There's that old saying that a rolling stone gathers no moss. This if no other was probably Imbali's life story. It was her mantra, her creed, her livelihood. Nothing was so impetuous as the idea of surrendering her freedom to being tied to just only being able to be in one area. She would never venture out to any pride lands that might force her to never leave. She would also never join those who forced her into playing certain roles that the males had designed for their women. She was the master of her own destiny though she was often at a loss as to exactly what she'd make that to be. Instead she cherished the beauty of never staying in one spot too long. Not allowing herself to be rooted anywhere by relationships that would entangle her and thwart her freedom. This new companion she had found. This was ok; at least for now. He wasn't attempting to lure her into anywhere in particular. When they set out from the lake, there had been no destination specifically in mind. That seemed like a good start as any to her.

Throughout her travels, she was always watching others. She was careful and protected herself. That came at a cost. It was a lonely cost. She was often if not always by herself. From time to time, she'd trap and enslave various smaller beasts such as sengals, hares, or birds. She'd make them her servants and do her bidding. Still, that wasn't the same as having friends or anyone who gave a s**t. Her arrogance was enough to save her from the dangers of pitying herself over the lack of such people in her life. She was above the need to even have such people in her life. She saw herself as a femme fatale. She was always ready to steal the life from someone's throat if need be. It was often rather boring that it never ended up that way very often.

Though she might like to deny it, it wasn't unpleasant to have this guy with her. The sometimes she'd steal glances when she thought noone was noticing. The reading of his facial expressions. She absolutely loved when he would feel insulted and get all bristled. That was the best so far. There were a few fleeting moments where she felt almost drawn in by him. But her womanhood was a prize that would take more than a few nice glances or subtle suggestions.

She then suddenly started to grow weary. He must affect her more than she cared to admit if he had her thinking that way. She never thought about that. It just wasn't something that she needed or appealed to her. Perhaps she might smack him instead of insult him the next time he said something dumb to her. That would sure enough chase away these unsettling stirrings she felt. She kept telling herself. She was just accompanying him for the laughs.

Staying close to the pride and eventually returning was usually how the leopard played it. He always got a glimpse of the world on the outside and could safely return home when he felt the need. Safely was a term he used loosely. His pride wasn't exactly full of nice felines nor was it full of complete bullies. Still he'd not been raised to be 'nice'.

Now he was traveling with a female and not one that he'd "captured" or what ever but one who had challenged him and proven her self an equal. Not only that but interesting. For what ever reason Moke had decided that he'd like to have her around and she seemed to have no problem with him.

His head was full of dreams of power as he walked. Creatures fearing his every stride and hiding. This might have been some what true of prey but he wasn't nearly scary enough to invoke fear amongst his peers. Moke knew this deep down. A shape up ahead caught his attention and the leopard came to a stop. Something or someone was up ahead.

Trotting along at a casual pace and feeling typically carefree as was her usual. Seeing Moke suddenly respond to something she failed to pay attention to. His stance caused her to immediately respond. She crouched down, her hind legs high in the air, and her tail then started to swirl as she waited for this thing to show itself. Then, she had a quick thought. If it was something that might be tasty and good to eat; if it saw them, it might bolt. That'd be pretty lousy. She wasn't one to let a perfectly good dinner take off running with a headstart. That was for amatuers.

She was about to turn and sprint off to a nearby tree to lurk behind waiting for this oncomer to approach. She swatted at Moke's tail. "Follow me" she said. She tried to keep it down. She then skipped off towards a tree. The more she got to it the more she hunkered down into the grass. She then snuck up to the tree to peer her head around it and look. She couldn't see anything just yet. She sniffed the air trying to decipher what that smell was. Her ears laid back on her head as her tail swished much less often. It only twitched with the thrill of catching something or someone unawares. She hoped it would be a nice juicy gazelle. Those were always fun to take down. The best meals always required a little fandangling to kill.

"Moke.. do you see it? I can't make it out, but i'm ready the second it crosses us."

A tap to the tail was enough to bring Moke back to his senses. The leopard followed Imbali's lead and got out of the line of sight of what ever it was that was approaching. The approaching creature was moving at a very steady pace which strengthened the concept that the two had yet been spotted.

"Shhh," Chatting right now was not ideal specially with the creature getting closer. You didn't want to tip off the prey that you were about to have them for a meal. There was no willing prey that would just let you take a bite out of it after all. Well, there were the occasional suicidal ones... Moke supposed.

Moke stayed close to Imbali with his ear very close to the ground and just waited while listening. The creature was about to pass right by.

