.........Zaina's feet pranced among the soft ground. It had felt like months since she had left the Pridelands. Her family had been in that land since she was a cub, they moved there shortly after she was born. Though to her it felt like Ages. It was different now, she was on her own. Happy to be somewhere new - exciting. To set her paws where they had never been before. Somewhere she didn't know, where the wind blew in her mane and made her feel so relaxed..........A smile was shining on her face, as she continued to walk. She lifted her head and shook it and took a glance around. As she finished shaking her head, she froze. In front of her where some trees, that looked as ancient as her ancestors from the swamps. They were beautiful in eyes, unlike anything she had ever seen before. She was almost in a daze as she was lost in their beauty. The daze continued as she began to inch closer to them, one step at a time. Not even thinking about where she may be crossing into.

Those same trees that enticed the lioness were the bars of a prison to Rudra and he sat just beyond the edge of them, his tail making listless swirls in the brush behind him and he pondered his situation.
He found himself thankful for his wonderful mother. She had always given him the freedom to escape the confines of the Ashnai'le every now and then. She offered him the freedom he was unable to attain himself and for that he was eternally grateful. In return he collected stories of his adventures. It had been so long since she had seen the freedom she gave him that it was the very least he could do.
As his mind wandered, a dark shape slowly formed in front of him and it took a moment for his golden eyes to really register what it was.
Once it clicked his tail fell flat and his heart skipped a beat. It had been so long since somebody had been foolish enough to come towards these lands. Had the outside world forgotten about them? It would make sense...They kept to themselves so fiercely...Who would remember a reclusive pride stuck in a valley?
Rudra sighed, his mind conflicted. If he sat here and let her enter her fate was surely sealed. But could he talk to her?
It had been so long since he spoke to anyone other than his family...He wasn't even sure what to do or how you started a conversation anymore.
His idleness only brought her -it was obviously a female now- and he set his jaw. Something had to happen.
Once she was merely twenty feet away from the treeline, the lion charged forward with a ferocious roar. It felt strange coming from him, usually so quiet, but he put his best effort into it. He narrowed his eyes and let out a low growl before forcing out a gravely
"Go back!"
This was nothing like the lion that Rudra truly was...But if he allowed her in the Ligi would do more than roar...

The trees called to Zaina for some odd reason, it was as if they had a story to tell or begin. What story she didn't know. Maybe it was a story as crazy as her own. With that thought in head her daze grew stronger as she took another step towards the ancient trees.
Her daze - that was quickly broken though, by the sound of a mighty growl and a warning of words. The growl shook her a little bit, as she shook her head to make sure the daze was gone. Once she was sure it was she listened to the words carefully. The words echoed in her head the second she made them out, 'Go back'. Go back? Back from where, now that was her real question. Since she didn't quiet know where she was anyways.
At the current moment though she didn't really have time to think about that.
First things first, find the growler. So she quickly turned her head and began to look for the owner of the growl. Since she didn't think growls could come from trees - or could they? At the thought she giggled, but then began her look once more.
It wasn't long before she noticed where the roar had come from. It was from a lion; and obviously a male even if she hadn't really seen may those; but to top it off he was almost right at her standing location.
He was black colored like herself, but with striped marks. So she did the first thing she could think of and spoke towards him with a bright smile, "Hi there! How are you today? Oh and mind if I ask where I should go back from?

The lioness' reaction made Rudra made him pause and blink, confused. His face, that had been screwed up in an image of rage and ferocity fell into something more simple and strange.
Was he...not scary?
If she didn't take him seriously, how would any Ligi that threatened his family. He scowled but held his ground. She was obviously oblivious.
Perhaps she was lucky to be so...
Stomping his right front paw on the ground, he screwed up his face again and spoke in a deep, hopefully frightening tone.
"These woods mark the lands of the Ashnai'le. You'd be better off going back where ever you came from," he squared his shoulders in at attempt to look bigger and ignored her question about how he was. She had to go quickly before she got caught up in this whole mess.
Really, it was for the best. She was lucky she had the freedom to roam as she did. He envied her.

