First night of patrols, and Sailor Vespa had absolutely no idea what he was doing. Or where he was going. Or what he was suppose to be doing. What he wanted to do was grab a pair of scissors and do away with this ridiculously long hair, as he found moving around with it to be a real pain in his backside. How was he expected to move and fight with hair that practically dragged along the ground?

Would his hair remain this long when he powered down? Would he ever power down? If he powered down and it returned back to its original length, then where did that length go? Would it simply explode out of his head each time he henshined up?

All of these questions were swimming in his head, but he had no answers. He was told to see out a Negaverse officer and get answers, but where was Vespa to look? He could feel things, things he never felt before, and he tried to pinpoint his focus on the feel good feelings in his chest and followed it. He didn't question orders, even when he should have taken the time to write everything down and get key details clarified. He was a good soldier, or so he was told... but a clueless soldier.

One that was now lost and had decided to take the time to find a nice comfortable spot in the Horticulture studies garden of Destiny City University and untangle some bits of hair from one another. All the while, he grumbled, not knowing or caring if anyone heard him as he let out his inner frustration at recent events. "What a fine mess this is. Look at it! I hope the officer I'm looking for has something sharp or a pair of scissors to help me out with! Going to so trip on this someday..."

Thraen had powered up in his usual spot, and no mistake there was the feel of an aura right on the University grounds. He bristled, noticing that unlike before this was a distinctly unwholesome feeling note in his awareness. It was almost indescribable except by comparison- it wasn't soothing, it didn't blend with the surrounding feel of the world, and it seemed shifting and volatile. Volatile....that was a key in that. Volatile meant Chaos. It was an enemy of the White Moon Court of some sort, and they were on University land. He didn't feel any other white aura near, so that meant it was up to him to investigate.

He ran, rabbit hoping benches and handrails on the way, curious where the 'chase' would lead. Except it wasn't moving at all for a little. It was paused. And the agricultural buildings, with their green houses and conservatories loomed into view. Were they poisoning the plants? Turning the tomatoes into youma or something? He shuddered a moment, remembering the tree-thing at the mall, then hurried around the glass inner gardens to the furrows and study plots that were outside- now well tilled and planted for spring full of shoots and budding things. There it was! Black and gold apparent like someone belonging to the Pittsburgh Penguins. And they were....talking to themselves?

"Braids and coiling could help that. Not exactly what you should be doing after you leave the house, though. "

"You're an agent of the Negaverse. You're not welcome here. These gardens are pure. Go now, or I'll weed you out. "

He pulled and tugged at his hair, trying to get it into some kind of manageable state when he felt something fuzzy within his chest, and he stopped in his frantic fit to see if a leave or perhaps a caterpillar had fallen into his hole. No, nothing there but his blackened starseed, but the feeling was still there. And it was growing, meaning that whatever it was, it was getting closer, or bigger, or... something.

No one took the time to explain ANYTHING to him! And that made him rather mad. How was he expected to go out and follow orders if he didn't know what his orders were? It almost made him want to pull his hair out, even more so than wanting to be rid of this ridiculously long hair.

What made him jump to his feet was the sudden voice, and despite his long, golden locks and how easily he could have tripped, he was ready for action. He looked at the one that threatened him, and immediately recognized him. Or thought he did. Once again, he was told nothing.

"Ah, so you're the enemy!" Vespa said, clenching his fists and standing his ground. He took in his appearance and the aura around him, connecting it to the fuzzy feeling he had felt moments before. So this was what a White Moon senshi felt like! A strange feeling... for someone that was trying to invade his home. "You can't tell me what to do. This is -my- home, now YOU need to get out!"

He had never fought a Senshi before... he actually never fought another person before, at least not in a serious fight. He would stomp his feet and swing his arms around, but he never physically punched a person, even if they deserved it. But he didn't let it show. For the sake of the Negaverse, he wouldn't back down from the enemy!

"I'm pretty certain your home isn't the Horticultural gardens, " Thraen shifted, taking a loose approximation of a looser 'combat' stance like Maia had shown him some of. He was confident that he himself didn't have any business in a fight. To be honest, he was terrified. The black hole gaping at the other youth's forehead, above what Thraen assumed must be some sort of goggles, drew his eyes as moth to flame.

There was the entry wound that let the poison flow. Poison that would twist, break, and then rot the senshi across from him from inside out. Was it contagious? How were they made, exactly? The Primer hadn't had the answers. 'Exposing their starseeds' was the ominous information it did impart. The seed of the star or heavenly body that they each bore name and life from.

