Name: Meier Lemuel Dross
Nickname: None

Age: 17

Birthday: March 1st

Sign: Pisces
Gemstone: amethyst, aquamarine, bloodstone, jade and rock crystal

Blood Type: B-

Fav. Food: Pierogies

Hated Food: Anything marinara

School: None

Hobbies:
Glossolalia –He likes to sing, but specifically in syllables that aren’t any actual language- taking inspiration early on from Dead Can Dance, when he had no idea what language was being sung but felt moved by the performances anyway. Meier loves music, and he loves to sing, but there’s a lot of emotion that just feels more raw and communicates better when its not bogged down in communication by barriers like language. Subsequently he reads up and collects philosophy and art related to the phenomenon of interpretation without specific communication such as conlanging, asemic writing and Scat jazz.

Urban Exploration – Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints. Its the thrill of the adventure combined with the excitement of discovery that keeps Meier out at all free hours. He prefers transit and utility tunnels of the underways forgotten by Destiny City- abandoned subway and underground railway tunnels, bores and stations where relics from the Art Deco construction, homeless squatters and beautiful graffiti impart a feeling of a dystopian super-future on a separate planet.

Storytelling – Written or spoken word, either way he likes to weave yarns for or with other people. Its always fiction: Writers are liars, my dear. He prefers magical realism and retro-imagined futures because if he has to keep living in the here and now he’d scream. Why not inspire change or thought with ideals and warnings of what could have been or might have passed? This hobby means he volunteers when he can at children’s fairs, at renaissance faires, or works festivals as a busker, plying his imagination.

Virtues:
Compassionate – It has been said that only acts that are truly voluntary can be truly compassionate, and Meier is that with objects, with time and with effort. He gives with both hands, holding nothing back for himself. Only if it is part of an act will he hold back something, and then only temporarily and not for very long. He wants to see others going through life happily, and he wants to have impacted and contributed to that in some way. He'll be the shoulder for others to lean on, the ear that listens without question, the extra change for bus fare, the hot meal at the end of the day. For anyone in need- man woman, in between, child, elder, friend or enemy.

Adaptive/Inventive – A wall is just a door with a different key, and that's pretty much the philosophy that Meier lives by. He doesn't let a tight space limit him, and he's happy to come up with more than a dozen ways, many stupid or odd, to fix problems, get out of binds, achieve goals, or help out others. Homogenization is stagnation and stagnation is ennui.
So if someone needs a hand with a creative fundraiser, if there's important work done but the machine is broken, or just a break is wanted from the humdrum of movie and a pizza, Meier is the guy to find to gerrymander something together out of a rubber band, chewing gum, two paperclips and a wrapper.

Devoted – Meier's the guy who will stay up way past 24 hours to make sure a job is done as well as the guy who will stay by allies even when they make mistakes. He understands that sometimes wrenches are thrown into the works, things go wrong, and he'll be there to make sure stories get finished. It might not be how it should have been finished, but it will get done. 'So in a word, don't shed a tear he'll be here when it all gets weird If he ever leaves this world alive'

Flaws:
Escapist - Meier dislikes looking at the world as a ‘realist’ or even an ‘idealist’. He prefers to not really look at the world in any serious capacity at all. If he doesn’t actualize it, then it can’t hurt him. It is like reading a book, or watching a movie- always at a level of disconnect where anything can be discarded, restarted and retold. He doesn’t take problems truthfully seriously (he might act the role of serious) as a result of this, and blows off vehement tries to enforce an idea that something is dire. It just isn't how the other person is saying it is. Its this other way (see next flaw)

Over-Indulgent – Hand in hand with his storytelling and escapism, Meier takes experiences too far. If a friend looks sad because they didn’t get a toy with their happy meal, he’d concoct a faerie abduction in his head that explains why they are sad and would play along with this idea at them. Nothing is cut and dry facts if he’s planning it, telling it, or carrying it out. In fact, its debatable if its even entirely the truth. It’s more fun his way. Meier doesn’t see it as lying, in such cases to himself or others, its … improving whatever is going on. Additionally, actual experiences are taken too far. Why go joy-riding unless you're going to steal a boat from the national guard? Or, were he legal to do so, instead of going out for drinks, go on a pilgrimage (aka visiting every bar in a neighborhood). Excess is the best story.

