User ImageHaving broken away from the rest of the group, Celestia made her way closer to Aquos. She glanced behind her, all too aware of how this could appear if her sister took notice, and, as she saw nobody paying a sort of attention to the princess anymore, approached him, resting a hand on his shoulder. Waiting to make contact with him first, she tilted her head slightly, her hair falling to the side of her. "Is something the matter...? You were quite silent around Earthmother and the others." She paused, adding in. "Or is it in my head?"

Waiting again for him to speak, she listened to the sounds of the wind blowing across the top of the lake in front of them. It was the first time she had been here, near the water, since her initial arrival. How beautiful it looked, the sun casting the reflection of the clouds over the fish swimming benieth its surface.

User ImageAquos stopped as he felt a hand on his shoulder, looking away as he heard the voice. He should have known she would fallow him, not that it helped at the moment. He was hurt and really didn't know what to say or if he really wanted to say anything...Though keeping it in wasn't really going to help after all.

Keeping his back to her he let out a sigh before speaking. "Are really that ashamed to have me around you Celestia?"

Celestia tilted her head, pouting lightly. She hadn't thought that she'd said anything of that nature to him, but, then again, everyone takes everything a bit differently. It made her feel bad to think that she had hurt someone else, especially her husband. She tugged on his shoulder as she brought her hand by her side, hoping he would turn to look at her properly.

She took a breath and waited a moment before speaking. "You that is not it..." she looked down, having difficulty looking at him. "...I... I just cannot let the authority know..." she looked back to him. "Earthmother is so very highly regarded; it is she who called to us on our journey to this land, while my sister... she will tell her children's father if she finds out, and he is one of the innermost circle, the most powerful council in the tree." She sighed, shaking her head. "Or... at least I fear that could happen..."

Aquos shook his head. "No no. it's not that. The last think I want is for you to get in trouble with your own kind." His voice seemed to becoming tense with a bit of anger. He ran his hands over his face, clearly frustrated. He just wanted to scream. He just...It was so hard for him. He wasn't even too sure how to put it into words right.

"Because that proved effective for one at the ball" He quoted her word for word, his tone bitter but at the same time, full of hurt...He...He just couldn't believe she would ever said that...And just after what they had talked about too. It just..Got to him.

The princess clasped her wrist in front of her lightly her eyes widening slightly before she hesitantly made a motion to come closer, stopping herself before she actually did so. "That was made in jest... A joke, between you and I... If anything it was meant as irony, not insult. I thought..." she looked away, shaking her head as she went quiet. 'I thought I could act differently around you, act like myself,' is what she wanted to say. Wanted to. This wasn't the right situation; it would only make him feel worse. Besides, why did she think she could open up to him, even with the warmth she felt in her chest around him, with how relatively little they've known each other? It was silly to have thought so.

But to say so now would be selfish. Instead, she brushed it over, as she did so many other things. "I am sorry... Truly, I am..."

Aquos let out a sigh and with it his anger. Maybe he was over reacting. But it still had hurt him. "I want to believe it was a simple jest but...The way you said it was anything but...And it really did feel like a personal attack on me for not being able to stop those arrows..." Everything that night happened so fast..How could anyone have stopped them? "It only serves to remind me how I failed you that night."

"I... am not familiar with having someone close to me. My sister alone is the only one who ever has been." she shook her head again, raising her hand to her head to brush her bangs away, but letting it rest against her forehead as she did so. "I am a princess, this is true. A princess must always be perfect; she says what needs to be said, what is proper and appropriate, not always what she thinks. To say what I think is to act in a way strange and unfamiliar and..." she looked straight at him, letting her hand fall. "Do you feel you failed?"

Aquos looked into her eyes for a moment before averting his own, sighing and sitting on the grass, looking out to the lake. "I keep trying to find that answer myself every day. I promised not to let any harm come to you. In that sense, you were not harmed and so I am not...But on the other had you were still shot with an arrow, and so I failed. And the whole thing just..Angers me. Because when you get down to it, I don't have much in the way to help you if anything does happen...I'm just useless. So the one thing I want to protect I'm destined to always fail at."

Celestia came closer until she stood immediately to his side, looking out as he did. She opened mouth to speak before pausing, thinking over what he had said. The one thing he wants to protect...? Was he referring to her? She blushed lightly at the thought before shaking her head away, breathing in and out to calm any nerves that brought forward. "I do not think of you as useless; nobody is."

