[Set in/near the Tuait'tekem lands as adolescents. Radha is owned by KasaiLoki, Dene is owned by Buffy_the_Bloody]
Mlia had finally gone to sleep. It wasn’t that she didn’t love her brother, on the contrary she did! But they were getting much older. She couldn’t very well go out and about with her brother meddling in her affairs. That, and her father keeping the ever watchful gaze on her as well. Radha rolled her eyes reminiscing. She questioned her crazy family sometimes, and wondered if others were like her.
Stepping away from her family’s den, already a few of her siblings had gone. She was almost tempted to follow off the one time when her almost twin sister roamed away with that green lion, but she decided against it. Mlia would probably have a heart attack if she left too. Her panicky brother needed to find a girl that wasn’t his sister.
Slowly creeping through the sands, the metallic jewelry clinked against each other, making the only noise save for the slight shuffling of the sands. Her starry pelt melted in with the star-covered night. She enjoyed roaming in camouflage.
If there was one thing Dene didn't like... it was the desert. He spat at the sand, though it was to help get the sand that was collecting in his mouth free of their new residence. Though his mouth was dry, and it did little to help him. Sand seemed to stick, no matter what you did to get it off, it was still always somewhere. This was Samm was not allowed to lead. Since they had gotten lost from the Ela, he had taken up as Samm's leader. His protector, after all he was his big brother. But sometimes Dene worried about how Samm would take if he wasn't around. Well, clearly, he needed work on his navigation skills.
It was nice and cool though, being dark. However there was still this issue about the sand. He was going to internally gripe about it some more, but then the sound of clinking his his ears. He stopped immediately, his ears twitching as they listened for the sounds. He narrowed his eyes, slowly moving towards the sound. He wasn't one to call out. If it was someone dark, he would want the upperhand.

The good thing about growing up in the desert, it was always that sense you knew that someone didn’t belong. The heavy paws against the softened sands were a prime example, although it was moving slowly. Radha was almost sure she was imagining it, until…
Shuffle, shuffle, shuffle.
There it was again! Her eyes narrowed as she paused her own steps. She listened closely, the slow sounds coming towards her. She stepped away, hearing the clinking of her own metals in the wind. She loved her jewels, but for stealth situations they proved quite useless! She remained where she was there, her stance shifting into one of a defensive posture. She called out,
“Who goes there,” she wasn’t /too/ far from her family den. If she needed, she could call loudly for her father.
Well so much for the element of surprise. When she called out, he winced as if he had been struck. Had he been loud? He didn't think so.. He stood from his crouching position, and cleared his throat as he looked at her. He was usually pretty easily blended with the night. However his own footsteps had betrayed him. "I go there. I could ask you the same question." He said, conveniently forgetting the fact that he had no claim to this land, and thus, deserved no answers. But for his own safety, he had to be cautious. He had ran into too many dark ones, not to be. "Who are you anyway?" He asked, stepping closer, though keeping on guard.

Silver eyes narrowed at his comment. “’I’ is such a strange name for a lion. Especially one who doesn’t appear to be a part of this land.” Radha mused, sitting down. The lion was no threat yet, no needed for her hostile appearance. And since he wasn’t a threat, she could learn from him maybe? Sometimes the Tuait’tekem was a drag. Radha loved hearing her parents stories of their pasts in the rogue lands.
“I am Radha,” she stated her name proudly. Usually when introducing herself, she’d have to fit in Mlia name too. Luckily, his sleep had overtaken him, and he didn’t follow.
“What brings you to these lands stranger.” The dawnwalkers usually were adorned with some sort of jewelry. Bands of gold and silver, as well as little trinkets in the mane. This lion seemed to be lacking there.
Oh so she was clever too, great. He cleared his throat, and looked side to side, before deciding she posed no threat. When she sat, he let a breath he didn't realize he was holding. "I'm Dene." He wanted to add his surname. It was part of him too.. But he didn't want anyone to be able to trace him back home, if they had wanted to. Her demeanor seemed okay.. He figured if she was going to try killing him, she wouldn't have eased herself. Unless she was cocky, he knew cocky.. She was beautiful though, there was no denying it. She looked almost as if she had stepped from the sky. He had to try to keep his eyes from wandering, which was a difficult task.. "I was hunting.. Which seems completely impossible here." He griped, before cocking his head. "Why are you out here so late?"

Radha hummed a bit, overlooking the male.
“It’s only impossible if you don’t know where to look.” Strangers never knew where to look. Although the lands were experiencing a bad drought, and there was little to be hunted, the prime game areas were not hear, but rather on the other side of the oasis. Dene would be lucky if he was able to catch a dung beetle out in these neck of the woods.
“Though, it’s probably best to find game elsewhere. Our own hunts are limited.” They had to feed the cubs before the adults. The lands, although helpful to stranger, would unlikely give a free meal to a stranger when it couldn’t afford to not let their own children eat.
“Free time.” Clingy family members made no free time. “Stargazing,” she liked star gazing on her own pelt, but seeing the actual stars above flicker and twinkle was something she loved.
“Adventure?” She finished.
"Safe to say I don't know what I'm doing then." He said, rubbing the back of his head with his paw. He normally was always on guard, but he allowed his wall to drop a bit, and he sat in the sand, tail curling around himself. He was just glad he wasn't exactly starving. Before the desert, he and Samm had made pretty proficient hunters. Even Jasira had gone with Samm, for reasons that Dene wasn't sure. His hare friend was always with him, he supposed it was because she didn't think Samm capable of caring for himself. She was probably right. "Believe me, if I had a choice, I wouldn't be here at all." He chuckled, and then looked up at her. "I have decided I don't like the shifting earth." He said, and put a paw down, letting it sink a bit to prove his point. "It's a pleasure to meet you Radha. I must say.. Don't see many on my brother and my travels. Nice to see a friendly face once in awhile. Especially one that likes adventure." His whole life had been an adventure. True it wasn't exactly the adventure he would have preferred, but he couldn't complain. He was alive wasn't he?

