Life had happened. There was no getting around it and there was no sugarcoating it. Life had happened and it had pushed all of her senshi duties to the back burner. And with good reason, too. Honestly. Truth be told, she was starting to enjoy coming up with excuses as to why she shouldn’t go out. And…and well…

They were getting easier and easier to make as time went on. Not that she hadn’t already been the queen of excuses to begin with.

But tonight…no, tonight Lesath was out, and she was draining…or about to drain some poor little hobo man who was sitting on the side of the road. She let one of her mirror wraiths out of the shard in which it resided. “Okay you. Go on and drain. Lest my queen get cross with me.”

She had no idea that Ares had gone missing. One of her rules of dating Jett was that he not mention anything senshi related while hanging out with her, so it hadn’t been mentioned…and of course. She had no idea that the wraiths were acting up.

Well, that is until her wraith started towards the homeless man, then paused and completely changed direction, going for her instead.

Oh…Oh this was both unexpected and completely unwelcome. The wraith began moving in and out of her, much like some sort of creepy pendulum, draining more and more energy as it went. Regardless of how many times she tried to draw it back into its shard it continued draining her, and she had a funny…(though not really) feeling that by the time it was real enough to hurt…she’d be too weak to do any damage.

Sinking to her knees, Lesath drew out her compact…Remarque would be out tonight. He was always out, wasn’t he? The loser. Stupid…preening looser. She opened the communication device and swallowed, speaking into it. “Remarque…uh…”the eternal cleared her throat. “Help would be really appreciated now you a*****e…please.”

Why was it that every time she used this damn thing to call Remarque...it was for the fact she was in trouble?
PostPosted: Fri May 03, 2013 10:19 am

The humming of his compact startled Remarque; it was very rarely that he actually found himself communicating on the thing. Let the girls play with their compacts; he had absolutely no reason to be carrying one.

Except for emergencies.

When he flipped it open and saw Lesath, naturally he was concerned; he wasn't near enough to sense her signature, though he was moving towards a mirror even as he replied into it, "I'm coming. Where are you? What happened?"

It was short and to the point, though he really didn't trust himself to say more. Weakness wasn't something he liked to show; Raven got to see a little in private, but tonight had been a busy night. There were energy signatures speckling almost every corner of his radar and he didn't want to risk anyone hearing too much—especially if she was out there, in trouble, already.

The stupid wraith was still moving in and out of her, and she was starting to get rather sleepy. This whole losing energy thing was quite dangerous…wasn’t it? Lesath swatted at it, but the creature…thing moved out of the way before the blow landed, much to her disgust. When Remarque’s face popped up in the compact she breathed a sigh of relief. “a*****e…get over here. I uh…my wraith decided I was a better person to drain…I was trying to work for once…and I guess he wasn’t in the mood for hobo…anyway. I swear that I’m going to go unconscious in a minute…so get here…please…I don’t want to die…”

She swallowed, some fear entering her eyes. “E-especially in such a dumbass way like this, Remaruque. So hurry up.”
PostPosted: Fri May 03, 2013 10:43 am

"I'm not going to let you die, Lesath. Just hold on," he said; anger coursed through him at the idea of a wraith attacking any Dark Mirror Senshi, but her? Oh, he'd kill it. He didn't care how much energy that lost; he didn't want it to get hers.

He still wasn't sure where she was, but he knew enough of her favorite patrol areas that he had a good idea where to start; he bolted through a mirror to another part of the park—and swore when there was no Dark Mirror aura. He ran through the mirror again, popping out elsewhere; this time it was much stronger. He couldn't see her, but a few seconds of running solved that problem. She popped into view and the mere sight of the wraith flitting to her tinged his vision red.

He must have made enough noise to send warning to the bloated thing; Remarque wasn't sure if it managed to jump through Lesath once more, but one moment it was there, and the next it wasn't. It might have jumped back into the shard, and it might have darted into the brush nearby; he didn't have time to consider it when Lesath was right there. He skidded to a stop in front of her and dropped to the girl's height before drawing her into his arms. "All right, there. It's gone, I'm here. You're safe. Are you feeling all right—breathing okay?" Paranoia kicked in; he pressed two fingers lightly to her neck, checking for a pulse. He hadn't ever heard of a wraith draining enough to kill someone, but these wraiths weren't exactly playing by the rules and he wasn't taking any chances.

Everything was going black. It was getting to the point where she was even too dizzy to remain on her knees…the blasted wraith was taking her energy like a person would take water from a faucet…and that really…wasn’t a good thing at all…

s**t. How many people had she done this too…and not felt one ounce of remorse about it? Oh boy. This was going to lead to the guilt trip of the century…provided she survived the entire ordeal. Though…

Lesath felt a warmth against her as Remarque pulled her close, his words though…they sounded strange and far away. Very far away…but at least the pull of energy stopped. She struggled to open her eyes, then sighed, letting her senshi form melt away to hopefully save some energy. “Sorry…no date tonight…too sleepy.”

