Oh how her heart ached as she walked through a now silent woodland. It had been so vibrant, so magical when she'd first set eyes upon it, and perhaps it could have even become a home under different circumstances. Though in her months here the peace quietly eroded and the danger slowly made itself known. The charm the God had placed on this wood had lost it's potency the longer it'd laid untouched and humans were free to wander as they liked. Feeling her heart give another twist at the memory of her arrival, the small unicorn let out a shaky breath and shook her head to clear it from her mind. She had made a promise to the Great Mother to forget that stallion, and it would do no good to bring up such thoughts up now. Slowing her pace when she arrived at the long stretch of grassland that bordered the forest she'd inhabited, Avari felt the familiar grip of fear take hold.

Closing her eyes for a moment, she drew in another breath and let it out slowly as she lifted her head to gaze at the moon and stars. She knew her destination, she knew the way to get there. She just needed the resolve to do it. Taking one last look behind her at her past she whispered a quiet farewell in her mind to who she was leaving, though felt he would not receive it and took off out of the trees and into the grass at a quick run. Heart already hammering in mild panic at the wide open space and little cover to hide in, her ears quickly pinned back to her head as she kept up her pace. All the while her eyes scanned the land around her for any sign of humans roaming in the night as she blinked away tears that threatened to build up and spill over. "Great Mother guide me safely." She whispered to the chilled air as she glanced ahead at the long way she had to go. It had taken her hours to arrive the first time.

Another visit coming to a close as the day turned into night. He took off from the quiet pasture that he had spent some time in when visiting his father while he spent time with his bonded. Taw didn't always spend time near the castle with his bonded the Duke but when he did, Kato felt like he needed to visit. On the plus side, he liked visiting the city and seeing all he could see there, it was so different from the rest of the Isle. Afraid he had stayed too late, he flew quickly through the night, eager to get home to his dear mother. His siblings always made fun of him for being a momma's boy, but he didn't mind. Flying over one of the great plains, he noticed a white speck far below streaking across the open land. Curious, he altered his course and descended, flying just behind her. Tucking his wings in close, he dove, the cool night air making his hair flow behind him. When he was within landing range, he let his wings back out, gliding over the plain still descending until he was running. The male pulled his wings in again and tucked them neatly against his body as he ran after the mare. "Hey! Wait up! Are you okay?" He shouted at the mare as he tried to catch up and match her swift hooves. The white female looked almost frantic, but if she needed help, why was she running away from the castle where she could get help from the king? Maybe she was part of the six and did something in the city. Either way, he figured it was his duty to find out.

Hearing the harsh beating of wings in the air above her, Avari felt a sudden chill overtake her small frame. Could someone have really spotted her so soon? She had only just left! Ears quickly twisting in it's direction, she soon followed their lead with her dark blue gaze just in time to see the bright mass of another land close behind her. Trying to hold the panic in, she continued to keep her quick pace up as she took a moment to glance around to make sure this stallion had indeed landed alone. Giving a light shake of her head when he called out to her, she felt a quiet whine of fear leave her suddenly. "Please leave me alone." She begged in a shaky voice, unsure if she'd even spoken loud enough for him to even hear her. Though at this moment she hardly thought too much on it. She could think of no reason someone would try stop her, but even when she kept up the run her pace slowed a bit. Hearing the hooves of another hammering behind her felt too much like the hunters giving chase on their horses, and at this moment she couldn't deal with sudden memory threatening to overwhelm her. Slowing again she allowed her hooves to come to a brisk walk and eventually full stop as she turned to face her follower.

Ears pulled back as she stared him down, she felt the horn on her head begin to glow softly in order to comfort and calm her rampant mind. She had begun to feel prisoner in that small glade, was it not just a feeling? Had someone really been watching her to make sure she'd stayed where she was left? Feeling her limbs shake at the ideas, she shifted her weight to try and cover it and keep it under control. It was a silly idea, but it was all she could come up with. "Why are you following me? What do you want?" She demanded, though her voice was low and quiet. Eyes holding steady on his for a moment, she soon felt herself looking around once more as she dug her hoof nervously at the grass beneath her. Had he brought people with him? Were they watching from the nearby forest? Tail tucked between her hind legs she snorted softly as her search came up empty. No one was making any move towards their location, maybe he really was alone. Taking this moment she looked over the male, what strange features he had. She had never seen another like him.

