As in most islands, or just bodies of land in general, a beach is necessary. The outer rim of Nirvani Island is a beautiful, peaceful beach, the sand is white and soft underfoot. In the sun, the area is thriving of pesky hermit crabs making their way across, the occasional ghost crab squirming out from under the sand to scare a relaxing visitor. At night, however, most locals would agree that it beats the sun tenfold. The sand sparkles like crystal under the moon and the ocean, though threatening in it's shimmering waves scaling high above the ocean, the water itself is a beauty one could only hope for. Simply breathtaking. If one were to travel out along it's shore, enjoying the occasional gull watching for their chance to snack upon the passing crab or waiting for a visiting family to leave their food unattended, basking in the warm rays of the sun (given that one chooses to visit during the warmer times of the year), they may find a cave off under an overhanging cliff. That is, however, a different place.

Panties. Alfred had definitely got a short glimpse of those, and he made sure to mentally file that away before turning his attention back to his cakes. Obviously, Alfred had his attentions set on the treats in his hands the whole time, doing his best not to crush them in his group and whatnot. He had to especially focus since he was being dragged away to the beach by this shortie as well. “Haha, I should have brought plates or something. It’s okay. We can always use the ocean to wash ourselves off if we get too messy.”When they had finally arrived at the beach, Alfred made sure to kick off his shoes, idly making note of where they were at, before he dug his feet into the sand. He carefully tried to sit himself down, resisting the urge to just flop across the sand and sprawl out. He still had cakes in his hands, and while he didn’t mind sandy pants, he did not want to be eating sandy treats. “Man, this beach is pretty amazing. It’d be better with some fireworks, but the sunset might be just as nice.” He sighed. Oh, Beach Day. It was his first introduction into Nirvani, and some kid had stolen fireworks from them. Good days. Good days. He glanced over at Angela and asked with a grin. “I didn’t see you around for Beach Day though. I would have definitely remembered someone as cute as you. Were you not up for it or something?”

Angela grinned and ducked her head slightly as she sat next to Alfred. "Well, we'd only just arrived so we were a bit busy with getting settled. 'We' being myself and my father." She frowned slightly as she kicked off her strappy shoes and buried her toes in the still-warm sand. "It was supposed to be just me but my father stowed away on the boat and surprised me when we arrived. And, apparently bought the winery where I work so he has an excuse to stay." She couldn't help but roll her eyes slightly. Because, honestly. What an idiot. At least he'd named it after her cat. Sort of. But that wasn't enough to forgive him, for sure. She tilted her head slightly, giving Alfred a sidelong look, a little teasing grin playing on her lips. "Wash it off in the ocean? It's just whipped cream, it's better to just lick it off then, yeah? Though that might start up some...'fireworks' anyway," she teased, laughing as she turned her face toward the glowing sunset. "So tell me about this Beach festival--was it fun?"

How amusing. Here he was back at the beach again on yet another date. There was even going to be food involved. How ironic. Of course, he wasn't all too sure if he was the one that had to bring food. Hm. Well, it didn't hurt to be prepared. As he carried a picnic basket filled with all sorts of goodies, Alfred glanced around for any signs of the person he was supposed to meet. Hopefully, he wasn't going to get ditched. Then again, ditched or not, he was still going to have a nice day relaxing at the beach.

Murren relentlessly dragged John across the island toward the beach. She didn't give him much time to actually argue (not that he would have. She couldn't recall a time he'd ever argued with her) until they reached the sand and she released his hand long enough to pull off those strappy heels. She carefully set the chocolate and flowers in the shadow of a large piece of drift wood before turning back to John with a grin. "Well, come on then!" she told him. "We 'aven' got all day, yer know!" She paused. Well, actually they kind of did. Discounting that they both had to get back to the farm to put the animals in for the night. With that, Murren took off running toward the water, kicking up sand in her wake. Because it was definitely a race! Somehow. For reasons. And when John got close enough, she was definitely going to tackle him into the ocean as revenge for planning to take her to her own farm for their Valentine's date. Mwa ha ha!

