Beginning

Quote:
Deciding to take a break from your training and lessons, you have wandered off to the sea side. How you travel to the shore is up to your imagination, but when you have finally arrived at your designation it is late afternoon. As you stroll along the sandy shore and enjoy the soothing sounds of the waves beating upon the shore, a glimmer inland catches your eye. Looking towards it you see what ever sparkled has vanished into a dark opening in the rocky hillside next to you.

As you wander over towards the hill, you can see that while it might be a tight squeeze, you think you can enter into the dark tunnel beyond.

Please write your reactions to this prompt and reasons for being here.
If you decide to leave without entering, then give a reason why and go to Quit.
If you wish to continue inside the tunnel, also give a reason why and go to Entering.

Kilian had been training extensively as of lately. Even including Amadia in on some of the training sessions. If he was going to be bringing her along on dragon hunts, they needed to practice together more. He looked down at his companion, though he was still a little reluctant to refer to her as that out loud. That relationship was something he was still trying to wrap his head around.

Shaking his head, as if to clear the fog, Kilian looked around at the vast beach before him. It really was nice to get away from the city and training. He watched as Amadia dug in the sand near by. The feeling of elation coming from the Keinling was strong and Kilian knew that it had been a good idea to come here. They had both been too stressed out as of lately.

Letting out a deep breath, he decided he'd hunt for some shells for his cousin. As he was combing the beach close to the water something glimmered in the corner of his vision. His head snapped up and swiveled to the right. His vision settled on a small opening on the cliff. Was it a cave? What was that shimmering.

Kilian quickly abandoned his shell hunt and made his way over to the hole in the hillside. As he peaked his head into the hole a cool, misty breeze assaulted his face. "Strange..." His curiosity was getting the best of him. "Amadia!" He shouted for his keinling. "Let's go exploring!" The smile on Kilian's face was bright with excitement.

Entering

Quote:
As you squeeze into the dark tunnel, you can see a little in front of you. There are small animal tracks in the dirt beneath you. Wiggling your way slowly through the tunnel, you come upon a side tunnel. Both trails have animal tracks, though the path forward seems more traveled. Will you continue forward or turn and go down the side tunnel? Or have you had enough and want to crawl backwards and leave?

Once again, please respond to this prompt, what are your character's thoughts and feelings as they travel through this dark cramped tunnel.

If you
A) go forward, Go to "A: Forward,"
B) go down the side tunnel, Go to "B: Side Tunnel"

Kilian let Amadia go through the hole first The opening was rather small and he figured he'd have to help shove her through. After he got the keinling through, Kilian squeezed himself through the narrow opening. "Jeeze, that was a tight squeeze." He rubbed the back of his neck as he looked around. At least the space inside was a bit roomier than the entrance had been.

Kilian looked down at his feet and noticed the tracks. "Well, I guess there's only one way to go. He made his way through the tunnel as best as possible. There were some pretty tight squeezes here and there.

Finally, he came to a split. A tunnel branched off to the right and a path was also in front of him. He decided he would take the path more traveled and headed forward.

Forward

Forward

Quote:
Deciding to ignore the side tunnel, you continue on-wards. It seems a long time passes as you crawl forward, hands and knees hurting from the rocky ground and back cramping. Suddenly the dim air lightens; a gleam appears in front of you. As you crawl towards the light.....

Please roll a d100!
A) 1-10:: you tumble off the cliff edge. The fall will not kill you, but it will hurt! Go to "A1: Fall!".
B) 11-100:: you notice the floor suddenly dropping away and stop in time to not fall. Go to "A2:: Aware of Surroundings"

A2: Aware of Surroundings

Quote:
While you are engaged in following the light, as you crawl you can feel the ground start to slope. Taking your eyes off the light, you see that in front of you the ground abruptly falls away! Good thing you were paying attention! As you crawl to the edge and look you see a small cavern light up from a hole in the ceiling. Tree roots have forced their way into this cave and opened up a path for light and water. A small pond has formed beneath the opening. In the middle of it you see a tiny island. It is covered in junk; apparently a small creature has been stock piling stolen goods in this cave. Perhaps the sparkle that led you here was that same creature coming to drop off more shiny items. Some rags, broken bottles and broken jewelry appear to make up the majority of the pile. But amidst the pile you can spot something sparkling in the light, it looks different from the rest of it. You can see a tunnel leading into the cavern across from you.