Contempt – If someone persists in being a stick-in-the-mud Serious Sam, Meier will actually write them out of his world. They no longer matter. They are a villain, a minor character, or at its worst they cease to exist. He would rather not bother spending even the time of day on someone than face whatever fact they are trying to jam down his throat. The length of this demotion is as mercurial as his imagination and the story he’s telling. It might be the duration of the task that they’re interrupting, or it might be permanent. You never know when you need a good villain to come back.....but they're still a villain ;(

Ability:

"In his rage drove his right foot so far into the ground that it sank in up to his waist. "

Sailor Scout Ability: Rumpelstilz Erosion Pit Cave

  • How it Works. Rumpelstilz stops three times, a hollow sound ringing louder each time, and on the third it opens up a karst processes pit cave under a target in his line of sight. The Pit caves are dissolved by natural acid in magical groundwater acting with localized acceleration. There is about a foot of water left at the bottom of the cave.
  • Range. 6ft deep, 3 ft diameter vertical shaft, has to be in line of sight within 20ft
  • Duration. shaft lasts 10 seconds and then anyone who was 'forgotten' there is spit up into the shaft and out to real ground.
  • Damage Summary. The attack does no damage on its own, but the damage from scraping arms, knocking teeth while falling, getting wet shoes, etc are possible and up to other player's discretion.
  • Weaknesses. Rumpelstilz has to see someone to cast it under them. Once the cave is there, anyone can fall in. The shafts can be free-climbed out of if a victim is shorter than 6' and fall to the bottom. He must be able to stomp to cast it, otherwise the magic isn't summoned.
  • Frequency of Usage. Thrice a battle.

Super Sailor Scout Ability: Rumpelstilz Erosion Oubliette

  • How it Works. Rumpelstilz stops three times, a hollow sound ringing louder each time, and on the third it opens up a karst processes pit cave that drops target through water into a small solutional cave prison- an oubliette, under targets in his line of sight.
  • Range. 6ft deep, 6 ft diameter sinkhole, has to be in line of sight within 20ft. The oubliette cave is a roughly 5x5x5 cramped space
  • Duration. It lasts 15 seconds and then anyone who was 'forgotten' there is spit up into the shaft and out to real ground.
  • Damage Summary. The attack does no damage on its own, but the damage from scraping arms, knocking teeth while falling, swallowing water and coughing, panicking in the cave etc are possible and up to other player's discretion. The water fills the oubliette and halfway up the pit cave shaft (3ft), so a victim has to hold their breath for 15 seconds. As human unpowered average is a minute, this shouldn't be a problem for other characters.
Twice a battle.

Eternal Sailor Attack: Rumpelstilz Rapid Speleogenesis

  • How it Works. Rumpelstilz claps his hands three times then lifts both towards the sky. As his hands lift, tens of sharp stalagmites form up from the ground in a pokey forest around him
  • Range. 12 ft radius centered on caster. The spikes grow to a terminal height of 6-7 ft tall. The Stalagmites aren't "pop"= huge. The grow continuously like time-lapse film. So it is quick, but it isn't instantly impaling. That is the equivalent of roughly 5 inches per second.
  • Duration. The sharp, growing stone spikes last 15 seconds before crumbling to mineral sand and vanish.
  • Damage Summary. The attack does lacerating and piecing damage.
  • Weaknesses. As an area attack, friend or foe moving into or out of the area risk damage from the growing spikes. Rumplestilz has to remain stationary with arms raising for the duration of the magic to keep the stalagmites growing, elsewise they crumble into mineral sand before the time is up. He must have use of his hands to cast this. As it is a timed-release casting, targets can run out of the zone within 1-4 seconds (5 - 20 inches height on the stalagmites), and so only suffer laming damage to their feet and shins or if powered they can jump more than two stories anyway in a bound and escape altogether.
  • Frequency of Usage. Once a battle.

Family:

Clara Madigan Dross (mother): Deceased
  • 55 years, Clara was a good mother, a tradeswoman trained in carpentry by her father. It was a family business that could be traced at least as far as the 1500s. Clara slowed down on taking jobs since turning 50, but still had a well built clientele and a steady flow of work that she proudly completed.

Luecellius Wilhelm Dross (father): Deceased
  • 59 years, Lue was a proud man, happily married to a younger woman and with two beautiful children. He was a writer by trade, mostly poetry and short fiction for chapbooks and collections. He had a few awards, but no large scale renown.

Mari Lucella Dross (sister): Deceased
  • 10 years, Mari was the apple of the family's eye. She was a burgeoning actress, outgoing, and curious. She loved to memorize and recite her fathers stories and poems in a raw-theater manner.

Wilhelm Rikard Madigan (maternal grandfather):
  • 78 years, Rikard took his grandson in after the accident, managing to keep tabs on him in a loose-handed way. Savvy with money, he helped to set up Meier's trust funds from his inheritance and the insurances, as well as helping with Meier's wishes to officially be an emancipated minor. They are on good terms, both recognizing that their lives are very different from each other and willing to respect that. Meier tries to stop and see Rikard at least once a month, though, having affection for his last living close relative and the only man that was there to shore him up after the tragedy.