As luck might have it, this wasn't just something as easy as a gazelle. This was more along the lines of a run of african buffalo. Imbali steeled herself. This was gonna have to be a bit of a heavier takedown than usual. She was immediately glad Moke was there to help. If she had been by herself; it would have been taking her to task. She coiled down, and as soon as it had passed them. She took a flying leap up onto it's back. She sunk her claws in it's back and her teeth in its neck at the same time. She dug in and held on for all its worth. This was not at all like her playful pounce on Moke. This was completely feral and ferocious. She was playing around either. Her eyes flashed as she glanced to the side watching for Moke to assume the flank. She actually hadn't hunted with him before, so she had no way to know if he was capable of this sort of task. Taking down a lone goat or a gazelle trailing a herd was one thing. A buffalo with another coming up behind might prove a little more challenging. She was lucky though. She had affixed herself in a spot the other buffalo couldn't get at her without hurting it's friend.

Of course, once her claws stuck into the buffalo. It had started to go crazy. It fought back. It's companion was over there getting ready to try to help. Two on two. Two of these might prove to be a waste of meat. At least if they could get one.

Imbali was proving to be valuable. With out a moments hesitation she was putting her self in the front line of the attack. There were two buffalo and one w as fearsome enough. Water buffalo were a prey you would pray to kill fast and clean other wise they could put up some kind of fight and kill the hunter with out to much trouble. Good thing Imbali had one right where she wanted it leaving the other confused.

It was when Moke showed him self that the other buffalo backed off and headed the opposite direction. Not only could it not get rid of Imbali with out hurting its friend but another leopard in the mix. The fight would have been more costly than the worth.

Moke launched him self up on the back of the beast and tore his muzzle in to the thick neck of the creature. His teeth were sharp but this creatures neck was thick and well adapted for predators. Moke had to really clamp down to get a thick trickle of blood.

But the twos hunt was not yet over. They'd really need to do more damage before it was safe to say they weren't about to be gored to death.

------

That was when another pair of eyes in the brush revealed it self.

"Oh come on!" The other leopard whined. "I'd been tracking those two for the better part of an hour and you two... Well..." He sat and licked his paw for a moment. "My works been sabotaged it seems," There mystery leopard frowned.

Imbali held on for all it was worth. There was a lot of swirling around and ducking and bobbing. The thick neck made it hard to truly hold on as tight as she liked. A few times, she had to resink her claws in on the back, but the few good digs she got helped her a great deal. She made a note to use those openings to help tear its skin off once it was down. In the midst of it, she had peeked an eye open watching Moke help her. Side by side she thought perhaps they might look like some fearsome pair. She seeing he was having an ok time. She let herself slide down a little towards the left to tear open the neck some more. She was doing just fine until a surprise voice took her by surprise. She nearly lost her traction. Her paws had relaxed a little then dug in sharply which made the buffalo go crazy with thrashing.

Her eyes narrowed with indignant wrath. It was tempered however with the adrenaline being used to help finish this take down. Mostly, it was going well. She couldn't be glad enough for Moke being there.

"Well stranger... if you don't wanna help finish this takedown; you better not hope you're getting any. Don't expect me to feel sorry for you. Stalking these? I'd say you did a shoddy job; so why don't you stop mumbling about your failures and either help us with this one... and share our meal.. or shut your mouth and go finish tracking the one who ran away."

Yup. She wasn't always inclined to have such a big mouth, but being caught in the middle of something like this was just irking her. She looked up at Moke to see what he thought. She hoped he'd have something scathing to say to this stranger as well.

Moke was not happy to see the other male but right now his jaws were full of the neck of an african buffalo so there wasn't much he could do or say until the creature was down. The creature was thrashing now but Moke knew that it was just a matter of time before the creature lost all fight and died. The faster it died the faster he could deal with this intruder.

---------------

The females words were harshly spoken but there wasn't anything unfair said. Just how it was and the leopard just seemed to smile more and more as she went on.

"I was being polite. I don't believe on taking down something about to be taken down with out ones consent. Seeing as how.. I now have consent," And the dark leopard shape leaped in to action joining the two on top of the buffalo. Only, the way the new comer moved wasn't quite leopard like. He was a little on the thin build side as well. Something strange.

But the new comer was no time waster. He sunk his own claws and teeth in to the creature in aid of the two leopards.

---------

The creature was falling now. Moke jumped off. The work was mostly done and now the creature was down. A twitch of its limbs here and there but for the most part this creature wasn't about to be any more trouble. It was barely hanging on for life as is.