She had been ready for the date too, ready to just have a night of celebration after winning the fight against her finals…but it looked like the damn fact she was a senshi ruined that again. It was starting to ruin everything…or was she just coloring it with the fact things kept cropping up.

Maybe she just wanted an out.

"We can raincheck, Raven, don't worry about it. What's important is that you're all right." His eyes scanned the area, as though suspecting someone with prying eyes was going to see him holding her. There was no aura, so he forced himself to relax a bit. Lifting her into his arms, he began to backtrack towards the mirror he had come from. She didn't seem like she was going to die, but that didn't mean he didn't want to keep an eye on her.

"Let's just get you home. I'll get you some cookies, some juice, and tuck you in. I can take you back to your place or mine, but I don't want you alone tonight."

He carried her carefully, making great strides at a slightly slower pace as not to jostle her. He didn’t think they'd drained enough energy that she needed to go to the hospital, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to do everything in his power to make her comfortable and relaxed after that.

“Why the hell did it do that? They’ve never…” She sighed, resting against him and just letting her eyes close. It wasn’t worth the effort to keep them open right now. “They’ve never been so dumb before…why start now…? Did I do something wrong? Am I just not strong enough…?”

Or had the stupid wraith somehow known that she had been talking to Zee? Had it known that she wasn’t feeling…completely rah rah for the Dark Mirror Court as of late? Were those stupid things really smarter then they let on?

These were all too many questions to think about, and she sighed, shaking her head slightly. Maybe this was all in her imagination…and it had all been just a fluke. A bad…stupid…albeit dangerous fluke.

Remarque held the girl closer to him, trying to rub her arm reassuringly without making her worry he was about to drop her. "That's not it at all, Raven. They've been acting strange. I don't know why. None of them have ever attacked before, but I don't think you can blame yourself for that. They've been getting worse."

He was quiet for a long moment, as though he was choosing his words very carefully. "Ares is gone," he said finally. "Haven't heard anything from her for a while now. Don't know where she is. But they started acting up some time after we lost contact with her. So don't blame yourself. It's not like these things understand. I don't know what we're going to do if they get much worse."

He turned, mirror right in front of them. Walking through it, even with Raven, was easy; he figured she would be more comfortable at home, with her little dog. He could pamper her there more so than at his place. He stepped through the mirror, right into her room, and bee lined for her bed so he could lay her down.

There weren’t many things right now that could have made Raven open her eyes, but the mention of Ares being gone was enough to do so. She didn’t speak until she was on her bed, and looked at the Eternal Senshi, frowning slightly. “And you’ve been hiding this from me why? I mean. I know I get snippy when you talk about all of this stuff outside of patrols…but this was a pretty big issue…I think.”

A pretty big issue indeed…and why did he seem so hesitant to tell her in the first place? Did he think she didn’t need to know? That she wasn’t good enough to hear…just because he was the super fancy Vice Captain or something stupid like that.

She looked away. “Thanks for getting me home…you can go now. I’m just going to sleep.”

Suddenly it just didn’t seem important that he was here. One moment all the blonde had wanted was Jett by her side…but now…now she was completely disgusted with him. Disgusted by the very thought of him being there…being powered…with his stupid a** wings and his stupid…well…everything.

Everything was just so stupid right now.

Remarque looked down at her, frown forming on his face. "You want me to go?" he asked; he'd been totally prepared—eager, even—to run out, get her some sweets, and crawl in bed with her for the rest of the night.

He wasn't particularly surprised by her reaction, though it didn't mean he was happy with it. He figured she wouldn't be happy—who would be? He'd rather not have worried her, but she had been attacked, and she deserved to know.

She was right, though. Big issue or not, he should have made her more aware of the situation before she had been attacked. So far as he knew, no one knew why the wraiths were acting like they were—and if they did, it would have been taken care of by now. His eyes were on her, straining in the darkness of the room just to see her, to try and read her expression.

"I can get you anything you need, be back here in a minute. Tuck you in, stay the night," he offered, resting his hands on his hips as he looked down at her.

Raven looked away. “Yes…I want you to go. I don’t want…you to be here right now Remarque. I think it would better if you would just leave. Please.” She wasn’t even sure why she was suddenly so hostile towards him, but right now Remarque was making her feel like she was going to throw up. The entire idea of Remarque—of the whole Court made her want to throw up.

