Things were going to get hectic now..with not only the older Weyrlings to keep track of but this newest clutch as well. Not that she minded really...Mercy took a great deal of solace from this way in which she could help the Weyr. Maybe she couldn't fly thread like she and Aerith wanted..but they could make darn sure well that the Weyr's newest riders got the teachings they needed to do it well themselves.
In any case lessons would now mean preparing two separate classes for the most part. Sometimes she would schedule them separately and sometimes she would mixed them together - it was important for them to get to know one another she felt..eventually they would all be flying in the same wings. Mercy also took special care to make sure Natai and Iachixth were always aware of the timing of these lessons and that they were welcome to join them. When they were not able to be here..Mercy also made sure the the appropriate lessons were communicated to them somehow..either by herself or by one of the other riders who had seemed to have struck up a friendship with the Hold Rider. Vaguely she wondered if the pair would make an appearance today. She hoped so..it was an important exercise.
Today she had decide to mingle the two groups, it was the newest groups first lesson, taking place only a day after the hatching feast and since she had already had this lesson scheduled for the older..and the rest of this sevenday booked up solid with other duties and lessons..well she didn't really have a choice. The new Weyrlings needed this lesson, the older one needed theirs. She would just have to make it work. Still she fiddled with the satchels she would hand out while she waited for the groups to arrive and Aerith dozed in the sun, seemingly vaguely amused by her riders nerves.

Jr Weyrling Lesson Basic Hatchling Care
Meat Preparation Little Dragons Love to eat, in fact, besides sleep...eating is pretty much all they do and while the kitchens do a good job of providing pre-cut meat for the hatchlings - Mercy thinks its a good idea for the new riders to inspect it anyways..just in case some Candidate worked cut something too big or included a less then steller piece. Choking Hatchlings are never good!
Your Task Search through a bowl of meat and separate the acceptable pieces from the unacceptable ones. You may resort the meat as many times as you like. 1-3 - Failing Grade 4-6 - Passing Grade
Dice - Roll 1d6 1 - Not good! Not good at all! You missed almost all the bad meat. Did you even look through the bowl? 2 - Well..you sorted through the bowl but...I think your judgment should be checked a bit, or perhaps you just rushed? 3 - Its..alright, maybe not the best choices but Mercy is pretty sure your dragon isn't going to choke. Probably...hopefully. 4 - Good job, you seem to have grasped the concept and with a bit more practice won't have any problems 5 - Great! You've found most of the bad pieces, the ones you did miss were boarderline and easily missed. 6 - Great job! You found all the bad pieces..were you a butcher before standing?
Modifiers +2 - you may add 2 to your roll if your character grew up in an environment where handling meat was commonplace but your character only watched and did not actively participate (Farm, Butcher shop etc) +3 - You may add 3 to your roll if your character actively participated in handling meat. (Butchering animals, cutting meat, this includes a lot of food prep)
Skin Problems & Oiling
You know what goes with eating? Growing..lots and lots of growing, since hide care is especially important to young dragons the Weyr takes care to ensure that all young Weyrlings are given exhaustive (read - beaten in their heads repeatedly until they can oil and spot skin problems in their sleep) lessons on the subject. But learning about it as a candidate and actually doing it on an squirmy, curious hatchling can be a completely different matter.
Your Task Oil your hatchling and spot any developing skin problems. 1-2 Fail 3-4 Pass You may attempt this as often as you desire.
Roll 1d4 1 - Looks like a haphazard job to me, you know your supposed to do more then just dump the oil over your dragons head right? 2 - Well..you made an attempt to wipe the oil around but you need to pay more attention to what your doing. Don't be blaming your dragons antics either! 3 - You did a fair job, your dragon is unlikely to develop any major problems, but some more attention to detail might be good 4 - Great! How many times have you done this before?
Modifiers +2 If your character was involved in beastcraft and familiar with handling and cleaning various animals +3 If your character has a previous RP where they help oil a dragon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sr Weyrling Lesson. Waypoint Memorization Drill
As the dragons grow older the threats facing them grow, threadfall might be considered the worst threat facing them in the future but rider error and badly given directions can be just as bad. All Weyrlings are drilled on the most common recognization points in Pern and today's lesson will be one of your final drills testing not only your ability to recognize a point but also your ability to communicate said images to your dragon and they to you.
Your Task Each student is given a random satchel upon arrival. The satchel contains a drawing of random recognization points on Perns and is not to be opened until the test begins.
Part one Roll 1d10s to see which points you've been given. Each dice corresponds to a point in the list below.
1 - Trine Weyr 2 - Benden Weyr 3 - Malvren Weyr 4 - Dolphin Hall (new) 5 - Eron Hold 6 - Iteos Hold 7 - Arcon Hold 8 - Harper Hall (Fort) 9 - Healer Hall 10 - Vinter Hall
Part 2 Successfully Identify the point, transmit the information to your dragons and have them send it to Aerith for confirmation.
Retrying this exercise is not necessary (Should you fail you'll simply get homework and extra lessons) However there are extra bags and you can retry it as many times as you'd like should you want to avoid that fate.
For each point you must do the following
Roll 3 D10
First Dice - Point Identification 1-5 - Fail ( you did not identify the point correctly) 6-10 - Pass (You identified the point)
Second Dice Rider to Dragon image & Identity transmission
1 - You image is a garbled mess, organize your thoughts better! 2 - Well..your dragon thinks its a picture but its pretty blurry. 3 - Still fuzzy! You trying to send your dragon into a mountain? 4 - eh...the details need work 5 - Passable..but barely 6 - We can tell what it is but its not very clear 7 - We know where we are going now! 8 - Good job! your not likely to between into the ground today! 9 - Great Job! 10 - You an artist or something? That pictures better then the drawing we gave you!
Third Dice Dragon to Aerith Transmission (Simulating giving points to wingmates)
Add your second Dice to your third Dice for a total out of 20 (your dragon can only pass on an image as well as they received after all - though that doesn't mean they won't mess it up themselves!)
1-5 - Wow...so Mercy is going to set up some private lessons for you mmkay? 6-10 - You need some practice..heres some homework! 11 - 15 - Alright, not perfect but we get the jist of it 16-20 - Passing score, good job!
Test Grade A - if you both identified the point and transmitted it correctly (6-10 first Dice, 16-20 second & third dice total) B - you identified the point but need work on transmission thought it was still recognizable(6-10 first dice, 11-25 second & third dice) C - If you failed to recognize the point properly but transmitted the image correctly OR if you recognized the point but failed to transmit it properly (Failing roll in one category but a passing roll in the second) D - You failed both rolls. You need more work. (Failing roll in both category)
Modifiers +2 to your first Dice if your character profile says they are studious or detail oriented in some manner +2 to your second dice if your character profile proclaims they have an artistic tendency or a history in detail/memory work (scribing, harper training etc) +2 To your third dice if your dragons profile proclaims them to be detail oriented or of higher intelligence then average.

