the cosmos. But I do enjoy taking it out when I have time, and when the weather permits." She smiled at him, very pleased he was as nice as he appeared to be. Though she hadn't met anyone on the island so far that she didn't think was nice in at least some fashion. True, there were some that were a little more rough around the edges, but everyone was nice in their own way for the most part. "What about you, Peter? Have you always had an interest in astronomy? I developed an interest in astrology when I was a teenager and though I'll confess I've mostly grown out of it, it led to an interest in the more scientific side of the stars. At any rate, without interest in the scientific or supernatural, they're beautiful to look at."
** Christine definitely wanted to dance. Though she had to be a little careful--if she got too crazy with her dance moves, this dress was not staying in place. Well, whatever. She was here to have fun, not be stuffy about who might catch a glimpse of skin. She put a hand on his elbow and let it slide down to his hand. Smiling at him as she pulled him to the dance floor, she said, "Just tell me you dance better than that." She gave him another coy grin over her shoulder as she turned to face him, moving a bit closer. "If you tell me you know how to tango even slightly, I will be yours for the night--and more--I promise," she teased. "Well, that is, if you want me to be." She didn't tell him that they may need a few extra sessions after a night of dancing in those heels. That might worry him. Besides, she had a strong suspicion it would be so worth it. She glanced toward Xeiro, noticing the blonde thing next to him was starting to mimic his dance--it was like watching some kind of creepy mating ritual. Eurgh. "Shall we show them how it's done?"** Trevor felt kind of bad for Morgan. The man seemed scared stiff and really, if someone was scared of him, of all people, he couldn't imagine what life must be like. "OH! I'm offended at all--you don't have to apologize in the slightest," he said quickly, holding up his hands. "Really! I didn't mean it like that. You know, I just worry about the animals. I'm sure you're a completely great owner! They're probably totally fine. But,you know, some things we can really only test for properly in the office. It's good to bring them in annually just so we can be sure they're totally fine, or to catch any problems before they become serious, yeah?"But hey, he'd agreed to bring them in. That was great. Not only was it good for the animals, but it would also be good for Morgan. Hey, maybe Trev could help him out, make him feel a little less anxious. Or geez, just be a friend or something. The guy could use a friend. And he could introduce him to Seth and---okay, no. No, that would be a very, very bad idea. But hey, at least he would be a good friend, right? And they shared a love of animals--that was some great common ground, right there. ** Tshila was not entirely sure she wanted to dance like Xeiro. Besides, in this dress, she really didn't think she could mimic that stance without it getting pretty obscene and she did not want to be flashing her backside at people anyway. Still, he'd asked her to so of of course she'd try. It would be rude not to! Besides, he looked like he was having so much fun and she couldn't just stand beside him like a huge, creepy lump of not-funness. That was boring. But she definitely was not going to make herself look silly for free. "Alright!" she told him, grinning. "But if I learn your dance, you have to learn one of mine next. You'll totally be great at it!" Well, he probably wouldn't--one didn't build that kind of flexibility over night. But it would be totally hilarious and adorable, so that made it worth it. She stood next to him and put one hand at the back of her neck. "So how do I do this again?" she asked, making an approximation of what he'd done a few minutes ago, with a little more hip wiggle to it--because hip wiggle improved just about everything.