"You've let the life and name you bear be poisoned, marked with a pit of black to foretell what you've traded your fate for. I will see you off the University grounds before I let your poisoned magic touch any student, building or plant here. " As he spoke he started trotting towards the stranger, intent to close the distance a little between them. He wasn't sure what he planned to do...mostly to try to grapple the other guy to the ground.

The White Moon senshi raised a good point. This garden in particular wasn't his home, but Vespa wasn't going to retreat yet. He snapped, his fuse growing shorter and shorter and it reflecting in his voice. "Y-you know what I mean! Earth! I mean Earth! Earth is my home, and you need to leave it!"

And that was only the start of his rage, as Thraen's words cut deep. Not that Vespa understood a lot of what he said, but the tone of his voice and what those words implied meant that he was insulting him. And that was something that Vespa wasn't going to allow. "Hey, you don't know me, and you have no right to say that! You better shut your mouth, because those are fighting words!"

Or at least he thought they were. No, he was certain they were fighting words. And the way that Thraen was approaching him only made it perfectly clear that there would be a fight on their hands. And while Vespa was standing in a fighting position, he was scared shitless on the inside. What was he thinking? What was this White Moon Senshi capable of? In fact, what was he capable of? There was only one way to find out, and he was ready to fight when Thraen was literally upon him. His attack connected and as willing as Vespa was to stand his ground, he fell backwards and onto his back with a grunt.

He didn't bother waiting to see if his opponent would fall over with him or try to pin him, and he did the first thing he thought to do. He summoned his magic, closing his eyes and giving a shrilled shout, "V-vesperian Scout Flight!"

-----

Sailor Scout Attack: Vesperian Scout Flight
Sailor Vespa apparently has forgotten the difference between bees and wasps, but this attack will still sting quite a bit. He holds his gloved arms out, palms upright and from his palms comes a small cloud consisting of twenty wasp shaped yellow and black energy. It will swarm everyone within a four foot radius and when it makes contact with the flesh, the opponent will feel what can only be described as, well, wasp stings. Once the attack as hit either flesh, clothing or anything of resistance, however, it will ‘pop’ and disappear and if left not hitting anything, its duration lasts five seconds before dissipating. Can use twice during a battle.
+ Will pop and leave a stinging sensation on the opponent; does not penetrate clothing (will dissipate upon contact)
+ If they don’t hit flesh, clothes or other forms of resistance, the stinging will last 10 seconds
+ Affects everyone (even teammates and himself) in a 4 foot radius around him; meaning that Vespa may point them in the direction they need to go, but attacks indiscriminately.

Ivynian
I'll have the attack affect him (Vespa) after your next post. He's not going to like his own attack reaaaaaal soon. Feel free to try dodging or stepping back. c:

Those are fighting words? Do people actually say that outside of Warner Brothers cartoons? Who was this kid, Yosemite Sam? They were both of them hardly old enough to know Yosemite unless they really liked animation. Imagining a giant tan sombrero on the other didn't exactly help the terror level, but it didn't hurt either.

The other youth went down with a push, and Thraen followed down, crouching over the other, trying to get so that he had Vespa's hands pinned. It looked so much easier in movies when someone pinned someone else. So much less flailing and struggling. If he could get Vespa's hands tied with one of his stupid vines or sash, he could carry him safely off University grounds. The the boy shouted something, loud in the minimized space between them, and Thraen winced and grated his teeth.

Vesperi-whattheBEES?!?!?

His train of though, equating the root of the word to vespa and therefore the Italian word for wasp was drown out completely by some sudden blooms of pain-fire from little swarming things on his trapezius, cheek and bicep. He shifted up like a bullet from crouching over Vespa to kneeling upright than falling over and rolling away over some mounds of dirt and seedlings. He was making noises, nothing intelligible and all panicked, flailing in the mad way that animals trying to ward off indistinct assault do.

Thraen kept rolling like it was a fire drill, more willing to get his white's filthy than end up a blotchy, allergic mess of stings and swollen. Senshi could summon BEES?? That was just WRONG. When he was well coated and had some distance again he stood up, sore, and holding a hand over the side of his face that burned and ached. Was the other still encased in a shield of stinging death? Could he control them like some weird Ben with rats but for bees or hornets or wasps or whatever stinging unpleasantness?

