Inside the main hall of the resort's convention center, Whorl stood on a podium shuffling through his speech cards, a few anxious looking staff members trying find the right distance to stand away from him without being obvious about trying to stay out of his immediate vicinity. More importantly, there were catering tables to the side, heavy with various hors devours and refreshing, non-alcoholic drinks.
Once all the tour groups finally shuffled in, Whorl's head whipped up, startling one staff member into dropping a cupcake onto their pristine uniform. The park owner gave them a stern frown but was smiling again as he turned to those gathered. He tapped the mic and cleared his throat, "Fourty years ago I had everything any man could want in this world, money, power, and the opportunity to gain more whenever I desired." He sighed, "I say this not to brag, but to explain, that despite a life of incredible privilege, or perhaps because of it, the world remained cold and empty to me. For a time I thought I might find what I sought within the world's various religions," he gave a small chagrined look and scratched his beard, "...alas, it was not to be. For I eventually found myself drawn not to faith, not to redemption, and definitely not to an eternal life in the after-life," Whorl smiled gently at his audience and continued, "...but miracles.Magic."
The smile grew wry, "Some of you have likely heard of my various efforts over the years, the constant seeking and debunking of that which could be considered magic or supernatural. That which could fill this world with more than just money and politics. It was a long, and often frustrating journey, but now I can finally tell you, there is magic in this world. In this park." Grinning he gestured to Cecil, "What our labs have done here, is harness a power that some of you are fairly familiar with. As writers and artists, there are those of you who well understand how the power of human imagination can yield tangible results, that imagination is capable of creating some truly wondrous things. Now just hold that thought and take it a bit further. What if your imagination could actually spawn new, literal life capable of bending and breaking whatever laws that science and physics has laid down?"
Practically beaming, Whorl spread his arms wide, "What you'd end up with is Wonder Park! You caught just the merest glimpse of what the island holds in-store for you! You'll have a chance to touch and interact with the fantastic creatures of myth and legend! No animatronics! No puppets! These are not creatures altered through surgeries or any other means! You'll see living dreams and the occasional nightmare within this park, and you'll find magic!"
Stepping down from the podium, Whorl grabbed Cecil's hand and shook it aggressively, "It's happening, by god, it's really happening." Giving the lab head a firm slap on the back, he moved into the audience to mingle and answer any questions.

Rin had arrived in a timely fashion, having left from the docks early was enough. Since leaving the docks after her review of her assignment she'd managed to come across a small badge of sorts for her arm. On it was an insignia similar to those that the group she'd be... watching over would have. Hopefully it was enough of a hint for the group on who they should follow. She'd managed to gather a list herself as well. Just a few names.
Important jargon she'd need to get this show rolling. If she was to watch and guide a group through the park, she'd ensure the entire group came, left, and managed not to get eaten by a dragon. Hopefully. The handlers had fed them that morning, right? Tsk, hopefully. Green eyes traveled along to find the fellow handler in charge of things, seeing as he should have been there already. She sidled over, not bothering with the festivities of food and such since she was on the clock. "You lot did feed the beasts properly this morning, right?" Because with the speech given, if they weren't fed, things would go south as soon as someone tried to pet one. Then again, who'd let something like that slip through the cracks with it being such an important day? "Or is there a pen we should steer our lot away from?" She added as a second thought before holding up an arm band that matched her's for him. "Here. And a list of names if you didn't get it earlier." She'd left the docks for a reason. Assignments would be carried out properly.
And fully.
And if all luck was with them, things would be smooth. She'd just need to gather her group up and make this work with the least disasters possible. Because working with live beasts with strangers who didn't know how to handle them was so much fun. So much fun she felt like she'd end up being instructed to put one down by the end of the day. A low sigh and she glanced over as the speech went out, watching as the guests were to wander in.
Well, things were about to get interesting. "Our batch is among them. Smiles out I guess." Fun they said. Sell. Fun. The mental image of some of the larger beasts on bad days came to mind briefly before a forced smile found it's way to her face. Right. This was going to be so much fun. Well, hopefully all fingers made it back attached. If they didn't their heads were on sticks.

