At the corner of town square and beside the fountain, the Sonata City Police Department sits proudly. It's pretty small compared to what people from any major city would be used to, with only one cell and a few officers to keep the town in order. The first thing one would see upon entering the department is one large room with a pair of metal desks for the pair of officers to use for paperwork and things of that like. Just behind that, in clear view of anyone inside the station, is the sole cell, large enough to fit maybe three people comfortably before becoming too cramped. Of course, why would they need anything more with a population as small as this? Any major criminals would only be stuck in there for a week or so before being shipped off to a more secure prison. To the left from there is an office for the sheriff to use while s/he is working from the station instead of the government offices. Beyond that door is another room, sometimes used as an interrogation room, other times for just the coffee maker kept in there for any hardworking officer's convenience. On-Duty

Scritch. Scratch. Anneliese skimmed, scrawled, and stamped through the paperwork at her desk without a care. Of course, every now and then, she had to take a break to stretch out her sluggish limbs. That was fine by her since she at least got paid for doing nothing. The less effort she had to put into things, the better. The languid pace that she set forth was rather relaxing. Not to mention, there was a coffee maker here. Yeap. She was pretty comfortable around here. It was even to the point where she started stuffing snacks and whatnot into all sorts of nooks and crannies. After all, why waste the effort of walking to grab a bite when she could just pull out some chips from some random desk. Speaking of which, she was really craving for a cup of joe, but that meant she had to get off her chair. With a small sigh at the effort she'd have to make, she dragged herself over to where the coffee maker was and began preparing up a new brew.

Romane had just returned from the government offices, notebook in hand as she flipped through the notes she had made that morning on her new officer. They didn't get new police officers very often and, though it would probably be best to trust her superiors in their evaluation of each new recruit, Romane never did that. She couldn't trust anyone to be able to 'evaluate' a proper officer when there had been so many lax, indecent, and otherwise unacceptable officers she had seen in her days on the field. It was why she had stayed on despite there being so many recommendations she retire, but those were mere speculations that were questionable and, not to mention, suspicious at best. She narrowed tired eyes at the memory and slammed the notebook shut, tucking it under her arm as she opened the door to her station in one movement. The main room was empty, but the smell of fresh coffee told her there were more than just her there. Good. Both of her officers should have already been here, after all. She went into the next room, but was disappointed to see only one - the new officer on staff.
“...Is..” She paused a moment, frowning harder as she continued, “..Fate unaccounted for?” Julian's new surname disturbed her, but she would have to quickly get over it if she wanted to keep with formalities. She stepped further into the room and stood with her arms behind her back as she looked the woman up and down – well, as up and down as one could from someone who was seated. Doing paperwork, it seemed. That was.. well, surprisingly pleasing. “Officer Dahl, correct?”

-Julian Fate-
Julian wasn't really late, if you counted three minutes late. Which by Romane Bissette's standards was scandalous. The man would be lying if he didn't do it on purpose sometimes just to test her non-existent patience. But that would be a childish thing to do at work, she was not only his guardian, she was his boss. "Fate is very much accounted for, Bissette." Though it would seem childish would be the way to go about this with him anyways. He wasn't one to behave like this, especially not with Romane. But as a policeman now, and he did find it hard to adjust to have her calling him Fate. There was something in the way that she said it, that just made him reply that way. Not the smartest choice, but a choice nontheless. Julian was just entering the station when he had caught Romane's words, replying himself. His original plan had consisted of getting there on time and maybe help out the new kid with Romane. Well if helping out was telling her to look busy... that was about as much as he could offer. He was too indifferent on her many variations that he just went with them, for the most part of course. In any case, the male would move about the room to his desk before Romane told him otherwise. There was dreaded paperwork to do anyways.

Walking through those doors was one of the hardest things Chun Fei had ever had to do in her entire life. She had begged, pleaded, cried, but neither of her siblings wanted to come with her to the police station. Yue argued that their mother would be back at any moment, like a cat that goes out one day and then reappears a week later as if nothing had happened. Jian guessed that maybe she got locked in the clinic cabinets again, which was a possibility, but he didn't want to go with her because he was in the middle of a book and couldn't be bothered. That left Chun Fei to alert the authorities. She had been an absolute wreck all morning, as she remembered how intimidating Romane Murrow was, from encounters with Mimi at school, and those times Judith had brought the sheriff in to deal with troublemakers. It made her nervous, having to face that woman alone.
She was still terrified when she tentatively opened the door to the police station and peered in. Romane was there, sure enough, but was also with two blonde officers. Chun Fei cowered behind the door, taking deep breaths, one two, one two, in out, one two. When she finally stepped inside the building, closely the door gently behind her, she wasn't quite brave, but at least her head wasn't spinning anymore. "E-excuse m-m-me?" she squeaked, staring at the adults with wide eyes. "I need help! ...If... if that's okay..."