Kato slowed when the mare did and came to a stop making sure to keep his distance. He noticed now that she had a horn, could she be part of that breed he had heard a little about? He dipped his head in apology. It seemed his presence startled her more than he thought it would. Contemplating over what he could say to calm her, his mind came up blank. There was panic in her eyes, along with fear. Although she shifted her position he still noticed the slight trembling. His tail swished softly as he thought of how to proceed."I'm sorry Miss, I did not mean to startle you. You were just running away from the castle in such haste that I thought I should investigate. My name is Kato Taronyo, I was flying home when I saw you dashing across the plain. I mean you no harm, on the contrary, are you okay? Please, if there is some way I can be of assistance, please let me know." Her ears were pulled back, did she really perceive him as that big of a threat? His siblings had always made fun of his girlish color and gorgeous purple locks that he didn't see himself as intimidating as he was. Likely, she hadn't seen one of his species, his family were the only ones that he knew of.

The mare looked all around, as if expecting someone to jump out of the shadows. She looked really scared, was it just a ploy though? He mentally shook his head, no, this mare seemed sincerely freaked out. Wait...what was that? Her horn was glowing! Both sets of eyes widened, she must be part of that unicorn breed he had heard a little bit about. There were some perks to going to the city, you got to hear all kinds of gossip and tales. Word was that the poor race inhabited the mountains of the north but were found by dwellers of the land below who took fancy of their hides and began killing them. What an atrocity. Kato couldn't even begin to imagine what that might be like. Could someone in the city have tried to hurt her? Maybe among the thieves there were some poachers? He would have to bring this up with his father who could talk to the Duke who might be able to investigate more.
"I'm alone, Ma'am, there's no one else with me.He confirmed for her.

The quiet of the night unnerved her, in the middle of the plain there were no animals running around chatting, and she also lost her first call for danger. Ears laying back, she felt her brows pull together in confusion as the stallion spoke. He seemed polite enough, but a part of her couldn't help but worry at this sudden kindness. Shifting her weight again she couldn't help but feel a shiver of fear run up her spine at the mention of that place. "The castle?" She questioned suddenly as her eyes glanced back in the general direction the city rested. What a horrible place, how anything could be happy living there baffled her to no end. "It's any Azrein who doesn't flee that place should be investigated Sir Taronyo. Not I." The small mare commented, her voice harsh as she thought of the horrible man that live and rule inside those walls. Eyes flashing in brief anger at the thought of his promises she took a step back when her full attention fell upon him once more. Was he one of those brain-washed Azrein too? Forever linked with a human soul to slowly corrupt his spirit? Following her step back with another she shook her head and sighed. "I just want to get as far away from that horrible place.. I need to.. I.." Words falling off into silence she pawed at the ground out of habit. "I just need to get out of the open." Suddenly turning as soon as she spoke she began heading for the nearest cover she could find at a quick walk. She could talk there.. That is if he decided to follow, it was his choice after all

She seemed so jumpy, especially when she started talking about the castle. This only furthered his thought process about someone in the city trying to hurt her. She seemed polite, but he must still be on his guard, once they got into the cover of the trees she could turn on him. Kato kept his distance from the mare but followed her towards trees. Hesitating for a fraction of a second, he stepped under the bows and into the foliage. His subconscious mind yelled at him, screamed at him to get back out under the open sky. He and his kind were meant to be in the sky, he hated being under cover of anything, it made him feel so trapped. Kato couldn't resist trying to figure out what was bothering the mare. "Did someone hurt you there ma'am? Just speak a name and I will right however they had wronged you." The stallion's tail swished and his wings twitched showing his nerves of being enclosed. But he told himself he would do what he could for this mare, to right however someone had wronged her, or vice versa.

Tail flicking when she heard his hooves match her own, Avari made no move to glance back at him on their brisk walk. Instead she seemed fully focused on making sure there was no one in front of her, and when she got to the tree line she hesitated for just a moment. Head lowering she took the time to scents of the air around her, making sure that the wind carried no suspicious scents along with it. Satisfied everything was okay for the moment she moved a foot or two into the must needed cover. The comfort the shadows brought her was almost immediate, though they were still too close to humans for her to feel at ease having cover on all sides was a great help. Turning to look at the stallion she offered him the smallest of smiles for a moment when he spoke. "Thank you, but I doubt you could harm who it is that's wronged me. Though it is very kind of you to offer." Horn having stopped glowing as her distress lessoned, Avari still felt the urge to move. Walking a few steps around to his left she paused mid-step and glanced over at him.

