It hadn't been long since his heart to heart with Althalus, which in Aiolos' mind was probably the best friend in all existence. It was a low point for the stallion which he never thought he'd see the day so far in his life....but leave it to the stallion he hadn't seen in years to pick him up out of the dirt. Aiolos had been through quite a bit in his time, from his days as an infamous trio of trouble as a child, to following his father's nomadic wanderlust to the mountains; to finding love...and losing love. The time with his own family did little to ease his frustrations and sorrows, as much as he loved them it was hard to be the only one without someone of their own, without children of his own. Aio had found spending time with his best friend made him feel as if not a day had passed since the two were tearing and racing through the meadow as young adults. Seeing his friend in love and with all his kids too made the stallion feel as if he too could be possible of the same thing someday.
Walking slowly along today along his family's herd lands, he could see down below from the small hill the sea of sunset colors it was rather pretty from his own family's blues. "We really are kind of opposite, in a lot of ways." He mused to himself, but there was many similarities too. Besides, although he was a little apprehensive on intruding into Althalus' family life, through the insistence of his best friend he was starting to really feel better by the day.
He almost had the itch to run, like the old days as a foal where he would run for what seemed like enternity.
Standing alone on the hill he looked off into the distance to the wide rolling plains, wondering if perhaps he should go on a little walk today to see the surrounding areas. He hadn't been far from the first few weeks, thanks to how low he felt...but today was such a nice day; and the air and quiet might do him even better. "I think a little adventure is a grand idea..." He grinned lightly, the breeze playing through his white mane.

He stuck out like a sore thumb among the sea of oranges and reds of the herd. She had a knack for noticing new and different things, and he was certainly new. Sanuye was welcoming to her father's best friend. Althalus had informed the family that he would be staying, but she hadn't gotten much chance to see him or meet him since his arrival. Things were always busy around here, but she liked it that way. She loved her home and herd too much to be too distracted by newcomers.
She observed shyly now as he grinned and allowed the breeze to tussle his mane. His blue pelt was something interesting to her, and she blinked slightly to fully take it in. She smiled and gave a little cough, coming up beside him. She looked at the mass of orange before them and further out into the plains as he did. Then, she turned towards him with a smile.
"Lovely day, isn't it?" she commented, her orange eyes twinkling with excitement. She wondered what stories this stallion had to tell. If he was anything like her father, she was sure he had been on many adventures. She wondered if he would tell her about himself if she asked. "Aiolos is it? My name is Sanuye," she ventured, smiling politely.

Flicking his ears as he could pick up some noises behind him his head turned fully when he picked up a little cough, spotting the mare walking up and standing beside him. He recognized her from many spotting a he had of her, and although they had never really spoke since his arrival he knew her to be one of Althalus' daughters. He offered his own kindly smile towards her, nodding his head as she spoke while looking down at her extensive family.
"It is, the cool breeze will make for a warm but not overly hot day, which is good for someone like me who had black on their pelt." A gentle musing, since well her whole family was fairly light with warm reds and oranges. Politely looking her in the eye he was greatful for her introduction since he hasn't really gone out of his way to did and introduce himself, being rather quiet and sorrowed his first few days. "Sanuye, it's a pleasure to meet you, and yeah...Aiolos it is. I'm your fathers better half, well, aside from your mother." He joked, chuckling softly. Inhaling deeply he could smell the faint chill in the northern breeze sweeping down, looking only a moment to the direction with a thoughtful smile. "Yes...seems like it will be perfect adventure weather today."
"Yet that can wait...any big plans for your day Sanuye? Such weather shouldn't be wasted being idle?" He asked, flicking his tail.

