As much as Xenophon enjoyed the sunny weather, his preferred time of year, there was only so long one could handle the heat before they really needed to do something about cooling down. The cat remembered being told that numerous times over, by various people and in differing manners, but it was something that had long since been drilled into his head. In fact, so much so that he oftentimes forgot to do something about it even more nowadays. Luckily, an ice cream truck had passed by moments before, reminding the lanky feline of that fact.
"Miiiint, so tasty," he purred to himself, tasting a bit of it as his tail swayed in pleasure. It was a flavor that always managed to cool him off, despite blistering heat of the late springtime weather, so of course it would be his favorite! He took another bite before golden eyes caught sight of a bike stand along the park trail, immediately distracted by the equipment that, in all honesty, he never quite understood.
Striding over to the railing of chained bikes, Xen crouched down to examine them, leaning dangerously over to the side in order to gain a better look. After a moment, he scrunched his nose, "Why not just walk wherever you want to go?" He poked at a wheel, feeling his finger bounce off of the springy rubber, "I wonder how you even use one of these..."

As te orange cat was inspecting the bikes tran was gliding by on his skateboard, heading towards the nearby park full if ramps and half pipes. he was barely paying attention until he saw bright orange contrasting the green of the grass. recognizing the color tran stopped pushing his board and just stood, letting it roll to a creep. "xen?" he called in disbelief, he had hung out with the cat once or twice and had enjoyed himself each time but they had a habit of vanishing for what seemed like years after every chance encounter.
Today tran was feeling a little calmer than normal but it proba ly had something to do with the thick layer of sweat coverig the boy from showing off on the skateboard and the high tempurature of the day.
Slowing to a stop tran tappe the tail of his skateboard just hard enough to flip it into his hands as he gawked at xen

Xen tipped backward slightly as he attempted to pull his attention away from inspection of the man-powered vehicles on the bike rack. As he was hopping to stand fully upright, his ears twitched, catching a voice cough out his name in surprise. Hey, he recognized that voice, didn't he..? It was long-since filed away, but easy to regain access to, especially once he spun around on a heel to see the familiar face of an old friend. His face immediately split into a grin, tail swaying softly, "Tran! It's been ages! How're you--"
Blinking, his ears stiffened to tilt to the sides. Gold eyes swiveled to turn attention to the sidewalk near his feet, where he noticed he had dropped the majority of his ice cream in excitement. "Whoops..." he shrugged, a bit more amused than disappointed.
Tilting his head toward his old friend, he pointed to the rat with the now-empty cone of the ice cream, "Hey, you look really warm. Want to, um... go get some ice cream or something? Catch up?" Seemed like a very logical course of action! It didn't even occur to the cat that Tran might be on his way somewhere else, but then Xen was really only going with the flow.

Tran looked at the empty ice cream cone pointed at him and couldnt help but giggle, hey may be a little drained from a day of skateboarding but he was still randomly hyperactive as always. "sure, my tread since i made you drop yours" he offered patting his back pocket where a chain wallet was resting. Tran had been getting a bit more successfuly as a hair stylist lately and found himself with more cash to spend than normal.

There was a surprised blink of his eyes at Tran's offer, but as Xenophon reeled the waffle cone back toward himself, eyeing the empty void that only displayed the remnants of what it once contained, he realized his action may have been misunderstood. "Oh, you don't have to pay for me, that was totally my fault!" he quickly corrected. Tilting his head downward, leaning a bit to see past his occupied hand, he noted the hastily-disintegrating puddle on the asphalt. The cat snorted a bit in laughter, "That's going to be so sticky... I wonder what it'd do to the wheels if someone drove over it?" He was pretty sure it wasn't anything near superglue, but the imagery was still enough to amuse.
In all honesty, however, Xen was far from vehemently denying something that a friend offered -- he'd just have to see about getting him back, in some manner. Some way that didn't involve the premature demise of a frozen treat, though. "If you're going to do that, would you like to pick the locale as well?" Xen suggested, his eyes catching sight of the skateboard and linking it to Tran's overall fatigued appearance with a grin, "Looks like you've been busy!" There was never a time where curiosity couldn't be the main driver.