She looked at him for a minute and tried to figure him out just a little bit. Once his scary face had faded away she noticed something. It was simple yet, strange face. It was actually really sweet, and relaxing for her. A smile half grew on her face, before she shook her head and realized he was back in rage mode.
"I'm from the Pridelands, though the Ashnai'le sounds nice. Minus the growling rage," she said with her smile being completed and laugh quickly coming from her mouth.
As she stopped her short laughing she began to realize small things. Such as how He was so much bigger than her, and he actually was really scary.
The more she looked at him though, the more she wondered. What was he being all scary for, since something in her said he wasn't all that bad of a guy. he actually looked like someone who without the roar and harsh voice, would be kind.
Or maybe she was just being oblivious again, since for her it wouldn't be the first time or definitely the last. But she had know. Was her gut wrong or right. So she took and deep breath, and opened her mouth to speak.
"I know this may sound weird, but are you trying to scare me away from the pride because it's dangerous or just cause I'm an outside? or is both actually? Since I really don't feel your that bad of a guy, even with the scary face and growl," she said these words softly and kindly.
She hoped she didn't over step her welcome, but on the other hand she was just a very very curious lioness. Always was, even as a cub.

Her words left Rudra truly taken aback and he was stunned, unsure of what to say or how to respond. Normally, when he screamed at people, they were quick to leave without question. His bright yellow eyes stood out from the darkness of the trees and were less than inviting. So how was it that this lioness was entirely unfazed? Were the Pridelands full of angry lions? Did they all posture as he was posturing? What on in the plains told her that she was safe enough to simply chat? He seemed nice..? His pride sounded nice? The outside world truly was blind to their plight, weren't they? Somewhere inside, Rudra had the silly, childish hope that someone would come and save them. Now he saw how ludicrous that was. With these revelations laying thickly on his mind, the lion plopped down into a sitting position, his shoulders slouching slightly under the weight of his disappointment. It was then that it occurred to him that he was being rude and he looked up at her again, still unsure of how to respond. "It...It's a dangerous place. You're safer not coming any closer. If the ligi find you it won't end well. It never does," the lion sighed and looked back the way he had come with disdain. His family was the only thing that kept him bound to that hell. If not for his mother, his brothers...He would be free to roam just as this lioness did. "I mean, I don't mind outsiders, really, but they do," he decided to leave her comments about how nice he seemed out of the conversation for now. He wasn't sure how to take that. Instead, he asked, "Why...didn't you run? Outsiders always run," The lion cocked his head to the side in curiosity, forgetting for now the danger they were in. chi honda So sorry! Life got crazy. I'd love to continue this if you'd like.

She listened to his words carefully and just nodded. Maybe his pride was different from hers, but it still was just a pride. Every pride had its problem, and she knew that better than most lions probably did.
"I see," she whispered as she stood there for a moment thinking and examining his disdain like look.
Why would a pride not want outsiders, that was her first real thought. Though then again, the swampie's weren't to fond of outsiders either or some outsiders. Her markings and family history were proof of that. So maybe it was for similar reasons as them, but either way. In her min not all outsiders are the same, and sometimes she thought that some prides forgot that small fact.
"Well as long as the ligi don't find us, we're good right?," she said with a smile as she walked and laid down right in front of him.
She Hoped that her statement would take some of the worry off of him. Even if in reality she really wasn't very frightened for some odd reason of the danger or the ligi, despite how mean and vicious they may be if they found her talking to him. Honestly - she just didn't want him to get hurt in anyway, but there was no way she would let that happen even if he didn't know that.
Her thought began to slowly vanish as she sat down with her body touching the ground she looked at him once again. His bright yellow eyes glowed and his black fur with stripes made her curious about what he was really like.It was strange to her but something about him highly peaked her interest. He was different from others she had met, but at the same time she just really wanted to continue to converse with him more.
"I'm very glad you don't mind outsiders, since I really like talking to you," she said before continuing, "and I didn't run because I'm not like all the outsiders you've probably met. I don't scare easily and when I find good company I definitely don't like to run away and leave them by their lonesome. That's just rude after-all and a waste of a good time."
At the end of her last word, she laid her head down on her front paws and looked up at him. In her face and eyes if you looked close enough was a kind and soft expression awaiting happily the lions reply.
Kallysto No worries at all! : ) I completely understand. Awesome! Well I'd definitely love to continue it! I love this rp so far! <3

