I was just curious how many in the guild actually take Japanese classes. I'm currently doing an evening course every Monday and Thursday for three hours each night. It's hard but extremly fun.

I'm blessed enough to have Japanese available for all of high school. I'm in year 1, and plan to take it for the rest of high school.

I started in ... August of 2002. Only Japanese language course I'm in right now is classical japanese. So, I'm reading the Ise Monogatari at the moment, and it's not too terribly hard to understand except when it comes to the poems embedded in the episodes. gonk

I took classes at KAI Nihongo School in Tokyo for 2 years. I really recommend it to anyone who wants to study in Tokyo. 3nodding It was one of the best experiences of my life. The classes are pretty well balanced with about half Westerners and half Korean (it's located in the Korea Town basically). The teachers are all great and love doing what they do, and love their students.
Just the building was really run down. And not too safe for earthquakes. sweatdrop

watashi wa ninenkan gurai nihongo o benkyoushiteimasu. maikayoubi yoru no KURASU ni kayoimasu. shigoto wo shiteiru kara jikan ga nai hito ga kayou kara arikitari na KURASU yori osoi desu.
I've been studying Japanese for about 2 years. Every tuesday, I attend a night class. Because people who work, and so dont have a lot of time, attend it, it's slower than a ordinary class.
(I have nooooo idea if I said that last sentance right ^^;;;; Just my terrible guess at how I would say it...)

Well if you take a class at a community college it should be affordable. A lot of people do that with Japanese...
Someone mentioned they have it in HIGH SCHOOL!? What state do you live in?

What state do you live in? I hope i'm not intruding, but in Hawaii a lot of the High Schools have Japanese classes. I think I also remembered hearing about a high school in California teaching Japanese too, I forgot where it was though sweatdrop .

I took a two-month course over last summer: six hours of class a day, six to eight hours of homework a day. It was the Harvard first-year college course condensed into a two-month session, and it keeeeeelled me. ; 3;
Right now I'm taking Japanese Ab Initio for the IB diploma, and it's incredibly easy. ; 3; I'm determined to be the Teacher's first full-mark scoring student. X3

My high school introduced Japanese only a few years after I graduated!! scream
Thing is though, I dont know if I would have taken it then since I had already started Spanish in junior-high. I might've though... The world will never know!
I take a night class at a community college for about $400 a quarter. So $1200 a year. I dont know how that compares to other colleges. This one is actually a branch of a large University so that might make it more expensive?