Now was time the time to face this new comer. Moke put a giant paw on the buffalos face and scowled at the other male.

"What is it you want." He grunted.

Imbali gave an exhale of all the tension that had been building up trying to get that big piece of meat to the ground. When it was down, she turned around to the both of them. "Can you two back up while I get it ready?" Even while she asked, she gave a great slash of her claw into the neck, and then she moved to a few parts around the belly and the legs. She started to sever limbs from the body itself. "We can all pick a limb and take it with us when this is all said and done. We get to pick first since we did all the hard work. You just came in late.."

Then, she looked back at the newcomer again. She sneered and snorted. "Like anyone could have even told you were there. How can anyone keep tract of someone who doesn't know how to time his kills right. Also.. not to mention.. there were two buffalo. You could have gone after that other one. Don't sit there and play the pity party with me."

Her paws and mouth were full of blood. She held up a paw towards Moke. "Wanna lick my paw?" She flashed him a devious grin with eyes to match. She laughed. She only waited a second for him to decide. Surely, licking of paws might just become a thing. Then, she glanced at this black ... cat. What was his deal? She found it really suspicious he just appeared like that. If he had been tracking; why wouldn't they have noticed. Or.. maybe that was what Moke picked up on to begin with?

Drusus looked from Moke to Imbali. Moke seemed grumpy and well just not all that interesting with some of Drusus's orientation where as the lovely Imbali was very much more appealing. So Drusus ignored Moke out right.

"Well it wasn't as if I was able to know you two were lurking," A sly smile stretched upon his maw. " If I had seen such a vision of loveliness I might have been less interested in the hunt."

--------------

Luckily for Drusus, Mokes mouth had been distracted by blood on Imbalis paw.

----------

Drusus watched the two for a moment.

"Say are you two are couple or something?"

--------

The blue leopard spit and spattered all over him self before retorting with a might growl.

"NO." He bared his teeth at the new comer before pouncing and pinning him down to the ground. Mokes face was inches away from Drususes.

"Now listen here. I've listened to you squawk about this and that. Now if you'd like to keep those vocal cords of yours.. you'll shut up! Or maybe I'll just take them any way and do the world a favor." He opened his maw about the tighten it around said neck and vocal cords.

--------

Drusus was slim and quick though. He popped out from under the leopard as fast as he could and retreated to the taller grass area. If needed he could run. A cheshire like grin rested on his maw.

"I thought you wanted a candle light dinner with me and the lovely. Now you should sit at the kids table." Drusus grinned evilly.

Naturally, Imbali took the flattery in as she would. Any flattery was close to being the truth in her own eyes. For all things lovely and magnificent about her were all true; all those haggish likes and profane words against here were all falsehoods; they were perpetrated by those jealous of her. Naturally. She had been showing her paw, but then she turned her head to look at the flatterer. She couldn't really correct him as he was completely correct in that she was lovely. The fact he could discern how much so gave him some credit. Though she felt a little surprise as seeing Moke no longer at the end of her paw and on the throat of this instigator.

"Oh dear...." she said in a mock concern tone of voice. "Well, we aren't a couple really. We are merely traveling companions. I'm the radiant Goddess of course. and you can call me Bali. Though your words and behavior seem to be offending my friend here. Perhaps he feels you are being disrespectful without enough respect to me. Perhaps my godliness should compel you to do more than forget about the hunt. It should entice you to not worry about him. Hmm?" She then gave him quite a coy glance. It was pivoting with direct eye contact. She then sat in plain view of them both. She slowly and methodically started to lick and clean her own paws. She licked at her face to wipe the blood off.

"Boys.. am I getting it all? It's so hard to see and tell without something to reflect myself in?"

Then she went back to the food at hand ignoring them both. She cut a chunk out, pulling it out to nibble on daintily. Though that was mostly for show. She didn't usually eat daintily like. She ate like a ferocious beast. She was just putting on airs for their benefit.

"You're just gonna eat. Why doll your self up of you're just gonna bloody your self again." Mokes response was half hearted and cold. His gaze was set upon this cheetah leopard mix. Moke had relatives that were half breeds but that didn't mean he liked them. In his humble opinion it was an obomination for leopard blood to mix with that of a cheetah. But that could have been his own mothers ideals coming through him.

"You want to eat. Then get past me-"

-------
Drusus was very interested in the meal... and the female. He gave a twisted triumphed grin before he him self headed over to the kill and helped him self to some. His way of eating was much less dainty.

---------

Moke was actually shocked how much balls of steel this feline had. He just walked right past him and helped him self to the kill. Moke also headed to help him self and protectively sit over Imbali as he ate. He had his eye on this new guy.