"I must say.. I am.." Pausing for a moment she set her hoof down and moved just a bit closer, her eyes flicking to look at the light twitches of his body. Was he not comforted by the trees as well? How strange. "..Incredibly confused why you would stop for a random Azrein" She finally finished, her head tilting to the right as she spoke to show her curiosity. Out in the open she had only regarded him quickly, her eyes only taking in the small parts she needed to know if him. Like anything he could hurt her with. Though here under the cover of night and embrace of the forest she was able to look him over much better, yet her ears continued to listen out for any activity in the woods that her eyes could not catch at the moment. She had never met many Azrein with wings when she traveled with her family, yet out here she had managed to meet two out of the few Azrein she had seen. How lucky they were.. It was much harder for the grip of man to follow an Azrein into the sky. It was only on close examination that she noticed his eyes.. His eyes! She gasped, her own eyes going wide as she tilted her head down and her brows pulled together in confusion. he had two pairs!

Kato looked around nervously, as if checking to make sure she didn't have any thugs hidden in the forest. He tightened his wing muscles so they would quit twitching, he mustn't appear weak right now, of course he wasn't. He too checked his surroundings to make sure he was safe. Why did she think it so odd that one would stop and try to help someone? She must surely be in distress. "I was always taught to help those in need, and bring those that intend harm to anyone to justice. I stopped because it was very odd to see someone running away from the castle at this time of night. I was going to make sure you had not caused trouble in the city or that you were okay. Which of the two is the cause of why you are running is still unclear to me. It is in my nature to help those that need it." He said somewhat plainly. This one was one that had allied himself with the king, he would do what he could to protect those in his kingdom and bring all wrong-doers to justice. As silly as that sounded that was Kato to a 'T'.

Completely focused on his strange features, it had taken the small unicorn a minute to comprehend exactly what he was saying. "Caused trouble in the city?" Ears folding back at the statement he had made she frowned as she retreated a few steps from him. He had flown in from the direction of the humans after all, how could she think he wasn't one of the Azrein who sought the humans embrace and attentions. Curiosity dying in her eyes, she covered it up with an emotionless look and turned away from him to look back in the direction of the great field. "I assure you I would never set hoof near that horrible place. Rest easy in knowing I have not harmed that place and it's.. King in any way." Scowling as she mentioned that man, Avari felt her tail lashing in annoyance behind her. She had never met another who made so many promises only to fall flat, though perhaps that was normal for their kind. Even this random Azrein showed more care in his first meeting then they had in a years time. "It's late." She commented as she began to walk back towards the edge of the woods. "I'm sure your human is expecting you back. You said you were heading home correct?" After all she had no time to sit and chat, she had a long distance to cover and she wanted to be as far away from this place and out of the open by morning. And she would do it even if it meant running all night without rest.

Kato was taken aback by her sudden change. She went from peaceful to a small threat in an instant. He took a step back at her change and cocked his head to the left. What an interesting azrein she was. But she seemed like she could be a threat to the king, why did she harbor such feelings of hate towards the city and the king? There had to be some reason unknown to him that would give her such reason to have such an attitude. His brow furrowed, she didn't seem like an evil azrein, but he still couldn't seem to pin down where she fit into the world. "I'm sorry Miss but I think you misunderstood me. I do not have a bonded and don't know that I will ever have one. My father is bonded, though, and the man seems nice enough. I don't know him well enough personally to have a good opinion of him. I was going home to my mother. She gets lonely when my father is visiting his human. Miss? I do not understand your intentions. Are you in trouble somehow?"

He just followed her back towards the edge of the woods. Kato figured that she was trying to get rid of him and thats the exact reason why he followed her. The male was happy to be leaving the forest though. Deciding that even if this mare tried to get rid of him, he could always follow her above. Yes, that would work quite nicely. He could keep an eye on her up there and fly high enough that she wouldn't even notice him, back up plan established, he thought.
