So it begins!

Alois knew his mission, but he couldn't quell his nervousness.

He knew what was to come, what would transpire. He knew the pain and agony he'd cause at the behest of another. He knew of the impending conflict borne from his actions. None of these things bore any weight on that knotted, churning feeling in his gut.

No, this was entirely different.

He wanted to impress the girl, and how in the hell would he do that if he failed to comply with her instruction? It was a simple task, yet the primary way he attacked the problem yielded no results. He simply wasn't nice. Any attempts he'd made to even shallowly befriend someone and lead them along resulted in utter awkwardness and pent up rage, then were punctuated by splenetic retorts.

Alois would have to take a different approach if he wanted success. That much was glaringly apparent. So where might he go to fulfill his mission?

The park, obviously.

The evening was young, and vibrant with the striking blue sky and clear sun. The temperature outside was ideal for shorts and tank tops, and essentially anything Alois would never wear. The light breeze provided relief during labor-intensive sports, like football or tennis. A plethora of people would've left their houses and taken to parks, community pools, nature trails... Opportunity was ubiquitous on this day. It was up to him to take advantage of it. Since the sun would set soon, he had little time to procrastinate.

As he reached his destination, he noted the number of occupants was dwindling rather quickly. Families with small children were ready to go home and put their young to bed. The more responsible teens were packing their belongings and making plans to head home and study for their Monday exams. Even the solitary artists sought to finish their work and depart before dark. And, given the lengthening shadows of the trees, he had even less time than he thought.

In his pensiveness, he accidentally shoulder-checked a scrawny teen, who was quick to berate him for not watching where he was going. Alois merely responded by flipping him off, then continued down the stretch of walkway. He already decided that showering people in kind platitudes wasn't his strong suit, so why try to be nice? Besides, behaving as he normally would might actually be to his advantage.

Alois set his sights on a particularly inviting opportunity only a handful of yards away. He caught up quickly, seeing as his new target used a cane and walked with a pronounced limp. How useful, he thought. Imagine what kind of misery I could cause with preexisting injuries... Just the sound of it roused a grin from his lips.

He was glad he came out to play today.

As he approached, he made note of the other man's features. He had striking red hair, though it was tousled as if he couldn't be bothered to brush it. He dressed somewhat differently than most people did in this city; Alois wasn't sure if he just wanted to stand out or if he actually hailed from elsewhere. It wouldn't matter; his origin and taste in clothing wouldn't save him from what the misanthrope had planned. However, despite the boy's unique appearance, the piece that drew Alois' attention the most was the cane he depended on to continue walking. It was fashionable in its own way, he supposed, but the primary attraction it held was the fact that the redhead depended on it.

Once he'd come face to face with his mark, he flashed the boy a cocky smirk and indulged in his natural talents: slinging insults. "Hey, cripple," he assailed in an acidic tone. "What's the cane for? You get <********> too hard last night?" Surely that would ruffle his feathers, and subsequently set the plan in motion.

At first it had been hard, learning to walk with assistance.

In the beginning, Tolliver had been more than a little bitter about the whole accident (some b*****d in a four wheeler hadn't been paying attention to what he was doing and had run a red light, straight into Tolliver and his Yamaha). Fritz had stayed with him through all of the physical therapy, cheerfully pointing out the positives (though there were few), but it was not as if talking could make it better. And it was not as though the b*****d had not fled the scene and his stolen car, making him next to impossible to track down.

No, Tolliver St. James was not exactly pleased with his life at the current moment.

He'd at least managed to make it to the park without any help from his brother - or rather, even telling Fritz that he'd gone out. But Tolliver had long since grown tired of the constant catering, the constant checkups on his well-being, the constant denials that he was capable of doing things he had once done without needing a babysitter. And he was sick of being cooped up in the loft 24/7.

So he'd grabbed his cane and left.

It had taken some time; each step made his leg ache, and Tolliver dug around in his pocket for his bottle of pain meds, the many multicolored bracelets on his wrist jangling as he pulled it out. But he had no water, which meant no pills, and with a sigh, he stuck the bottle back away, mumbling obscenities to himself.

He could not go farther than the first set of benches in the park, and since he had come the more roundabout way out of sheer stubbornness, this part of the park was lesser occupied than the rest. Tolliver slid onto a bench and sighed with relief, propping his cane in front of him and leaning back, eyes closed.

Life was so unfair sometimes. And apparently it was about to be even more unfair.

At first, Tolliver did not bother responding to the mocking voice, though a muscle in his jaw tensed slightly. But it seemed whoever was there wasn't about to leave anytime soon, and Tolliver opened his eyes, lifting his head off of the back of the bench to stare at the figure in front of him.

