He was growing impatient. Gone were the days when he used to admire his father from afar. He was not a little boy anymore, he did not find everything his father did worth a clap and gasp of awe. He was now a man, able to manipulate shadows and briefly toy with flames. He was his own man, and perhaps he had a touch of arrogance, just like his father. He was no longer that little boy who allowed his father to lift him by the scruff of his neck and growl at him for his misdeeds. He was a man with a desire to flip his father upside down with his power and hiss at him. Why? Cayne was not one to tolerate such rude behavior, and his father was certaintly rude. The comment that Cayne was a mere half demon compared to Jayy had never left his mind. That comment had fueled a desire to surpass his father and one day yank him by the tail and dangle him by it. Such an annoying comment, unnecessary and filthy. Then there was the way his father treated his mother.... Cayne was a romantic. There were many words one could describe the shadow user, such as: Demon, terror, unforgiving, misleading, and sometimes plain cruel. But a romantic was one. He often caught himself viewing his mother and father with a twitch of disappointment. Now, he didn't hate his father. Far from it. They were simply two beings far apart, and unable to meet eye to eye. It was his annoyance that had caused the male to leave for the time being and visit the city. He wish he hadn't. Night time encouraged the trash of the world to torment the innocent. Cayne found himself busy being disgusted with the world and rescuing those targeted by the filth. This city was disgusting, and so far he was intent on never returning to this dank, fat infested dump. People disgusted him.

"I'll only be a second." It had been nearly an hour since she had heard her big brother utter those words, and Mai had begun to ponder simply leaving and going home to their youngest brother. The area she had been brought to unnerved her and it took a lot of courage to not run off in fear every time someone approached the building. Evening had started out just like any other, Mai being pulled from her room by Kilju to go out clubbing, taking another twenty minutes to find a decent place to go that was open, and then another ten minutes for her to finally relent and go with him. And just like always, their youngest brother AJ would threaten to gnaw the ankles off of any boy that Mai would dare to bring home. It was an amusing thought, and she always made sure to calm his fears before leaving. Kilju would then spent the entire walk teasing her about getting a boyfriend or three. Tonight, they hadn't quite made it to their destination, Kilju had become distracted by what looked like a new bar. Taking it upon himself to check it out, and knowing that his sister wouldn't do any sort of good in an atmosphere like that, he told her to wait, that he wouldn't take long. It had been an hour. Letting out a soft sigh, Mai stayed in one spot by the building's entrance, tossing her hair out of her eyes and fiddling with her accessories, right before being approached by an older fox. Instinct told her to back away, and back away she did, right down the little alley. She was going to be lost in no time. [[Wow it's been a while since I've RP'd i purromise to get better]]

The night was clear, both of stars and clouds. The toxic lights of the cities drowned any attempt the stars made, instead forcing them to blend into the dark night. Cayne missed the stars, eyes peering at the sky with a sense of remorse at the fact he often found himself within the cement prison. The city had once been exciting, but it now disgusted him. Though, it was better than his home. His eyes flicked in mild curiosity as he saw pink vanish behind a wall. Hm? A girl? What was she doing over there? Didn't she know there was a gang known for roaming around those alleys? With a curious twitch of his nose, the man decided that he/d follow her. Why? Mostly because he could see figures doing the same already... It couldn't hurt to make sure the pink blur was safe, right?

Although the alley unnerved her, Mai kept her head held high. Looking scared was something she was working on fixing, but her eyes and the way her ears were pinned back betrayed her. Instead of wandering too far down the alley, Mai backed herself up against a wall, beside a dumpster, and sat down. The older fox who had been following slowed down, and Mai took the opportunity to bare her fangs, attempting a weak, scared growl. And, oh joy, there was someone else following as well. The situation clicked in her head and she failed to hold back the tears that were welling up in her eyes. Now, instead of holding her head high and proud, she was shrunken down beside the dumpster, trying to look invisible and hoping she would be left alone. "Go away, go away, go away..." Mai whispered, mostly to herself as she started noticing many more scents in the alley.

Fear. He could sense it. His head snapped up as he finally came across the scene he had been hoping wasn't true. A frightened, pink-haired girl was curled against the ground as an older fox stood before her. He knew nothing of their relation, only of the singular fear from the girl. She was afraid, and she was wishing for the other to vanish. 'Go away'. He heard faintly. Yes, this man was not her friend. That was all he needed. "The lady said go away." His voice sounded sweet, almost gentle. He approached, the shadows by his feet shivering with a menacing aura. Slowly, they began to rise off the ground, manifesting into tendrils that swirled around his form, thick and solid. A clear threat. "It would be best you took her advice." He added hauntingly, eyes batting playfully while the solid shadows twitched and froze, sharpening their edges. Oh, how his mother would be disappointed if she knew his behavior tonight.
