Contrary to the norm, Gen was not lying in a tree. He had decided to get himself a nice bath in while the sun was still up. Feeling clean and content after his bath, he began to make his way back to his favorite old tree. His territory. However, he noticed another leopard not too far from his favorite spot, in a tree nearby. He had been in that tree himself, but he didn't like it as much. It didn't fit his body as well. But this leopard seemed a bit bigger than he was, so perhaps he found it more suitable.

Whatever. As long as it wasn't his tree.

"You're in my territory, you know," he pointed out to the leopard above him, though his tone was neither menacing nor threatening, as though he was stating a simple fact for the sake of education. He didn't mind others near his home, as long as they didn't mean him harm. Needed to make sure of that before saying he could hang around.

Gen gave a casual laugh, sitting down as he watched the other above him. "That's the first time I've ever gotten that kind of a response," he admitted lightly, not really sure what he was supposed to do with that kind of a reaction. Was he supposed to be angry that he didn't apologize and leave? Act suspicious of him in case he wanted something? If he did want something, he was going to be disappointed. He didn't like to help males, particularly of his own kind.

They never seemed to have good rewards.

"What's your name, big guy? If you're going to be sleeping around here, you could at least tell me that much." Not that he really cared- he would be happy to keep calling him nicknames if he needed to.

He was sure he could come up with some good ones.

"I am Gennadios," replied the leopard, happy they he at least managed to get a name from the other. And he felt no reason not to give a name in return. It didn't seem like anything more than an even trade. If he hadn't gotten the other's name, maybe he would have felt more like he needed something in return. Some said that made him a greedy sort of leopard.

He was okay with that.

Stretching, he looked thoughtful for a moment. "Well, most usually get a bit nervous and think I'm going to defend my home and chase them off with claws and fangs. Not that I can't protect myself, but that kind of thing really isn't my style." he shrugged his shoulders as best as a leopard could, watching the other with a fairly neutral expression.

"Don't think I've seen you here before- are you just passing through, or are you a local? Either way, I guess it's not too bad to have met you. So far, anyway."

Gennadios noted the change in the other's expression, his ears falling slightly. It looked like what he was saying and what he meant were two different things entirely. "sometimes it doesn't really feel like a choice," he commented absently, "I guess these lands can get pretty lonely from time to time. Being a part of a pride probably wouldn't be a horrible thing, you know?" He didn't know why he was trying to encourage this stranger. Normally he didn't like helping males, or doing things without a reward.

Apparently he was just a big softy at heart.

"You and I have that in common," Gennadios commented with a light laugh, "it's not that easy for me to make friends, either. Actually, I'm pretty sure I only have one friend, and sometimes I even wonder about that." He chuckled softly, but it had a sad quality to it. Of course he knew he was friends with Vakasa, his hyena friend, but did that mean that his pal felt the same? The hyena was, after all, a con artist.

It left some room for wondering.

He smiled lightly, shrugging his black shoulders to try and brush off the sad feelings. "Well! We can be pals, can't we? Then you'll at least know you made one buddy out here." He had a light-nature to his tone, but he was being serious. Another friend sounded nice, even if he seemed a bit grumpy.