History:

  • 3 years ago, when Meier was 14, his family had gone out to their summer home in the Appalachian Mountains for vacation. It was Lue's habit to take in the nature and write for three months of the spring in the better climes and view from their cliff retreat. The weather turned incredibly rainy two weeks into their vacation, followed by sudden shifts in fronts causeing a bad, multi-funnel tornado storm. By unfortunate chance, the retreat cabin's hillside as well as a few other surrounding locations were hit, destroying the house and careening it with timber, rock, and other forest bits. Meier and Clara survived the initial catastrophe, stuck in the detritus for two days while rescue searched for them. Clara died in a few days at the hospital, and Meier stayed for 3 weeks recovering from wounds and trauma.

Since then he's had his grandfather's help in learning finances, setting up trust funds, and becoming an Emancipated Minor. He applied to and received his General Educational Development Diploma (GED) online at 16. He has been living the last year as an itinerant, mostly seen with his camera somewhere engaging in Urban Exploration.

Hey there Ivynian! So sorry that it’s taken me so long to get this crit out!

Your civilian side looks very solid to me and I don’t have anything to say about it, so good job!

I just have a few questions about his powered attacks! Senshi attacks are supposed to be based off of their spheres, and to me it seems that with Rumplestiltz’s attacks are more based on sinkholes rather than caves! Also, on that note I wanted to touch on the fact that the sinkholes wouldn’t be able to be permanent, they should vanish when the attack is over!

For your eternal attack, I don’t understand how it has anything to do with caves either, so if you could work to clear this up, it would be most appreciated!

Please quote me when you have your changes!

Hey, no problem, people get busy~

I'm a little confused as to your delineation that sinkholes aren't karst process Pit caves/Solutional caves ? They are a kind of cave so far as the speleogenesis that I've learned about, but hey, I could be wrong?

There are a lot of kinds of caves- littoral caves formed by wave action, lava tubes, aeolian caves formed by wind erosion. glacial caves, fractional caves formed by shifting rock to name a few that aren't the usual 'limestone cave' that are the stereotype.

I'm happy to change them if it still doesn't click that they are caves?

On the eternal power note, sure, I'll get right on altering that.

It’s not that it doesn't click that they can become a type of cavern when all is said and done, it is the fact that sinkholes can be seen as a completely stand alone sphere, and I have always seen caves and sinkholes to be two completely different things at the end of the day.

I see nothing wrong with the first two attacks sans the permanent damage if you want to change your sphere to sinkholes, but if you would like to keep it as caves, it would be more appropriate if you would change them to better fit the sphere you have chosen.

Probably could be its own sphere, like how there can be a senshi of jewelry and the more specific one for beads- I read ya!

Since you use 'can become a type of cavern', maybe its the temporal nature of a sinkhole causing a problem in the feel of the match?
I've gone through and revised wording/usage to Pit Cave/Vertical Solutional Cave which are more permanent and often limestone, though of similar form and function. Additionally, switched around the eternal attack to focus on classic cave formations, stalagmites and their growth, as an attack form.

Are these alright? Or I can scrap the whole dropping bit entirely for the first two and come up with something different.

This reads a lot better to me! I just have a question about his eternal attack--how tall can the stalagmites grow, and is it a somewhat slow growing, or is it just a BOOM, sharp rock, because if it is the instantaneous, that runs the risk of killing someone in one hit with them in the instance that it impales them or something.

Other than that things are looking good, if you can answer these questions, I think I can give you a trial stamp!

Addendum into the range and weaknesses -
The spikes grow to a terminal height of 6-7 ft tall. The Stalagmites aren't "pop"= huge. They grow continuously like time-lapse film. So it is quick, but it isn't instantly impaling. That is the equivalent of roughly 5 inches per second. Okay! Just one last little question!

How much water do they fall through in the super attack? Is it a lot, or just a little water, for example, if you have a midget of a senshi falling into it, is it enough for them to drown? The whole cavern isn't full of water, is it?

Looking at sources ( here's a decent one) , it takes at least 1.5-2 minutes for even children to lose consciousness by complete submersion of the mouth and nose in water (which actually only needs inches if face down).

As the spell only lasts 15 seconds, it isn't a viable source of danger- just a distraction (unless you're elphaba). The average human, unpowered, can hold their breath for about a full minute. To answer in specific, I was figuring the water filled the oubliette and halfway up the pit cave shaft (3ft), so a victim woudl have to hold their breath for 15 seconds.

I can add it to the notations and/or change it if that seems unreasonable.