Jr Weyrling V'ail Lessons, it was always lessons. It wasn't evening fun lessons, though the closest he got to fun in lessons was setting things on fire or art and ink. V'ail looked over the bowls, frowning slightly and pushed back his hair in thought. Sorting meat? Naanash had already talked to him about proper size, pretty much beat it into his head. V'ail hummed, poking the bowl. Lanterneth murmured as she rest her head onto his lap and eyed the meat. The crimson yawned, snuggling into her bondmate's lap. "Yes, yes, I'm going to sort it." V'ail started to sort the meat, picking out pieces of less than stellar cuts that were too large or stringy, or contained bone chucks. "You know... I never thought I would be happy that Nash made me help out with cooking. I hate cooking. It takes too long and it never turns out right."

Rolling for Wen and Rynsemth
Rynsemth followed Wen to the lesson, the black a few steps behind and curious. He flicked his tail and stretched, settling down beside Wen as he took a satchel.
"I believe we have to wait till the test begins." Wen said and sunk back his dragon, resting against the black and casually tossed the bag up and caught it. "I thought you had patience."

Rolled 2 out of 6 +2 For hanging out in Hold Kitchen +3 For handling meat in Beastcraft Sum = 7 7-1=6 ________________________________ Jr. Weyrling
R'an looked around at the other Weyrlings, his first lesson and he realized it was just like what he was used to. Getting up early and working with beasts, no matter what they were.
'I'm no beast.' Syriacuth nudged his leg.
R'an chuckled, 'You're right you're not. But this is similar.'
The blue huffed and sniffed at the bowl of meat. "Did they purposely throw bad meat in there?' He asked as he nosed at the bowl again. Roan smiled. 'I doubt it. Now get back down, I don't want you eating the wrong thing and getting sick.' He pet the dragon's head and went about sorting, taking out a nasty piece that looked like it wasn't even meant to be meat.

C'tis and Malcarreth - Sr Weyrlings
Today's lesson was more important than many so far as he saw it. Soon enough they would be able to between, and go anywhere they wanted in the world... so long as they had the coordinates right, the image properly in their head. That was why this lesson mattered.
C'its accepted a satchel and exchanged a glance with Rochelle. Here went then, she was probably just as keen as he was to get this down as she'd be wanting to go and see her father over at Healer Hall.

