It had been a long and hard Threadfall over Malvren. Grateful to be back home, the young woman had immediately gone for a soak in the lake. Tatath followed her rider, thrumming and pleased with their performance. The green soaked until the smell of ash seemed to be gone from her hide. After her own soak, Canoake took a bucket of sweet smelling oil and began to rub down her dragon.
"You love to make a show, don't you?" She teased, a smile playing on her lips. Her hands were slippery with the light smelling oil. It was one of the few times she was truly at peace. Suddenly, Tatath lurched forward, causing Canoake to spill the bucket. "Shards! That stuff is not cheap!"
I glow. I am perfection. I will gleam in the sun! It is time. Tatath bugled her wants and needs across the Wherhold. She took to the air, staying in place high in the air for a moment so all could behold her dark green hide and brighter green markings. Come, catch me if you can! Canoake and TatathParticipants: D'lek and Blue Tennath A'nos and Bronze Acriculeth S'dekai and Bronze Pioth Fi'o and Brown Ivanhoth NUMBERS TO MATCH: 15, 8, 19

There was always something that needed to be done, always a reason to be moving, even right after a Threadfall...especially after a Threadfall, since neither Fi'o nor Ivanhoth had been hurt. The score on the brown's neck was so minor that it didn't even count as an injury, nothing anyone even needed to look at, not when there were far more serious injuries to be tended to on other dragons. So she'd just slapped some numbweed on it - mostly so she wouldn't have to hear about how it stung - and set off on an errand to Benden.
They were barely on the ground when a bugle rang out, the unmistakable sound of a Rising female. Ivanhoth came to attention immediately, eyes going purple. Mine, Mine, I will catch her! Please let me catch her! Take these straps off pleeeease?
"Crackdust," Fi'o grumbled, but she could hardly tell him no. Fine. Hold still.
Once he was free of his gear and his rider had gotten out of the way, he let out a loud, trumpeting call and launched himself into the air. I hear you, lovely one! I come!

D’lek had retrieved some numbweed for the score Tennath received along his wing and they had followed the lead of so many other riders to the lake above the Wherhold to scrub the scent of ash from their hides. D’lek was in the process of rubbing the numbweed onto the threadscore when they heard the bugle of the green across the lake. Tennath was immediately alert eyes whirling purple, I fly now. D’lek hastily backed up as Tennath leapt forth into the air, ready to chase this dashing green, he would not be putting energy into flattery-to him it was a challenge of dexterity and speed. D’leck watched him embark, shading his eyes against the sun before closing up the jar of numbweed and heading off, a saunter in his step.

Pioth had taken some nasty hits during Threadfall - nothing that S'dekai would classify as severe, certainly nothing with lethal or crippling danger attached, but they were quite painful nonetheless. The bronze keened quietly to his rider as S'dekai applied numbweed to the deepest scores with one hand, his other arm wrapped up securely in a fresh dressing. The two of them had accompanied a more severely injured greenrider to Benden to ensure that they got home safely, and S'dekai had stopped long enough to have their own wounds treated while he was there.
His eyes still stung and watered from the ash and smoke in them. As soon as he was done attending to his dragon, he was going to go wash his face in the lake, then head home to Malvren and find a nice spot to have a good long nap...
But Pioth had other ideas. When a Benden green rose into the air, bugling her need, the bronze gazed wistfully upward. Something pleasurable, a little stress relief after the long hard flight - surely that would benefit both the bronze and his rider?
...All right. Go on, big fellow. But I'm going to find somewhere to hide until this blows over.
S'dekai didn't want to get involved with any strangers; he was still Holdborn at heart, and the worry about unintentionally offending a stranger's weyrmate was too strong. He didn't know these Benden greens and their riders. Pioth had no such concerns, and spiraled up into the air after the blue and the brown that were already chasing. He warbled and crooned a love-song to Tatath as he rose, letting his slightly Thread-damaged but still metallic wings catch the light as he looped upwards.