Oh, so Fate was here. And calling her by the wrong surname, no less. Romane's eyes narrowed for a moment as she felt the impulse to punish him for such blatant disrespect, but she couldn't to that. Not to Rachel's son. She shut her eyes and took in a breath, letting it out through grit teeth, but managing to still exude at least some calm. She reopened her eyes and said in an aggravated, but not entirely furious tone, “I will remind you that you will address me as Sheriff Murrow, officer.” She would have gone on more – perhaps questioning why he had insisted on calling her by her maiden name and if he had any problems with his stepfather that they should address to maintain the appropriate amount of compatibility among the family, but the door had opened.
She walked into the main room without another word to the others and looked at one Chun Fei Li – one of two daughters from the secretary at the clinic, but certainly not the more favorable of the two. Chun Fei was normal, had a history of disrespect, but had not done anything that would warrant the police's special attention. She had looked to be on the receiving end of someone who did, actually, so the woman didn't hesitate to approach after the quick identification. “Ms. Li. Do you require assistance?” She was already sitting behind one of the steel desks to get started on preparing the paperwork for whatever the girl had to report.

As she was pouring out coffee into her cup, she glanced up to see her boss asking for someone. Ah. Fate? Anneliese didn't recognize that name, but then again, she was new. Not only that, she really didn't give a s**t either. Either way, she already had the answer. She had been the only one around in the office as far as she could see, and so that was a definite no. She was about to shake her head, but it seemed like she didn't even need to go through that effort since this Fate person already arrived. She glanced between the two as she sipped her coffee. There seemed to be some tension between them, but hey, this wasn't any of her business. If they wanted to shoot each other's brains out, that was their problem. Not. Hers. If they did drag her into this mess, then she'd have to set them on fire. That was all. It didn't seem necessary since a distressed girl came in to take up the attention. Sheriff Murrow had it all under control though, so that meant that the coffee machine was all hers. Oh, right. She should at least offer. "Coffee?" She asked her apparent coworker [ Julian].

Chun Fei leaned against the police station door, feeling like the breath had literally been intimidated out of her as the red-headed sheriff addressed her. She knew her name, which had shocked her initially, even though there weren't really that many Chinese people on the island, so it wasn't that hard to guess her surname. Still, she didn't like the way Romane looked at her, so unaccommodating. The teenager sucked in her bottom lip as she looked at the desk Romane had just taken as her own, then to Romane, than to the desk again. "Should I...?" she squeaked, but then decided that maybe it was better to apologize for jumping to conclusions than to ask permission, so she stepped hesitantly over to the desk, keeping her head ducked just in case. Her hands were almost shaking, this was one of the first times she ever had to deal with an adult, a figure of authority no less, without someone there to rely on. She didn't like doing this alone, not one bit.
She stopped on the other side of the desk, staring down at it and Romane with balled fists. She almost wanted to apologize, but for what she wasn't sure. Maybe it would be better to just explain. "Um..." she began, having to wrack her brain for the reason she was there. "T-The other morning... Um.... I woke up? And... My mother wasn't there..." Her voice was trembling, she was so nervous. Oh, where was Jian to hold her hand? "I think... I think she's been kidnapped? Maybe?" She finished the sentence as if it were a question, as if asking Romane if she was wrong for thinking so.

-Julian Fate-
Now that was completely expected of Romane, tho Julian expected something... harsher. Regardless, they were both there with their new officer, and a rather upset teenager. Since Romane headed in that direction first, Julian tended to his co-worker. "Sure." he nodded leaning slightly on the desk beside him to glance in the situation's direction. The young man guessed it was probably something minor, they really had any real problems here. As crazy as the island was, nothing completely horrible had happened in the last few years. In a way, Julian leaned on that to keep his days calm. However when the girl mentioned a possible kidnapping he had to raise his eyebrow at that. "Isn't it a little too early to call it that?" commented the blond in a low tone. He was skeptical... but then again would they have a neurotic teenager at their hands if it wasn't?

Kidnapped? Romane's perpetual frown grew as those words registered in her mind, going over the various previous instances in which a kidnapping took place, her own included. Though, she would rather not go too deep into that, even if it was just her own thought, so she forced herself to react as any law enforcer should. She cleared her throat, knitted her fingers together, and stared at the teenager for a moment to assure herself she wasn't lying. Chun Fei seemed to be honestly shaken and, though she was definitely the weakest of the family, she wasn't exactly known to make false reports, certainly not of this nature. But, her mother.. Romane wasn't very on the ball in regards to local gossip, but she knew that the clinic's secretary often had an erratic schedule at work to where even her employer had no clue where she went. This may very well be a false alarm, but.. it wasn't worth risking it.
"That is irrelevant, Officer Fate." She stated as she stood up, handing the paperwork to him before turning to the teenager. "Ms. Li, you will remain here with Officer Fate and divulge every detail that may aid in your mother's immediate return." She looked to Julian next, "Fate, you will fill out the necessary paperwork, accompany Ms. Li home, and proceed to investigate from there. You will alert me if Mei Hwa Li is located immediately." Now, for the last officer, "Officer Dahl, you will accompany me to begin searching the town." She would have preferred to work with Julian, to be honest, but she hardly knew the new transfer. She couldn't trust a young teenager in her hands when she could very well be the perpetrator. "I expect us all to return here to log any findings before the day is up. Dismissed." With that, she left the station with expectations that Anneliese would follow her. She had better, at least.

