Melvin woke up sore and his chest feeling tight. He'd managed to flicker in and out a few times, but not enough to remember past the idea of waking up at some point to be aware of where he was. This time around, he opened his eyes for longer than a few seconds and rose his hand up to touch his chest and find where some bandages had been placed either as a precaution or maybe a thicker, more long lasting type of runic. He wasn't sure. Looking about, he saw his things on a chair, the curtains closed, and then turned his head to look at the other side of his bed.
There was actually someone there, to his surprise. "Here long?"

"Yup," replied the familiar voice as Rin shifted at the sudden sound of Melvin moving.
She wasn't entirely certain how long she'd been waiting, certain she'd dozed off once or twice. But now that he was up, he had some explaining to do, "What'd you do this time, Melvin?"

He tried to shift, his body feeling stiff and store, but the moment his sides pulled he tensed and stopped, resting back against the pillow. He turned his neck, sure he'd get a kink in it eventually talking this way, and breathed out as best he could when his body felt tight and sore. "I was sparring. I still had my shield up, but I guess it was lower than I thought. We weren't even using weapons." And yet he still was hit too hard.
He placed a hand where he had felt the punch and wondered how bad it looked under the bandages. "Who brought me here?"

Rin watched his every little move with keen interest. Perhaps the pain he was experiencing now was punishment enough? Nahhhhh...
After hearing out his explanation, she just felt annoyed. Why was it someone was always getting the s**t beat out of them? Especially people she gave ******** about.
"Beats me," she snapped.

He didn't miss the tone, and just raised a manicured eyebrow at her. "What are you so pissed off about?" He was the one in bed. It wasn't like he did anything different or unusual as anyone else on the island. In fact, he should have more coins tossed in his normal can for sparring and being injured. It seemed the IT thing to do after all.

"I know. I know. I get tired of it too, but give me some credit. This is the first time it's happened for me really. I had to punch in that card sometime, and I'm not too bandaged up. Just a bit..." He adjusted his shoulders as he tried to scoot himself just a bit more up the pillows to sit as best he could, but had to give up halfway through. "..stiff."
He breathed out and looked over at her. At least he wasn't missing a limb, though saying so would be a bit dickish to mention in front of present company.
"Did you wait beside me long?" He smiled. "Did you cry at my bedside into a lace handkerchief?"

Rin rolled her eyes, "Oh yes Melvin, I even had a widows watch built in your honour." A small smirk crept into her features. "Don't be a d**k man, I'll set fire to you here and now."

"I'm glad my injury hadn't damaged your sense of humor." He said, smiling back and glad that it seemed she wasn't too upset.
"Don't worry about me. I might not be all muscle, but I still have a hunter's rapid healing. I'll probably be out soon." He wasn't actually sure considering he wasn't sure what had caused him to pass out. From the feel of it, it had to be something caused from blunt force.
"Better through a spar than on a mission."

"Who were you sparring anyway? They're one tough b*****d," Rin spoke with mild amusement. "They broke your rib with their fist, apparently." Yup, she was returning the favour of chart reading. She knows, Melvin.

"Who do you think? I asked Rep." He said, rubbing at his chest as if he could do an examination of what rib might be broken just by feeling around. Damn. A broken rib. He should be glad none of his organs just exploded due to blunt force.
Then he looked over at her. "Is that what the nurses told you? Did they say how long I'll be in here?"

Melvin was confused as Rin hadn't talked to whoever brought her here or the nurses. "Did you talk to a doctor or someone? I don't want to be in here for forever." He looked around the room and the lack of anything to do and then back at her. "I can't do anything in here."

Melvin looked at her, at the room that was still devoid of anything of any interest, and back at her. "Did you learn some secret to Infirmary entertainment when you were recovering that I'm just not seeing?"