Hey, going to assume he eventually got there so they can discuss the chaos they're about to lead people through.
General hello to our whole group. I'm sure they'll be seeking you out shortly for the prompt. Just a general hello and such.
While the old coot known as Whorl was going on about being rich and stuff about magic, Barry stood in the back only half listening to what he was saying. It was the standard "Hi I'm mega rich and now I've opened this park", he had more important things to worry about. His eyes scanned the crowd assembled, trying to pick out who he would be in his group. The handler also ignored the food, as he didn't trust his stomach this morning to hold anything substantial down.
As Rin approached him, Barry gave a friendly smile her way, her question answered with a nod of his head. "Every one of them has been fed, I've cleaned out the enclosures, I've checked them for any anger issues. Twice even. Though I wouldn't recommend letting anyone get close to the larger ones. I wouldn't doubt them trying to play up, and it's gonna be one pain in the a** to calm them down. And I don't just mean the dragons." He then looked at the list of names and the armband, his mind just realizing he had forgotten them both. He appeared only too relieved to receive them. "Thanks a bunch, Rin I believe?" He pointed to himself. "Barry Warren. Though you probably have my name down somewhere. Glad I've got you covering my back." It was always nice to have someone well organized. Not that he wasn't but, things slipped his mind.
Soon the speech was over, and he scanned the crowd once again. "Yup, lets put on a show for them without being sued." He stepped forward and shouted to the group, waving his arm around to get their attention. "Everyone in the phoenix group over here with me! All phoenix group members this way!"

Okay BD He's so totally ready for everything to fall apart

Ian was really excelling at the whole gawking thing, eagerly taking in the park as he was herded through to the convention centre with the other. He'd been sad to give up his phone - when your livelihood was primarily psychic hotlines it was always a bit of a wrench. He'd been hoping to help old Mrs White with her issues with her cat Ginger. Ginger was having some issues with the colour of the furniture in the house and the woman was having the entire place redecorated. She was always so generous.
He hovered to the catering tables as priority and nabbed himself a few snacks, who knew how long he'd be there after all?
His peers were just a little strange he was starting to notice and the psychic vibrations in the room with its milling crowds were erratic at best. He was almost relieved when the leader of the place, a Mr Whorl stepped up to speak. The things he spoke of were fascinating, it looked like finally science had caught up with magic itself. He was keen to set his psychic abilities against these supposed creatures, to really test out if they were real - after all if they weren't real he wouldn't be able to tell what they were thinking, right?
Guest Name: Ian Weiman Guest Profession: Pet Psychic Physical Description: Tall, blond and lanky in a loose pink shirt that looks like a reject from a 70s glam rock band, left open to reveal a chest bristling with hair, over which is sprawled an absurd number of charm necklaces, gems, wardstone pendants and all other manner of knicknacks. On his wrists he wears what has to be hundreds of jangling gold, silver and what he assures are unobtainium bracelets and every dramatic wave of his hands is heralded by a clatter of metal. His hair is a halo of backcombed disaster and his eyes are remarkably pale blue. His mannerisms are reminiscent of a slightly mad parrot.

Zane had taken a few steps towards the coffee dispenser at the reception table, but backtracked slowly as he remembered what his doctor told him about managing his caffeine intake.
The architect paid rather poor attention to the speech given by Mr. Whorl after a few words in; it sounded exactly like what his clients in Abu Dhabi would dramatically and unabashedly tell him. People with too much money tended to suffer from terrible fate of being privileged.
His interest would peak at the mention of no animatronics, or puppets, or surgeries… but died down as soon as the word magic was uttered yet again. Yes, there is a certain charm and fantasy that theme parks offered, the magical experience was something the architect believed in. Mr. Whorl however, simply sounded deluded, or maybe he was still stuck at a 5 year old’s mentality. Zane would however, remind himself at that moment to stop judging his client. It was his job to fulfill Mr. Whorl’s fantasy and make the magic happen with the design of the theme park.
We could start off with a better narrative for it, really, he mused.
Having separated from his company after disembarking the ship, the trouble of searching for them again was soon eased with the group’s tour guide calling for their attention. Zane approached the pair and nodded as a greeting, flipping his nametag over to reveal the phoenix sticker on the back. No questions for now until they get to the theme park itself.