What do you do?
A) Fly down? Go to "Cavern Room"
B) Climb down? Roll a d100,
» 1-50: you make it down successfully, Go to "Cavern Room"
» 51-100: you slip and fall, but still make it into the cavern. Go to "Cavern Room"
C) Go back and try the side tunnel? Go to "Side Tunnel"
D) Leave the tunnels and cavern? Go to "Quit"

Kilian crawled on his hands and knees for what seemed like forever. His hands were becoming very sore and he almost turned back a few times but decided to keep going. He had come this far already. Amadia, at the split off, had moved behind him.

Soon, a light began to flicker in front of him. He noticed the ground was slowly starting to slope downwards. Kilian looked down just in time to stop himself from falling off of a cliff side. He peered over the edge and saw a small island with all kinds of junk littered on it. He followed the light beam up to the cavern ceiling and saw the hole the tree roots had made.

He contemplated how to get down to the small island. He could back track and go down the side tunnel. Maybe it lead down there. Or it might lead farther into the cavern, away from the loot below. He looked back at Amadia. He wasn't sure how well she was at flying. He'd never really seen her do it. So he wasn't going to risk her life or his doing that.

Finally, he decided that he'd just have to climb his way down. "Welp, lets go girl." He said as he managed to turn himself around and slithered over the edge. They were about halfway down when Kilian's foot hit a slipper piece of rock and he lost his footing. "Crap!" He growled as his hands began to slip. He lost his grip and went tumbling down the rest of the way.

He hit the cavern floor with a grunt and groaned at the pain that shot through his back. "Well hell." Kilian mumbled to himself as Amadia managed to climb the rest of the way down. She came over and nudged him under the arm to help him get back to his feet.

Cavern Room

Quote:
Looking around at your surroundings you see a small cavern light up from a hole in the ceiling. Tree roots have forced their way into this cave and opened up a path for light and water. A small pond has formed beneath the opening. In the middle of it you see a tiny island. It is covered in junk. Some rags, broken bottles and broken jewelry. Also amid the pile you can spot something sparkling in the light. The only openings that you can leave or enter this room from are from a tunnel that comes out half way up the wall or a tunnel that leads off into the dark again.

What do you do? What are your character's thoughts?
Do you:
A) Approach the pond and its pile? Go to "Loot"
B) Leave? Go to "Leaving B" if you wish go out the tunnel halfway up the cavern wall or "Leaving A" if you wish to go out the tunnel in the wall.

Loot

Quote:
Approaching the pile, you wade through the cold pond waters. It is not deep and you can see small fish swim away from your noisy intrusion. As you reach the pile, you can see it is mostly rocks and trash gathered by some small creature, but amidst the trash you find an Ayrala and Peisio Dragon Orb! (one for each participant)

Now to leave. Go to "Leaving B" if you wish go out the tunnel in the middle of the wall or "Leaving A" if you wish to go out the tunnel in the wall.

Kilian made his way over to the water and stopped. He wanted so badly to dig through the items on the island in the middle of the water. Mysterious lakes and other such bodies of water worried him. He'd learned a hard lessen the time he'd waded into Koralifel.

Taking a deep breath he stepped into the water and stood for a little while. When nothing happened he let his held breath out in relief. It seemed this was just ordinary water. So he wandered out farther. It wasn't very deep. it seemed as deep as it got was to about his waist. He made his way over to the island pretty quickly. Amadia was already on the shore of the small island waiting for him. She was such a quick swimmer.

He looked around the pile, bummed that it was mostly rocks and other such trash. He was almost ready to leave without anything to show for his work when something gleaming caught his eye. Kilian made his way over and dug into the trash. "Dragon orbs!" Kilian exclaimed as he pulled them both out of the rubble around them.

Leaving A

Leaving A

Quote:
As you leave the cave behind you and crawl through the dark winding tunnel the sharp rocks protruding from the walls scratch and gouge you. It gradually slopes upwards, back towards the surface. After a while, you reach another tunnel. Looking down you can see the tracks that you made earlier. Following them out, you squeeze out back onto the surface. The sun is now on the horizon.

Kilian was happy with what he had found and extremely glad that he had decided to explore the cave. With his exploring done, he made his way over to the opening in the wall and started to crawl his way out.

Reaching the end of the tunnel, Kilian realized it was now much later in the day. His relaxing day at the beach had turned into an adventure through a cave. "Lets go home Amadia." He said as he grinned down at his companion. The drakein, at his side, bobbed her head as they headed off. The day had been much more rewarding for her than just sitting on a beach.