Thraen looked for the watering hoses, thankfully set up sprinkler irrigation style, reached out and turned the knob. Getting drenched in mist might get the evil things out of the air if they were still swarming. And they'd both get to have a wet t-shirt competition.

ChibiGingi
Nah, he's trying to grapple him, that's not really time enough to get away.

Vespa knew he was taking a risky gamble but what choice did he have? Thraen had him pinned and he had no intention of staying still long enough to give the other Senshi any sort of advantage, and so he felt like he had made the right, and only, move he could make. If all else failed, rely on his magic to save him! Even if he never used it before.

And the sight of the tiny, yellow, energy-filled wasps that exploded from his gloved hands certainly brought a smile to his face. And the sight of them buzzing around and attacking his enemy made Vespa laugh at the enemy's turmoil. "Ha! Take that, and that! And I hope they hurt!"

Except his taunts came too soon. It started with a pop to his shoulder, then another, and another, and Vespa had come to the horrible realization that he had absolutely no control over his own attack and who it affected. What energy balls that didn't hit Thraen had struck him, and it wasn't long before he, too, was flailing about and running from the ones that were left. "Ow, ow, OW! S-stop! Stop! You're attacking me too! Ah!"

He was thankful for his visor, at least, as it spared from from being hit in the eyes and it allowed him to see where he was going. He didn't look for the enemy nor see how he rolled or ran towards the sprinklers, and if he had, he would have gladly followed him in some hope that it would help. That seldom worked with a real swarm- what luck did he have with wasps made out of energy?

"Get off me! Get off! I'm the Senshi of Wasps- YOU SHOULD BE LISTENING TO ME!" Vespa screamed, wrapping his arms around his head and protecting his now red cheeks and ears from further assault. For someone who was fascinated with insects, he seemed to forget the proper protocol when being attacked by a swarm. "Aahhh!"

Well there was an answer to a question he hadn't been asking but had been swearing about in his heart of hearts. Not bees-wasps. This was a senshi...of wasps. Thraen twitched, the remaining few around him not really deterred by mud or water and plinked against his skin painfully.

Now getting drenched, sore, and muddy, Thraen glared through a screen of damp ashen hair at the other flailing sailor. "Failure the queen, failure the authority, Wasp."

"Is that all the sting you have?"

His lip hurt, a stinging feel just at the edge of the lower where pigmented skin met alabaster. It sounded rough, right? But he really, really didn't want to close distance again. He didn't want another dose of that. But would it be enough to goad the other into crossing the distance between them? Maybe? He was banking on it and decided to lay his flowers between them, "Thraen Annual Planting! "

------------------------

Sailor Scout Ability: Thraen Annual Planting
How it Works - Thraen folds his hands together like prayer, the opens hands and they are full of seeds. He blows over them, dispersing the seeds. Hundreds of flowers spring up, growing and blooming magically. Their scent causes those who stand near them to fall asleep.

+ The patch of flowers that grows is a 10 ft. radius around Thraen
Duration - The flowers bloom in the post he casts them. If those in the flower bed or near it do not get at least 10 ft. away from the flowers, they fall asleep like Dorothy in Wizard of Oz. The sleep lasts for 15 seconds. The flowers last for 20 seconds.
+ If someone doesn't stay near them long enough, they don't fall asleep. If people hold their breath, wear a breathing mask, or cover their mouth and nose with wet cloth can avoid the scent as well. Once a person has fallen asleep in one flower bed, they cannot be affected by that bed again. Only a separate bed would affect them. This is an AoE (area of Effect) spell that effects allies as well as enemies.

Vespa was too caught up in his flailing and fleeing of his own attack to have heard a single word that Thraen had said. In fact, he didn't even notice if he was even still there. Why would he have cared when he was being assaulted by his own magic? What kind of sense did this make? He allowed his screams and shouts to be heard, even as the last bit of the wasp-shaped energy began to dissipate around him, though their sting still lingered.

"Augh- who... who in their right mind would want to give someone with an attack like that?! Ow- ow-OW, stop stinging me! I'm Vespa, Senshi of Wasps! I SHOULD BE EXEMPT! AGH!"

The only time that Vespa heard the other Senshi was when he was shouting his attack, and he spun around, looking for his opponent that he had foolishly lost track of and admittedly finding it hard to spot him with his visor. Where did he go? What was he about to do?

By the time he spotted him and ran forward to attack, it was too late. The flowers exploded from around him, not only startling Vespa but forcing him to stop long enough to get a good face full of its sickly sweet pollen. He coughed and brought a forearm to his mouth, but it was too late. He got maybe one, two steps, before he felt the pull to sleep, and Vespa didn't even have time to mutter a full sentence before collapsing to the ground. "Wait... I know this... mo..."

