It was around noon and Pris had taken her time leaving. Alfonze was busily making clothing not just for her, but for Kayan, Maddie, and Penney. It seemed even Graff had grown. She had not met Graff yet, but if they said he grew, then they were likely right. She had changed quite a bit over the last week. She had these uncomfortable boy parts and she was not happy about that. Carp said it was normal, but she just stopped arguing with him about them. She didn’t quite know what to think and every time she did think about them, Priscilla turned red. She honestly did not know if she were boy or girl at the moment so it was on her ‘ignore list’. However, this day it was Carp in charge and he seemed to know what he wanted.
His pouches to carry things were wrapped around his waist and she had chosen a red outfit. His right arm was different now and so was the right side of their face. Those that knew her knew about Carp and stared briefly before doing as he asked. After that, they simply accepted what he wanted. Alfonze usually came along, but he was so busy that Carp had not asked It was a daily trip to the market for bits and pieces of things, broken or unbroken, that brought him out. He had several piles in his workroom for dolls, but there were still things missing for each one. He was quite unsure what he wanted.
“No. No. No. Not what I need,” he mumbled to himself. “They need to be…” Twisting and turning the items around in his hand, he focused on the way they felt. Too heavy or too light? Not bright enough or too light? Not the right wood? Not the right metal? Depending on what it was, Carp was picky. His dolls were precious as well as useful and no two were ever alike. Not even twin dolls. There was something special about each one. Right now he stood before a table of feathers as well as beads, fabrics, and glass.

To fully experience sensations for himself again was a marvel that Mang had sorely missed. The vivid splashes of color caught his bright eyes, the bustling sounds of the busy marketplace filling him with a sense of joy that could not be put into words. Mortals. They were brilliant and fascinating, and he'd be a very poor Mediator indeed if he couldn't stand to be around them almost constantly. So many of them bustling about, seeking the safety and refuge that the Pantheon could bring. The Gehenna was over and done with, and for all of the tragedy it had wrought... well, he was grateful that their faith had been restored in Harmodius. Let it never waver again.
There was an itch deep within his skull, one that intensified the longer he strolled about, stretching his long limbs and keeping his tail pressed against his back so he didn't accidentally bump against anyone. Still, there were more than mortals shopping today, and if Shuo reached deep within the latent energies that connected them All, he could sense that there was a god or goddess among him. He was all too eager to reacquaint himself with those whom he could no longer recall quite so clearly.
He paused for a long moment to watch the figure who was currently studying a mess of bright, beautiful trinkets, his amber eyes bright with interest as he took in the wooden limb and the strange, almost porcelain half of the beings face.
"Hello," Shuo said rather cheerfully, the tufted crest of feathers dusting his scalp standing straight up. This ought to be fun.

Carp was definitely engrossed in what he was doing. Then he realized that there was someone speaking to him. He looked confused for a moment, then turned to study the person. Tilting his head, Carp suddenly grinned. “Such wonderful feathers. Do you ever lose any of them? I mean I would take them off your hands. I always need…” he suddenly stopped when Priscilla yelled at him. His thoughts moved inward. *Carp! Stop it! You introduce yourself to someone first! Don’t be rude. And you don’t go asking them for body parts.. Geesh… * She hoped she didn’t have to remind him not to reach out and simply pluck feathers from someone. ”Forgive me,” he said bowing to Shuo. “My host is yelling at me saying that I am being rude. My name is Carpediem, Carp as my host Priscilla calls me. I tried telling her I am not a fish. I am Manikin Virtuoso, the Dollmaker. I don’t suppose you kept feathers from your last preening, did you?” *Carp! Stop it! That’s being rude again!* This time Carp turned slightly red. “Honestly I don’t deal with people much. And she says I’m being rude again.” He sighed. What could he really say after he had done it twice. “I apologize again. I’ve not even let you introduce yourself. I only know a few of the gods here. Valor, Mystery, Lament, and Lady Mystery.” He shut his mouth before he made the situation worse. Perhaps this god would find amusement rather than offense. Really this was why he liked dolls. He did not have to be other than who he was.

Why, what a wonderful ball of energy! Shuo's eyes practically gleamed as he watched the fellow start his conversation and then promptly cut off. "You are delightful." He all but crooned, his tail twitching wildly with the force of his emotion. "It is a pleasure, Carpediem! I am Shuo Huang Zhe, the Mediator of Crowns." He swept into a bow. "And of course, a pleasure to meet your host as well! Mine is not nearly so creative with nicknames, I must confess. I'm rather envious!"
But what had he been saying? Oh, yes-- "Unfortunately, my feathers are rather new, so I haven't molted just yet. When I do though, I'll be certain to save them for you!" After all, they weren't any use to him once they were no longer attached!
"You've met so many already. I envy you. To be fair, my host was not so social. I've got catching up to do! Meeting you makes a for a positive start."