Sanuye giggled at the stallion's joke. She blew a strand of hair out of her face and frowned as it fell back into place over her eye. "Adventure?" she asked hesitantly, her ears perking at the word. It was such an alluring word, but it was also scary to her. She was relieved when he said it could wait, and she looked at him again. "I didn't have any specific plans.." she said, frowning again. That sounded so boring. She usually didn't think about planning things, she just did whatever fell into place for the day. Only for large events and serious situations did she plan things. She peeked at him from behind her bangs, feeling a little silly for wasting the day by not having anything planned.
"Did you have something planned, Mr. Aiolos?" she asked politely, curious to see what he was up to for the day. She hadn't noticed him doing much in the past few days, and she wondered why. He had seemed sort of somber until this moment, and she wondered what made him upset. She hoped all was better now and she listened eagerly for his plans.

"Why yes, Adventure! Surely you've been one some." Why, who knows how many him and Alth had when they were foals. Such good times they had, even if they were a little reckless. "That's too bad, you should go and stretch your legs; I'm sure there has to someone else who's going to do something!"
Oh wait...there was someone doing something. He was! "Well, I didn't want to waste such a lovely day moping around again...I was going to go on a little adventure." Yet as he watched her look at him from mostly behind her bangs, he gave another gentle smile. "Which is but a fancy term for a walk." He added, but adventure seemed to have a way of finding him - or he brought it on with rather stupid stunts. Ah - but that was before.
While he could go for a walk anytime really, he wondered if Sanuye wanted to come along. He hadn't been the most fun person in a long while, and before him and her father would go on their own adventure he figured it would be good to stretch his legs a little. "Say, did you want to come with me? I wasn't planning to go too far; just a couple hours exploring the surrounding areas?" He offered, tilting his head as he wondered if she would accept. Besides, company would be preferable - his mind tended to wander when he wasn't actively thinking about something.

A fancy walk? She couldn't help giggling at his method of making adventure seem a little safer. She did enjoy walking...perhaps it was time to see something new, to walk outside of the herd's territories. He seemed the perfect escort to explore with. She knew that he and her father had seen many adventures. Go with him? Her stomach flipped when he asked, and she looked at him again from behind the safety of her bangs. She told herself that it would be fun and to calm down, besides, maybe she could get him to tell her a bit about himself and her father if she went along with him.
She nodded shyly, smiling her agreement to go on a "fancy walk" with him. Besides, it seemed like he needed a little cheering up, and she certainly needed to get over this fear of leaving home. Perhaps they could help each other. "Alright Aiolos, lead the way!" she grinned, pushing back her discomfort for the moment and telling herself that exploring was something everyone in the family had done at least once. She didn't think to tell Althalus or Nivriti that they were leaving, she was sure they would approve of her going, especially if he was with her.
"Where are we going?" she asked, actually feeling some excitement for the day now.

He could see a bit of the hesitation on her face, and perhaps in the back of his mind he realized he'd never really hesitated much in his life other than when it came to love when he was but a silly smitten young adult. Yet as he aged, there was little to hold him back now, and instead of err on the side of caution he embraced his headstrong nature even more so. It seemed wisdom had only gone so far with the dark stallion.
"Alright then, lets get going." He chuckled, turning his back to the extensive family and looked around for a few moments...trying to decide where he would like to head today. Other than open meadows, there was only forest lines ahead. Closing his eyes and listening with ears perked up he waited for something...anything to jump out at him. Which it did, when the breeze shifted slightly he caught a familiar scent. "This way!"
Walking slow at first as he made sure Sanuye stayed close as well was comfortable with the pace; he passed through the treelines and began to slowly but surely lose sight of where they had been standing prior. "I'm not entirely sure, I usually let the path unfold itself. However i'm a pretty decent navigator - so we'll make it back before sundown; wouldn't want to worry anyone." Perhaps he should have hollered at Althalus before they left? Well, that was water under the bridge and a few hours wasn't anything to be overly concerned about; he wouldn't let anything happen to Sanuye and he was sure Alth knew that. "So, Sanuye...What kind of things do you like to do? I imagine it must be pretty active being in such a large family herd?" Aio glanced over, trying to spark up some conversation - often or not it made the journey that much more enjoyable with the peace in brought with the singing birds in the background and the smells of the pine forest.

