Jett hadn't slept well last night. He'd gone out, though not with the intention of gathering any more energy. He didn't know what he wanted, so after only half an hour of slugging around in the night, he'd made his way home. He checked his phone religiously before bed, and set it to the highest volume and placed it near his head when he did sleep.
He woke up several times in the night to check, always disappointed to see nothing. By morning, he was dragging himself out of bed, in as sour a mood as ever. His mother wasn't around—no surprise there; she wasn't due back from out of country until a few days from now. The house was still, and it was annoying.
Two cups of coffee and a platter of bacon later, Jett decided that if Raven wasn't going to contact him—what choice did he have? He took a quick shower, freshened up, and then powered into Remarque. Casually, has he had done so many times in the past, he stepped through his mirror, intent to take his favorite shortcut.
He made it through the mirror, but halfway in hit a brick wall and stumbled back out. He blinked, entirely perplexed; he had gone to Raven's room how many times? He tried again, with the same results, and obstinate as he was, even went for a third attempt.
When all failed, he plotted a different course; he instead focused on a mirror in the park. When he stepped out there, everything was fine.
Which only made him worry. Not wanting to be seen in daylight, he returned to his room and powered down, hastening to the keys on his bedside table. If something was wrong with mirrorspace now, the Dark Mirror Senshi were screwed. But he didn't care about that; right now it was all about Raven. Traffic wasn't bad; he had time to grab her a pretty bouquet and a box of chocolate without feeling too bad.
Pulling into the driveway was mechanical; he shut off his car, grabbed the gifts and walked to the front door. Knocking, he could only hope that her door worked better than her mirror.

Raven had only half cleaned up the shattered mirror, it would have been completely done if she hadn’t had the bright idea to pick up the larger pieces rather than sweep, so now her hands were all bandaged from where the sharp shards of glass had cut into her skin.
At this moment though, she was downstairs drinking a large glass of orange juice. Her energy hadn’t all returned, and she was still quite a bit tired, and slightly woozy. When she first heard the knock on the door, she half chalked it up to exhaustion and ignored it. But when a second knock came, the blonde sighed, dragging herself to her feet and taking her juice with her, opening the door slightly.
“Yes? Oh…Hey Jett. What’s up?” Even if it was Jett…she was contemplating if she was going to let him inside, and as such, kept the door closed most of the way…though part of that might have been due to the state she was in.
She looked a mess. Dressed in her oversized most comfortable pajamas, her hair pulled on top of her head in a terrible bun, Raven looked like a crazy hobo, rather than the stylish girl she always prided herself on being. But…what could you really ask from someone who had gone through what she had gone through last night?

Jett wasn't really surprised that she didn't open the door entirely; it wasn't like he'd called to say he was coming over. On the off chance that she was mad at him, he'd rather have surprised her so they could talk things out before she got it in her head that she could just ignore him for a few days before working anything out.
"Came to check up on you, Raven. You know I was worrying about you. Wanted to see if there was anything I could do to help. Plus," he shrugged, shifting positions so she could see the flowers he'd brought. "Wanted to cheer you up. How are you feeling?"
It wasn't like he wanted to hold this conversation on her doorstep, but he didn't want to push her too hard. She still sounded tired to him—understandably so—but her being home alone, he still couldn't help but want to come in and pamper her.

Raven still didn’t seem to be in any real rush to open the door, though might have let it drift a tiny bit more open when she saw that flowers. “I feel shitty, to be honest. Tired and dizzy and all I want to do is lay in bed. Why. How do you feel, Jett?”
She was being snappy, but she felt it. She felt snappy and angry and disgruntled. Why was he here? She was still mad at him, wasn’t she? Isn’t that why she broke the mirror…so he couldn’t come over? Why did she bother to open the door…
The blonde sighed, resting her forehead against the side of the door. “What do you want. I mean, to cheer me up. I don’t need it. Honestly. I’m fine, thank you.”

"Well." It was a word he was using to buy himself enough time to come up with a suitable response to her. "If you're not feeling well, go lay down in bed. I'll make you breakfast or something. I don't want you overexerting yourself, you've had enough of that for a while, I should think."
What with finals and the wraith? Raven deserved a break. They hadn't gotten the date they were supposed to have last night, and so he was making up for it the best he could, now. Not that showing up announced was probably the best plan, reflecting on it; he should have called to give her some warning. He just didn't want to risk her telling him to stay away.

Raven shrugged. “I can take care of myself you know. I’m doing a good job with it already. See.” She held out her bandaged hand, showing him the orange juice. “I’m drinking things to keep my energy up. I’ve got this Jett. Not to worry.”
In all honesty she just wanted to go and lay down. She wanted to stop talking with him and just go back to sleep. She didn’t want to deal with any more of this then she had to today, and she really just….wanted to be left alone.
If Jett wasn’t coming here to drop to one knee and propose…or to tell her that he wanted to get an apartment with her, then honestly she really wasn’t interested right now. She wasn’t interested in his concern, or his flowers or whatever else he wanted to do to try and cheer her up…because she didn’t want to be cheered right now. Not one little bit.
…Not really anyway.