Radha couldn’t help but contain a giggle. “The sands are not for everyone.” Her too, but she couldn’t face leaving the family just yet. It would just break their hearts to know another daughter had gone of gallivanting for adventures, living the life their parents once had. She shook her head at the thought. She didn’t even want to think of her brother.
“Where do you travel from?” The lioness questioned, tilting her head. Well, at least her night had gotten interesting.
He thought about her question for a moment.. Deciding whether or not he should be honest with her. Though she had been honest with him... and he felt hard pressed to throw that back in her face. He sighed, but shrugged. "I'm from the Ela'Wadiyi lands.. Though back awhile ago, me and my brother.. We got lost. So we've been traveling ever since.
We've been traveling ever since.." He said, and then looked at her, he looked around her then arched an eyebrow. "Where are you from anyway?" He asked. He saw no dens, he saw nothing she could call home. And he had learned the hard way that you couldn't just sleep in the sand.

She shrugged her shoulders forward. “Never heard of it.” She knew stories of some of the prides. Mostly they were the ones that her parents traveled through. She knew which ones to stay away from, which ones no longer existed and so forth. Her parents had never traveled through the ela’wadiyi lands.
“I am from here,” if it wasn’t obvious already.
“This is the…Tuait’tekem lands. The dawnwalkers, as a lot of rogues passing by known us as.” She didn’t quite understand /why/ it was called that. Though, she did know that if the land did not get any rain soon, the whole pride would be walking at dawn for a new home.
Her head bobbed in the direction of the ruins. The ever shifting sands would hide them from the sight of others.

He had supposed she hadn't. They were a pretty private pride for the most part. Or Mom had said that before. He couldn't remember her voice, it had been too long. But her face was always in his dreams, and so he was content with that. He had traveled everywhere, or so it felt, and sometimes.. He felt like there still had to be so much ground he'd never cover. "I am.. not envious of that in the slightest." He chuckled, though gulped when he realized that probably could be taken offensively. "Not my thing anyway. I'm sure it's a great place." His eyes didn't see the ruins that she was motioning towards, but he chuckled. "One day I'll make it back home. If I'm lucky." He said with a smile.
Radha shrugged a bit. She understood. The sands weren’t for everyone. She partly wondered why her parents had settled on the lands. She liked it for the stargazing. She thought there would be no where else in this world with the clear open air the desert had to offer.
That being said, the constant heat and lack of water was something the female would love to do without. It was the price to pay though, living here.
“What is your home like?” Radha asked, closing her eyes, listening to him talk. Her silver eyes glanced to the sky, matching the stars with things he spoke of. “and why did you leave it?”

He thought for a moment, trying to remember his home, from all the other places he had roamed in his relatively short life. But it came back to him easier than he had thought it would. He smiled as he thought of home, and remembered how lovely it was. Surrounded by mountains, it just had a sort of calming effect. "Well, it's been awhile. So forgive me if I'm rusty.. But I remember mountains, and rivers. Green grass, plentiful food, fresh water when you want it. Certainly was a good place to grow up, if I'd been given the chance." He chuckled a little. "I didn't so much leave. My brother and I had been playing a game of hide and seek." He shook his head at how silly this sounded, but eh, such was life. "We wandered too far, and by the time darkness hit.. We had no idea where we were. So now we roam, wherever we can searching for clues back home." He said, looking back up with a smile. She was pretty, and he enjoyed her company. Though he liked ladies, and he wasn't sure if he was just biased.
Radha couldn’t help but gasp at descriptions. Grass? Rivers? Mountains? That was NOTHING like the Tuait’tekem. Instead, it was almost the complete opposite.
The Tuait lands had sand, an oasis quickly drying up, and small growth of grass patches every here and there. “Sounds quite different from here, that’s for sure,” Radha contemplated, returning her gaze from the sky to the male before her.
“Have you found any kind of clues on to return home?” She’d ask her parents, but she was sure they didn’t know the lands. They would have told her about it in their travels. “I hope you find it one day. I wouldn’t know what to do if I didn’t have a home to return to anymore.”

"I've found a few." He said with a chuckle. "I saw mountains off in the distance. I'm not sure if they are the right ones.. There are so many from what I've seen. But they are the last I haven't checked yet." He looked at his paws and sighed. "I'm hoping that Sammy and I can manage to find out way back. They were a ways away.. Probably a few days travel. But we were too hungry, and then got lost in the sand." He griped kicking it. "Speaking of.. I probably should go find Sammy.." He stood, smiling at her genuinely. "It was nice meeting you.. Not often I meet the good kind out here."
Her ears flickered. Mountains in the distance? There were too many things like that in the world, she didn’t know if the vague description would be able to help him. Hopefully he would find his way back. No one deserved to wander, looking for their home the rest of their life.
Speaking about the other, his brother she noted, Radha rose back to her feet. “Right…It’s uh..getting late?” Or maybe it was getting early? The sky wasn’t as dark as the usually was at night, a tall-tale sign the sun was arriving.
“It was a pleasure.” Radha said with a smile. “I do hope you find your home soon.” She said, her tail flicking at the sand as she watched the shadow begin to leave.
