At last he seemed to have a good idea of what he was suppose to be doing, and Sailor Vespa, ever loyal and diligent, took to the streets of Destiny City. His mission, since he had no choice but to accept it or face General-King Howlite's wrath? Collect energy for the Negaverse. He didn't question the need for energy. A good soldier didn't dare question orders or the purpose of them, they simply followed them.
But he had hit a snag in his mission. People. There were people all over the streets of Destiny City, and his recent encounters made him hesitant to show himself to the public. Besides, there were orders that while he should have been obtaining energy from civilians, he wasn't suppose to hurt them, and if by encountering them that it lured out the enemy, then they'd get hurt in the cross fire, and that would have been bad. Not to mention a civilian came close to clocking him in the face when she spotted him, so he was looking for someplace away from people.
Which was what brought him to sneaking into a closed carnival, not the shabby abandoned ones but the in progress types (not that it made a difference). There'd be a small chance of there be a lot of people lurking around- maybe a few construction workers, and if he could get his energy quota from them, then perhaps he could move to the animals that were resting?
Not that he wanted to hurt the animals, but... would anyone notice anything weird about an extremely tired lion or tiger? They were always asleep when he went to the zoo... surely taking a little energy from them wouldn't hurt them, and no one would be the wiser.
"Work smarter, not harder," Vespa said, sneaking his way in and looking for where the big cats would be sleeping. Now he was more than thankful for his black attire- even with the bright yellow streaks and his ridiculously long hair, he'd be well blended in the darkness, or so he hoped.

It was strange that whenever Luxor did deign to power up, and it was rare because he was still learning and he was not entirely sure how to really start all of this duty and purpose stuff, he seemed to find someone else powered up nearby. He was trying to get his park opened, and these interruptions weren't help.
And the fact that these powered people kept appearing inside his park grounds was even more infuriating.
It made his temper flare. He was a bit like the Hulk, in his way. He was a quiet, though maybe not particularly friendly, guy. He was steadfast and determined, a hard worker who kept his head down and focused on what needed to be done. He was a leader, a man who knew what he wanted and how to get it, and he did not waste much time. He didn't talk or share, and if he had feelings he did not show them on his face.
Except when he was angry.
Scowling, he moved toward the strange power signature he was feeling. He didn't know what it was, it was unlike anything he'd felt yet and he did not like it. The way it made his skin crawl told him it was something evil, but he could not understand just what. He'd no concept of corruption, really, just that some of the powered up folks were good and some were not.
He moved into the tent where the animal cages were kept. It made him even more angry to know that someone was in here with his animals: if they were up to no good he would rip them in half. He didn't call out, not wanting to scare his animals, just moving to try and get a look at whoever it was that was visiting uninvited.

"Don't take it personal, Mister Lion," Vespa said to the caged beast that stared at him through the cage's bars. The lion was huge, much bigger than Vespa could have possibly imagined one would be, and in all honesty, just seeing him lift his heavy maned head and look at him made the corrupted Senshi want to reconsider his actions. He was behind iron bars and he still looked like he could bite his head off, and that was a good reason for Vespa to consider looking for a less violent victim. Preferably one with no fangs or claws or millions of years of evolution teaching him that meat on any creature tasted good.
So, he was about to sneak towards another cage when he felt another aura pop up, and while this one didn't feel like the Senshi he had faced before, it was certainly of Order origin. Which meant that his quest to find a quiet, safe, non-Order place to gather energy was met with failure. How many of these Order fellows were around? He was told that they were outnumbered, but he didn't think they were everywhere!
"Crap, crap, crap... can't a guy fill his quota and not be disturbed?" Vespa grumbled, not even bothering to try to go the stealthy route anymore as he knew it to be pointless. If the Order fellow had a decent working brain and knew to rely on his senses, then there'd be no point in stealthing his way to victory. He could have retreated before there was a confrontation to begin with, but then what if a senior officer found out? Turning his back to the enemy without even putting up a fight? He didn't want to think of the punishment for running away without at least trying, nor what would happen if he didn't get his quota. Nope. Even if he had to get energy from the one that had powered up near him, he would not leave this carnival grounds empty handed! "Well... come on out already! Let's fight and get this over with! Come on!"
When stealth failed, just be open. Yes. He acted far braver than he felt, but he would refuse to yield. Not unless his opponent was quite the brute, in which case, Vespa would be willing to find some excuse that might fly for the Negaverse.