C'tis and Malcarreth - Sr Weyrlings +0 d1. +2d2 +2d3 3 = Fail. 11 = Pass. 19 = Pass. (C'tis will re-try)
"What've you got?" C'tis murmured to his compatriot/usual partner in crime, who didn't look especially thrilled for some reason. Was it the lesson, or maybe something to do with a certain blue junior weyrling? "I've got... Err.... Not sure." C'tis turned the page this way and that. Shrugging slightly he half closed his eyes and passed the image to Malcarreth, he might not know quite what it was but he could sure as shaff visualise it for Malcarreth.
The miniature blue acknowledge the sending only offhandedly, being rather too focused on passing the image he received on to Aerith. he observed as he passed the pin-sharp image onward.

Rochelle and Kibeth - sr weyrlings
"I think my goal in life is to pop random places and coat it all with my wonderful presence," rochelle sighed, accepting the satchel. Becka being there didn't phase her a bit, really...the girl kept away from them so far and at this point the only thing she could do to her was put trundlebugs in her bed. "It's so weird seeing the junior weyrlings... were ours so small?"
Your memory astounds me

"Yes, they were," C'tis replied with an expression that was almost a smile. "Kibeth was slightly smaller than Malcarreth, even." It was a little strange to think that now when faced with the size difference between their dragons and the hatchlings and between Mal and Kibeth.
"Well shaff that, I'm trying again," he added, "I'm not going to plonk my arse in remedial lessons or spend my evenings doing whatever extra special work for the cognitively challenged Mercy has lined up." So saying he grabbed another satchel and opened it up.

Rochelle & Kibeth +2 modifier, 2nd die
"I got, eh..." she squinted and tilted her head before brightening up. "Vintner Hall! Pretty sure, an ex-boyfriend had family there, we visited a few times. Yours looks.... I dunno where that is." Pierced eyebrows arched, the glasscrafter leaning over to get a good look. "Yeah, pull anothyer, that picture is weird. You could be spending your nights doing something badass, since we can now."
Kibeth sighed, though even her snark quieted when rochelle transmitted the picture to her. The picture came in clear when she sent it to aerith. Vintner Hall. We can get there.
"Man... shaff, yeah. We could almost carry them." She smiled, shaking her head in memory. "At least you had one that could walk. And how could we put someone that uses 'cognitively challeneged' as a casual insult into after shift classes? It'd suck. You're much better off partying it out."

C'tis and Malcarreth - Sr Weyrlings +0 d1. +2d2 +2d3 8 = pass, 4 = eeeeh, 14 = meh
C'tis snorted and pulled out the fresh sheet of paper. "Sharding right, I've got much better things to do!" He'd nearly added 'and much better people too' but at the last moment decided against it. Far too many currently awkward feelings going on to make a joke like that.
"Oh, this is Arcon Hold," he said instantly, scowling as he passed the image along to Malcarreth, it had felt clunky this time. "Sodit," he muttered, shoving the paper roughly back into the bag, "I am not walking away from here some mediocre blue rider who needs his hand held." Scarred face pulling into a dark scowl C'tis grabbed another satchel. Rochelle had got it perfect first time judging by the look on her face, but then she was his natural superior.
Malcarreth sent firmly,

C'tis and Malcarreth - Sr Weyrlings
"Maybe not but I have to prove it," C'tis hissed under his breath on his return, keeping his voice low so that only Rochelle could hear him. He couldn't stand it, being only just about average, only just good enough. He was better than that and Malcarreth was better than that and... well he just had to get this down right, that was all.

C'tis and Malcarreth - Sr Weyrlings +0 d1. +2d2 +2d3
This time around was... well it was no better. By all dramatic rights C'tis' gaze should have burned a hole in the page he was staring at. He wasn't stupid, he knew he wasn't stupid but here he was failing again. Why couldn't he get this? It wasn't like he wasn't trying or like he hadn't paid attention! Malcarreth was right though, he angrier and more frustrated he got the harder this was becoming. The image he passed to his dragon was all wrong and he knew it but he couldn't seem to make himself focus any better.
C'tis snapped as he shoved the picture away but he did try to take his dragon's advice. Rather than diving straight away for another satchel he paused and pushed his fingers through his hair. "Clearly my mind is too full of the poetry in motion that is so many beautiful dragons of a rainbow of hues," he muttered in a tone that sounded like he was talking about having stepped in a steaming pile of wher s**t.

Oh, shi--
She knew that face.
Sometimes Rochelle wanted to give him a hug to calm him down. Othertimes she wanted to smack him in the head and tell 'Grow up!' Most times she let him snarl and hiss, tried to talk him down.
This, though... it was in public. This was around other people. He hated looking silly or overly emotional, anything, in public. Rochelle hesitated and reached over to very gently touch his back, her voice quiet. "They're scribbles on a page., that's all. You can draw better s**t than this with your eyes closed. No one is spying on anyone else...well, we are because we're badass. Everything's okay, C'tis."