((Sorry! Got caught up in lessons!))
She spotted her suitors and Tatath let out rumble of challenge. She dove down close to her rider and then back up to the sky. Pumping her wings, she called to them. I hear you chasing but I see nothing except open sky. Do you really think to catch me?
Canoake moved further from the weyrlake and looked to see who might be her roll in the furs. Male, female... Since bonding with Tatath, her mind had truly been opened and she enjoyed every minute of being herself.

The open sky is lovely, too, but not as lovely as you, Ivanhoth crooned, following as closely as he could as she dove and rose.
While her dragon gave chase, Fi'o set off in search of somewhere to hide. Dealing with a headache later was preferable to-
Oh, Mine, do not hide! Please? There is nothing to hide from, and you have been sad for too long.
Oh, shards, why should she bother hiding? And where would she hide, anyway? Eh, might as well go with it. It wouldn't hurt anything.

When Tatath dove, Pioth dove with her, matching her angle and drawing a little closer to her. He was aware of the other suitors around him, but gave them a wide berth for the moment: everyone was weary and Threadsore after the long Fall, and likely none of them would be interested in locking claws with one another.
He kept up his sweet warbling croon, a serenade for the pretty green.

How could these larger dragons be beating him so soon off the start?! In outrage Tennath roared a challenge to the other males, eyes fixed on Tatath. He would have to win this flight through agility, not large wingstrokes!

The Fall had taken its toll on Ariculeth, deep scores marred his chest and others were scattered here and there too. Regardless of pain however he could not resist the call of this particular female. His bondmate's protests were shaken off and healers were pushed gently out of his way, gently only because his nature as a dragon forced him to take care with the little creatures.
With this smooth voiced assurance the sleek bronze launched himself into the air ant took off after the chasing pack. He still had time to make up ground, plenty of time.

Two had gotten an edge, were trying to match her dance in the sky. Crooning to Ivanhoth, Canoake flicked her tail the brown. Indeed. I hope you can keep up with me today. It will be so worth it.
And a bronze but not the one she was waiting for... He was close as she began to climb up towards the sun, her dark green hide contrasting greatly against the blue skies. There you are, Acriculeth. I thought you would miss this fun.
No one she truly recognized though one or two faces looked familiar. The green rider wrapped her arms around herself and let the sun beat down on her body, hair dancing in the slight breeze, legs apart and mind closer to her dragon's than normal. "Make them work for it..."

I hope so, too, the little brown agreed in cheerful tones, happy to be flying in the clear air, to be chasing this beautiful female, and to have persuaded His to join him rather than hide from it. Yes, this would be a good end to a day of exertion and danger, regardless of the Flight's outcome. I will fly my hardest to be worthy of you.

The longer he flew, the less he seemed to feel the injuries from the earlier Threadfall. Perhaps it was the pleasure of chasing a lovely female distracting him from his sore hide. Perhaps it was the numbweed doing its work. Or perhaps it was the simple joy of flight for flight's sake, stretching out sore wing muscles in a situation in which death wasn't on the line.
Whatever it was, Pioth was in good form today, following Tatath easily and drawing closer to the lovely green. Would you care for a dance with me, beautiful lady?

Acriculeth purred s he struggled against weariness and his wounds to gain height.
Down on the ground A'nos sauntered towards Canoake, unhurried and unworried. Whether Acriculeth won the flight or not he was confident he could find somebody to have a little fun with.

Canoake looked at A'nos heading her way and gave him a coy smile. She wouldn't mind him in her bed whether Acriculeth won or not. She turned her eyes back to the sky to watch her lovely green dance and dive.
Tatath went up high as soon as Ivanhoth and Pioth started to gain on her. She did not like being surrounded by her suitors. She would not be caged. Rumbling, she turned and headed back towards where Canoake stood watching. Speaking to Ivanhoth, she laughed. It seems you are doing your best to be worthy. So close to catching me!
And to Pioth, she replied. I care to dance if you care to catch me!
Finally, she pushed at her favored bronze though he seemed unable to keep up. You may not miss my flight but can you keep up with me?