John didn't protest – what did anyone expect? He didn't have anything really to do outside of the animals and they were probably all content in their pasture right about then. Why would he have signed up for the Valentine's Day event if he had to abandon his date before they could do anything significant? He wasn't the brightest, but he wasn't that dumb. He still didn't have the slightest clue what Murren intended for them to do at the beach, but he guessed it was supposed to be his job to think of those things, huh? He was already frowning in concentration as he tried to think of something that could interest Murren when she dropped his hand and his attention went to her pulling off her shoes and taking off.
“Uh-?” He started to question uselessly before he shrugged his shoulders and leaned down to unlace his own shoes, pulling them and his socks off to set them beside Murren's heels. He paused to look for the woman and adjust to the sand on his bare feet before hurrying off after her. It actually surprised him how far she had gotten in that short time, but he guessed it was rude to assume she would be slow because she was short. In any case, it didn't take long for him to reach her, though he did shy from the water, rolling up his pant legs as he spoke, “...I'm sorry, but you should be careful not to get your clothes wet, Murren. They're very nice,” And he would rather she didn't ruin them because they looked very nice on her too!

"Yer thin' so?" Murren asked, grasping the edges of her skirt and holding it out slightly. "Well, yer know...clothes dry if'n yer ge' them wet, yer know?" She ran to him and grabbed his hands, pulling him into the surf a bit--not too much. Just so the water would wash over his feet and cool his toes a bit. Men always had hot, sweaty feet, you know. Her uncle Bernhard had the worst time with sweaty feet. It was horrible, too--that trait passed right to all his boys and when Murren had been a girl, they used to chase her around with their great smelly socks. Terrible! The least she could do was make sure John's feet weren't smelly. Then again, he'd probably just leave with them smelling like low tide and crabs... "So, John. Ah though' tha' since we're 'ere an' we're on a date, yer should tell me abou' yersel'. When we're at work, we jus' talk abou' work bu' today et's a great time ter talk abou' somethin' else, yer know? Ah don' know much abou' yer. Coz' at work et's jus' all feedin' th' cows, and talkin' ter th' sheep, an' chasin' th' walrus out o' th' pig pen again..."

Even though they had talked about meeting up that weekend when they were at the Goddess festival, it was already well into summer when Peter packed up his astrology books into his backpack and made his way down to the beach. Maybe most people would have shrugged off an invitation to meet up with someone they had just met as just a friendly gesture, but Peter was not the type to decline an opportunity to make a new friend. It was dark by the time he left the house, and there weren't many people out and about. It was peaceful. He couldn't remember the last time he went to the beach at this time at night -- probably not since he was a teenager -- but it felt oddly nostalgic. Adulthood, he had found, lacked a lot of the excitement and sense of wonder that had marked his childhood so often, and he was thankful to be able to feel like he was about to embark on something grand once more.
He scanned the beach for Chloe, but couldn't see anyone from where he stood. Figuring that he would be easier to find if he stayed still (and the moonlight reflected off his blond hair and white shirt well enough) he crouched down to double check he had brought everything he had meant to pack. It had been clear the past week or two, he noted. How lucky for them that the sky was so cloudless. They'd probably be able to sit something, even if part of their view was blocked by the mountain.

Chloe had gotten a little delayed while packing up a bag of things for stargazing--she wanted to include a jacket and some blankets just in case--because even though it was summer, it might get a little cool at the beach with the wet air blowing in from the ocean. And she also packed a flashlight and some drinks and snacks and insect repellant, and a few other necessities. And then she packed up her telescope and headed to the beach. Which took her longer than she expected because walking around with the heavy telescope was a little harder than she expected. She really needed to build up some stamina. When Chloe finally reached the beach, Peter was already there. He stood out rather starkly in the dark so she made her way to him slowly, picking her way over the sand carefully in the dark. " Peter!" she called, waving--though he might not be able to see it. "I apologize for being late. It took a bit longer to get my things together than I expected."

It was hard to see in his bag with, you know, the lack of proper lighting and all, so Peter just stuck in his hand and felt around a bit. He had his books, check, and a light jacket in case he got chilly, plus some snacks -- it wasn't a stargazing trip unless there were snack cakes! Maybe a flashlight would have been good, he realized with a small regretful sigh, but maybe he would be lucky and they wouldn't need it. Besides, Peter had forgotten flashlights before (between himself and his step-father, the odds of remembering to bring everything probably weren't the best to begin with) and they had been fine. It just required some fumbling around in the dark.
He hadn't been crouching down for very long when someone called his name. Standing up, he glanced around before making out a shadowy figure coming towards him. "Chloe, hello!" he greeted her pleasantly, returning what he hoped was a wave and not an obscene gesture. "You're not late at all, you're just on time!" he reassured her, though he wasn't sure if that was true or not. He couldn't read his watch in the dark. He held out his hands to take her bag or the telescope for her as he felt a pang of guilt for letting her schlep everything out there by herself. "I'm sorry for making you carry all that, it must be heavy. I should have helped out, I'm sorry."