"It...it WORKED!" Thraen's mouth split into a grin and he gave a triumphant laugh. The other senshi....Vespa...he'd said his name clearly, Vespa, he had breathed the pollen and was a perfect sleeping beauty in the flowers. After a few seconds, Thraen blanched and got off his baldric- he didn't have much time. Not much time at all. He had to work fast and get the others hands tied up behind his back so that he would be safe to maneuver around.

Up close, before turning him to get at his arms, Thraen considered Vespa more gently than the battle belied. Soft trailing of fingertips along the visor, the edge of his jaw and then mustache. You are hardly older than I am, by looks. No lines of care yet at edges of lips or laugh lines by your eyes. What lies brought you to this farce, this trade for unwholesomeness? A decision to walk in guise of malice instead of hope. "wasps can be good, even in their violence, you know." Thraen's words were soft to the sleeping youth, "Enemy mine, you could grow gardens and fruit in honest work and pollination, stave off parasites to grow your own brood with mine. Why can you not walk in welcome here..."

It took some figuring. Thraen didn't have any scissors, nor the strength to just cut the loop of the archaic piece of livery. So he went for a mishmash of looping back and forth around the other youth's wrists. How was he ever going to heft the other? Dead weight was notoriously hard to get up. Well, he was magic-strong now, right?

Or...stronger, anyway. It took the whole rest of the time limit of the sleep for Thraen to get Vespa up into his arms like a bride . Not even a start of carrying him in a muddy, wet, pollen-covered mess that they both now were. He hoped he didn't struggle too much. Maybe he should have grabbed Vespa's green sash to tie his feet together. No time for that now.

Vespa was out cold, no doubt about that. Had he survived this ordeal to tell others, he would have likely left this part of the story out, if only because first off, he was unconscious, and secondly, it was rather embarrassing to admit that he had succumbed to such an attack. Not that he thought any of his allies would blame him, but they'd no doubt consider him a laughing stock... and he didn't need anyone else laughing at him.

And yet, matters could have always been a lot worse for the Senshi of Wasps. After all, Thraen could have killed him, and probably should have, if what other Negaverse agents told him were true. Some of the Senshi were out for blood... would Thraen be one of those? Not that it would matter for him- he was asleep and therefor a prime target, and had he woke up in Heaven, or Hell, more likely, given how tainted his soul had become, he wouldn't hold any anger towards the Senshi of Gardens. After all, he was only doing his duty, right?

Yet there was no Heaven or Hell about him when he did wake, but there was a very muddy and soaked Thraen, who carried him, and he immediately sought to struggle, only to realize his hands were bound! He gave an immediate, but verbal, objection, not struggling too much for the moment. He hadn't killed him as of yet, and Vespa wasn't going to give him a reason to, but he would bring up his dissatisfaction of being handled like this. "Hey... what's the big idea? You... you can't handle me like this! Put me down!"

He was unconscious and had not heard the other Senshi's words at the time, otherwise, his fighting spirit might have been crushed. Instead, he looked ready to start swinging again, if he could get his hands freed, and he gave an indignant huff. "This is embarrassing..."

Ivynian
Sorry this took forever! Let me know when you want to start wrapping this up!
PostPosted: Mon May 27, 2013 12:26 am

"I can handle you like this because we're enemies. You're not welcome at the University until your starseed is cleansed and put to rights. Do that, and I'll welcome you with tilled soil, budding garlands and open arms, Vespa. "

The little struggles didn't come as a surprise, but Thraen still wobbled a little and then held the other youth closer, like a worried groom in a rainstorm that hoped to protect his betrothed with his own body. "But for now...come here again and I'll see you off the same."

"I intend to put you down." He hurried into an awkward trot, past buildings and ambling paths over the quad and then over the street that bordered that side of the university. The immediate 'off grounds' was next to a museum, its benches and tiny tree amble that led to a parking lot. There were lights there, and the benches would do- Thraen laid his bundle down carefully on the bench.

"You shouldn't get hurt here, at least as long as you clear out fast. I don't think hoodlums care much to try to mug 'terrorists'. Take care, better care than you have as you woke to darkness. "

ChibiGingi
We can wrap up in the next posts if you want? Thraen leaving him on a park bench to get himself untied and Vespa can get untied and head out? Mostly Thraen would just want to make sure he didn't re-enter University grounds.