Luxor heard Vespa calling for him and moved to address him directly. He did not really know much about stealth anyway, and the direct route was the best one. He moved toward the strange person, not sure what to make of him. He half looked like a senshi but his aura was terrible. Obviously chaotic, or whatever it was they were supposed to call it.
A bad guy.
"What are you doing to these animals?" He had to be careful not to say -his- animals. He stared at the intruder, though, his anger simmering in his sharp eyes. He was angry, furious in fact, and his temper was difficult for him to control some times.
These animals were his to care for. Rescues and creatures that needed to be kept, that would die without his help. He was attached to them, and they seemed to know it, as well. They were a part of his family. He did not like the idea that this creep was trying to do something to them. Hurt them.
"You shouldn't be here," he said evenly, and yet there was a dangerous edge to his tone.

Vespa wasn't sure what to expect from the other, but he was a little surprised to see Luxor standing there, appearing half dressed for a moment though before he could make a snide remark about leaving the house without a shirt, he recognized the design and realized it resembled an Egyptian attire. That was certainly interesting... not that Vespa was sure what to make of it, but all he knew was that this guy, Senshi or not, was definitely the enemy.
"Nothing. I was going to drain their energy instead of draining a human's..." He answered his question directly, standing in a combative position despite the fact that his opponent appeared unarmed and hadn't raised his fists yet. Vespa knew it was inevitable, and if his opponent wasn't going to strike first, then he'd gladly do the honors. "But then I realized how that might go horribly wrong, so... I opted out of it."
It was already bad enough he couldn't control his wasps, but to be mauled by a lion or a bear? No, Vespa wasn't looking for a fight with those kind of animals. Not to mention, he didn't really want to hurt them either, but he'd rather someone think him a coward than a softy.
He could hear the edge in Luxor's voice and he suspected that the time for words would be over soon. There was no point in delaying the inevitable, Vespa thought, and without further ado, he charged at his opponent, fists curled and ready for a fight. "No, it's you that shouldn't be here! Leave Earth alone, invader! Aghhhhh!" Lithia_Brandon Pathetic battle cry is pathetic.

Luxor was getting rapidly used to having people make comments or at least make faces about his clothes. He was not able to change them, not matter how hard he focused or how much he thought about it. He thought for a moment that maybe if he focused hard enough he could decide what outfit he would be powered up in but it seemed this was the one he was stuck with forever.
He growled.
"Are animals less than humans, in your mind?" He was not a fan of that idea. His animals were a large part of his life, and they were almost more than where he considered humans. After all, he did not have human friends, and he often spent time with the animals, watching them, relaxing and unwinding from a stressful day just because he was in their presence.
The change in his opponent's attitude did not go unmarked, though, and he braced himself for the attack that was coming. He moved into it, but a few steps toward Vespa and Luxor stooped, putting his power into his legs, then leapt into the air. He was acrobatic, which allowed him to flip and turn himself in the air to land behind his opponent and then continue his charge from there, hopefully throwing the Senshi of Wasps off his footing.

Vespa felt that his charge was gallant and that he actually might have had a chance to get a hit in, but he thought wrong. It wasn't that he missed, but the fact that his opponent had dodged him and looked so damn cool while doing so that threw him off of his game, and when he went crashing down, he went down hard.
His chest hit the dirt, no doubt throwing some dirt and mud into the hole in his chest and skidding a few feet before planting his face down as well. He was lucky to have the visor as it at least kept the filth out of his eyes, but his mouth and nose wasn't so lucky. When he finally came to a stop and his stomach, hip and legs flattened against the ground, he pulled his head up and sputtered, feeling as though he was choking on earth and even had swallowed a worm in the process. He could only hope that, given their location, that all he swallowed was dirt.
Finally, when the dirt was cleared out and his embarrassment down to a tolerable level, Vespa looked to his opponent and gave a spat, as he pulled himself back to is feet. Despite his mess up, he wouldn't allow his question go unanswered, and he may have been a little more spiteful than he meant to be. "No. Some of them are too smart for their own good. I just... thought that they'd be easier. Look, sorry I messed with your stupid animals- I haven't even touched a single one yet!"
He was gearing up for another attack, and he hoped that this blow would be more successful and less humiliating than his first attempt. This time, he went for a kick, aiming for the knee in hopes of limiting that incredible leaping ability he had.