"Oh it's fine," Chloe said, handing over the bag to Peter. "It wasn't that heavy. And it was a short walk anyway. I'm fine!" She smiled at him though it was so dark, she didn't think he'd see it. But at least he'd hopefully hear it in her voice. "Thank you for the concern, though. But really, it's fine."Chloe pulled her jacket closer around her body and glanced across the white sand. "Where do you think we should set up, Peter?" she asked. It might be hard to keep the telescope steady out in the sand, but it was clearly the best place for having the widest view of the sky. "Oh! I brought a flashlight with me as well," she said, rummaging through her bag until her fingers closed around the plastic cylinder. "It would be awful to end up stepping on a crab or something equally unpleasant, in the dark."

Peter took the bag from Chloe wordlessly, not wanting to acknowledge the fact that he would have said it was relatively heavy -- but he was a skinny kid without much strength to speak of. He didn't have a whole lot of masculine pride, but even he didn't like to admit that he was weaker than a pretty average girl. He set it down in the sand next to his, hoping they wouldn't get confused and take the wrong one home."Oh! Great! I forgot to pack a flashlight, lucky you're so prepared," he remarked pleasantly. It was lucky she hadn't forgotten hers either, that would have been awkward otherwise. "Now, where to set up..." Placing his hands on his waist, he looked around for a patch of sand that seemed pretty even. Thankfully, the sky was clear and the moon bright enough that notable dips in the sand were filled in with shadow. "Over here looks pretty good," he walked a short ways away and inspected it. Clearing the patch of rocks and bits of driftwood with his foot, he cupped his eyes and looked around. "The view is a lot clearer than I thought it would be... What do you think?"

chloe flipped on the flashlight and followed after Peter, keeping it trained on the ground ahead so they could avoid potential crabs--of the crustacean variety. "I think it's perfect," Chloe said, setting down the telescope. "Could you hold this?" She held out the flashlight as she tried to wrestle the tripod into submission to get the heavy thing set up. She paused to look up at the night sky. "I think it's perfect," she told him. "We have a good view of the moon." She really should have brought some wine or something--it was the perfect setting. Then again, that gesture could have been misunderstood so it was for the best that she didn't. "It's remarkably clear tonight--though I'm afraid we might not be able to see much with my telescope. It's very old, after all. But it's good for looking at the moon. You can see quite a lot of detail."

Maybe Peter should have been more concerned with how unmanly he was being. Weren't guys supposed to be the ones to set up the equipment, bring the refreshments, carry the heavy bags? He had never been very masculine -- his friends and family all classified him as more "feminine" -- but he probably had an obligation to be at least a little bit chivalrous. He took the flashlight almost dumbly before realizing where he was and what he was doing. "Oh, let me help," he added quickly as he tucked the flashlight under one arm (making it a lot harder to position, but he definitely tried) and helped Chloe stabilize the tripod.
"I wonder if we can see a planet somewhere?" he questioned once everything seemed to be all set up, cupping his eyes with his hands as if that helped him see any better. "When I was a kid I always wanted to see Neptune up close. I liked how blue it was." On second thought, wasn't Neptune the most feminine of the planet choices too? He really wasn't doing a very good job of embracing his gender. "What about you, Chloe? Did you have a favorite planet as a kid? Pluto counts," he laughed. "Oh, and are you hungry? I brought snacks."

"I've always been fond of Saturn," Chloe said, leaning over to check the eyepiece and start focusing the telescope, once the tripod was stable. "It's fascinating how strange it looks in pictures--it's so perfect and beautiful hanging in the black of space that it's always difficult to believe it's really up there. It is truly amazing to think about it."She laughed a little at his reference to Pluto and its relatively newly decided lack of planetary status. "Pluto is just an object of pity these days, I fear."Chloe looked up from the telescope and smiled at Peter. Now that her eyes were adjusting to the dark a bit better, she could see him pretty clearly in the moonlight--especially since it was nearly full. "I'm not hungry just yet, but I also brought a few snacks. I guess we're on the same wavelength. Also, let me know if you get cold--there are a few hand warmers in my bag."