Carp nodded. "I would appreciate it and I am happy to meet you. I don't often leave my workshop and when I do, I have things to do. I have some wonderful hair from Yu Five Claws. Priscilla groomed him when he helped us get our rooms." Mediator of Crowns. "Ah you are one of the dragon kings also. I knew there were a few returned.""Toshiro has one," Priscilla piped up. "He's got the bloody general.. Hmm.. not the right word. It was something else but they called him the general. And then there is Xun and.. and... I'm not sure who else besides Yu. He's a big puppy but I wasn't scared of him. He was nice even if he does have big teeth." She giggled but then Carp took control back. Carp sighed. "When I least expect it, she pops out. She is lively, but she gets things done. She loves making dolls as much as I do."

His teeth clicked together in open mirth at the thought of a little girl grooming his brother like a prized pet. "Oh, but the sums I would have paid to bear witness to such sights." He dipped his head good naturally at his title, acknowledging.
It was Priscilla's comment that made his crest flare, standing pointedly on end. "Chien-Tang? Truly?" This was news to him. Delightful news, to be certain! As for Yu... yes, he had truly chosen a ferocious host to embody himself. Perhaps it was fitting.
As the god resurfaced once more, Shuo offered a somewhat distracted smile, his thoughts still racing. "She is a delight, truly. My host is a bit more reserved, as I said before. Really, his standoffish nature does not lend itself to most situations."
There was sudden feeling of indignation and protest that welled up inside of him, and Shuo's lips unconsciously twitched. Bringing his mind back to the conversation at hand, the dragon made a note to investigate more later. It would be rude to derail the conversation so abruptly right now.
"Forgive me. News of another brother returning to our fold is always welcome. Clearly I've kept myself in the dark for too long! I find it fitting that the Dollmaker would have a host who has an equal passion for his craft!"
If only Laurence liked talking half as much as he did, came the wry thought.

"I am still undecided for the use of Yu's hair. It must be something special if I use it." Carp was picky about certain things and Yu's hair he considered one of his prizes to be conserved and only used on the proper doll. He still did not know that doll yet.
"Chien-Tang. Yes. That was the name. The Blood Shogun he is called. His host was a half demon half human named Riro Hakuouki. Very patient and intelligent person. Very... what is the word I am looking for? watchful, perhaps... He seemed able to size people up on first sight. There was another also... a rumor of storms or some such dragon king. I am afraid I do not remember any others. I have not met any but get my information from those with Mystery."
Priscilla giggled suddenly. "His doors are red and gold with black iron. And big... very big doors. He's got lots living with him. Humans. Demon wolves. Demon foxes. Even demon birds. I still need to get them to let me gather some fur and feathers." "You should get out more," Priscilla stated. "Especially if you have so many brothers to see. I am sure they'd be happy if you came to see them."

His tail coiled and snapped behind him like a vine, lashing wildly with excitement. Shuo was not aware of how openly his emotions were being displayed. The mention of half-demon earned an immediate wave of dislike from his host, and the Dragon King hushed him quietly. "Something special, indeed. He'll be honored, I'm certain."
"Storms. Shen Lung..." He grinned toothily at the little girl, delighted with the sound of her giggling. "Why, I can only hope such a thing is true... Big doors, you say? Why, then I simply must go see for myself!"
Demons, though. So many demons. Laurence would have a fit.
"I've been distracted as as of late, fretting over possibilities. I've disconnected myself from reality!"

Carp nodded. "As you can guess, I do not get out a lot either. I gather the things I need almost singlemindedly. Then I retreat to my workshop to create those that I need. Antoinette is the one who aids me as much as Alfonze does. Priscilla's parents are with me also." Such that Tei and Dera were her parents and the twins her siblings. They were slowly becoming his family also.
"And yes, big doors of red and gold with black iron. Xun Jiang would know more I believe. He, Taker, and Shen seem quite close."
It was then Pris popped out again. "And Xun is always punting them with his tail. I think Takeru does things that get him into trouble and then Riro takes the trouble unexpectedly." She broke into giggles, laughing hard. "He ends up soaked in Xun's lake." That's what the Cat had told her one day when he was trying to amuse her after checking on Sha'dera and Tei's babies. Tsunake Ugh... I'll try to get a reply sooner this time. >_<

"Is that not an appropriate action for the Dollmaker?" Mang chortled, noting the doors so that he could seek them out later. What a fun hunt that would be. And the prize? Well, there was nothing greater than discovering another long lost brother!
The thought of Xun smacking his brothers with his tail was enough to make him laugh out loud, his crest completely erect. "Just like the old days..." He thought so, anyway. His memory was still spotty at best, and the feathers wilted after a moment. Ah, dear.
Making new memories should solve that, no?
"Ah. But before I forget!" His fingers crept up towards his hair, and in one, swift motion, he plucked a few brilliant black feathers free. They shone with emerald iridescence when the light struck them just right, and he rubbed briefly at his scalp to alleviate the slight twinge of pain still lingering there. They were small, but he thought their luster made them rather wonderful!
"For my new friends." Shuo grinned, offering a flash of white teeth as he extended the feathers out for Carp and Pris alike. "I must admit, I'm fascinated to see what you'll do with them! But not rush, of course. One must never rush a master craftsman!"
Ahh, but he'd be lying if he said he wasn't at least a little impatient...Eftemie I was the one who took so long in first place! <3