His eyes immediately went down to her hand; the orange juice was ignored as he brushed his fingers over her bandaged hand. "Raven, what happened?" he asked, concern leaking into his voice a bit. Those hadn't been there when he saw her last night. Intent not to offend her, he added, "I know you can take care of yourself. You're a strong girl. Bright, pretty, brave. Why can't you just let me help you out somehow? I want to spend time with you. Pamper you. Love you. What do I have to do?"
His fingers were still lightly coming over the bandages; he looked into her eyes, and he wanted and explanation. But more than that, he wanted to work this out. Figure out why she was pushing him away. Figure out what he could fix for them.

Raven shrugged, tugging her hand away lightly. “Just got a little cut up, that’s all. It’s no big deal…” She sighed, moving over so he could come into the house. “Fine. Come in and pamper me, I don’t really mind, I guess. But I think I really just want to sleep for a few hours or something…I’m not in the mood for socialization or anything like that…even if it is from you. But I guess you can tuck me in or something if you want…I wouldn’t mind that…”
She took a long sip of orange juice and sighed. “So come in and walk me to bed.”
It wasn’t a cop out…she just wanted to…to see if he’d do it…or something. That was all. Plus...if it changed the subject of what she did to her hands...she'd take it.

Jett visibly relaxed; he'd been rigid, prepared for her to chastise him and try to chase him out or something. Being invited in was a pleasant surprise. He stepped inside and didn't seem to care at all about her appearance; he planted a kiss lightly on her cheek and linked one arm with hers. "It would be my pleasure, Raven. I'd love nothing more."
He began to lead her at a slow pace towards her room; if she wanted to sleep, he'd let her. After having her energy drained, he'd rather her stay in bed than risk passing out somewhere around the house—especially with her parents out.
Of course, her passing out wasn't his only concern; while they walked, Jett took the opportunity to glance at her hands—the both of them—and tried to assess them as discretely as possible. She didn't seem the sort to self mutilate, but whatever had happened between last night and now was going to grate on his nerves until he had answers. "Are your hands all right?"

She walked by herself for a few steps, then finally just sighed, resting against Jett. “Well…thanks. That’s cool. I mean…carry my orange juice, won’t you? I don’t want it to spill.”
Raven paused to hand Jett the large glass of juice, then continued walking, really not happy to find that he went right back to the subject of her hands. “There was just an issue, that’s all. They’re fine. I promise. They’re just fine.”
The blonde went into her room and got onto her bed, sighing and relaxing on it, seeming to mostly have forgotten the busted mirror complete with little mounds of shattered glass all around it. Oh, and a golf club that was on the other side of the mess. Couldn’t forget that.
Well, if Jett had eyes, he would at least be able to see what had cut her hands.

Without question, Jett received the glass from Raven. He balanced the bouquet, chocolate and drink with little difficulties. He didn't question her hands further; despite his unwillingness to drop subjects of interest, he could take a hint.
Walking into the girl's room, he second guessed that hint he'd been ready to take; it wasn't until he had lead Raven to her bed that he caught sight of the mirror in his peripheral. Casually, he glanced towards it—more than surprised at what he found.
The mirror had not been broken accidentally. It had been beaten—violently. There was no way anything received such damage without it being deliberate. But why?
It must have been the wraiths.
She must have been so upset about the one that she wasn't going to risk any others sneaking in to finish the job. That made sense; he didn't blame her. Every reflective surface seemed to be a door for them; if she couldn’t control the ones she summoned, who knew what the ones who were wandering out on their own might do?
Idly he commented, "I didn't know you were into golf, Raven. We should go play mini golf one of these days." He turned his gaze away from that side of the room, shifting positions so that he could set down the items in his arm and help the girl into bed. He peeled back the covers for her so she could just slide in, seeming patient despite the chaotic sight just a few feet away from her. "I'll go draw the curtains in a minute, get it nice and comfortable in here. You let me know if you can think of anything I can do to help you out, won't you?"

Raven got into the bed, sighing slightly and curling up, making sure her back was to the mirror. “We could go play mini golf. That would be cool, I guess. You know. So long as you make sure I win…”
The blonde closed her eyes, then opened them slightly. “Yeah. You can close the curtains…then get over here…give me the chocolates…and uh…get a vase for the flowers so I can look at them. Then you can cuddle me and I can nap, and we can order a pizza later and watch movies…”
She hesitated for a moment, then looked at him. “And you’ll stay here all night, right? No leaving. Not for anything?”
Not for patrolling, not for getting energy, not for bringing out that dumbass Remarque at all. No. She wanted Jett to stay here, and if she had to pretend to still be sick, then so be it.

There we go. That was the Raven he knew. The one he wanted to be with.
He pulled the blankets up to her shoulders, smoothing them out before he walked to her window. "No leaving for anything. Except maybe an ice cream run later, but you're more than welcome to come with me for that." He drew the curtains closed and then proceeded to run through her tasks; he passed her the box of chocolates and lifted the bouquet. A quick trip to her kitchen allowed him to fill a vase, cut the stems, and return with a pleasant display.
He set them on the table nearest to her and then invited himself to have a seat on her bed. Leaning over and propping himself up on an elbow, he lightly brushed his fingers through the girl's hair. "I won't leave your side. Except maybe to let that little fur ball out so you don't have to clean up any of her messes. But nothing else."
If Raven wasn't feeling well, the rest of the world could wait for him for a little while.
