On his second day on the continent of Ayr Junjie was given his first assignment from the Dovaa Sage, it was to go out and see about trying to encounter the dragons that lived in large groups on Ayr. It was the Ayrala he'd been told, something that made him quite eager to see them since one of Erionda's Drakein was an Ayrala. He wondered what the two might have in common, coloration most likely but what else? Giving pause for a moment he looked over his shoulder toward where the Sage had been staying. The sage, Tilawen, and Abellio were all back there. This was something that he had to do himself. The Sage wanted for him to face this alone, to go out to see the Ayrala. It was something that he had been a little hesitant to do, Ayr was so different from home with less places to hide. He would need to be more careful, be ready to run if something went wrong, and otherwise be ready for whatever was coming.
At least that was he had been hoping, that was until he actually saw one of the big, intimidating, and rather amazing Ayrala came flying over head. It gave a roar that got Junjie's full attention, causing the boy to stare up at the dragon wide eyed, before it came flying down at him, claws extended, as though it was looking to scoop the brunette up. Junjie gave a squeal of surprise, wings popping out of their own accord, before he quickly lunged out of the way of the strike. The Ayrala landed, claws digging into the earth, before giving a snarl that said that it wasn't too terribly pleased with the fact that it had missed the boy that it saw as potential prey.
Looking from side to side the boy tried to figure out what the best thing to do was in this situation. Ayr seemed to have far few places to hide, no big trees to hide under or near, no plants that he could blend in with. He took a step back, the dusty ground crumbling a little under foot. His eyes snapped down and he starred a moment before he reached down, scooping up a handful of the gray dirt, and as the Ayrala snapped at him he threw it into the creature's eyes. He felt bad about doing so, not wanting to blind the thing, but he had to think about his own safety first. He couldn't risk getting injured, not on his first hunt, not when he was trying to prove himself to the Dovaa Sage so that the man would help him to become a Ysali Dovaa. He had to fight hard, even use dirty tactics like this, if it meant continuing onward toward his goal.
Whirling around on his heel the small halfbreed ran as fast as his feet would carry him away from the snarling, flailing, and all together unamused Ayrala. The very last thing he wanted to do was be anywhere near to the creature when it recovered because it was bound to want to come after him and give him a good bite in the backside for throwing dirt in such a way. To make sure that he didn't become a tasty snack for the angry Ayrala he made certain to put a lot of distance between the two of them. He was sure that this wouldn't be the last he heard of the Ayrala, not when he was likely to be on Ayr for a while, but this certainly wasn't how he'd hoped to introduce himself. Next time he was bringing his cloak so that he could better skulk around to study them he thought to himself as he ran.
