Shuu Mei was settled outside for once. The sun, rising eastward, was still warm and pleasant, and it was not too bright. Perfect weather. The warrior yawned, and smiled wearily as she settled lazily for sunning, watching over the territory before her with an expect if but sleepy eye.
Today was feeling nice, and warm, and for now, she wanted to enjoy it.

To say Kupa was depressed was such an understatement that it was ridiculous to even say aloud. Everyone in his life seemed to leave him! First his mother, grandmother and sisters let him be taken away from them. Then his mistress Sabia had found another and left him behind. Who would care for him now??
Plodding along, head hanging Kupa made a rather dejected sight. As massive as his frame was, he was rather skinny with ribs showing through his bright red coat as if he was underfed. True game could be a little hard to get in the mountain regions at times, but this looked more like he just hadn't bothered to eat for some time.

She scented him before seeing him, and the female rose slowly, moving to investigate the scent before spying a large, but skinny male moving along. She frowned, and approached fearlessly, head cocked. "Excuse me, sir?" She moved. "Are you alright, sir?"

Kupa's ears twitched upward hearing a female's voice. He immediately turned to face her, head ducking submissively careful not to meet her eyes. "Yes Lady. I am..." He stopped then frowned realizing his intentional reaction of assuring a female that he was fine was very wrong this time. Hadn't Mistre...hadn't Sabia always told him to be truthful when answering her?
Kupa took a deep breath as if steeling his will, he slowly looked up from her feet to her face, though still not meeting her eyes. "No Lady, I am not alright. My Mistress has left me alone. I'm lonely." His deep voice was oddly rather plaintive and confused as if he couldn't figure out why she had left him.

Mistress? A former slave? Shuu Mei moved over, rubbing against him very gently, looking concerned. "I can help you to food, if you want, and maybe you can rest in a den a while. Are you lost?" He seemed unabused, but still....

He was stunned when she rubbed against him, looking down at her in awe. Only his sisters and mother had ever been so affectionate to him. Kupa gave her a breathtakingly sweet little smile. "No Lady, not lost just alone with no where to go."
His lilac eyes peered down at her hopefully, "Do you think...could I stay with here? It's nice, you're nice." Perhaps he was a tad simple, but obviously very sweet and kind, "I am very good with cubs if you have little ones to look after Lady."

"I don't think there would be any problems with it if you wanted to stay." She smiled. "The nobility would welcome new faces.... The pride was recently devastated by a fire. Outsiders are welcomed to live here, join..." She smiled kindly. "There's some leopard juveniles... Their mother might welcome some help." Shuu Mei was thinking now.

Kupa's face lit up in delight, "Really? I can stay and play with babies?" His face fell some as he thought, "I am not really much use other than helping with babies, keeping them safe and keeping things clean and neat. It's why they kept giving me away. I can't hunt, and I'm not mean enough. "
Something that big should not be that pitiful!

"I see no reason you can't. And I understand some males once were allowed to do just that. Besides, if you want to learn, there's someone who could teach you." She nodded, smiling.

Kupa beamed down at the smaller female, his ears perking forward. "Do..could we go ask if I can stay? I would really like to, if you think it would be ok."

"Of course! The King should be able to help you, with him now being home and all." Shuu nodded, cheerfully. "It would be fun! And I know you'd fit in." Mostly because he was kind. Even the roughest dwarves were kind in a way.

Kupa smiled bashful as he ducked his head, "Thank you...for everything." He padded along behind her, trying to hunch down as much as possible so he wouldn't seem quite so big. It would nice to be able to finally have a home again. He hadn't had one of those since they had taken him away from his sisters and mother.(fin?)