The walk to the station wasn't really that long - around half an hour of it, give or take some minutes on potential distractions. But, Xochiquetzal was dedicated in a perceived crisis, so she made little talk even after the girl had asked her a question, but that was mostly due to the oddity in it. She considered it for most of the journey and only answered once the station was in sight.
"...It is considered unwise for an immortal to reveal their name, even among fellow of our kind. For what.. purposes would you require it?" She glanced at her in curiosity just before opening the door; wouldn't the spirit already know that? Unless she was especially young... She could have been born yesterday, for all she knew, but what a lucky spirit it would be if that were the case! Meeting a Goddess just after birth... Oh, but cruel as well with her siblings abducted. She must never have had a chance to meet with them. "...I will bring you to your brothers and sisters, spirit, do not worry." She stated before finally opening the door for them - ah.
It seemed someone was already making the report. Xochiquetzal paused a moment to allow the spirit inside before stepping towards the occupied desk. She looked to the young girl (Chun Fei) and set a hand on her shoulder, "It is.. alright, your Goddess has arrived." She turned to the blond officer (Julian), "Have you.. already heard? Of the clouds' disappearances..?"

"Well, it would help to know what to call you. Um..." Angela didn't know how to break to to the woman that she wasn't, well, immortal. Or a cloud. Though the last part should have been self evident, really. "And I already said I don't have siblings. It's just me and my father and he's...well...around somewhere. I haven't seen him today but I'm fairly certain he's alright." When they reached the station and the other woman started telling people about the missing clouds, Angela positioned herself just behind her and tried to motion for help because she was certain this people had dealt with the mad lady before and probably knew where she lived. And Angela really wanted them to catch on to the fact that she was having an episode of whatever her condition was. Then again, that was also probably evident from the whole 'missing clouds' thing. And the fact she'd just called herself a goddess. Angela just hoped they noticed her motioning frantically (but as subtly as she could), and realized she was just a hapless bystander who'd been pulled into this whole thing against her will.

...Well, that was fast. Chun Fei had expected that she would have to sit there as this scary woman threw question upon question at her, pulling her for every detail until she began to doubt her own memory and sense of reality. But that didn't happen. Romane had believed her immediately, and while it startled Chun Fei, it was also pretty satisfying to see results so quickly. But mostly she was just startled, and a little confused, especially when Romane left. The teenage girl peeked at this Officer Fate, or at least who she assumed was Officer Fate, since he was the only one left at that point. He didn't look as scary, but she still hadn't relaxed quite yet.
That's when the door opened, and that girl appeared, and touched her. Chun Fei flinched away from Xochi. She knew this girl, Jian was always talking about her, they had been in class for a short while, and she was weird. Chun Fei was always aware of the weirdos, so she could avoid them. "W-what are you talking about?" she looked up at Xochi and the white-haired woman with her, with wide eyes. "Clouds? My mom's missing, not the clouds..." Xochi kind of scared her, but she was still just a girl, and Chun Fei felt a little more confident around girls. Besides, she didn't want her to distract Officer Fate from finding her mother.

As Chun Fei flinched, Xochiquetzal mimicked her with a hiss – she was rejecting her? Did she reject her Goddess as well? How infuriating! But, before that irritation could cause her to so much as scowl, she felt herself get a little dizzy and maybe just a.. extraordinarily.. drowsy... She brought a hand to her head and staggered around the desk to where Julian sat with aims to take a short nap in his lap because that would be far more comfortable than standing or sleeping on Chun Fei, the blasphemer. But, rather than crawl onto gracefully, she simply toppled over him and sent both falling to the ground.
The officer must have been tired as well, however, as, when Xochiquetzal roused, she saw he was sound asleep. Ah. She supposed that meant they didn't have the police to help them, seeing as the rest of the station was empty outside of one stubborn follower of the Goddess. She slowly rose to her feet and brushed herself off, glancing coldly at Chun Fei. “...We should depart, spirit, before Her wrath comes for the blasphemer.” She walked past the teenager and back out the door, pausing briefly to glance at the cloud, “The.. fairies, Her children, they will know where.. the lost can be found.” She added before allowing the door to shut behind her and heading off to the closest shrine to the police station.

No! No, no, no! This was bad. Angela watched with a sort of disquieted horror as the other woman flailed around and sort of knocked out the officer on duty. It sort of looked like an accident (sort of) but that was definitely not a good thing. She sighed as Xochi shrugged it off and left. "Oh bother." Pulling a card for the winery out of her bag, Angela handed it over to Chun Fei. "First, I am not with that mad person. Well, I am. I'm sort of...following her. Because I think she's a bit off and I don't want her to hurt herself but I've no bloody idea who she is. When the officer wakes up, just give him this and tell him I'm following the woman to keep an eye on her and that he needs to contact whoever it is that looks after her because I can't imagine they let her walk around unsupervised. God only knows what she's done with her caretakers." She started out the door after Xochi, waving to Chun Fei. "You might want to find the poor man some ice!" she called on her way out the door.