"Yes, as a matter of fact," he said. "I got it from spending the night with your mother last night. She was a little rough, if you know what I mean," he added, with a sardonic wink.

It's cool! Life caught up with me too.

How interesting. Looks like the target he picked has a mouth on him. That just made his task much easier, not that it was difficult before. Anyone who talks back to him like that deserves this kind of fate, and he was certain this presumptuous fop would learn his lesson soon enough. Alois would take special care in ensuring the boy suffers greatly.

"My mother's got AIDS, boy," he retorted, grinning. "Better get yourself checked." If they were to have a battle of the wits, he would surely win. After all, he spent the majority of his life learning how to piss people off and the latter half practicing it. Then again, it might be a little fun to go back and forth with this decidedly British boy. Still, he couldn't waste much time on it as he didn't want to keep her waiting.

The lanky misanthrope approached the boy on the bench and usurped his cane in one fluid motion, and kept a fair amount of distance between the two. He managed to twirl it on his thumb for two rotations before the kinetic energy wore out and the cane began to fall. He caught it deftly and grinned. "Bet you'll be wanting zis back, eh?" He asked, as he began backing up. "You'll haf' to come get it." In an effort to coax the limping man off the bench, he backed up towards the street. "Unless you want to call my mom to take you home." With another vitriolic smirk, he headed toward the street with cane in hand.

Alois knew he'd have to lure the poor sap out a fair distance if they wanted to continue their plan uninterrupted. Since his target couldn't run, he walked leisurely across the street and into the alleyways without looking back. It would be fairly easy for him to deduce the other man's location, since that pronounced limp caused uneven footfalls. As he lured the man away from the safety of the thinning crowds, evening began fading into night and the street lamps kicked on. He found it mildly perplexing, but a little artificial light wouldn't give her away. Now if he could just remember how to get to that particular alley, and keep that mouthy Brit in tow... It shouldn't be a problem for him.

"Hurry up, boy. I'm starting to think my mom was too much for you!" He laughed derisively, and skirted a corner to keep the other man on his toes. Sometimes he even ran the cane along the masonry lining the buildings, which resulted in him chewing through the rubber sealing on the bottom of it. It didn't matter; when he was through with the Brit, he wouldn't have any use for a cane.

As he suspected, he was nearing the designated rendezvous point, and with the target in tow no less. "Come out, come out, wherever you are..." He spoke to the empty walls of the dead-end area. She would be making her debut soon, but not without the Brit close by. Thus, he immediately turned and shouted down the alley. "Hurry up before I snap your damned cane in half!" Though, he had half a mind to do it anyway, in case by some stroke of luck the kid survived. What the hell, why not? Maybe he could break it as an agent of the Negaverse. If he couldn't, she probably could.

Alois simply waited for her, leaning against the wall nonchalantly. Though, he was waiting for the Brit too.

If there was anything that Tolliver loathed, it was the amount of arrogance a person held in regards to certain things - and most of those things referred to an arrogance towards people.

People like himself, he decided.

Tolliver made a grab for the cane, but it slipped from his fingers, and he made a slight growl from the back of his throat, a look of annoyance flitting across his pale face. Slowly pulling his hand back, fingers curling into his palm as he set it beside him on the bench, he tilted his head a little to the side, lips pressed together in a thin line.

"So you're a baton twirler now, are you?" he said, and his voice was light, as though attempting to be casual about the whole thing, though there was a small strain to it, a tightness to his features that suggested otherwise. He slowly stood up, resisting the very strong urge to flinch in pain, and took a deep breath, eyes flickering towards the other's.

"I'll call your mom about that little rendez-vous we'll be having later in your bedroom," he said, and started walking after the young man. "I'll be sure to mess up your sheets for you."

It was simultaneously agonizing and slow going. Tolliver grit his teeth together to keep from letting out curses, though inwardly he was shouting every obscenity he could think of. The limp was caused by a scar that trailed from his thigh down to his upper calf; the cut from the accident by a stray piece of metal from the car that had hit him. He'd been fortunate enough to keep his leg, and with rehab he might be able to walk better than he was now - but he was making things worse by pushing himself like this.

But he was not about to just give in to a prat like this guy, not any time soon. Tolliver's sheer stubbornness kept propelling him forward.

When he finally made it down the dead-end street, it was to find the other leaning against a wall as though he hadn't a care in the world. Scowling to himself, Tolliver painstakingly made his way towards him, moving right up into his space and reaching out to curl his fingers in the other's shirtfront.

"Give. It. Back."

A pause.

"Please," he added, with a healthy dose of sarcasm.