Aquos let out a sigh before he heard Celestia's words and smiled lightly. "Thanks...I'm sorry about this...I guess I have more problems then I'd like to believe." He ran his hands threw his hair. "I haven't really relaxed since that night. Been so worried that someone might find out...Guess Skyla's screaming at night isn't helping me sleep either." He let out a groan and rubbed his temples. He could almost hear the little bird thing screaming at him.

Nodding, Celestia turned to look away, having known that this would need to come out eventually. After all, it wasn't fair for him to be so stressed at keeping a secret when she had failed at doing so. "The tree's Seer knows... She could see the golden string coming from my chest and, as it was not connected to a faun within the tree, put the pieces together." Shaking her head, a hallow laugh came from her. "Yet, she holds the secret to only her, even though such a thing is premise for her to lose everything she has." Looking up to him, she tried to give a soft smile. "I tell you, as it is not right for you to worry in doing something I failed at, even if it remains between us three." Four... The cheiftain's wife also knew, but... that was too much to admit to Aquos in a singe go...

She blinked. Skyla...? "Who is this... Skyla?"

Aquos rubbed the back of his head nervously. Well as long as no one else was told it wouldn't be that bad. A seer? He had never even heard of a seer before. She could see what was unseen to all but known to only them two was...Well it was pretty damn impressive in his mind. Even envious. To be so unique in such a way. What could he do? Nothing. Look pretty if anything.

He blinked at her surprise. "OH...I suppose I never told you...Umm After the 'party' where we were...Married? I got home to find this...Decorative egg at my door...Only it hatched and bit me. I'm not even too sure what it is really...Looks like a bird. Screams a lot too. Named her Skyla. Acts like a child, looks like a wild animal. All I know is I could never turn it away so I'm sorta...Raising it like a child." It was a bit weird to tell Celestia all this. He wasn't too sure why either. It wasn't like he was ashamed of Skyla...Maybe he was really just too tired lately. A good nap on the beach would do him a world of good.

Celestia placed her hands behind her back as he began to talk, softly gripping herself to keep from reacting to the words. Tilting her head, she tried to get to the core of what he was saying, "So... You are raising a child; you now have a daughter?" It hurt a little that he would not have asked for her help, even though they were supposedly married and they were supposedly going to try and make it work. That would include children, would it not?

Leaning forward some, her hair fell past her shoulder and in front of her, flowing downward. "I can offer some help, if you wish it." She glanced away, "No, I haven't experience specific to a child of my own, but at times I care for my sister's three colts." Here she shrugged and smiled lightly, adding, "You are free to deny my assistance, however. I am clearly not this child's mother."

Aquos couldn't help but very uncomfortable with the way Celestia was acting. It made him very nervous. "It's not like that. I just got really busy looking after her I just...Forgot? I wouldn't dare keep you away from her, but I've found myself having to look after her and myself by myself. When I'm not just bluntly taking care of her, I need to go out to get food or water for both of us, and I can't leave her alone by herself. I only got out here today because I managed to get someone to watch her. She decide fish wasn't good enough anymore so I came out here to hunt for meat...Failing." He didn't have any hunting skills himself. "This is really this fight time I've been on my own since getting her. It's just been..Hard. I haven't had any time for..Anything." He hoped she would understand. "I guess what I'm getting at is I would love some help from you."

Standing straight back up, the princess had her smile still plastered to her face. "Alright then, I shall assist you in raising this child. What is said is done." A small nod accompanied her statement, declaring that this was now an arrangement to be set in stone. To the best of her ability, she would try to be a good mother to this little girl.

Well, no... of course she wouldn't actually be her mother or anything; it wasn't as though she could simply leave the tree for an extended amount of time without it being noticed. But she had been becoming quite jealeous of her sister's little ones as of late and, as pleasant as it was to spend time with them over milk and cookies, the princess had begun to yearn for a more... real... sort of bond. A motherly need for a child of her own. While this Skyla was no child of hers, it was a child being raised by her husband, adopted by him if you will, and her too, as his wife, by proxy.

Close enough, right?

Looking to the sky, Celestia pouted ever so slightly. It was starting to get late, and she best be heading back to the tree soon if she did not want to cause suspicion. Her eyes returned to Aquos before she spoke again. "Perhaps we may come across an agreement for a time for us to meet later: you, Skyla, and I?"