Luxor was trained in his own way. Though he had never been much for fighting regularly, he kept himself fit and agile to work on the trapeze and do any tricks that might be cool or interesting to open shows in the Big Top. He was the ringmaster, after all, and he needed to work just as hard, if not harder, than his team.
He found adapting that dedication and his training to this new form, coupled with the power boost he got from it, was easier than he had thought. He was stronger than he knew what to do with, though he already knew that there were many others out there that were much stronger than he was.
But if they threatened his home, his friends, or his animals, he was not going to stand for it.
He at least waited while Vespa got back up to his feet, though he could have easily struck out at him and kicked him while he was down. But maybe this was just meant to be a lesson, and not an actual defeat. Luxor had to remember that he was supposed to be a good guy here and was, thankfully, in enough control of his temper that he wasn't lost to a haze of anger.
Luxor braced himself and swung his fist for Vespa's rapidly approaching face. He did not see the kick coming before it connected with his knee, though, and that made his leg buckle and he fell to one knee because of it. He hissed a few curses under his breath, though he tried to defend himself by swinging his fists.

The kick hit its mark? Vespa wasn't quite sure what to make of it, but he certainly wasn't going to look the gift horse in the mouth on this one. Except said gift horse had found a way to rear around and turn on him too, and the rapid blows from Luxor sent the Senshi of Wasp sprawling backwards with a groan.
He knew that he had an advantage over his opponent with his magic, but he resisted the urge to summon it. Not after last time. He could still feel the phantom stings when they turned on him, but if it meant to get out of this situation alive, he would be willing, but he gave a warning first.
"Please, let me go, and I won't attack you with my... um... wasps things. YOU WON'T LIKE IT!"Lithia_Brandon Short post is short! Forgive meeeeeeee...

Luxor struggled to his feet, his knee aching, but he at least had his weight on it and knew it wasn't badly damaged. He gripped his hands into fists, holding his fists up and scowled darkly. He was not going to go down so easily.
At the threat, though, he arched his eyebrow.
"You sound scared. Either you have no attack, or you don't know how to use it. I'm not scared of you, either way, and I'm not afraid of your 'wasp things' either. So why don't you just leave this place, before it gets really ugly."
His anger was evident in his pose and his tone, growling low and rolling over his words. His eyes flickered in that regard, as if a dark fire was burning behind it. He was not ready to let him leave that easily, but he was compelled to over him one last chance.

There were many things that could provoke Vespa into action, and one sure fire way of ensuring a fight would break out would have been to call him a chicken. Behind violet, bug-eyed visors, green eyes flared with fury, and Vespa was all but digging his feet into the ground like a bull that was preparing to charge. He swore he could feel steam shooting from his nose and ears, like an old Warner Brothers cartoon, and in place of that high pitched whistle was his angered shout, not quite as high pitched but just as ear piercing. "I am not a coward!"
Had he stopped and tried to be rational, he would have reconsidered his actions, but he was just too ornery now. He knew that his attack would hurt himself as well as his enemy, but at this point, he figured he'd be too angry to feel their stings, and so he charged forward again, waiting until he felt he was close enough before calling forth his attack. "Vesperian Scout Flight*"
The energy wasps sprung to action as though their hive had just been kicked, and Vespa realized that when he thought his anger could block out the pain of the stings, he thought wrong. Nothing quite stopped his rage-filled charge like wasp stings to his face and shoulders, and he could only hope that he had gotten close enough to Luxor to give them another target. "OW OW OW OWWWW! TAKE THAT! OW!"----- * Sailor Scout Attack: Vesperian Scout Flight Sailor Vespa apparently has forgotten the difference between bees and wasps, but this attack will still sting quite a bit. He holds his gloved arms out, palms upright and from his palms comes a small cloud consisting of twenty wasp shaped yellow and black energy. It will swarm everyone within a four foot radius and when it makes contact with the flesh, the opponent will feel what can only be described as, well, wasp stings. Once the attack as hit either flesh, clothing or anything of resistance, however, it will ‘pop’ and disappear and if left not hitting anything, its duration lasts five seconds before dissipating. Can use twice during a battle. + Will pop and leave a stinging sensation on the opponent; does not penetrate clothing (will dissipate upon contact) + If they don’t hit flesh, clothes or other forms of resistance, the stinging will last 10 seconds + Affects everyone (even teammates and himself) in a 4 foot radius around him; meaning that Vespa may point them in the direction they need to go, but attacks indiscriminately.