There were already a few brief short notes on her notepad, consisting mainly of bullet points of "impressive animatronics" and the details of what she had managed to capture a glimpse of. Not very much, but Chikako certainly hoped that more information would be gleaned from Mr Whorl.
It certainly was a long drawn-out introduction, some of which didn't really make much sense, but she figured it was just his way of embellishing things to sound impressive. That was, until he mentioned magic. Eyes narrowed, pen poised over the paper, unsure of whether or not to write this down. Certainly, Chikako had done her research before arriving, and knew of Mr Whorl's interest in the supernatural. Perhaps that was why he was attempting to fulfill his dream by making life-like animatronics and put them within a theme park.
With a sigh, Chikako scribbled down the word magic, albeit in quotation marks, and of course, imagination. As a concept, it wasn't a really hard one to get behind; children would certainly be blown away by such a fantastical setting. There was something about Mr Whorl's tone that seemed a touch too enthusiastic, and it unnerved her slightly.
She hadn't wandered far from Ciaran after they had gotten off the boat, and she nudged him slightly with an elbow. "So, what do you think? Mr Whorl certainly sounds... fervent about his concept for Wonder Park." As the question left her lips, a man's voice rang through the air, calling out for the Phoenix group. "...I suppose that means we should join our group." Not before she listened to what Ciaran had to say. Perhaps the rest of their group members had other opinions of the matter, and it would be good to gather other perspectives, but right now, she thought it best to put the opinion of a fellow 'colleague' of sorts as a priority.
Guest Name: Chikako Fukui Guest Profession: Investor Physical Description: Chikako has blond, wavy hair, coupled with blue eyes (though actually just colored contacts). She stands at a height of 169cm, although she generally seems taller as she usually wears heels, along with a dress and a blazer. Brief Character Profile: Chikako is the eldest (and only) daughter of the Fukui family, who runs a chain of hotels. Her two younger brothers have no interest in the family business, and thus, she gave up her studies in law to pursue business instead. As her father is considering to invest in the theme park business, Chikako has been sent to Wonder Park to analyze if it would be worth investing. She is, of course, aware that this is a test to prove her capabilities, but is willing to take up the challenge.
Cecil beamed up at the front of the room, eyeing all of the new arrivals with increasing glee. There were quite a few hotties, and he couldn't wait to see their expressions of glee and wonder at the sight of his creations.
Whorl was an alright guy, a little flighty at times in his opinion, and perhaps a bit overzealous about the things he wanted but Mr. Moore was always happy to provide him with what he wanted to the best of his abilities.
And now here they were. This was it. It almost brought tears to his big blue eyes, if he wasn't grinning so large.
He spotted a particularly lovely young blond taking notes, and immediately the little man casually sidled up to her and her companion, "Are you excited, Miss-" He glanced down to a brief glimpse of cleavage and a Guest Badge, "Fukui?" He liked that name. It insinuated naughty things in his mind.

Chikako was used to these sort of things happening. There had been many social events the Fukui family had been invited to in her childhood, and now that she was actually working in her family corporation, it was even more imperative that she attended such occasions. And with such experience knowledge of how to socialize properly and be polite. This was certainly no high class social event but there was a need to be strictly professional.
"Miss Fukui is fine, yes." She replied the man who had addressed her, coupled with a courteous smile. "And you are...?"
"Doctor Cecil Moore," The little man took her hand to give her knuckle a gentle kiss, beaming up at her. "And I, my dear, am the most interesting person you'll meet here, I assure you." A wider grin that sent the scars that marred his otherwise youthful face dancing.

"-runs," she finished, toddling into the convention center with a very definite air of 'impress me'.
"Oh, lordy, magic," she huffed, patting her hair and adjusting her visor. "I don't hold truck with magicians. Scruffy lookin' fellows."
Guest Name: Glenda M. "Alligator" Gautreaux (Gator Gautreaux) Guest Profession: Wildlife expert, conservationist and naturalist Physical Description:Glenda! Short, tan, always a little grungy looking, she wears an obscene amount of plaid shirts with cargo pants and is rarely seen without her trademark cigar or bottle of Bud Light. Brief Character Profile: Ms. Glenda M. Gautreaux, better known as "Gator Gautreaux", earned her name as an internet sensation. She became internationally famous with her self-titled Youtube series, "Gator Gautreaux's Swamp Stories" early last year and earned a few endorsements for a cable TV series based on her misadventures on the bayous of Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. She has education to back up her claim to fame, however - she earned her undergraduate in Forestry Management and Environmental Management systems in Eunice, Louisiana, and has been working with the governments in the gulf coast to preserve wetland environments.
Glenda herself is a very no-nonsense woman in her early 60's. She doesn't understand why she's become a Youtube icon, or really even what it is - her grandkids film her segments and post them in her name. She takes her cause very seriously, although she isn't good at politicing and cusses like a sailor. She's used her newfound clout to get early access to the park, and, while skeptical, is interested in the kind of habitats they've created for the creatures they claim to display.

It was too good to be true in Tain's eyes that Magic was real, but here this man look to be the owner said it was true. But she wanted to touch with her own hands to see if what he was telling was truly real. But part of her was really excited a dream of her childhood to know if there was magic out there. But as she had gotten older she had learned to what she had learned what magic was to tell a great story in effects, props and costumes to make your views think magic was true.
If these creatures were really true then oh so much she could learn from studying them especially in how they moved, oh how much inspiration they could spark and how much she could make look more like a real living creature in her job. Tain did have to wonder when they were going but she sat down quietly waiting as she doodled and made a list of things to look for in the notebook she had been given smiling happily the whole time and wondered to what she would see first.
Guest Name: Tain Baker Guest Profession: FX Artist/Costume Designer Physical Description: Mid thirties, with short wavy brown red that is slightly silvered hair, around 5’2” in height. Tain mostly wears jeans and a t-shirt as to not muck up her good clothing when working on projects, which is most of the time. Brief Character Profile: Tain is very curious and if need be will ask questions to get the answers she wants. She also thinks before asking or talking since Tain’s way of thinking is once you say anything it’s hard to take your words back if said wrong. Tain loves to try and figure out how things are build weather it be a prop or a costume and then after figuring it out how it was made to then figure out a way to make it look so much cooler. Don’t get Tain started talking about fabrics or your wont hear the end of it since she loves fabrics.