She was surprised by how quickly he had picked a direction, and she swerved awkwardly to follow him. She wondered what he had seen that was so interesting to him, but she was sure she would find out. His speed was easygoing though and she was thankful for that. He seemed to understand that this was her first journey away from home without a family member nearby. She was glad to give him a chance to get out, it seemed he was excited and thankful for the fresh air. "I like to do a lot of things, but even though it's busy, sometimes it gets boring," she shrugged a little. There were so many things for her to do, but being the youngest in the herd it made playing games feel a little juvenile. Most of the times she socialized with other members of the herd, making sure they were comfortable and safe. Every now and then she would walk the boundaries of their territories with one of her sisters or a guardian, but she rarely had the courage to step outside those boundaries.
It made her realize now how much fun this was. The forest didn't look much different here, but she knew she was trying something new, and that was exciting. "This is a rush!" she grinned, finally understanding the allure of exploring. Still she felt a pull towards home, but she ignored it for the time being, flicking her bangs out of her face to focus on where she was walking. "Do you have a herd Aiolos?" she asked curiously, wondering if he was homesick.

Aio wasn't sure how to think about the question he asked if it was reversed on him. While he figured there was always something to do or someone to talk to...he was sure that seeing the same things every day could get mundane. "I felt the same growing up, other than my sister all my siblings are older than I am; it was rather quiet other than when I could see my friends. My sister has a bad leg...so she was limited and I couldn't go on grand adventures with her." He sighed a little, despite the years which had passed he still could feel the guilt. If only he'd been faster....
When she exclaimed her excitement he snapped out of it, grinning as well as he was happy she was enjoying herself. "It is....No matter how many times I explore new places the feeling never changes. Its still a rush, still new and exciting. There's nothing like jumping off your first waterfall to really get that blood pumping though!" He laughed, shaking his head as it had been a long while since he'd done something like that.
"A herd?" He pondered on his tongue, wondering if it could be classified as such. "Well, yes and no. Its just my family, kind of like yours. Its not that large though. My father is a nomad, so until recently with his age he doesn't travel far anymore. My older brothers have mates and live with them, and my older sister and I still linger around my parents lands. My other sister is with her mate as well, so I haven't seen her in some time. So really...its just my parents, and me and my older sister. Although I do get to see my one brother Zevach and his kids from time to time! So in essence, its not really a herd but there is a lot of lineage my older siblings and sister have created." The stallion smiled, knowing they were all very happy made him happy too; plus his parents were just amazing - so he was in his heart in a herd he was crazy about. "We're a whole bunch of blue, to say the least."
Coming across a small stream, no higher than their ankles he moved down the small slope to the creek bed. It was fairly wide despite its shallowness, and as he looked up and down he could see some large, flatter rocks crossing the entire length. "Hey - lets jump using those rocks." He mused, motioning his snout to the visible 'trail' just south of them. "They look really dry, so it should be safe without slipping."

For someone who was as old as her father, he seemed quite young. She was glad to see him excited after seeing him seem so somber previously. She looked at the rocks a little hesitantly, but trusted him. He was an experienced explorer, surely he wouldn't tell her it was safe if it wasn't. But just in case she said, "Ok, but you first!" She giggled a little, as if daring him to do it. She was getting a little more comfortable, and as she waited for him to hop the rocks she took in her surroundings. They had gone quite far already. The trees were thicker here, and birds of all kinds called to each other in the sky. The water was smooth, with just a little ripple down the middle that made a small gurgling sound that made her feel safe. She smiled despite her nervousness and wished she had explored this far before. The world was not as scary or foreign as she had expected.
"Aiolos when was the first time you went exploring?" she asked curiously, preparing herself for the trip across the rocks. She wasn't worried about falling in the water, if she did she'd only be a little wet. She assured herself that she was fast enough on her feet to avoid twisting an ankle.
