Being back at the school was a nice refreshment from the feylands and his father, and the last visit had disturbed him more than words could form. Some things weren't adding up, while other thoughts left him with chilling realizations he didn't quite want to come to terms with.
Not yet, anyway.
Lying on a tree branch outside, the faerie was content with lazing the day away, watching the ghouls and boils come and go in and out of the school. He saw a lot of new students, as well as some he recognized from before but didn't feel the need to call out.
Marosa felt like being introverted, today.

The quad had been a good main spot for people watching, and Ruth was definitely going to be camping there during most of her spare time. But it also helped to have more than one vantage point, and multiple angles were always good for those other point-of-views moments.
She would have preferred to skate while searching but that tended to limit the areas she could access. That method of travel did not come without its disadvantages, she found out. For now she was hoofing it, moving as silently as she could amongst the crowd until, finally, she decided to simply settle in the shade of a tree.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how the rest of things play out, the tree the cap-wearing reaper chose already had an occupant. She peered up expectantly at the boil, saying nothing, and doing nothing but stare from beneath the bill of her cap.

Feeling like he was being watched, the faerie glanced down to see that he had someone watching him, and gave a small wave to her. There went his leisure time, but he found that he didn't actually mind so much.
"H'lo," Marosa greeted in kind, a small smile offered. "Oi dinnae think oi've seen ye around before. Are ye new?"

Ruth had been counting the seconds until her presence was noticed or acknowledged (and she did know there was a difference she just hasn't learned to identify which was which) before the boil atop the tree greeted her. The time between her decision to stare up at him and when he smiled at her wasn't as long as she would have liked but then again, she hadn't been hiding.
The reaper waved in response, barely a smile on her own face save for the slight upturn of one corner of her mouth. She gestured at herself then raised a finger indicating a 1. With a slight tilt of her head to the side she pointed up at him.

Curious at her actions, the faerie watched her motion, and looked confused for a moment. 1. Was that her name, or... wait. He'd asked her if she was new. Did that mean she was a first year?
"First year, aye?" Marosa smiled, hoping he got it right. "Oi'm second year." Sliding from the tree branch onto the ground, Marosa held out a gloved hand for a possible handshake. He was getting better at the touching things part.

Ruth knew all about handshakes and formalities and introductions. In all honesty, she really should have just taken the older boil's hand and shook it firmly. But where was the fun in that? It was always a lot more interesting to see how other people reacted when she gave the impression she didn't know what to do.
And jack how did she make a show of it. First, there was a tilt of her head, lips pursed in what she hoped was a quizzical manner while the bill of her cap tilted downwards slightly, indicated she was studying the proffered hand as if she wasn't sure what was expected of her.
A beat.
The reaper held the hem of her skirt and raised them slightly, revealing the short black shorts beneath as she... curtsied. Or made an attempt of it.Kanth Sorry it took me a while too @ 3@

This brought a smile to the boil's face, as he retracted his hand and inclined his head down at her. "Oi'm not sure of yer name, but perhaps ye'd like a tour? Unless ye've already had a tour." He shrugged, reaching up to brush his long curly hair behind his shoulders.
Di he mention his name? Wait. Yes. Yes he did. "Oi dinnae s'pose ye wanna give yer name?" So much for being introverted. At least he was attempting to be social and polite! Yaya would be proud, in her strange way.
The faerie couldn't help but grin at this thought.

Ruth's smiled at the older boil, her eyes tapering into slits in the process (not that he'd see given how they were obscured by the bill of her cap and the bangs of her hair) at the offer of a tour. It was one thing to see things by oneself, learning the lay of the lands was essential in any situation, but having someone else explain the significances of landmarks? Jackpot!
She gave him two thumb's up in approval and when prompted for her name, Ruth considered showing him her short's monogrammed behind. But then that sort of introduction was best reserved for larger groups. Instead, she pointed to herself with one hand while the other gestured towards the tree.
Specifically the roots.

Following her pointing gesture, the faerie stared at the tree for a moment, nose wrinkling up in thought.
"Tree...?" He looked closer. She was pointing at the base. Oh. Oh! "No, it's Roots, isn't it?" His eyes were bright as he glanced to her for confirmation, a smile toying at his lips. He loved puzzles and guessing games.

Ruth's expression didn't change at the older boil's initial guess, indicating that he should keep going. At Roots, the blonde tapped her nose and gave him a thumb's up. It was close enough to her real name and it didn't hurt anyone if it was a few letters off of the real thing. Besides, there was a promised tour and she very much would like that.
With an arm, she gestured to the surroundings behind her, cocking her head quizzically at him. As if asking where do we start?

Nodding and beaming at guessing, Marosa gave her a short bow and beckoned for her to follow, his hands reaching up to tuck his unruly hair behind a shoulder.
"Oi'm sure yer familiar with the courtyard, so oi kin show you the places inside." Moving to open the door, he held it open for both of them long enough to walk through, and started to lead the way to where the food was.
He could already smell the food wafting from the cafeteria, and had to admit that the aroma made his mouth water. "Looks like they've started cooking fer the lunch crowd. Oi dinnae suppose ye've eaten?"

The prospect of going into the cafeteria and what she could do in the cafeteria would have Ruth lighting up like a Christmas tree. But because the grin never left her face, she didn't have any difficulty trying to downplay her eagerness. She rubbed at her stomach, suggesting that she might be interested in getting a bite to eat as well before walking through the doors.
Inside, Ruth felt her heart skip a beat at how many students there were. There could be so much wonderful chaos here, she just had to do something. Lightly tugging at Marosa's sleeve, she gestured to the line the students were in for their turn at being served.

"Aye, food's a good idea," The faerie approved, giving her a grin in return as he moved to step in line. "Anythin' yer interested in?" The line wasn't that long, and already Marosa could smell the sweet things that were being cooked up in the cafeteria line. Being a faerie, he had a soft spot for sweet things, and just couldn't help himself whenever there was any in the area.
Of course, he had no idea what Ruth had in store. The poor sod.Huni Pi ugh sorry for the late reply sob two jobs suuuuck