Rudra watched the lioness in front of him with growing curiosity. She seemed so unfazed by the imminent danger around them...Though it made sense to him that if she had not lived the life she had, she would not understand the fear that the ligi struck into his own heart...At the same time, every second she laid there so calmly was another second that risked her becoming a slave in the pride...
Though it wasn't as if the Ligi were sneaky, really. They were so full of themselves they did not bother sneaking...Rudra would hear them coming...It would be enough time to get her somewhere safe and he himself could easily hide somewhere dark. His stripes helped him blend in.
...Maybe it wouldn't hurt to talk to her after all...
After a moment of deliberation, Rudra slowly sat down, curling his tail tightly around him. The tip of it twitched nervously but...Perhaps this was a good encounter. How often did he get to spend time with other lions outside of his family? And she seemed pleasant enough...
"I just feel I should warn you that if you do get caught here, well...The ligi take outsiders in as slaves," he sighed and glanced nervously over his shoulder before reminding himself that he would know if they were coming.
"Honestly...It's nice to talk to someone other than my family...I...Er. I'm sorry. I don't mean to be rude...I'm not used to...Well. I'm Rudra...It's...nice to meet you," he sputtered out awkwardly. It had been so long since he met someone that he sort of forgot how to.

Zaina listened intently as he spoke. She could tell he was worried about the danger they were in, not only by his words but by his actions as well. It actually made her feel happy oddly enough. She hadn't ever really had anyone be worried about her before, it felt nice and especially sine she was worried for him in return.
"Well thank you for the warning me, I appreciate it," she said as her tail swished back and forth. "Though I'm sure we'll be fine. It's quiet out here after-all. Just you and me." The thought of slavery didn't sound togood, but in her mind that wasn't going to happen she was sure of it. So she shook her head an focused bak on him.
The more she focused on him - in a way He was kind of like her, she had never really left the pride-lands until now and it seemed like he had never left here before. She only left because she wanted a change of scenery, not because of the environment. Though for some reason it all led her here. Maybe it was just what she was looking for in a way, and maybe it was to give him some good company. Since really she couldn't think of any place better to be than in the company of a seemingly kind person.
"I think so too. I don't get out much either," she giggled and continued speaking, "Don't worry your fine and doing great. Not rude at all. Though It's nice to meet you Rudra, I'm Zaina."
She held out her left paw in the form of a paw shake towards him. It was something she had seen her parents do at least once. It was a signal of greeting she thought, though in all honesty she didn't really know if that was right or just a thought she had produced in her mind.

Zaina. An interesting name for a curious lioness. She seemed so very carefree. Ru wondered what that must have felt like. To be free. To happily roam to your heart's content. He longed to be free of this wretched place. He wished he and his family could simply...walk out...It would be simple, surely...Cause a distraction, sneak them out of the lands...If they got far enough the Ligi would never be able to find them...And even if they did, they would have a new home by then. New friends. They wouldn't be able to make them go back. Rudra scowled, his claws flexing on the ground in front of him. Childish thoughts. They would be here for forever. Rudra could never leave. All the more reason, then, to enjoy this rare treat. He had to stop living in his head. "Zaina," he repeated her name, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips, just Rudra and Zaina for now, "Just be careful. The ligi aren't very sneaky, you'll hear them coming...And I'm glad that I'm not, er, rude, well. I'm sorry again for roaring at you...Um..." What did one talk about with strangers? All they'd talked about was the Ashnai'le... "So...What is it like out in the rogue lands?" the question popped out before he could think about it and his golden eyes lit up, eager to think about something other than his home. Hopefully she could share stories with him.

This day had turned out to be the best day so far. She had someone to talk to and someone to laugh with. Back home, she never really had that. In her mind her siblings knew she was different, and in a way it seemed to create a bit of distance between them. Though no matter the distance her family was top priority to her.
At the thought of family, she looked at her new friend and wonder just what type of family he might come from. Was it large one like her's with a secret story or just a kind family like him. '
She drifted off into her own world - dreaming of what might be his family. She quickly shook her head and looked back at him.
Zaina nodded and smiled as her head came from the clouds. When she saw that smile at the corner of his lips after saying her name it made her all happy inside. No one had ever been happy about her name like that before. Was this what having real friends was like?
Though she quickly responded, "I promise I'll be careful, and if I see the ligi i'll let you know. Oh and no worries everybody roars." she finished her sentence with a laugh and another smile.
Hmm ... she began to think - what was the rouge lands like. As she looked to the sky. "Well there a little barren in places, unlike here with all the trees. There are tons of travelers though. All different species! I even saw a cheetah once!" Her eyes began to sparkle as she spoke of it. The different species were so awesome! It was just amazing to think all of them could live in one place almost in harmony. Though the second she thought of that - a unfamiliar story popped in her head. A cub with markings walking through the rouge lands with her family.
"You know I do have one story you've probably ever heard before. It's one about a family leaving a pride and traveling somewhere new. Would you like to hear it?" she said as she moved her gaze from the sky back to him.