--------

"Names Drusus~" The hybrid offered with a mouth still full of food. Some one had never taught him manners apparently. Moke stayed silent and just glared.

Imbali smiled and shrugged her shoulders. "You are so totally right. I am just gonna get bloody eating. It's just fun to entertain my King and loyal subject here. He likes my paws." She winked at Moke.

Then, she watched as this newcomer boldy approached her and the freshly dead body. Her eyes steadily gauged his behavior. She admired the fact he was so bold. To act this way in the presence of two who were clearly bigger than him took some real nerve. She could appreciate real nerve. "ha... but that really wasn't me getting dolled up. If I wanna do that, it'll be much more dramatic and a much better show. I was just touching up a little bit. No need to look like a complete mess. Unless of course... maybe I should bath in this blood. Maybe Moke should like to help me get clean."

She then ate a huge piece of meat, swallowed, and swiped dripping blood off her maw. Nothing like a fresh kill. She snickered to herself and took notice of Moke's increasingly quiet demeanor. Well if this was uncharacteristically quiet of him. So far she had heard him run his mouth a lot. "Moke... are you not eating? You know this will spoil by the morning. Who knows if we'll get such a lucky meal over the next few days. This area can be unpredictable sometimes." Her eyes glancing momentarily on the hybrid sharing their food. What was his game? He was at least entertaining her also.

Likes her paws? Moke looked down at Imbali but quickly switched his eyes back on this new comer. Drusus.

"Bath in blood.. Yeah I suppose that would look nice." He was on auto pilot protective male mode. It was only when Imbali pointed out that he was indeed not eating that he half assedly ripped some flesh from the beat and chewed rather aggressively.

--------
"Loyal subject? Oh rich. Sure ~ I guess I can play that kind of kinky game with you girl," Drusus had a terrible sense of humor and it was starting to wear thin on Mokes nerves.

"Dolled up in blood? You know the quickest way to a mans heart is through his stomach and you sharing this kill ... well you're boyfriend doesn't seem to be too found of me." Yeah Drusus liked stirring that pot a little to much. Moke had almost choked on his piece of meat when Drusus mentioned boyfriend. The hybrid had a coy smile. These two were fun.

"Any ways... I am headed just south of here and some company would be nice."

-----

"No." Was growled from Mokes throat. Even with food in his maw it was loud and clear.

----

"Well I wasn't asking you. You don't seem to be the brains of this operation. I saw this girl make some quick moves and saw you take orders."

-----

Moke got quiet at that. He hadn't thought about it like that before. Was she calling the shots? No they were equals. She'd just been quicker on her feet. Mokes face scrunched in thought and anger. A deep throated very ill intented laugh errupted from his throat.

"Her? INCHARGE?" He laughed again, "You're really quite funny. And I don't like funny," Moke launched him self at the hybrid once more only to find out just how fast Drusus really was.

----

Drusus was now sitting next to Imbali.

"Dear. Is he always such a drag? Or is this a special performance for little ol' me?" His grin grew wider and eviler. Drusus loved tormenting others like this.

Her eyes flicked back and forth for a little while there. She ate and watched this bartering of insults. Moke was too much fun when he got all ruffled up. She noticed his reaction to the boyfriend jab. Hmm. She might have some questions for him later. She watched him being rather over dramatic. That was obviously his nature, and she didn't see anything a bit wrong with that. She blinked and was surprised to see him take the bait. She looked to her side where Drusus now sat.

Part of her wondered if she should whisperingly ask him to take it easy on Moke, but wouldn't that be humiliating for him as well? She started to feel a little bad for Moke. She couldn't figure out which way to really save him. The idea of him needing to be saved in front of this guy; if this guy really insisted in going with them even if she didn't accept. It could escalate badly.

"What's the matter with having subjects? Like as if there is anything else to have? I rather quite like him, and he isn't too much of a drag really." She lowered her voice. "I'm sure it is mostly for your benefit. I wouldn't have thought him to have such an intense response so soon. However, his obvious adoration of me is too precious. That pleases me greatly. I do wonder though. Do you wish to travel with us because of me or because of tormenting him?"

She turned towards Drusus a little more holding up a paw in his direction. "Does your admiration abide farther than a few pleasant statements? Or.. maybe what I should say is.... Persuade me?" She was curious as to what he might do for that. Hopefully whatever he would do if anything; it wouldn't cause Moke to lose his mind. She was both enjoying his reactions and feeling somewhat at a loss for him.