Chris raised an eyebrow at Mr. Whorl's speech. He wasn't sure if he should believe or not that magic is real but he wanted to. And after a brief glimpse from the boat he was willing to give the benefit of the doubt. The brunette got a small smile when he heard what Glenda said. "I don't think that magicians is what he is talking about Mrs. Glenda."
Guest Name: Chris Smith Guest Profession: Fantasy writer Physical Description: Lightly tan skin, brown eyes and short brown hair. He typically wears green shirt and pants, a gray and light green hoody, dark blue glasses, and black and gray sneakers. [Like this] Brief Character Profile: Chris keeps to his self most of the time since he generally had his head in the clouds, thinking up plot lines, characters, story twists and such for his books. When he does interact with others he is polite and calm.

Ah, finally. A little shade would be great.
"This way," she told her group over her shoulder as they walked in, pushing her glasses back up as sweat threatened to have them slide. It wasn't nerves, not at all. She was a woman reposed, in control, calm. On the outside.
She grabbed a cup of water from the table nevertheless, pointing it out to the members of her Mermaid group. "No alcohol," she warned sternly, just in case someone had ideas. "It's a good rule of thumb to keep hydrated, as the park is very large. there will be short breaks for snacks, but I suggest them in moderation personally; wouldn't want a cramp." While she let them listen to Whorl's speech about magic and wonder, both which had mostly become empty noises to her (a unicorn was still magical, but cleaning its pen was not), Kiera scanned the crowd for familiar faces.
Like Moore.
She actually wanted to be more ready for his approach this time, if the need arose.
Quote:
Staff Name: Kiera Ward Job Description: Lab Staff Physical Description: 5'6" British African American with short hair, a svelte figure with glasses, pristine attire, and a few jagged scars and recently healed skin from . . . less than cooperative specimens. And probably a scowl because something's always making her go no. Probably because of Moore. Brief Character Profile: Kiera is not amused, and that always seems to be the expression she wears 90% of the time. Blunt, overly critical, and with an eye for science, it's little wonder she's gotten into her work so much that the creatures at the park are closer to her than her actual human workers. She gets a thrill out of pissing people off and her good humor is dry at best, but Kiera's work ethic is unquestionable. When not walking with a stick up her a** about rules and regulations about how much this or that thing should be fed, she can be caught reading to the specimens and pods--just in case they actually understand.

Wayra followed the guide into the large building and over to a table holding refreshments, to which Wayra took a cup of water in gratitude. The average mammal's body contained roughly sixty-eight percent water while the average male human body contained fifty-seven percent water, so the vet knew how important it was to keep hydrated. More so if they were going to be spending a lot of time outside. She sipped on her drink as an older bearded man at the podium started rattling on with their speech.
Wayra was only vaguely listening until the word 'magic' caught her attention. The man went on, talking about his years debunking myths and lab experiments. So the rumors were true? There really were unique animals here? Wayra barely managed to suppress a squeal of excitement as the rest of the man's speech was lost to her in favor of imagining what could possibly be waiting for her.
After the speech was over, she turned to the rest of the group, her eyes sparkling with joy. "Magic, unique animals, this is so exciting I can barely contain myself! So where are we off to first?", she asked, eager to see these 'myths come to life'.
Quote:
Guest Name: Wayra Parnella Guest Profession: Zoo Veterinarian Physical Description: Late twenties, five foot three inches, average body build, hazel eyes, waist-length reddish brown hair pulled back in a green hair tie. Wearing a green short sleeve shirt, navy blue vest over the shirt, khaki pants with side pockets, and sneakers. Brief Character Profile: Wayra is a highly curious, happy, and energetic person. She has a few years of veterinary medicine under her belt and loves animals. She enjoys being in groups and talking to other people, especially when the topic is about animals. She accepted an invitation to the park because of the rumors of unique animals residing there.

Friendly faces were indeed arriving. The man raised a hand and grinned across the room at Keira as he lead the quartet of Unicorn group members into the convention center just in time to catch Whorl's speech on imagination and magic. "There are refreshments and snacks along the wall there," he announced softly, not wishing to interrupt the old man's presentation.
As it concluded, Les turned to the group with knowing smile. He knew first hand how very hard it was too accept Whorl's claims as fact, and he could admit to being excited to see the varying reactions from the guests when they finally lay eyes on what awaited within the park.
He'd resumed rocking on his heels, hands buried deep in his pockets. "Feel free to mingle while we wait, our I would be very happy to answer any questions you may have about the park or it's inhabitants."
