Grrel was out venturing into the mists of Ayr again. She didn’t like the cold and the dimmed sun at all. She was a creature of sun and sand, not of shade and mist! Her bright orange color made her stand out even more than in Serenia where at least the trees were golden. Gliding through the mists with the weak morning sun slightly warming her wings, Grrel headed out to look for an Ayrala dragon. Her last encounter had been bad, but she hoped she’d mastered more of her magic to be able to beat one this time. Her purple eyes looked from signs of mist not moving with the wind or bunching up where it shouldn’t. That’d be where the dragons hid, she thought. Completely oblivious to the shadow slinking in the mists behind her. Grrel may have been good at hunting in a desert or forest, but mists continued to confuse and baffle her. Plus it dampened the air and her sense of smell was lessened. The Ayrala behind her attacked quickly and silently. The only warning she had was a single flap of a wing as it speed towards her. It was enough for her to get her static armor up and turn the ambush into a more fair fight. Snarling at the larger dragon, she lashed out with bolts of lightning, causing rumbles of thunder to echo in the valley’s below. But for all her magic, the wind dragon knew this area and the winds and its own magic better than her. And he used it mercilessly. Grrel was fighting a losing battle and she hated it! Snarling in anger, she loosed one last huge lightning bolt and as the dragon dodged, she flew straight up and then away, back towards her cave on the beach in Serenia. Huffing and grumbling the whole way. Just why was she having so much difficulty!?

As she flew home, another Ayrala attacked her from below, catching her completely by surprise. Snarling in anger, she let loose a bright flash of light and covered herself in her small bolts of lightning. The dragon yipped in pain as the scaled leg he was biting suddenly flared and began to shock him. Growling, he let go and gouged a large scratch in her side as he circled to her other side to attack her there. Grrel was not happy. Today was not her day! She twisted and lashed out with her magic, but she was exhausted from her first battle and this one was just to fresh and strong for her too do much. She tried to escape at any chance, but he stuck on her like a burr! The infuriating beast! Couldn't he see that she was admitting defeat and fleeing? What was it with boys and chasing? Seriously! Grrel growled and suddenly turned around to score a slash across the dragon's face. Using the chance, she then flew straight out to sea, making sure to dive close enough to a ferry that was unloading a pack of two-leggers, several of which had bows. At her bloody appearance and the Ayrala dragon on her tail, the archers quickly strung their bows and fitted arrows to them, Grrel kept on flying over and away and managed to dodge the arrows sent her way. The Ayrala was not so lucky, he got hit by several and his roar of anger as he turned from chasing her to attack his new targets. Grrel gasped a sigh of relief and staggered across the sky towards Serenia, hoping that she had enough strength in her to reach land...
She did have enough strength, but not enough to reach her cave, and she began to look for someplace safe to hole up and hide. A meadow caught her eye, it was large enough that she’d be able to see enemies coming, that’s the place she thought as she felt her wings give.