And any time Vespa wants revenge I'm up for it.

"Oh... that's it?" Vespa wasn't sure why he had gotten himself so worked up over, now that he had learned of Thraen's true intentions. He was simply removing him from the University grounds? Not killing him? That was certainly much better than where his imagination was going, and Vespa wasn't sure if he was suppose to be suspicious of the White Moon senshi lying to him, or take his word for it and be relieved. Either way, his death was immediate, and that was enough to please Vespa on some level. "Well... um... just make sure no one sees this? I don't want to be the laughing stock of the Negaverse..."

In which case, he probably already was, but he kept this from the other senshi. He was certain that this would get out to one of his senior ranking officers and he'd be not only punished for his failure, but ridiculed as well, and did he not deserve it? He failed his mission, and that was unacceptable for a grunt!

However, as worried as he was with his inevitable punishment and humiliation that would come later, he found Thraen's words to be oddly comforting, and interesting. He was already going to be punished, so he felt little hesitation in pushing the subject of his words with him. "'Cleanse my starseed?' Uh... not sure how, and I'm certain that the Negaverse wouldn't approve, but... I guess it's within the realm of possibilities in the future. I mean, they might think me too useless a soldier to them and kick me out. Or have me purified, just to call me an enemy and kill me... yeah... seems like a lot of trouble, but..."

He shook his head, unable to believe himself for talking to the enemy like this. "Gah, what am I doing? I'll be back someday! I won't forget this humiliation, either... I'll make sure that the next time I come, I'll be stronger, and they'll listen to me, too! THEN we'll see who's laughing!"

For all of his threats, he was set down on the bench regardless, and the other Senshi's warning about hoodlums gave him a fright. He didn't want to be mugged! How embarrassing would that have been to explain to his senior officers? Not only did he lose to a White Moon senshi and fail to collect any energy, but he was mugged by common, everyday thugs? The moment Thraen set him down on the bench, he worked at the binds, even bringing them up to his mouth to gnaw them off if he had to. He shouted between chews. "I'll be back someday! Mark my words!"

Ivynian
Vespa will always want revenge!

"You're only as useless as you let people convince you, Vespa. "

"Who is laughing?" Thraen was awful confused, since he wasn't, and Vespa wasn't. And no one else was around. It didn't even make sense figuratively given that case. Vespa....was an odd fellow. But as soon as he started gnawing on the wrapping, the Senshi of Gardens bounced on his feet once and then started making a haste to retreat out of sight. And that meant a rush back to the shadows of the buildings and the campus grounds. "Go home, Wasp!"

He couldn't go home, not yet, until he was sure that Vespa stayed away. But being powered gave it away. So as soon as he was around a corner, Thraen henshined down and crept along to look back out at the halo of street-light and the bench. Once Vespa was gone, he could head home himself without worry. He hoped. If Wasp was cowed at least for one night and content not to rush back onto campus and into battle.

What was he going to do if the corrupted boy rushed back? Thraen-now-Quenton bit one of his knuckles anxiously, watching.

Thraen's kind words were not lost on Vespa, even as he was gnawing and chewing at the device that bound is hands. He heard them alright, even though he didn't want to. They were kind, wise, something that Vespa felt he didn't deserve, especially coming from an enemy. He had just attacked both of them with little energy wasps that he couldn't control, and he was giving him helpful advice? Perhaps that was the White Moon's plan all along, to confuse him and cause whatever doubts he might have already had to spread like wildfire within him?

Well, if that was Thraen's plan, than he was much more successful that the Wasp senshi was willing to let on. The moment he freed himself from the vines, he SHOULD have gone back to the garden and taken what he came for, but he didn't. And it wasn't just the fear of another fight breaking out that caused him to linger in his spot and rub his wrists.

It was something that Thraen said, how he acted, and how it all contradicted what those in the Negaverse had told him that the White Moon Senshi were capable of. Thraen attacked him, but only because he had threatened him... so, Vespa really couldn't blame him for their transgression. And he knocked him out and removed him from the garden instead of squishing him when he was helpless.

Maybe there was something to Thraen's words? Maybe the Negaverse was wrong? It was a lot for Vespa to take in, and he knew that he could only carry so much with him. He'd simply have to return back to the 'nest' empty handed this evening, and with a frustrated grunt and a kick at the vines that once bound him, he darted down the streets, away from the University. He'd simply have to fill his quota elsewhere... at least until he got stronger.
