- All knees and knuckles, Nell looks awkward but is very dexterous and quick. In a childhood accident where a cold stone was kicked into a hot fire, a shard disfigures her left eye so that the skin is pulled tight and it can neither open or close completely. Shortly after her hand fastening at 16 her new family grew by the unlikely addition of a wild rook who shares her mannerisms and it is rumoured her sight.
A hunters wife she lives in the skirts of Wardwood and can shoot her husbands a bow and rifle well enough but for her poor vision. As well as home maker and mother she is a craftsman, herbalist and makes offerings to the spirits. It is widely accepted but unspoken that she is a hedge witch, she is chatty a sociable and likely to turn up with a charm, a brew or a welcoming ear unexpected.
Her siblings have all moved to Palisade and as her own children have all grown up she often has the chance to travel into the town where she takes great interest in the going's on of city life.