"You're not?" Luxor returned, digging his heels in, "you look like one. You act like one. I'm not close enough to smell you, but I'm sure you stink like one, too."
He watched the other, not grinning, not looking confident, not looking like he was going in for the bitter banter. He was going to defend his home, his place of work, and he was not going to let anyone hurt his animals. So he was not the best at mocking his opponent, but at the moment he was serious.
He was angry enough to want to hurt this guy's feelings. To make him know that coming here had been a mistake.
And that Luxor was not a fight to take lightly.
He was not anticipating the voracity of the wasps, though, and he had never seen senshi magic quite like this before. He pulled backwards as Vespa got closer, but the stings were painful and they managed to reach him.
"Argh!" he yelped, but he charged and swung his fist for Vespa's face as hard as he could, driven on by the stings of the wasps. "Damn your magic! Get out of here!!"

The experience of the wasps was just as painful to himself as it was to his opponent, and Vespa's rage and will to fight was pretty much nipped at the bud, and he knew it was his own doing. He knew that he could have left the fight when Luxor gave him the chance, but his temper and desire to succeed for the Negaverse was his own hubris.
He spat, too busy swatting at his own attack despite them being made of energy and not actual wasps (though flailing about like this would have only made the matter all the worse for them). He hadn't heard Luxor's shouts over the loud popping and his own shrieks, and he certainly didn't see the fist coming at his face until it clocked him right in the jaw and sent the Senshi of Wasp flying backwards.
He wasn't sure what had hurt more, his own attack to his uncovered flesh or the punch, but it was around that time that Vespa felt that a tactical retreat was in order. He couldn't win, and if he allowed his temper to get the better of him, who knew how much worse this night could get for him? He didn't want to retreat nor lose, but he knew that there was no way he could win, either.
He spit in Luxor's direction, thankful that he at least seemed to have knocked him away from the few energy wasps that remained to where he could get up and flee. And flee he did, as though he were the last player in the dodgeball team. "I'll be back someday! And you'll regret this!"

Luxor decided that he hated this senshi, and that it was the worst pain he had experienced so far. Wasps were horrible creatures, miserable little monsters, and he hated the idea that a senshi like this, an evil one, could just call them at will.
How strong would an attack like that get?
Luxor did not want to find out. And he did not want to let the evil senshi have a chance to find out, either. But for now, following through on such thoughts was beyond him. He had not seen enough, had not experienced enough, yet to justify it. He simply did not hate them enough.
Not yet.
He let the senshi get up for now, watching him as he stumbled away, doing his own best to try and get away from the damn energy wasps. The attack faded though, as the senshi retreated, and Luxor watched him go. He had a new enemy now. And he would keep an eye on him.
"If you dare come back, I'll make sure you regret it," he called after Vespa, fury filling him. Now he really needed something to punch, but his only target was fleeing the scene. Growling, Luxor turned and found the nearest solid construct, a wooden support pole, and punched it as hard as he could.
"I'll destroy you if you ever come back here!" He bellowed to no one, as loud as he could.

Vespa had no way of knowing just how much Luxor hated him right now and if he did know, then he certainly wouldn't have blamed him. He hated himself right now and for many reasons. For ever getting involved in this war, for being so incredibly useless when all he wanted was to be a valued member of the team, and most of all, for having an attack that he had no control over once it was triggered.
These energy wasps attacked any and everything that moved, and he wanted nothing more than for their stings to cease. He wouldn't stop running until they finally dissipated, or when Luxor's shouts could no longer reach his ears. Whichever one came first, he figured.
Just as the last of the wasps that circled them began to pop and die, the Senshi of Wasps shouted back to the page, and no one could ignore the pain in his voice nor just how deep that wound to his pride was. "F-fine! I didn't want to come to this stupid carnival whackhouse anyway! Y-you can have it!"
Another loss for Vespa, and the Negaverse, and Vespa knew that there'd only be so many more strikes against him before he was brought to General-King Howlite's attention. All he wanted was to be useful to the Negaverse... and he couldn't even drain energy from some helpless animals. When would this soldier have his day? Lithia_Brandon Calling it a wrap on my end! It was fun!