“The only thing I need right now is for you to get out of my room. I don’t want to see you, and I don’t want you touching me. So please…just go.” The girl tugged the blankets over herself, burying her head under one. She wanted Jett. She wanted the guy she had been crushing on throughout high school. She wanted the suave boy who had stolen her heart…who had saved her from that stupid monster up in space…

No. She wanted that to be gone too. All of this stuff. Gone. Her entire life had been screwed over by it, she had broken bones, and now…now she had almost been drained to death by something that should have been on her side to begin with! This was all crazy and stupid and now she just wanted to sleep.

“…Go away Remarque.”
PostPosted: Fri May 03, 2013 11:36 pm

There was a strange pain in the pit of Remarque's stomach; he hated being told no, and he hated that Raven was making it difficult for him to express how much he cared about her. He lingered for a few seconds as he tried to formulate an argument, tried to figure out what course of action he should be taking to explain to her just why he should stay.

His body was rigid and tense, and all he could think about was how tonight was going to be so perfect. How quickly that had changed.

Thanks to those little ******** wraiths.

Raven was acting like he was repulsive. Like he'd done something wrong. He quickly rationalized it as some defense mechanism she must have conceived. Or maybe she was really just tired and didn't want to share her bed. He couldn't be sure with her, though it was difficult to force himself to draw away. It wasn't in his nature to give up, but damn it all if Raven hadn't changed just what his nature was.

"Fine," he concluded, though it was obvious he wasn't happy about it. "…Call me in the morning, then. I want to know that you're doing all right. Have a good night, sleep well. You know you can call me if you change your mind, I'll be here in a minute."

He had moved to stand by the mirror, hand resting on the cool surface of the glass, hoping that she'd change her mind now. So he could still spend tonight with her.

So he could just make sure she was all right.

And there he went. He didn’t get it, did he. She wanted Remarque to go. Jett could stay. Jett was always welcome…sure she was pissed at him, mad that it had been over four months now since she had told him she wanted them to move in together. Mad that she thought she had been hinting that she was hoping for him to propose…mad that he seemed to care about the damn war more than her.

Raven was just so mad at so many things, stressed out from exams…more like burnt out from them. Tonight was supposed to be perfect, and she had ******** it all up by trying to get back into the game of her second life.

Tears were stinging in her eyes and she squeezed them shut, glad that the blankets were drawn tightly over her head. She was nineteen years old, almost twenty. Now was not the time to be crying like some retarded infant. Finally after a long moment, she drew in a breath, managing to get out an only slightly wavering reply of. “Yes, Remarque. I want you gone.”

If only he could know how true that statement was.
PostPosted: Sat May 04, 2013 12:01 am

His hand clenched into a fist on the glass and he bit, hard on his inner cheek. He didn't want to go. He drew in a slow breath, taking time to let it fill his lungs. It was dark, but the mirror was right in front of him. His nose was inches from the glass, and he looked into it.

There was no difference from Jett or Remarque. Where one began and the other ended, there was no telling. Powering up wasn't something he thought about anymore, it was something he did. It was something he didn't know if he'd ever stop doing. No matter how difficult the battles were, how ******** up the wraiths were.

He couldn't quit.

And he couldn't look into Raven's mind to know what she wanted. He didn't pick up anything odd in the fact that she called him Remarque in the privacy of her room.

This was just a girl thing—it had to be. Raven was overemotional, scared. Didn't want him to see her cry or something. Was embarrassed that he had to come save her. It was fine, he told himself. By morning all of this would be worked out.

She'd call him. Tease him, scold him. It would be fine.

He released the breath—slowly. "All right. I'm going." He didn't know how many times he'd have to say it before it would sink in that he wanted to be there. "Change your mind, call me. Love you."

She said nothing, just squeezed her eyes more tightly shut, letting the tears creep out of them. He wasn’t staying. He wasn’t going to go back to Jett. Wasn’t going to hold her, comfort her, nothing. He was just going to walk through the mirror like the stuck up a*****e ******** that he was.

And she was going to let him. She was just going to lay here and cry, and blame him for all of this. Hate him for everything. Blame him for everything. Blame him for her falling in love with him in the first place. Blame him for being too wrapped up in lord knows what to spend time with her. Blame him for being around too many other girls in his powered up hours, letting them live in his house, letting them do whatever they pleased. Letting them do whatever they pleased while all she could do was get the short end of the stick and hear about any information that was going on with anything after she had already been attacked.

No. No, Raven wasn’t going to call him back tonight. Let him leave. Let him leave…

And maybe she just wouldn’t let him come back. Maybe she would just walk away from this whole thing now.

The blonde remained silent, biting down hard on her lip to keep the sob from escaping her throat.
